Wrong Place At The Wrong Time

From Redwall MUCK Wiki

Somewhere along the Western Shore close to the Village of Halyard

Patcheye walks along the beach" we need a better location if we are to not be found, your shack could be easily found Magus."

Magus smirks "I assure you it won't be found that easily, it appears too old to be used. Maybe a ship we can use, perhaps yours as it is small"

Patcheye snorts, “The hares know of you, how many can ID you in a crowd by the way? None know me as of yet."

And the hare Baatar is on his way back from the village, he often walked on his own, or was in sneaked out, either way he liked to go to the village and visit a retired hare he knew well, one that had found him in fact those seasons ago and he has a knapsack full of some chocolates shaped like sea gulls, maybe a certain doe would like them. He grins and skips along and slows when he thinks he sees a familiar face and frowns as he gets closer, “Not....good" He whispers.

Magus answers "Not many...many at all" He catches site of the lone hare and smirks, “And perhaps one less hare to ID the seer and the other beast can happen today, this every time indeed."

Patcheye looks the direction the seer does and narrows his eyes, he is not one to ask questions first, he acts first and acts with quickness and speed as he slips out his throwing daggers and flicks one at the hare, afterwards he will go to charge towards him, drawing another dagger.

Baatar gasps and goes to try and get out of the way but the dagger sinks into his knee all the way to the bone. He yells out in pain and goes to bolt, two against one is not good odds and he doesn't fight to well with a dagger in his knee, but he trips and falls face first onto the sand, but he also goes to get up again.

Patcheye growls and goes to tackle the hare, His claws out .He is bigger than a hare, especially one that’s not yet fully an adult. If he succeeds he will lay a dagger at his throat, a dagger he holds in his left paw as he is left pawed and that’s very very rare.

Baatar barely has time to draw his saber and stab at the wildcat when he feels claws go into his back and the dagger at his throat. But he is a Long Patrol hare and he will fight back. He goes to head bunt the cat in the face.

Magus frowns as he watches, "Oh...that may leave a mark"

Patcheye is surprised as the hare throws his head back and the hare is rewarded with a bloody nose and a very peeved off wildcat, the saber sinks into his right paw, he growls and kicks at the hare and goes to try and force him to turn over and face him, “You making fatal mistakes hare!"

Baatar tenses up as the kick connects and tears come to his eyes from the pain of a broken rib, he is easily turned over and gets out bravely "You...you and that insane ferret will regret trying to take me captive."

Magus walks closer and looks down at the hare, "I already have a captive...perhaps I will have another soon, but I will have no interruptions, nor will my friend here...no, not from hares or from the key themselves.."

Patcheye growls, he then speaks “I have no clue who this key is..maybe it's you, maybe it’s not I could care less hare and who said you would be a captive?"

Baatar ears droop, "Key?..I bally well have no clue, I say ya both insane..I heard ya talking and I can confirm it too. You have Flare don't you, that’s my guess."

Magus studies the hare and his eyes narrow, "A clue you have, the key has spoken to you and you DO know them indeed, but no matter and yes we have Flare, not that it matters the other hares will not be hearing this info from you." He looks to the wildcat and then the hare and backs up a little, “But alas it was not I you have...angered so."

Patcheye lays a foot paw on the already hurting hare and puts away the dagger, he also yanks the other from the hare’s knee and wipes it off. He draws his longsword and lays it on the hare’s throat." You put your saber in my paw, you’re lucky I am left pawed, but that’s the only thing you’re lucky on this day." His voice is like ice.

Baatar bites his lower lip to not scream in pain, his rib was already broke and now it’s made worse when the foot paw presses into his chest, he also barely holds in a yelp when the dagger is free of his knee, but tears go down his face, and the long blade at his neck. He coughs and gets out, " I..will..NEVER..be no Slave...vermin scum, stupid..cat..."

Magus watches this as he stands nearby, he tilts his head “Your words speak true hare child...your life will never be one of a slave...now, in the past, or in the to be later"

Patcheye eyes narrow and he presses the longsword into the hare's throat and slides it across his throat, a deep gash will form and go across the hare's neck, his ears press against his head as he watches the hare, he decides to let the foot paw off his chest and step back from the hare, his sword now has the hare's blood on it.

