Why Can't Things Go Right?

From Redwall MUCK Wiki

Characters: Kentar, Garnet

Location: Moledeep; Kitchen, Rose Garden

Its a nice evening out and in, the smell of fresh bread being baked in the kitchen drifts through the halls of moledeep. And the one baking, is a stoat. Its Kentar. He's not doing much now, standing in front of the oven, watching his bread bake.

Garnet comes into the kitchen, just about to start at dinner. When the smell of bread stops her. She blinks and enters the kitchen and smiles at Kentar, "Oh hey Kenty!" she grins at him, before going to put on her apron, "Whacha making? Your usually not in here a lot?"

Kentar hums and looks up. "Hey love!" he smiles, going over to give her a hug and a kiss. "Making bread! You know its our special day!" he laughs a little bit. Okay, its evening but he wont correct himself. "I thought, that part one of your gift..I'd cook tonight!" he smiles.

Garnet she blinks and ergs at the hug and kiss, going to push him away, "Yes yes... I know..." she smiles as she takes off her apron then, "Awww.... Really? Heh..." she goes to sit on one of the stools, watching him, "Part one eh?" she smirks.

Kentar chuckles and nods slowly. "Yeah." he smiles. "Really!" he then grins. "Yes. Part one. Part two is a special secret!" The stoat chuckles before leaning in to take the bread out of the oven. Its done. Been there for a while but only now started smelling like bread. He sets it down to cool before nodding and pointing to a pot that's cooking away. "Stew!" he chuckles. "I figured whatever you can make, I can make too!" he nods.

Garnet rolls her eyes, "Apparently only the simple stuff though it seems!" she laughs, and mmms, "Thank you love! Now get to pouring, before the others smell it and get here!" she laughs.

Kentar chuckles and nods slowly. "You know I'm not a great cook!" he laughs. "Only you are in our family." he chuckles. "Yes, I will cook. No, I will not cook good." he laughs before starting to bowl up the stew. "Don't worry. Part two will make up for the bad dinner." he chuckles. He's not -that- bad of a cook.

Garnet chuckles, "I now your not! But you made this for me. So it makes it perfect!" she grins and sits on her paws, "I know Kentar! Just get to pouring, and i will get to eating!" she laughs.

Kentar laughs and nods slowly. "Hehe, thanks love!" he smiles, handing her over a bowl of stew and then a spoon. "Enjoy!" he smiles, sitting down and staring at her, hoping she likes it.

Garnet takes the bowl and spoon, and watches him back, "I will... but... You are going to have to stop staring at me!...Just for a few seconds..." she grins and starts to spoon a little bit of the stew. She mmms lightly and nudges him, "Oh its awful...heh!" Its really good actually.

Kentar laughs and nods slowly, turning away before staring again. "Drat!" he snaps his fingers. "I'll try harder next time. Since its awful, you wont have any." he nods. "You can make your own." He reaches out to take the bowl.

Garnet bats his paw away and holds the bowl away from him, "You shall do no such thing! I'm going to eat this... and you are going to rip me some bread... Yep!" she nudges him with her elbow.

Kentar laughs and nods slowly grinning. "Yas ma'am!" he chuckles, going over to cut some bread for her. He returns the nice, fresh, warm bread to her and smiles. "Anything for you love."

Garnet takes the bread, and dips a hunk in the soup. She smirks at him, "Yes yes. Now... Whats next?" she looks up at him, and smiles.

Kentar laughs a little bit and smiles. "That's all I made for dinner." he chuckles with a smile. "I can make something else if you'd like.

Garnet finishes off the bowl and bread, and places it on the counter. She shakes her head, "Not what i meant love... I mean what's next... You said this was part one! What's the other things!" she is on pins and needles.

"Oh!" Kentar laughs and smiles. "Well." he hrms, extending his paw to her. "You'll have to follow me love!" he grins with a quiet chuckle.

Garnet she rolls her eyes, and takes his paw, "Making me get up! I was getting all comfortable and everything!" she laughs, "Okay... lead the way love!"

Rose Garden

The stoat leads his wife out to the rose gardens. Yes, Bale's grave is here, but its the most beautiful part of Moledeep. So Kentar doesn't mind ignoring his brother for a bit. Although being here, does make him want to cry. Oh well. "So love." he sits down on the grass.

Garnet just completely ignores the grave. Just something she never ever wants to think about. One of the reasons she never goes to the rose garden anymore. She doesn't like it. But she does follow all the same, "So what?" she sits down next to him, crossing her legs.

Kentar smiles a little bit. "Here." he pulls out a long, thing box and hands it out to her. He showed it to Aik while they were on the eastern shores, and he managed not to lose it. "Open it!" inside is the golden necklace with a small ruby, and the golden ring, with the small ruby. He rubs his paws together nervously to see if she likes it.

Garnet takes the box, and can expect what's coming. Oops! No She cant! When she opens the box she squeaks loudly, "Holy... Oh Kentar!" she bounces in her seat a little bit and grins, "Oh they are beautiful Kentar!" she goes up and hugs him tightly, "Thank you So much!"

Kentar smiles and laughs when he's hugged, the stoat hugging back tightly. "I'm glad you like them love." he smiles, leaning into give her a soft kiss before grinning like an idiot. "Now...where's my gift!?" he pauses before bursting into laughter.

Garnet smiles and of course kiss him back, before putting the ruby one on her opposite paw of her wedding ring. Leave the necklace right where it is. She goes wide eyed at the mention of a gift. She has never heard of that. Its usually the male. She pushes him away slowly, "The gift is, that i don't beat you to a pulp... since you didnt forget our anniversary..." she eyes him and laughs.

