Ferravale tavern...later in the same day that this happened: http://rwmuck.limitless.org/rwmuck/content/heya-new-dibbun-nice

The afternoon is warm, though the clouds are ominously grey. Rain is impending. The inside of the tavern is taken up by about fifteen patrons, a few having had more than enough to drink. One of the said patrons is a fox. He may not be one of the drunk ones, but he might be close to it judging by the rather slumped way he is sitting at his table (or maybe he just has bad posture) and the half empty tankard of ale sitting on the table in front of him.

The impending rain has not dampened the spirits of one of the village residents, and that creature is Blisa, daughter of Scioto. With the help of her bodyguard, the young adult ferret Ferdinand, the white-furred, green-eyed kitten opens the tavern door and enters the building, crossing to the bar and ordering lunch for the 2 of them. Her guard leans back on the bar, keeping a close eye on the patrons.

The slumping fox looks up slowly at the new arrivals, the kitten and the ferret. He grunts quietly to himself, trying to think this threw in his slightly intoxicated mind. The ferret could hardly be the father, unless he adopted the kitten, but last he checked ferrets, weasels, stoats and the other vermin related to that type were hardly kind hearted! But then again, that's just in his experience. He shrugs to himself, not furthering his argument with himself and settles for taking a slurp of his ale.

While Blisa is busily chatting with the waitress behind the bar, Ferdinand is watching just about everybody. He seems to be on duty, almost. He turns and grabs the cup of tea that Blisa ordered for him, smiles and thanks the waitress, then turns back to watching the room.

Scioto enters the tavern speaking with one of the guards "I do not know what to do with her right now, for now she stays in the cell" The guard nods and heads out as Scioto walks over and orders an ale and sits down in his chair.

The fox's attention is attracted by the new cat entering the tavern, though his words with the guard don't really register until a few seconds have past. What cell? Who? He shrugs to himself, promising he'd find out the answers to the questions just as soon as he finishes off his ale. While he's at it he might have to go see what's up with the ferret and the kitten. He shrugs again and takes another gulp of ale.

Blisa turns at the sound of the door opening, sees who has just entered, and slides down off the stool, calling, "Daddy!" She rushes over and hugs Scioto. Ferdinand smiles, murmers something to the witress, then joins his charge and her father.

Scioto smiles and hugs Blisa after she comes over, "Well hello, how has your day been so far?"

The Fox watches the proceedings with a tiny frown. Well THAT would explain a lot. But why was the kitten escorted by a ferret? What kind of father would let his daughter hang out with a /ferret/?! He scowls and takes and determined gulp of his ale, finishing it off. He then grabs the tankard in one paw, stands, and swaggers drunkenly over to Scioto, the look on his face being a little less then friendly. He pokes the cat in the shoulder, to get his attention (even though he's rather hard to ignore in the first place), and says in a rather slurred voice, "Di' yew know tha' your kid is friends with a /ferret/?" At the word ferret he gestures wildly behind him, pointing in the general direction of Ferdinand. His voice is obviously horrified as he adds, "Tha's not safe at al'!"

The kitten was just about to answer when the fox came swaggering over. Ferdinand glares daggers at him as Blisa whimpers and scoots over Scioto's lap, hiding behind him and saying in a cracked whisper, "It's a fox....Daddy....make it go away...."

Scioto looks at Valarian, "Can I help you with something and I trust my guards in this village they help protect it" He keeps an eye on the fox as he speaks.

The fox glances down at Blisa, a look of mild surprises on his face, "Well la de da da! Th' little lady doesn' like me! Well /tha's/ a surprise." The last part holds quite a lot of sarcasm. He turns back to Scioto with a look of complete disbelief on his face, "Your childs wit' a....a...." He searches for the right words to descried his opinion of the ferret and all ferrets for that matter, "A /worm/ and yew don' have anythin' to say 'bout it! wha' kind of father are yew?!" He's gotten quite into his argument by now and he is breathing his alcohol laden breath all over the beasts nearby.

