Zocalo and the Hare - Thorns of Steel TP? Maybe?

From inside the village, Zocalo wanders into the entryway carrying a lantern. He's nonchalant but still cautious, looking from side to side every now and then, well aware that there has been an attack and, so far, nobody is quite sure what's going on. At least no one he's talked to. He waves the lantern in greeting to Oakenpaw, recognizing the hare from the debacle at the carpenter's shop a few weeks back. "Evenin'."

Oakenpaw asks, "Hello there lad, who goes there?"

Zocalo sets his lantern down on a handy-dandy nearby rock so that it can illuminate the area. "It's Zocalo, from the carpenter's shop? Oakenpaw, right?"

Oakenpaw says, "Aye..yer notthe one who wasshooting Arrows at me are ya?"

Zocalo grins broadly and shakes his head. "No, that was Wyld. I'm just the shopkeeper."

Oakenpaw asks, "Doog I have an aversion to Leaking how are you this night?"

Zocalo tilts his head at Oakenpaw's odd response but continues on anyways. "I'm good. Came out to see what's going on with those lizards and the ravens I've been hearing about."

Oakenpaw says, "oh well they are a ways out there....if you go over to them I am surethey woudl give you a tour..."

Zocalo gives the hare a dry look. "Really, do you know anything new or am I just wasting my time?"

Oakenpaw says, "Well I head we know an area where the feinds' base camp is"

Oakenpaw asks, "Did you know that?"

Zocalo shakes his head. "Nope. All I know is that we were attacked. And then someone told me Redwall was being attacked also. What's going on?"

Oakenpaw says, "The Champions evil brother wants us all to behis slaves"

Oakenpaw says, "thatsitin an acorn cap"

"Ah." Zocalo nods. "Well that makes sense. What's being done about it?"

Oakenpaw says, "Well we have a force, redwall has a force, and when we find the Blighter, we try to slay im"

Oakenpaw says, "but he has a army of raven crows"

"We have a force?" Zocalo looks dubious. "Who? You, me and Scioto? What force?"

Oakenpaw says, "oh there is a Patrol of long patrol hares, the GOUSIM, oh the evil fox has The Chief's daughter and Killed Sparkle and her unborn baby"

Zocalo sighs. "This would've been nice to know about. Why hasn't anyone said anything around town? I mean, c'mon, half of the beasts I've talked to have no idea what's going on."

Oakenpaw says, "We have been Chap..there's been town meetings"

Zocalo crosses his arms over his chest. "Yeah? When and where? No one ever told /me/. Which maybe wouldn't surprise me considering I'm an otter living in a vermin village but since /you/ know about them and you're a /hare/, that obviously has nothing to do with it."

Oakenpaw asks, "I dunno chap wot more ya want me ta say?"

Fiera has arrived.

Zocalo throws his paws into the air and grabs for his lantern. "I'm just saying that /maybe/ you'd get more help from beasts if you'd tell them what's going on."

Oakenpaw says, "well I just DID suh"

"Only because I asked, Mr. Gloryhound." Zocalo glares at the hare and prepares to head back into the village, frustrated with the conversation. "Maybe if this stopped being all about how much attention you can get for yourself we'd actually have a chance to win this thing."

Oakenpaw nlinks "I haven;t seen ya lad....

"Oh yeah? And who have you told that hasn't come asking?" Zocalo takes a deep breath, calming himself down. "We need someone to go around /telling/ everyone. What if beasts want to leave the village? Is it even safe to do that?"

A figure rises from the shadows and reveals herself. It's Fiera. She appears to have been listening for only a little while. "If they wish to leave the village, then so be it. But if they do, they'll of course run into that army... which /may/ be problematic."

Oakenpaw says, "Hello there, I am affriad you caught me with this chap a bit tweeked at me"

Zocalo looks over at Fiera and nods. "There. See? I'm glad to know that now." He stares pointedly at Oakenpaw after the comment about being upset. "Beasts have a right to know what's going on in their village."

Oakenpaw chuckles "ask me any time chap..but I am not gonna chase ya down

Fiera nods at Oakenpaw. "I heard." She glances at Zocalo, then comments, "They do. The invasion might have made that point..."

Firelight has arrived.

Zocalo shakes his head and gives up. "Well, let me know when you all manage to single-handedly defeat the raven army. The rest of us will be waiting with baited breath to hear about it. Oh, wait, I'll come find you, that's right. Hopefully you're not dead." Then, with a less than subtle eye roll, the otter returns to the village.