Kentar laughs and nods slowly. "Its just what I wanted!" he chuckles and hugs her. He knows, and he was just playing around. "Want me to help put the necklace on?" he asks, tilting his head to one side.

Garnet shakes her head, "Nah. That's alright. It just too much... maybe later... during special occasions..." she leans in and plucks him on the lips, "Heh... It would distract from my face..." and she doesn't want that!

Kentar laughs a little bit and smiles, slipping his arms around her again. "Heh, alright love." he smiles before shaking his head. "Nah, it wouldn't!" he replies, smiling. "I'm glad you like them love." he nods slowly.

Garnet nudges him, "Of course i like them!" They came from him. That's all that matters. She slips her arm around him as well, but keeps her head down a little bit, as she rests it against his shoulder. Keeping her gaze off the garden.

Kentar mms softly and nods. "Heheh, good." he nods slowly, closing his eyes after a little bit. The stoat thinks quietly, not saying much right now, enjoying the time with his wife. "Love." he says quietly. "Something I've been wanting to talk to you about." he says.

Garnet is enjoying it. Despite the face where they are. She blinks and looks up at him and tilts her head, "Hmm? What is it?"

Kentar hms a little bit and thinks about how to say it. "I was thinking love...maybe..erm." he pauses. "I was wondering I guess, maybe, sometime." he's not good at words apparently. "If you'd like to have another young'un." he finally gets out. "You know. Someone Chris can grow up with that's actually a stoat." he chuckles slightly.

Garnet blinks at him and she actually removes her paw from around him. She starts to fiddle with with her other paw, "Ummm..." she has made up a decision in her mind a long time ago. About that particular subject. Never told him, "Ummm no... No, i don't think so..." she nods a little bit, "No... Besides by the time... if... if we do have another one... by the time Chris will be able to play with him or her... he would be old enough to probably not care... at all..."

Kentar hums and sits up a little bit, the stoat tilting his head before smiling softly. He gets that she probably doesn't want another, so he won't push it. "Are...you sure love? I mean..." he thinks for a few moments. "If you don't want another, that's fine." He says quietly. Does sound a little disappointed. "Just thought it would be nice...you know, for Chris to have a little brother or sister." he nods once. He's not pushing it. And he wont either.

Garnet seems a little off put, cause even though he is trying not too. It does sound like he is pushing it. But it wont work, "I'm sure Kentar..." and snorts at his logic, "Then the next one we have, would need another little sister or brother... You see the cycle here?" he shakes her head, "Chris has got two older bothers... and now... two younger aunts... If i got that right... Chris is going to grow up just fine..." she hmphs slightly.

Kentar blinks a little bit. "What in the world are you talking about?" he asks. "Yes...he does. But. no he doesn't." he rubs his head. Thinking about the way their 'family' is really makes his head hurt. "Will isn't his brother...or uncle...but he is. And no aunts. But he does. Kluna, yes, is his brother, but no...he's not. Its." he pauses. "Making my head hurt." The stoat rubs his head for another few moments before shaking it slowly. "Chris just said the other day he wanted a sister too, like Will has." Chris is a kid, and is jealous, of course. "So I just thought I'd bring it up is all." he really doesn't want to argue.

Garnet doesn't want to argue, but Kentar is making her. She rubs her temples "Listen... It doesn't matter if they really are! Who they are. Okay? Just because Will is not a stoat. Doesn't make him less of and uncle. And just because Kluna is a weasel, doesn't make him less of a brother... As long as they act like it... then that's what they will be... Yes our family is weird... but we have it good here alright... Why does it have to be stoat stoat stoat!... I grew up in a vermin family. I hated it. And now Chris is growing up in a family that is mix. But you have to make him think, that he doesn't have a brother... just because he is not a stoat... You make me sad..." she turns from him and looks off toward the garden.

Kentar frowns. "I just...asked." he says. "And you had to go and make a huge deal about it." The stoat stands and walks off. "Happy anniversary." he says, leaving the gardens and going back inside. He'll be sleeping in the sleeping hall tonight. What an end to a pretty good day.

Garnet scoffs, "You just asked? I'm the one who made a big deal? Yeah... And then you started pushing to have another kid again. Saying that Chris practically has no other family... He has got more family then her could ever dream of!" she takes a deep breath and Kentar is gone. She blinks and shakes her head. Kentar, always, does that. She takes another deep breath, before moving herself to a tree, to rub her temples, "Happy Anniversary Kentar... Next time... you will stop pushing me..." she sighs and starts to cry.

After a few minutes of feeling like crud for making his wife cry on their anniversary, Kentar slowly made his way back into the rose garden, looking to see if Garnet's still here. He spots her and slowly moves over to sit next to her, going to give her a hug, sighing to himself quietly. "I'm sorry love. I didn't mean to make it seem like I was pushing you." he says quietly.

Garnet was feeling like crud herself. Rereading what was said between them. She sobs quietly and when she is hugged, she grabs onto him, like there is no tomorrow, "No Kentar... I'm sorry... I just didn't want another kid... i was on edge... I love you so much... I didn't mean to make you mad... I'm sorry... I love you... Happy Anniversary..." she buries her head in his neck/shoulder area.

Kentar hugs her tightly and closes his eye, thinking to himself. "Its fine love, its fine." he whispers to her, the stoat nodding slowly. "Happy anniversary." he says softly, the stoat still hugging tightly, not letting go anytime soon.
