Trying to cope with the loss of his love...

From Redwall MUCK Wiki

Characters Involved: Novice Gero J. Murdock, Talisin.

Location: Redwall Abbey Open grounds.

A large shadowed form is leaning against the trunk of a tree in the open grounds. A soft melody carries away from the form on a breeze. Sounds like a set of pipes playing a mournful, slow song.

Gero had been torn apart by the loss of his love. He spent the entire day at her side, crying his eyes out...until he could cry no more...now...he's hopelessly drunk and is staggering down the Infirmary stairs, a silver flask in his paw...

The soft music continues to float across the breeze, undisturbed by the presence of any others. The shadowed form watches the drunk mouse from beneath the cowl of his cloak, but makes no move away from his spot.

Gero starts singing Drunkly to the music...though...he maybe drunk as all heck right now, but his voice is still something that other's should want to hear...very...very nice sounding. "Life...It seems to fade away.....D-drifing further every... daay" its amazing how he stays on Key being this drunk.

The shadowed form was surprised at how well the drunk could sing, and figured that it would be much better if not for the alcohol in his veins. He continues to play, even playing a little more loudly now that he had an audience.

"Getting...lost within myself....nothing...Matters No one else..." Gero Skipped a Verse of his favourite song...the one he heard long, long ago. He plans on singing it at Savannah's funeral. The novice gets closer to the music player...and still, he keeps trying to sing.

The form shifts and the cowl of the cloak slides back to reveal the badger that had been staying at the abby for about a week now, Talisin. Though, he couldn't be sure that he had met this mouse. He had met so many new beasts since he got here. The song he was playing wasn't the one that the mouse was singing, but the words being sung matched it very well. He continues to watch the mouse as he plays, each note telling of a tremendous loss, but also of a beauty that can't be seen with the eyes.

Tremendous loss is exactly what the Novice is feeling right now...aside from...drunk..."I...have lost the will to live.... Simply nothing..." long drink of what ever is in the flask. "...More to give..." The mouse finally plops himself down next to the badger.

Talisin continues playing until the song ends, then he takes the pipes from his lips and tucks it into a pouch on his belt. Then he pulls out a pipe and another smaller pouch, looking at the mouse. "You reek of alcohol there mouse," the badger states flatly.

Gero takes another long Drink of his flask content. "Be...because I'm Drunk...silly..." he laughs...if not for the Tree he leans back on, he'd have fallen over by now.

Talisin raises a brow at the mouse then he goes to light his pipe after filling the bowl with tabac. He talks around it while he lights, "Didn't figure you novices as much for alcohol."

Gero hiccups again. "Aye..well..." he starts. "Alcohol...be good...when ye...lose someone" he replies...

Talisin takes a few puffs from the pipe and falls silent for a moment. Then he looks over at the mouse that joined him, "Maybe, but the feelings will still be there, even while you drink. And it's easy to go on a downward spiral until you drink yourself to your death, mouse."

Gero shrugs. "bah!" he replies, taking another long drink of the flask content. from the smell its either rum, or something just as strong. "What...watchya' smoken?" he asks, peering up. "Anythin' good?"

Talisin smiles softly at the mouse and offers his pipe, "Just some tabac from around my home."

Gero erms and nods somewhat, finishing off the flask content before taking out a second flask from his habit. "er' it strong?" he's starting to get so drunk, he cant quite get the cap off the flask..."Drat..wh...who.. made this...N-Novice Proof..." he isn't actually twisting, he's trying to just pull it off...so he starts banging the Top off the ground, trying to open it.

Talisin reaches out and takes the flask from the novice easily. He holds onto the flask, still offering the pipe, "It's smooth, but does have a strong flavor. A good one for when drinking ale or some few rums." If the mouse takes the pipe, he opens the flask and takes a good long drink himself before offering it back

Gero takes the pipe and then takes a puff...normally that would make him cough up a lung or something, but since he's drunk, he hardly notices the hacking feeling. The novice even enjoys it! In

fact, he totally forgets its the badgers and just takes flask back..."Aye…"

Talisin chuckles and reaches for the pipe, "Now you can't have it all, that tabac isn't easy to come by unless I'm back home."

Gero hrms a bit and ohs. "ah..hehehehe..righto..." he replies. "Will... need to get me...un' of those..." then a long drink of the rum in his flask.

Talisin takes the pipe back and takes a long puff before commenting, "It's not so bad with this rum. Better with ale." Then he leans his head back against the tree and looks up at the clear night sky.

Gero glances up also at the sky, only to shoot his head back down at all the bright lights. "Oi! Dim da lights up 'dere already!" he then takes a long drink of rum again. "were...yeh thinks I can...get me a pipe eh?" he asks.

Talisin looks back and gives the mouse a sidelong glance, "I'm more of a metal worker, but I could probably fix you up something if I could find the right wood..."

Gero smiles a bit. "Ah...well Would...be lovely!" long drink. This time, he sort of forgets to swallow the rum so as soon as his mouth is full it over flows over his habit. and he doesn't notice. "will...see...If kolya' has un' i can borrow...till then....hmm"

Talisin nods, takes in a long pull from the pipe and goes to hand it back to the mouse. "Kolya....Kolya.....not sure if I know that one...." he of course had, but he never bothered to remember the stoats name. Vermin...you understand...

Gero smiles a bit and takes the pipe, placing it in his muzzle and smoking away...Yet again, forgetting whom it belonged too. "Mh...Kolya! you know! Stoat...odd colour tattoos...Kooollllllyaaaa....Ol'e novice ya see..ee left"

Talisin narrows his gaze strait ahead and nods, his voice getting a slight edge to it, "Oh. Yeah. The angry one."

Gero shoots his empty paw into the air, pointing right up. "Ding! That's Em" And this novice will probably be remembered as /the drunk one/

A slight growl comes from the badger, but he stops himself quickly and reaches back for the one thing that calmed him down, his pipe. "I'm Talisin, by the way," the badger says around the stem of the pipe.

Gero hrms a bit as the pipe is taken away quickly...that draws a frown. "'M Gero James...um....um...Gero..James..Murdock..." he replies. "Novice at Drunk" he laughs, taking another drink of the rum.

Gero Nods as he's helped up. "rightO badger person..." he replies before Stumbling towards the great hall. The mouse…the mouse started to sing again… “I wish…I may! I…wish I might! I want my Savannah back tonight!” He cries out. The mouse starts to sob again as he enters into the great hall, heading for the stairs…only to pass out in the middle of the great hall, snoring loudly.

Talisin follows after the mouse, making sure that he makes it to the bunk room. Which he doesn't. With a sigh, the badger picks the mouse up and carries him up to the bunks. He was actually a very good natured beast, as long as it didn't include vermin.
