Wrong Type of Captain
Characters: Aikuen, Kentar, Venei
Location: Moledeep; The Old Oak Tree
Its still raining. Just raining. Not much of thunder. And some otters are still outside. Aikuen and Venei are sitting by a tree. Near the pond. Venei is sleeping in Aiks lap. As the otter father pets her wet fur softly. Big rain drops plop onto their soaked and slicked fur. Just. Happy to be happy.
And out comes a stoat. Its Kentar! And he's wearing a jacket today, his paws buried in its pockets. "Afternoon Aik!" he smiles as he gets nearer. "How are you today?" he asks, speaking quieter this time after he spotted Venei napping.
Aikuen waves a bit at the stoat. Making no motion to silence the stoat in any way. So it must be okay for now, "Hey Kentar." he smiles and looks down at his daughter, "Not much. Just being lazy today with my little love-ilies" he grins, "So how has your day been, oh master stoat"
Kentar smiles and sits down next to the two otters, leaning against the tree as he folds his arms over his chest. "Oh, Its been good." he smiles. "Robin and I have been talking about the trip." he nods. "We're both looking forward to it. We've got some money all saved up to buy stuff!" he nods. "Not that we really need to save any up or anything." he chuckles.
Aikuen chuckles, "Oh. I'm all ready too. Just need to hit up the abbey for my money. Then im all set. Pretty much." he nods, "Oh really? What yah plan on buying? Rope? Nets?" He thinks about, "Shiny stuffs?"
The stoat chuckles a little bit. "Not sure. Whatever we want or need or stuff." he nods and then hums. "And you should do what I do with the money and all that." He nods with a grin.
Aikuen nods a bit, "Alright. I should have enough money to buy crap after i buy the ship" The last comment makes the otter blink, "You might want to say that again. And think it through." cause he didn't get it.
Kentar chuckles a little bit. "You should put your money where I put mine!" he grins. "My mattress" he laughs with a smile, nodding. "Its a great place" the stoat grins with a chuckle.
Aikuen ohs and shoves the stoat lightly, "OH! And no! I like where i keep my money! Its in a metal trunk at the abbey." he snorts, "In the mattress. Wow. What if we threw away the mattress on accident?"
Kentar laughs a little bit and hums, thinking for a few moments. "Why would we do that?" he asks, tilting his head. "Its an amazingly comfortable mattress." he chuckles. "Besides. Garnet knows the money is there. And you do too now." he smiles. "No way you'd throw it out.
Aikuen laughs, "I was just sayin! There is much better places for money then in a mattress! Isn't it lumpy?" he nods, "Even if i wanted too. The mattress weigh a freakin ton! And im to old for that crap."
Kentar laughs a little and nods slowly. "I suppose." he hums a little bit. "Well. Your not that old Aik!" he nods. "I'd not be surprised if you out lived me." he grins with a nod.
Aikuen shoves him again, all lovingly of course, "Oh, I am old! Don lie!" he chuckles, "But i suspect ill live to be a very ripe old age."
Kentar chuckles a little bit and sighs slightly. "I hope so." he nods slowly. "I really do. Best friend I've ever had. I'd kill you if you were to die long before me." he nods.
Aikuen chuckles and blinks, "But... Wait." he laughs. Reaching over to pat him on the shoulder, "Me too Buddy ole pal. Me too. Though if you killed me... if i die." he laughs again.
Kentar laughs a little bit and nods slowly. "Good point!" he nods with a smile. "Silly me!" the stoat grins. "But still." he nods firmly. "Don't die on me you ottery thing you." he pokes him lightly in the side.
Aikuen squirms at the poke, "Heyheyhey. I dont plan on dying anytime soon. Stop pokering me!" he chuckles, "And you better do the same! If you die! You'll leave me with the rats!" he fakes sniffs, "That would be dangerous!"
Kentar hums a little. "The rats! Erg. I wont do that to you Aik, I promise." he smiles with a quiet chuckle and then a yawn as he looks up to the cloudy sky. "I hope its not like this while we're on the ship." he nods.
Aikuen also looks up to the sky. Course he has a different opinion about it., "What? The rain? What's wrong the rain?" otters like the rain. Kinda like ducks they are.
Kentar hums a little and smiles. "Nothing. Just when it rains on the sea, it generally tends to be wavy and stuff like that." he nods. 'I don't want it to be like that. I want smooth sailing." he chuckles.
Aikuen nods, "Oh aye. Though a bit of rain is alright." he chuckles, "What if it was choppy the whole time!" he laughs. And Venei hrms.
Kentar hums a little bit and chuckles a little. "Uhm. I dunno. I don't think I'd want to go out on deck!" he chuckles a little. "I'd stay in the ship." he nods and hums. "Oh! Do Garnet and I get big quarters?" he asks. "We want a big room." he nods once.
