What Benar did when he left Redwall....he visited Ferravale! :D

From Redwall MUCK Wiki

FV:Town Center

The gravelly path through the village gets wider the further into the village it travels until at the centre of the village it splits off into four around a large firepit just waiting for any excuse for a feast or celebration and still showing the bones and a few broken mugs from the last one around the edges. A large longhouse for meetings has been built on one side of the road, standing important, decorated with carved wood, shields, weapons, furs and a large skull over the door with the large similarly fearsomely decorated house of the chief sitting proudly beside it.

Meek in comparison across the road a smaller wooden building bares a misspelled sign over the door naming it the 'Infermery'. A few trees dot the edges of the clearing but buildings take over in most directions, only the north showing some vegetation within the village walls. To the west houses seem to spring up and take over the land while noise and masses of beasts take over the south around the market and shops. Down the eastern trail the village gates can just be seen with the tavern close by.

Benar the squirrel. Nightbreath the ermine. Blisa the cat, Basilisk the whiptail snake, and Ferdinand the ferret.

Benar is in town! Of all the squirrels in all of Mossflower, Elder Benar is in the town. He's not alone he has a young mouse with him dressed in the robes of a brother as well as two abbey guards trailing him. He is talking quietly to the mouse beside him as they start across the town centre. Beasts are stopping and staring, some are smiling, a few bow or wave and the odd one stalks off in disgust at the "woodlanders."

Nightbreath watches them go, disgusted by their behavior more than the presence of a woodlander, which he doesn't mind. He walks over to greet Benar warmly, raising his paw in a wave.

Some newcomers to the village scream and run away in terror as a huge whiptail snake comes slithering into view. It's Basilisk, with Blisa perched on his head and Ferdinand sittign behind her, looking slightly queasy. Basil can be heard complaining, "But I hate excersssising! It'ssssso hard!" Blisa pats his nose, then points to the Redwallers. "Take me over there! They're my friends! HI, Benar! Hi, Nightbreath! Hi, uh, you nice mouse guy!" The sullen snake slides to a halt near the Seer, and Ferdinand slides off his back and holds his stomach and mouth, looking distinctly ill.

Benar watches Basilisk slide out of the chieftan's house and shakes his head in mild amusement, "Good day Blisa, Master Nightbreath, and to you sir Basil my greetings." he places a paw on the terrified looking mouse's arm, "This is my assistant and master of Redwall's cellars Brother Elmef." the grey squirrel beams up at the snake, "My you are big... I always forget /how/ big."

Basil hisses and brightens up slightly. "Yesss. I am big, aren't I? But Blissssa isss making me excersssise!" He adds with a whine. Blisa slides off and goes to hug the squirrel. She is taller than she was, but she is still petite. "What brings you to my father's village?" She asks happily, resting her paws on the hilts of her dirk and dagger.

Benar smiloes at the snake and reaches out a paw to pat his neck, "Excerise is good for all beasts Sir Basil, not just those of us who walk." Elmef smiles at Nightbreath and bows, "A pleasure Master Nightbreath, Elder Benar has told me a lot about you." Benar meanwhile hugs Blisa back fondly, "I was showing Elmef some of the best spots in Mossflower to collect clay from. We where nearby so I decided to come on by and pay my respects to the village."

Nightbreath bows in return. "Well, the village pays its own respects to the both of you," he says. "I hope the mud and snow was no hindrance?"

Blisa smiles up at the squirrel. "Well, I'm glad you chose to visit us. It's been a while. How is everything at the Abbey? I heard that Lee, Leon and Papa Oz were here a few days ago. Somethign about hotroot pepper..." Basilisk slumps, grumbling about how diets and excersise are evil. Ferdinand has recovered from his ordeal, but stays quiet for now, just listening.

Benar exclaims, "!Ah well the way they eat the stuff they are always running out of the stuff. I can't stand it myself." he smiles at Basil, "How are you and your snake companion getting along? Well I hope?" Elmef meanwhile is looking around the village square with interest, "It certainly looks like a nice village. And the snow was no issue the mud well we spent half the day standing around up to our knees in mud digging up clay"

"As could be expected," Nightbreath agrees. A cold wind blows briefly. He glances to Ferdinand. "Are you quite alright?"

Basilisk suddenly sniffs the air and exclaims, "Cheessse! Sssssomebeasssst iss heatign cheesssse!" And he slithers away with awe-inspiring quickness. Blisa hollers angrily and begins to chase after him. Ferdinand groans, mumbles a hasty apology, and runs after them, looking rather worn out.

Benar laughs softly as he watches Blisa run off after the snake, "See you all soon! You must come to the Abbey for the Spring Feast! Uhm... let me know if Basil is coming!" Elmef grins at Nightbreath at these antics, "Is it always like this?"

Nightbreath nods. "Indeed." He smiles slightly. "I'll have to get going now, I need to continue teaching Ragg." He nods a farewell to Benar and Elmef, and departs.