Blisa coughs from the alchol on the fox's breath and starts to cry. "Daddy, he's scaring me!" she whimpers, then buries her face in her father's shirt. Ferdinand meanwhile lays a paw on the hilt of his sabre, silently pleading with Scioto to let him beat the stuffing out of the inebriated vulpine.

Scioto glares slightly at the fox, "Do back up..please" He stays calm as he says this and keeps alert also.

The inebriated vulpine, as it was so nicely put, sighs resignedly as he realizes it's useless to try and drill any parenting advice in to the older cats head. He sighs again, ignoring Blisa's weeping, though somewhere inside seeing the dibbun cry because of him is lightly touching, and the ferrets apparent want to hurt him and steps back and shakes his head sadly, "Don' say I didn' warn yew." He then walks up to the bar and gets himself a refill of ale.

Blisa peeks out from behind Scioto, revealing a tear-stained face. "Is he gone?" Ferdinand nods, smiling through his slight anger at his charge. "Yeth, he'th gone." The Dibbun turns her gaze up to her father's face. "Daddy, why did he say such bad things about Ferdy?"

Scioto shakes his head, "I do not know, the fox is drunk so maybe its partway that, I still need to talk to Oakenpaw and Willowheart..least one problem was dealed with, the lizard is gone."

The fox is to engulfed in his new tankard of ale to pay any attention to the little group behind him. He nurses the tankard in the crook of his left arm while holding the handle with his right paw. He stares lovingly down at it, maybe even going as far as to whisper incoherent sentences to it.

"What lizard?" as the 2 young creatures in unison, though with Ferdinand's lisp, his question comes out as 'lithard'. The waitress brings thier lunch over, and the ferret guard thanks her as Blisa tugs on her father's shirtsleeve. "Nobeast tells us anything."

Scioto says, "The lizard that was in my office, it was killed"

Rowan walks in using his spear as a staff. He hadn't been in the bar since the killings had happened. He quietly went to the bar and ordered a large bowl of hotroot and shrimp soup.

Blisa ohs and turns to her lunch....or would it be tea? Whatever it is, she's started to eat it. Ferdinand does the same.

The fox is sitting at the bar, whispering drunkenly to his tankard of ale, which has been gulped at liberally so it's about half empty. He watches Rowan wearily over his shoulder, but doesn't bother with words

Blisa the kitten snuggles close to Ferdinand the young adult ferret for comfort and protection, waving to Scioto as he leaves. The 2 of them quickly finesh thier food, and Blisa scoots out of her chair, grabs Ferdy's paw, and makes her way over to the otter. When they reach him, the kitten smiles and says, "Hi. Welcome to Ferravale. my name's Blisa, what's your name?"

Rowan looks up from his bowl of soup at the kitten. "Rowan Otterson, I have been here many times, I'm the ranger that watches between the bridge north of here and Redwall. Hopefully those vermin are done for a while, the last lot was a hard one."

Blisa cocks her head to one side. "Wanna talk about it?" she asks, gaining a smile from her bodyguard.

Willowheart walks into the tavern and right away is met with hey, how are ya, welcome back and she smiles and heads over to the front.

Rowan shakes his head. "I am alive, and at least one hostage survived that is enough for me." he looks over to Willow and waves. "Aye there's our survivor now."

Blisa turns her head to look at the hare, and smiles, waving. "Hi!" she turns back to the otter. "What happened? Will you tell me? Please?"

Rowan shakes his head gently again. "Fraid not, it's hardly talk over a bowl of hotroot nor for little dibbun ears."

Willowheart walks over to Rowan and Blisa "Hallo..Rowan and.." ok remember, "Blisa...need aything to drink or eat?"

"No, thank you," the kitten politely replies. Just then, the rainstorm that has been threatening all afternoon breaks with a bright, sudden flash of light and an ear-splitting BOOM. Blisa jumps with a small cry as she is startled, and Ferdinand the ferret guard picks her up. "I need to get you home." he murmers, then he nods good-bye to the other creatures and leave just as the rain begins.

And then I had to scram. Thanks for reading!