Aikuen chuckles at the stoat, "HEY! Me and Fira get the first big room. Probably the Captains room, or something like that. But. Since you will be my first mate. You guys well get the first mates room!" he chuckles, "If it has such a thing"
Kentar laughs a little bit and hums slightly, nodding. "First mate's room sounds fine to me!" he laughs a little with a smile and a nod. "Its been so long since I've been on a ship." he pauses. "And not tied to the mast." he laughs.
Aikuen chuckles, "Oh don't worry. I'm sure Ella and Venei will tie you to the mast soon enough! And its been... 6 seasons? Since i was last on a boat" he nods, "Aye, that seems about right." he chuckles, "Though i wasn't tied to the mast during that time"
Kentar sighs and shakes his head with a quiet chuckle. "As long as they don't have a whip and throw me overboard, I'll be happy." He laughs a little bit with a smile.
Aikuen pats Venei on the head, "Darn. Well i tell her later that she cant do that then!" he stick out his tongue with a chuckle.
The stoat grins and nods. "Thanks Aik!" Kentar smiles bright. "But...if they wanted to, they could tie Chris to the mast and then tickle torture." he winks with a grin.
Aikuen laughs, "Oh They would just LOVE that. Though i think Chris might hide the whole time after that!" He then hums, "Oh. And Chris wanted me and Fira to have a boy. Instead of a girl. Thought that was kinda funny!"
Kentar hums a little and shrugs. "I'll keep him from hiding." he grins and then hums a little again, starting to laugh. "Hahah! What a silly stoat." he nods, shaking his head. "Out of curiosity, what do you want more, Aik? A son, or a third daughter?"
Aikuen chuckles and shrugs, "Fira is wanting a son. I think..." he then says, "Actually. I kinda do want a son also. After having three daughters. It only makes sense. Though i would be equally happy with either." he nods slowly.
The stoat nods again. "I'd sort of like another son eventually." he nods. "Or a daughter. Not sure actually." he hums a little with a chuckle, sinking back against his tree some more.
Aikuen snorts, "Another son? You already have two! How many more do you need!" he laughs, "What does Garnet want?" Sure she wants a girl. The tend to want them.
Kentar chuckles a little and shrugs. "She seems to avoid the topic actually." he nods. "So I haven't bothered to push it." he hums a little. "Yeah, I've got too, but I don't want to horrify poor Christopher. Having two otter girls love him, and then a stoat would probably make him go insane." He laughs.
Aikuen nods slowly, "Oh well. Hrm." he then laughs at the next part, "Oh. You know that would be downright funny. But Chris will be probably old enough to beat them off. At least. And stoaty daughter." he smirks, "Ella and Venei on the other paw" he laughs.
Kentar chuckles a little bit and nods. "Yeah." he smiles and hums a little bit. "Well. I dunno yet. We haven't really talked about it so." he shrugs as he looks up to the rain again.
Aikuen nods, "Well. Im sure she has her reasons. After Fira gave birth to twins. I thought that would be the end of that" he smiles, "I like kids. Im glad she said yes."
Kentar nods slowly. "Yeah." he hums a little. "Not too sure she wants another. I mean with two little otters, Chris, and the possibility of some little rats in the future, she might think there's enough around." he hehs a little and shrugs.
Aikuen snorts and nods, "Oh aye. She does love all the little ones. Don't she... I think she gets really attached to them. Maybe. The thought of even more scares her?" he shrugs.
Kentar shrugs a little and chuckles slightly. "Yeah. But you know, I think it would be alright if the next little stoat to appear would be one of Robin's and not mine.' he chuckles a little and thinks. "Doubt that will happen any time soon though." he hehs a little again.
Aikuen lightly punches the stoat, "Hehe! He hasn't even met anyone yet!" he snorts, "That would be interesting... GRANDPA KENTAR!" he laughs at him. And Venei hrms louder going to nom on his leg.
Kentar nods and then laughs a little bit, shaking his head. "True." he hums a little bit. "He liked Hannah. Too bad she had to leave." he nods. "But I'm sure he'll find someone. Hey, we're going boating! Might run into a pirate stoat he likes." he laughs.
Aikuen nod, "Oh he liked Hannah. I could tell that. Hopefully she and her kid are alright. We did offer for her to stay here. To bad she refused." he then rolls his eyes, "Oh my Kentar. Thats just what we need. Is a piratey stoat!" he laughs back.
Kentar hehs a little and thinks. "Well. We did get Kluna out of piracy. Might be interesting to see if Robin could do it too to someone much older then Kluna was.' he hums for a few moments.
Aikuen pulls on his chin, "True that. Lets see if Robbys charms can even do that. Though the less we run in with pirates the better." he nods forcefully, "Maybe he will just meet a stoat maid in distress... Kinda like you and Garnet!" he chuckles.
Kentar laughs a little bit and nods slowly. "Yeah. Then gets to save her from the eeeevil pirates!" he laughs with a hum. "Actually, that's a good idea." he thinks. "Although I doubt we'll find one like that.' he chuckles.
