Winter Lasts Too Long
Characters: Aikuen, William, Amethyst, Fira, Garnet

Aikuen is laying on the floor, near the fire. Yes. On the floor. He looks to the ceiling as he taps his paws against his chest. OH! There is a little otter with him today. Venei lays on his stomach, tapping her rudder slowly. Napping it seems. Aik hums lightly, not being able, nor wanting to move from his position.
"Watch out. There's otters on the floor. By the fireplace," Will says grinning over at the otters as he comes out from the study
Amethyst follows Will out. "Little otters?"
Aikuen tilts his head so he can see the rat, "Well hello to you too." he whispears, "Yes a little otter. And one not so little!" he snorts quietly
William waves at Aik. "Having fun Pa? Did you tire her out or did she tire you out and you just woke up before she did this time? I suppose Ella's with Mum or Garnet unless she's off hiding somewhere. ..." He takes Amy's arm to guide her around the otter if she'll let him.
Amethyst lets Will guide her around the otter hazard. She stands with her back to the table looking toward where she thinks Aik's voice came from, that is toward the fire and slightly downward. "It's dangerous to lay in the floor like that. Are they still a pawful as ever?"
Aikuen slowly starts to rub right at the base of Venei's ears, "The last. And Ella is with Fira, yes. Helping with the chores." Well, watching is more likely. He tilts his head over toward Amy, "Its not dangerous! Except for my back perhaps... And there just full of energy. I just don't know where they get it from!" he chuckles.
William asks, "You couldn't moved her a little so you could sit up?"
Amethyst shakes her head with a smile. "Dangerous for you're back and my ... everything. You and that stoat are just waiting for me t break my neck one of these days aren't you?" she jests, as Kentar has been known to move the furniture around without warning to practice his knife throwing.
Aikuen says, "I could... She would just pop off to sleep again... But I don't wanna!" he grins stupidly, "And Amy. We're out of the way enough. So unless you were planing to sit by the fire. You would have been alright for moving around... I would have warned you then."
William smiles and plops down next to the otters. He strokes Venei's head and back gently, sitting with his back against the wall next to the fireplace. "She was but I don't think she will be right now. You and her are a lot alike. Neither of you appreciate the snow. Yes it's cold out but we have a nice warm home to stay in if we get too cold. It's ideal. We can enjoy the winter outside without any worry but you two wouldn't move far from the fire if you didn't have to" Will says
Amethyst crosses her arms over her chest and scowls in Will's direction but says nothing. She'll let the otter tell him off.
Aikuen snorts, "You know what Spring is like? Thats winter weather where im from. It never snowed. Ever. And i was used to it. So. I will stay near the fire thank you. Until the snow has left us..." he hrms and chuckles, "You can go and prance in the snow all you like ta!" Venei's rudder bounces faster when she is stroked.
William says, "Since you never grew up with snow you should take advantage of it now that it's so available to you. It's not that bad really. It's much worse farther north or near either coast where they're aren't trees around to cut the wind down so much. You two don't know how lucky you are."
Amethyst continues to scowl at Will. "You know you aren't going to win this," she says at last.
Aikuen shakes his head, "I've seen the snow. I've falling in the snow. Ive gotten hit by the snow. I think I'm good with the snow for life..." he tilts his head, "Lucky? About Cold icy painful water?" he stretches his arm toward the rat, "Tell yah what. You drag me up there. And I will 'enjoy' the snow..." he grins.
Amethyst moves so that the table is between her and the others in case Will would rather go after a easier target. "If you go Aik be sure to 'enjoy' the snow on my behalf as well." She's smiling a little now as she's sure Aik would make Will regret dragging him out to the snow if he ever finds a way to get the otter out in it.
Aikuen chuckles and when Will says that, he goes wide eyed, "Uhh... No..." he reaches over and grabs a nearby chair, "No... You dont have too... Im good... Just right here...." he laughs awkwardly, "Don't worry Amy. If I got out. Ill make sure to 'enjoy' it... And even bring you some as well."
Amethyst waits til she can't hear any sound from Will and wonders aloud, "Now where could one hid a large otter around here I wonder I doubt you can fit in that hole off the storage chamber like I can."
Aikuen sighs, "No wait!... Crud..." he sighs and snorts, "I'm not going without a fight..." he hrms, reaching out and grabbing a few chairs. And after a few minutes he is holding onto five chairs, "Lets see them try now..." Venei is still napping on his belly, unaware of anything that might go down. The rat shortly returns with the mother otter and she smirks at Aik, "Well?" "Heyo..." he grips the chairs, "No. I'm not going!"
William scoops up Venei, "I'll take this." He cradles his sleeping sister as Fira deals with Aikuen.
Amethyst takes this opportunity to escape into the kitchens. "Sorry, Aik but looks like you're on your own."
Aikuen blinks as his daughter is taken away, "Hey! Hey! Hey!..." so much for his backup plan. He ergs and brings the chairs closer, "You wouldn't dare Fira..."
"Really..." she smirks and goes over picking up his rudder and pulling on it. "
Hey! OW! Thats mine! That's connected to me! Argh! Your pulling it from the roots!" he chuckles and ergs.
