RW Abbey: Bookbinding Room

This is a moderately sized room with a table that runs the full length of the

wall. It's rather stuffy, as there are no windows and only one door. The table

is neatly arranged with all the tools necessary for binding books, stacks of

spare parchment and spools of thread, as well as several clay ink pots and

quills made of pigeon feathers. There are some books set at one end in a neat

stack, all of which seem to be damaged in some way. A stack of scrolls, barely

readable do to water stains, are on a shelf near the door. A chair is sat by

the table and a small desk close to the doorway.

Zinnia is closed up in the book binding room and has been the past 3 hours; in fact she missed dinner an hour ago. She is catching up on notes and worrying about her uncle Zee.

Benar comes up after hearing Zinnia missed dinner and grew concern as he knocks on the door and waits on a reply "Zinnia? Are you alright?"

Zinnia doesn't reply right away as she sniffs back tears, she finally answers "I am fine now please go away I rather be alone if that’s alright with you."

Benar frowns; one advantage of being the abbot is he has a key to the book binding room as well. He takes out the key and unlocks the door stepping inside, " Last time you locked yourself in here, things were far from ok and I do not want my Recorder to start doing that again, now tell me dear what is wrong? What troubles you child?"

Zinnia frowns as the door is unlocked and open, oh why does he have to have keys to places. She looks over with tears "My..U..Uncle Zee was one of them helping the otters and..and he is in the infirm. I am..worried what if he dies? I..I can’t lose anyone else, I can't. I barley survived losing papa, Xander I may never see again and Uncle Zee is clinging to life right..right...now" She coughs and frowns. It’s a little dusty and she has been crying, this doesn’t help the fact she has her stupid asthma as she starts to have an attack and tries to get a pack of herbs from her pocket only to drop them, which makes an oncoming panic attack worse.

Benar frowns and pokes his head out of the room and grabs a passing Sister, " Mug of warm water now" The Sister nods and hurries off as the abbot walks to Zinnia and picks up the herb pack, "Sister please...try to calm down and breath normally." When the mug is brought he drops the herbs in it, "Try to..breath in the steam..."He nods to the Sister," Tea please, with something to help Sister Zinnia" The sister nods again and heads off.

Zinnia tries her best to calm herself and coughs. She breaths in the herbs steam and starts to breath normally again and remains quiet as a couple tears still go down her face but she manages to calm herself taking a couple deep breaths and then calms some more, but remains quiet still.

Benar watches her as the other Sister returns with the tea, he nods his thanks and offers the badger maid the drink as he sits beside her "I am here if you need to talk, I am always here for beasts to talk to."

Zinnia nods and finally speaks "Thanks" She drinks the tea mixture and allows it to further help her. "I..am just worried for Uncle Zee and some of the things talked of in the infirm of how Camp Willlow is burned more and...more injuries...I don't know.."

Benar nods "I await a report from Champion Magramba. As for your uncle and any other injured they are under the best care here at the abbey. I want you to try and rest my dear. Let the healers tend to those that need tending to. If you like I can check on Zee ad let you know, you will be the first to know if he is awake."

Zinnia frowns "But you have other things to do...what if you’re not there when he wakes up..what if.."

Benar lays a paw on her arm" I will tell Leon or Angela to send someone to be right away, no matter what I am doing and I will go tell you. It can be in the middle of the night and I will come wake you and tell you ."He offers a smile to her.

Zinnia leans forwards and gently hugs the abbot "Ok..Benar sounds good."

Benar nods and returns a hug as well, "Now let us get you some soup and something to drink, a couple scones and you can eat in your room and get much needed sleep child." He will then led her to her room and make sure she does go, has her dinner, and gets some rest.

Zinnia allows Benar to lead her to her room. She eats the couple scones, drinks some water and lays down to try and sleep.

Benar heads back to his quarters, hopefully the badger maid will rest.

