Trouble at the Pond
Characters: Kentar, Robin, Chris, Aikuen, Fira, Ella, Venei, William

Moledeep: Dibbuns Garden
Its stoat day at the pond. There's four stoats. Kentar, Robin, Garnet, and Christopher. Garnet and Chris are playing in the pond, swimming around and taking no notice of anything around them while Kentar and Robin talk quietly with their feet dunked in the water.
It wont be a complete stoat day for long. As otters approach from the south.
Aik leads the terrible twosome of Moledeep. With a pot on his head, "Alright troopers." He says from a laid down position near a little hill. Looking toward the pond. He puts up his paws pretending to look through a spyglass, "Stoats. From the north. We need to take them surprise!" Ella lays near him. Looking off toward the pond as well. She wears a funny paper hat. In the shape of a helm. And Venei, on the other side of him is covered with leaves and green splotches. Aik looks toward them "Sir Ella! What do you suggest?" Ella barks lightly, "We gets thems!" she giggles.
Fira is following the otter army, or bringing up the rear to find a more military sounding expression, four against four seems fair. She's tied a band around her head and put a twig in it, that counts as camouflage, even if the twig doesn't have any leaves left. She couches beside the others to keep an eye on them, smirking too "Excellent plan, perhaps if we storm out and shout lots too?"
All the stoats are unaware of the otter's plans, or even that they're even there. "Yeah. It will be hard." Kentar chuckles a little bit and pats Robin on the shoulder. "But you can pull that cart from here to the western shores and back again!" he grins. "Yeah, and your helping, dad." Robin replies. Splash go the other two in the pond.
Aikuen winks at his wife, before looking back to the 'knight'. Who precedes to bounce up and down, "Oooo! That's good. Aye. Lets do that! Storm and shouty, and stuffs!" Aik settles her down, "Well hold on their matey. What does our theft say about that?" Venei pokes at her leaves, "Nono! Thats no good. I wants to... Be sneaky. And grabs them by their tailses." she makes a motion of grabbing a stoaty tail. Aik smirks, "And what does out rouge think?" he asks Fira, "Plan A? Plan B? Or Plan Pi?" Plans? What plans? There was no plans!
Fira hmmmms and pretends to look thoughtful "Well clearly a thief has to be sneaky...how about, while Ella and your dad distract them with shouts and storming, we both sneak round behind and steal their tails? Attack from both sides!"
The stoats are STILL unaware of them, talking along and playing in the water. "You know, Rob..." Kentar starts. "You'd make a great cart puller. Or rowbeast." he smirks, patting the other stoat on the back. "We'll get you some chains, how about it?" Robin just frowns. "How about you pull it while I sit on it?" he smirks. "Deal! Oh...wait..." the stoat blinks.
Aikuen snorts quietly at Fira. Giving a quick nod to her before looking back over to the stoats, "Glad we got one set of brains on our shoulders... Owie!" he smirks as his kids hit him lightly. Aik continues, "Alright did you hear that Ella?" he makes a circle motion with his claw, "We are going to circle this way. Arms a-flailing. Going for the hail Mary play. We attacked them from the front. While Vee and mum circle this way" another circle going the other way, "And gets them from behind..." Ella nods and pulls on her paper hat tighter, "Ayeaye Capy-tain!" Venei nods going over to Fira and pulling on her sash, "Got it daddy" she nods tuggin on her leaf again. Aikuen winks when he looks back and says, "Master Fi, will lead this assault! We will go on your move!" Stoats wont know what hit them!
Fira grins when the twins hit Aik, she just reads too much, ideal battle plans are lurking somewhere in her brain "Alright" he looks at Venei "We've got to be very quiet and sneaky, they shouldn't know we were there till they notice their tails are missing" She nods to Aik and Ella "You two sneak, quiet as you can over to those bushes" she points "We'll sneak to those one" pointing the other way. I'll give you a signal and then you charge!" a quick parting kiss for Aik and she takes Venei's paw "Hurry now" going to duck behind bushes and creep along.