Fira chuckles lightly, "That's the point!"
"Argh! No!" He gets pulled lightly but remains quite well in that spot, "Haha! Cant move me!"
Fira drops his rudder and goes over, nudging his side with her footpaw.
Aik acks and accidentally trips his wife, who falls on top of him. Aik loses all the air and he says, "... OW... Well hello!" he chuckles, and Fira frowns and smirks. Aik grins, "Chair?"
William holds Venei in one paw and stifles laughter with the other as his parents look very silly. He slips off into the kitchen to pass Venei off to Garnet if possible and maybe see where Amy's gotten off to.
Fira pokes him in the sides with her paws at the chair joke, "Why you! Take this!"
Aik ergs loudly. He is not ticklish there, but it causes his muscles to freak out all the same, "Argh! Hey! Ooo! Hey! Watch it! Not There!" he holds her back, but she wants vengeance! Aik is pinned to the ground by the pokes and he swacks at her paws. To get them away, "Hey! Stop it! Your so mean!"
Fira can't hear him, and continues. Not like she would stop, even if she did hear him.
After a bit Fira lacks in her tirade, giving Aik an opportunity to get up, "Ug! Ohho! Heh..." he grins.
Fira grrs and grins back at him.
Aik goes wide eyed and holds up his paws, "Nooooo!" He steps back a few paces, before throwing down a chair sideways and running off in the other direction.
Fira chases after him, after a graceful vault over the fallen chair.
Aik and Fira run around the hall. Just like little otters. But... bigger. Aik jumps up on the table and Fira is soon to follow, "Hey now... Fi... How about a truce..." he breaths out heavily.
She smirks and squats, "One... two..." she says in between breaths.
Aik nods and squats as well, keeping his eyes on her.
She smiles at him, and counts slower. Both catching their breath, "Nine.......ten!" she hops up and charges Aik.
Aik has a little trouble standing. He can't run away fast enough. So when he does stands he holds up his paws and they lock together with hers, "Hey... You're learning..."
"A special beast taught me..."
"Oh really?"
"Oh yes. He is a..." she twits her paws, trying to throw him to the ground, "Big ottery silly..." she smirks.
Aik ergs a the twist, and counters with his own, "Really. I should meet him!"
"Probably like him!"
She tires to throw him once more, but Aik was prepared.
Aikuen leans with the twists and places his leg around Fira's, then pulling back on it.
She ergs as her leg leaves the ground, and Aik pushes forward. Throwing her back.
But Aik wont let her fall! Right when she begins to tilt back, he places his free paw behind her back to catch her, "I gotcha!" And then tightly hugs her her arms to the side.
Fira erks and tries to move. But she is not even touching the ground anymore, "Hey! No fair... Let me go Aik!" she wiggles.
Aik scrunches his nose at her, "Hmm. Have to think about that... Im gonna have to go with... a no!" he grins, and slowly places her on the ground, "I'm gonna let you go... Dont hurt me!" he laughs and lets go.
When Fira is free she scrambles away, going in for another charge.
Aik blinks, "You're one tough cookie! Okay! One more!" And he raises his paws getting prepared.
Fira charges him, but instead of locking paws, she jumps into him, wrapping her arms around his neck.
Aikuen blinks as he is shoved back, going to catch her, "Whoa! Hold on! I gotcha...WHOA! NO I DON'T!" and he falls back onto the table with a loud thump.
Fira then goes to pin him to the ground. Aik struggles, but Fira grins at him, "Say it!"
"NO! That was cheating!"
"...SAY IT!"
"Fine..." he sighs, "You are the best fighter in the whole world"
"Bingo!" she chuckles and leans in to kiss him.
Aik chuckles quietly at the kiss, "Hey..."
"Hey..."
"We made a mess... And we set a bad example..."
"They're not watching!"
"I should hope not!" he chuckles and wraps his arms around her as well. After a bit Aik licks her nose, "You know... We're still on the table..." he laughs.
Fira shakes her head and chuckles quietly, "Yes... Yes we are..." and she hops off him. They both sit on the table itself, and they cuddle. Looking at the mess, they made in the hall
Amethyst had ducked into the pantry when she'd heard Will coming after her but she couldn't get out through the hall with otters crashing about so she was trapped.
Will had passed Venei over to Garnet who had taken the babe off to the sleeping hall to put her under Kentar's care who had been watching Christopher, Kluna and Ella with Robin's help. Between Kentar and Robin the little ones got looked after and Garnet was able to return to the kitchen.
Amethyst had settled down on the floor of the pantry between the door to the kitchen and the door to the hall.
It didn't' take long for Will to find her but Garnet was too happy about the pantry being taken over by the rats so they were put to work since Garnet was busy cooking and neither rat wished to pass the otters in the hall in order to escape the stoatwife.
Garnet would order Will about the kitchen and Amy, who for her own reasons remained in the pantry/larder, was called upon whenever something was needed from there. She would pass whatever it was to Will who'd check it and give it to Garnet so that she didn't' have to leave anything cooking unattended. Though Will was prone to dilly-dallying in the pantry from time to time. Garnet kept a close eye on both rats and a closer one on the pantry's inventory.
