Wife's Wishes.
Characters: Kentar, Garnet
Location: Moledeep; Cruz's Quarters
After a long night of thinking and a long morning of thinking, Kentar comes into his room and rubs his head a little bit. He's not sure really what to say to Garnet about the training thing and he's scared to know what she'll say about it.
Garnet is sitting one the bed with a small box, and the two mini otters. It seems the older otters haven't come to pick them up yet. Which is okay with her. The box is full of old papers and Garnet is cycling through them until Kentar comes into the room, "Hey Kenty" she smirks and laughs. Ella and Venei are still asleep and the bundles they are in, lightly raise and fall to their breathing. Garnet looks a bit tired, but seems alright.
Kentar smiles softly and looks towards the sleeping forms, chuckling quietly, leaning over to give his wife a kiss on the cheek before changing tunics quickly. He sits down and slips his arm around her after a few moments. "How's my beautiful wife, hmm?" he smiles. He only ever greets her that way when there's something wrong. Hopefully she won't notice much.
Garnet smirks at the kiss, then she watches him change. She then goes to eye him at his words. She has an idea, "Hmmm.... I'm alright... still watching the otterbabes... They bit me!" she shows her claw up, then tucks it in her paw, "And I've been going though an old recipe box i found in the kitchen... So..." she closes the box, "What wrong with you?"
Kentar chuckles a little bit at the otters and grins. "They bite everyone love! Its what they do!" he chuckles before sighing. "I'm..." he thinks. "I asked Aik to train me to fight properly so that nothing like what happened on our trip happens again." he starts.
Garnet sticks her tongue out at the otters, "Chris didn't bite... You both need to learn not to bite beasts..." she frowns slightly before picking up Ella and cant help but smile. She then looks up at Kentar's words, "Hrm? You did..." she blinks a little bit and tilts her head, "... I know you want to protect me... us..." she knows nothing of how the training will actually be.
Kentar nods slowly and chuckles as she picks Ella up. "Yeah, they will." he smirks before nodding slowly. "Yeah. Us." he says, giving her a hug. "I really can not stand the thought of anything happening and me not being able to do anything about it." he then looks to the floor. "But the training is going to be hard. Very hard." he nods. "And there's something you should know, love." he nods once.
Garnet shrugs a bit, "You know your not useless right?... You do have some power to protect us... as you have shown before..." taking about when he saved her. Her brows crease when he says that last part, "It is?" kinda guessed that. Sort of, "What is it Kentar? Do you need to get something to help in the training? Like go away?" she ergs lightly at that.
Kentar nods a little. "But not much power." he nods slowly. He then shakes his head, leaning in to kiss her cheek again softly, reaching to take one of her paws. "There's a chance I could die at the end." he says with a slow nod. "But I wont. I promise. I promise."
Garnet smirks at the kiss, and then when her paw is taken she smiles a little bit... Until he said 'die'... Her paw instantly clenches up in his, "There is a what?" thinking that she miss heard it. She hopes she miss heard it.
Kentar squeezes her paw tightly and goes to give her a kiss, a long one this time. "There...is a chance I might die at the end." he takes a deep breath.
Garnet is not in a very good mood, so the kiss is more or less one sided. She blinks at him still, still very confused, and now very concerned. Oh the emotions, "There is a chance you could die... at the end of the training... What? Why? How?" she bombards him. Something she was not really expecting to hear, from training, "Isn't it supposed to help you live... not kill you..."
Kentar sighs. "Yes." he says quietly. "There's a test at the end I want to take. It tests willpower. And if I pass. I'll know I can fully protect you. But. It. Might kill me." he says quietly.
Garnet she blinks at him, not getting these words fully. And she will express it, "The test might kill you... No... If you die, how will you protect us then?" going to have to talk to Aikuen about this, "Cant you do the training... without that test..." she really doesn't want to take that chance.
Kentar squeezes her paw tightly. "Yes. I can. But I need it. Please love, just trust me." he says. "Aikuen survived it back when he had nothing to live for. I have you to live for and that's enough to keep me alive."
Garnet removes her paw from his, "Yes. I'm sure he did. But he didn't have any loved ones to keep him from doing it... Want if you die... What if you DIE Kentar.... Just from some test?" she shakes her head, "I don't think... we could handle that... if you died... Are you really going to put that gamble on us..." that must have hurt.
Kentar sighs and looks away. "I wont die. I promise to you, I will not die." he looks back slowly. "You have no idea how it feels to have almost lost you four times in a row. First, the fox got me. Then he got you and I ended up in the western sea. Then he stabbed me while saving your life. And then the trip. How do you think it feels to not be sure if I can protect you. I want everything I can get. I really do."
Garnet she blinks at him, and looks down at her paws. She starts to fiddle with them, for a long... long... long time. She sighs and nods slowly, "I understand... But... " she shakes her head, "Though i don't want you too... i... i understand..." her voice is a bit stuttered, "I just don't want to take the chance... no matter how slim it might be... to lose you... for something that you have a choice over..."