Aikuen shrugs, "Never say never mate. I bet from bread to breeches that exactly will happen on this boat trip!" he laughs, "And then i will tell him about it! And i will be a great seer to him!" he makes whimsical motions with his hands.
Kentar laughs a little bit and grins. "I bet you anything you like that it wont happen." he nods with a grin. "Up for the bet then Aik?" he offers out his hand with a nod. "The cosmic forces tell me you'll agree!" he grins.
Aikuen eyes the stoat, then eyes the paw. Then eyes the stoat again, "For real?" he asks, "Well. I. I dont know. I mean. I was just fooling..." he hrms for a second, "Ah... Okay then. Why not. Sounds like fun. How about... A weeks worth of chores?!" he says, holding out his own paw.
Kentar grins and hums. "Make that three." he laughs. "Because I want a good vacation at home." he nods. "What do you say to that, huh?" he asks with a grin.
Aikuen blinks and shakes his head, "Thats a little much mate. How about just two weeks. Met me in the middle?" he asks.
Kentar laughs and takes Aik's paw firmly, shaking it. "Deal! Two weeks and one minute." he laughs with a smile. "Still a grand old break for me." he nods.
Aikuen laughs and shakes back heartily, "Well okay! Two weeks and one minute. Though it will be ME who will be basking in the lack of chores mate. Not only that, i will be seer for a day!" he smirks.
Kentar smirks a little and nods. "I'm sure. Destiny will make you eat those words." he nods.
Aikuen shrugs and leans back, "Probably. But that doesn't stop me from going for it anyway." he laughs.
Kentar chuckles and nods. "Right. But you know. Lets not tell Robin, or he'll think we're trying to set him up!" he laughs with a bit of a hum.
Aikuen nods and waves a paw, "But of course. Wouldn't want to ruin it. Also! No persuading him either! We do nothing to alter his chances!" he points out. Venei has started to drool on his leg. She loves the sound of rain.
Kentar nods and smiles. "Agreed!" he chuckles a little bit and hums. "So, Aik." he hums a little. "Do you have a crew for the ship yet, or just us?" he asks, tilting his head.
Aikuen smiles and nods, "Good. And no. I dont have one yet. And no. We are not the crew. I plan to hire one. This is supposed to be lots of fun. And i dont want to do any work if i can help it." he hums loudly.
Kentar laughs. "Some captain you are!" he nods. "What sort of example for the crew are you supposed to set by lazing about?" he grins. "If I'm captain, I'll work my butt off!" he laughs.
Aikuen lightly punches him, "HEY! I was a captain through military efforts! Not on a ship! I was the watch on the ship i was on. I know very little of how to do things!" another little nudge, "Well. Your not captain. I am. and if they don't work hard. Then i don't pay them. Or throw them off the ship." he gives an evil grin.
Kentar laughs a little and hums. "Unlike you, I've captained three ships!" he nods. "The ship I was given when I turned of age, the ship that sank because it was ran into a reef when Lenai died..." he hums, pausing for just one second. "And the ship we took after we got married." he nods. "Oddly enough. I was only captain of the first until I handed it to Jasper, the ship that sank a week after it was launched." he then pauses. "And the ship that was renamed The Garnet for a couple of days.' he laughs a little.
Aikuen chuckles, "And Well... If that's your resume for being a captain. Then I don't want you to command this vessel. Just saying." he then laughs, "The Garnet? Really? Whatever happend to that particual ship?
Kentar smirks a little and hums. "Fine! Be that way." he folds his arms and smirks then thinks. "I'm not sure actually." he thinks. "Its Jasper's ship right now since I'm not there to use it. Not sure what its being used for right now."
Aikuen chuckles, "I will be that! Im going to spend my life saving on that ship. I don't need it to sink to the bottom of the ocean if i can help it." he then nods at the next part, "Probably being used for trade most likely. Looks like a good trading vessel when i saw it."
Kentar nods. "Yep!" He then chuckles a little. "I'm saving up my money for a good place to live when Garnet decides she wants to leave Moledeep. If she ever does. Saving enough for some place nice somewhere nice!" he nods.
Aikuen laughs, "I plan to use this ship for that purpose as well... Though i think Camp Willow is a more obvious approach for us otters." he nods a bit.
Kentar chuckles a bit and nods slowly. "Yep." he thinks for a few moments. "I hope the ship will find us a nice private island or something." he thinks. "That'd be nice." he chuckles before standing up. "Anyways, I'm going to go inside for a bit, I'll be back later." he nods, waving as he heads inside.
Aikuen nods, "Maybe. I only have one island in mind for us to HAVE to stop at. AND i'm not telling what it is. Rest is blind island hopping!" he chuckles and nods, "Alright. Ill be here for the rest of the day probably. Tell Fira im out here, thanks!" before picking up his daughter and nuzzling his daughter, "HEY! I love you... My little rudderkin...Hehehehe"