Baatar is too focused on the ferrets words to realize, till it’s too late, what the wildcat was about to do and his eyes widen. So this is death..well, it's fairly quick after the wildcat backs off and the young hare loses a good deal of blood and passes out. His chest rises and falls for about a minute more before it comes to a complete stop.

Magus watches and seems bored, “A life slips into the forever forest, such is the circle of life..we are born..we live...then one day die." He looks to the wildcat “We should get the other hare to your ship soon, I do not think more death is to come today"

Patcheye wipes his sword on the hares uniform and puts the sword away before turning to the ferret," More trouble will likely come now, you let me handle what is done seer. This one was not skilled too well, others will be a lot more skilled most likely. And I am sure they have a leader..."

Magus tilts his head "Yes...all groups have leaders" He looks at the dead hare as he speaks to Patcheye, "Leave him on the sands or not the sands it the question."

Patcheye shakes his head "I could care less." He narrows his eyes at the ferret “You best be delivering what you promised too, I don't like waiting, if you excuse me I have a paw to get stitched up and bandaged and I know a trusted beast in town, you get that Flare hare and get him elsewhere besides that shack, I could care less if those long ears find the dead patroller...you have just under two weeks to get me my other promised slave." With that he walks off.."We talk later tonight Magus, Don't be late...trust me"

Magus just watches him head off and then looks over at the waves as they hit the beach, he then turns and goes to the shack, once inside he sits and he mediates, after all its just barely noon...he has time.

--later that night in town---

Patcheye has decided to be at a less busy any of the town; no one is around so he waits.

Magus walks into the area and soon finds the wildcat and makes his way over to him “So, this a good area in which to chat?"

Patcheye grins "Yes it is, less beasts and a much better place to discuss things of interest...to me"

Magus nods "Much is of interest to you it would seem, my pet watches the lone hare guest of ours"

Patcheye smirks "It was fun earlier today, a best gets a certain rush killing another, and it's more fun to enslave a beast against their will. And I expect to have a 2nd slave soon; you did promise or foretold whatever of something of interest to me."

Magus says, "Of course, the troubled one..of the Winters clan, she will be most easy to capture once she is alone and not with friends.." He closes his eyes "A week....maybe a week and a half yes this I can tell" He opens his eyes

Patcheye nods "A badger you claim, I am unsure of seers so you best not fool me and that does fall within my two week deadline. I am also unsure of how well your falcon guards things."

Magus eyes narrow "A seer always speaks true, sometimes misunderstood but true. Her mind be cloudy as if in a storm that gets worse and worse, she lost the key and a rare one to open it again is needed, but if in your grip she is, the key could so fail and forever lost would she be and that’s the worse kind of lost there is...to be lost in one’s own mind"

Patcheye says, "Whatever, but being troubled helps me more, those beasts are more easily controlled and broken, or broken even more if that the case"

Magus says, "Yes, there is also the matter of gold, as beasts are not..free" He laughs at his own thinking" So I deliver the 2..maybe more, and you deliver the gold or the goods yes?"

Patcheye says, "I give gold or other items once I have what I want, unless of course you offer the hare. I may think of part of the payment now"

Magus answers "I am not a fool either Patcheye, you could easily leave and then where would I be...my former boss seemed revenge and he was not able to complete it before his end came...what better way to seek revenge and cause the most pain and lost that taking away an enemies freedom, make sure it’s known to whom it needs known and sit back and enjoy a victory of sorts."

Patcheye says, "Don't disappoint me Seer, or your regret it...we got lucky when the one patroller came across us, one..it could of easily been more, one is easy to kill when needed, after one it gets more tricky, not that I would not enjoy killing more of them and watching life light leave them, its.." He smiles coldly " Fun..."

Magus listens, maybe a little edgy of the wildcat as the cat is bigger than himself but he has ways to overpower even a wildcat if he so wanted to, he nods "I do not plan to disappoint But I do suggest not killing any more of the hares, it will draw attention one way or another."

Patcheye says, "If a hare gets in my way or is a witness like the one earlier today...then they will die, or if I am in a good mood I shall make them a slave, but I am rarely in a good mood so there less than a 1% chance a hare crossing me...will live, I have things to do seer so I bid you good eve" He turns to leave the area ."And less than 2 weeks.....remember"

Magus does remember things, it’s hard for most seers to forget anything, he then walks away himself to get back to his captive and his falcon.