Kentar sighs a little and takes the long...long...long time to think to himself. He looks up after a moment after she spoke again, nodding slowly. "I...I'll think about it love." he says quietly. "I want to take that test to be sure. Without being sure. I feel...unsafe. And nervous." he leans over to give her a comforting hug.
Garnet is still feeling cold toward him, but when he gives the hug, most of it washes away. As she hugs him back, "You will?... Its just not something..." she shakes her head, as she places it on his shoulder, "Well maybe the test... Maybe you can... Maybe you can ask to not let it be too hard... Still test your will... but... no chance of actually killing you..." she is hopeful.
Kentar hrms a little bit, nodding slowly. He thinks for a few moments before nodding. "I'll ask Aik about it." he says. And then after a few more moments. "I'll see what else there is that we might be able to do instead." he says with a tight hug. He closes his eyes and rests his head on hers lightly.
Garnet nods and smiles a little bit, "Thank you Kentar... love..." she kisses him slightly.
Kentar smiles softly and kisses her back. "I just want the best for the best beast in the world." he chuckles softly.
Garnet cant help but smirk at him, and add a little nudge to the mix, "Sure have a funny way of showing it!" she chuckles and mmms.
Kentar chuckles slightly and sighs. "Aik wasn't really loving the idea either, if it makes you feel better." he says quietly. "I'll only do it if there's no other way. But I'm sure I'll find another way."
Garnet would hope so. She hopes that Aik doesn't get a kick from bringing beasts to death, "See... we all just... don't want you to die... We love yah too much! And I'm sure there is another way... Aik WILL think of another way..." she nods forcefully. There better be, or else he is getting another talking too. May get Fira in on that as well.
Kentar nods softly and sighs. "Alright. We'll find another way. And I will not take the full test." he gives her a tighter hug and just closes his eye. "I'm sorry." he whispers.
Garnet smiles, and then tilts her head, "Sorry? Sorry for what?" she is confused. It all seem to have worked out all right. She doesn't see the need for it.
Kentar hrms and ohs. "For er. Worrying you. And stuff." he nods with a smile.
Garnet oh and nods, "Its okay... I'm just glad you told me first..." So she could talk it out of you, "I just cant help it. I love you too much... and i don't want to see you die... That's all... I'm sure you can understand that at least..." she chuckles.
Kentar nods slowly and chuckles. "And I love you too much...to say no to you." the stoat chuckles quietly. "I love you just way too much for that."
Garnet smirks at him and nudges him going to pluck Venei from the bed, "You better..." she sticks her tongue out and grins evilly, "Or else I'm going to teach the mini otters to attack you... See how you like getting bit..." she grins.
Kentar laughs and then cowers. "No! No! Please! Anything but being bitten! I beg you!" he laughs before leaning down to wiggle his finger in Venei's face a little bit. "Heya...you won't bite me, will you?"
Venei blinks up at the claw and tries to reach for it. She only really bites if she is having too much fun. She tires to grab for the claw instead, smiling. Garnet chuckles, "Trying to sway them with claws? Tsk Tsk Kentar..." she smiles. Pushing that other stuff away for now.
Kentar lets Venei take his claw, chuckling a little. "I'm sure it will work! Eventually." he nods once before taking his paw back and hming. "So love. Robin and I have been talking. And he said that he really dislikes your cooking. Would rather eat dirt." he nods. Payback for taking Christopher's marbles.
Garnet phooeys Kentar and then blinks in surprise, "He said wha?" its like telling her she is ugly. You just don't go there, "He said that? Well... you can tell him... that i wont be cooking for him anymore... that'll teach him to diss my cooking... let him cook his own dang food..." she hmphs.
Kentar nods once and gives her a hug. "Don't worry love, I'll tell him that." he laughs. "He'll regret the day he ever said that!" the stoat grins. He doesn't bother saying how much Robin actually loves her cooking.
Garnet nods, "You better... and maybe he will understand what i go through... Ima good chef..." one of her many talents, "Its hard... to cook for otters and rats... then us... Then Aik has that whole.. cant it real food thing... and Amy is picky... its all just.... graaa!" she ergs and chuckles, "Heh... sorry love!"
Kentar chuckles a little bit and nods. "Don't worry love! Remember? He can eat that cake I can make for him." he chuckles. "So. He can eat some stuff." he hugs before standing. "Anyways love. I'm going to go find Chris. I'll see you later! And oh, I'll help with cooking from now on!"
Garnet shoos Kentar away with a paw. Cooking is not hard its just complicated with the family, "You don't have too... But thanks all the same... Bye love... Hopefully the otters can take their bundles today..." she chuckles and pokes one in the nose, before going through the recipes again.