~An hour Later~

Wyatt has snuck a small napkin of nut clusters into the library. The mouse sits nestled comfortably in a chair with three or four books spread out in front of him. Wyatt pops a cluster into his mouth, munching on the sweet, honey-soaked thing as he scans the pages of a book in front of him.

Zinnia walks into the library, she couldn't sleep so she slipped back to the library. A quick look around to make sure the abbot is not here, but she finds the mouse and his snack and frowns "No food in the library Please"

Wyatt looks up, ears flicking down in a wilt. "They're just little nut clusters, see?" He protests and opens the napkin to reveal a small pile of the snack. The napkin is held out. "Want one?"

Zinnia folds her arms over her chest "One there is rations still till told otherwise, and even if there was not no food in my library"

Wyatt frowns and pulls the napkin back into his chest to cup it there protectively. "These are mine. What I bring from home can't be rationed," The mouse grumps. "And you should put up a sign about that if you're very serious about it."

"There are signs and something from home?" The badger sighs, it's been a long day.

Wyatt looks around and folds his ears. "Well, /I/ didn't see any. An' yes. M'gran made them for me." He folds the napkin up and stuffs it in his pocket. "I'm studying to become a novice. That takes some food for thought, you know?" Wyatt weakly laughs and shrugs.

Zinnia nods slowly "Just..keep them out of the library ok? So a novice huh, that will take a lot of work, but worth it" She smiles weakly, but seems a little distracted.

"Yeah, sure. Sorry," the mouse mumbles and can't help a long, wistful look at the now bulging pocket. "Uh huh. Well, m'mum wanted me to be in the Order, but then she passed away an' things got busy... finally m'gran an' pop shoved me out the door with a pack of food and clothes an' told me to go fulfill her wishes." Wyatt chews on the inside of his cheek and looks away. "So... here I am!"

Zinnia nods "You can speak to the abbot, first your need to know the charter and understand some rules and ways of the order."

Wyatt perks up a little, leaning forward and tapping on a book. "Already on it, Miss Library Badge! I've been trying to memorize the Charter for a few days now. I've almost got it, I think!"

Zinnia says, "It’s also a lifelong commitment . Your have responsibilities and there is different ranks in novice before one will even go to Brother or Sister in the order. And my name is Sister Zinnia I am the librarian and Recorder here."

Wyatt props an elbow on the table and rests his chin in a paw. "I know. M'mum used t'talk about Redwall /all/ the time. Her grandfather was a Brother, y'see. And it's all she wanted for me." Wyatt hazily smiles at the memory before dropping his eyes to the Charter. "Oh, Sister Zinnia. I'm Wyatt."

Zinnia nods, "Well then you should do well." She says quietly "And it’s good to meet you. Sorry if I sound a little tried, been worried about my Uncle Zee."

"S'okay," Wyatt says quickly with a sympathetic smile. "I hope your uncle will be okay. Family is important, is it not?" The mouse leans back and pushes the books away in order to take a break. "I miss mine."

Zinnia nods "Family is important. My Uncle went to help the otters and now h is in the infirm in a deep faint. Abbot Benar told me he would make sure I knew when my uncle woke up from it, even if it was in the middle of the night. Said he would tell the healers to tell him first so he could tell me."

Wyatt frowns deeply at Zinnia before pushing himself out of the chair and stepping forward to throw his arms around Zinnia. "I am sorry to hear that," the dormouse says mournfully. "I will be sending all my most positive thoughts his way."

Zinnia allows the hug, "Thanks...I am going to try and not worry, the healers are doing all they can do for him"

"He is in good paws," Wyatt agrees. He leans back and smiles up at her. "I should get some sleep, but I'll clean up first!" The mouse turns to start putting his books away. "Please do take care?" Wyatt ducks past the Sister with a tip of his imaginary cap. Zinnia might notice at some point that Wyatt has snuck the napkin full of candied nut clusters into her robe pocket.

Zinnia nods, she watches him but at least he is taking that snack outside the library so that’s fine, if he is caught by some beast else that’s his problem, not her's.
