Background:

Background is divided into three categories. Environment. Early Life. Goal. Skip this if you already have a background planned.

Environment is where your character comes from and what kind of child hood they had.

Roll 1D6

1) You were born to a normal family. Your parents provided basic and possibly specialty jobs for your tribe or city. Your family has a long history of being potato farmers, guards, weavers, artists etc etc. Whatever paid the bills.

2) One or both of your parents died before you got to know them, either through natural causes or they were cut down in battle. You were left with family, friends, or in an abbey.

3) Your parents were poor. Dirt poor. They strived to give you the best they could but there were days you went hungry.

4) Your parents were filthy stinking rich, either merchants, or even nobles. They possibly had servants to tend to your needs when they were not around.

5) You come from a nomadic people. Perhaps a tribe, or refugees in search of a new home. Your parents were considered an exotic species where they settled.

6) Your family provided an important service to their nation, kingdom, city or village, a head guard, quartermaster, wine tester for the king etc etc.

Early life details how you reacted to the world around you in your early child hood or teens. Skip if you are playing a small child.

1) You were the dutiful child. You were well behaved. Your friends were up building and encouraged you to pursue good goals.

2) Even if you were poor you really didn’t have to struggle in your child hood. Most everything was done for you or given to you. You hardly got to work for any of it.

3) You were a rotten person growing up. You fell in with the wrong crowd and they encouraged you to live a more rebellious life style. Petty theft, vandalism and violence would have come naturally to you if you chose to pursue it.

4) You were always curious, loving to learn. As an industrious youth you pushed yourself hard to learn new skills and set goals, be they good or bad, you dived for them with lazar focus.

5) You did not have a happy child hood. Maybe it was a negative or abusive household. Maybe someone you loved met an avoidable death. Maybe it was poor economic conditions. Regardless if you overcame these problems your child hood still haunts you when you talk about it.

6) You had a normal child hood. Caring parents. Normal friends. It was good, but quite, boring and dull. If someone wrote a book about you, you would be a side character. It was THAT interesting.

Goal. Goals are what drives your character.

1) Love. You are motivated by love your fellow beast, your family, your friends, you do your best for their sake.

2) Meh. You have no real goals other than to live a happy life.

3) Hate. You are motivated by hatred, revenge, or were afflicted by injustice early on.

4) Material pursuits. Money is power, power to keep food on the table.

5) Quest. You were sent on a mission or quest or endeavor to fufill the wishes of your tribe, nation, or mentor.

6) Free spirit. You climb mountains just to see what’s on the other side.

Hope you enjoyed it. Feel free to post what character you created here or your own RCG lists!