Kentar catches something out of the corner of his eye. The stoat blinks and looks over, seeing, moving his head slowly, the otters being kept in his blind side so he doesn't see them. "Hm. Thought I saw something." Robin just smirks and punches his dad lightly in the shoulder. "Your growing old!" "Heh! Must be." he nods as he looks back to the water.
Aikuen mmms quietly at this kiss, going all poetic, "I shall see you again, when the flag is raised over the pond, my love" he smirks before making a shushing motion to Ella. Slowly leading her toward the bush that was indicated. Crouch walking. Ella doesn't have too. She is already small enough. They make it over to the bush with a slight rustle. Only that can be seen is the top of the pot. Awaiting for the signal. Whatever it might be. Venei nods, going to keep up with mum, trying not to giggle at what they are going to do soon. But its too funny! She places a paw over her mouth to keep herself from giving them away.
Fira makes her way to her indicated bush, trying to avoid things that make noise but she doesn't notice her odd quiet rustle. Soon as she's to the bush she peeks through the leaves and smirks at the pot. She quickly makes she the stoats aren't looking her way before waving her paw above the bush and pointing at the stoats. Fancy signal it is not but that was it.
Kentar's ears flick, as do Robin's. The rustle was heard. The stoats look around once and then back to each other with a nod, starting to go about their 'conversation' again, thinking something was up. But they're not sure. "So." Kentar starts. "Looking forward to the trip?" he asks, having noticeably tensed up. The other stoat nods, seeming the same way.
Aikuen keeps from Ella bouncing and making any more noise. Ella tugs on her hat tighter, "Do you sees the signals?!" she whisperers loudly. Aik peaks through the bushes to see Fira wave her paw in the air. He blinks at it and mumbles, "Is that the signal?" not much of a signal. He blinks and thinks for a minute before saying, "That has to be it! CHARGE!" he yells out, bursting from the bush. Ella is soon behind with stick for a sword. (still with leaves on it) Aik waves one too, as they run toward the stoat, "In the name of otters! You must relinquish this pond!" waving his arms and making an idiot of himself. Ella too. But its more cute than anything.
As soon as Aik and Ella charge out, Fira gives it a second or two before she slips out of the bush and down to the water's edge, silently slipping in and disappearing underwater with Venei close behind.
Kentar's head twists quickly as he was about to reach for his sword but only pauses and stares at the incoming otters. "Oh my word..." he mutters to himself, turning his back completely to the water, as does Robin. The stoats blink and shake their heads. "They've lost it, they've finally lost it."
Aikuen comes closer, arms and stick still a-waving, trying to get the stoats view off the water, "Heyheyhey! Didn't you hear us!? You must relinquish this pond in the name of otters!" Ella blurts in, "Thats us'es!" "Or feel the wraith of our sticky-swords!" he swings it. Ella swings as well, "Unguard-a We will cut you like apples... Mmm apples." she says.
They're not relinquishing fast enough, examples must be made! Fira goes for Kentar's tail, going to suddenly grab hold of it and pull him backwards into the water. Venei's doing the same with Robin's but with likely less chance of success.
The older stoat shakes his head and chuckles. "Oh you silly things. Its okay, we'll get you...erg, HELP!" he lets out the loudest yelp of his entire life, getting pulled completely into the water, having no time to take a breath, water filling his lungs quickly as he tries. Robin blinks and huhs as something suddenly yanks his tail, this stoat stumbling backward, but not quite going into the water.
Aikuen laughs victoriously, "Aha! Yes! I love it when plans come together!" he grins as he leads Ella toward the others. After the first stoat disappears, Aik says, "What ho? A foe? Get in there Robby! Or else Sir Ella will make you!" she waves her stick menacingly, "For otterers!" Venei keeps trying to pull on the tail. As much as she possibly can.
Fira lets go of Kentar in favour of swimming round him and jumping completely out of the water to go over. Sure if he doesn't make it back up she'll rescue but she's giving him a chance and doing a victory swim while the others struggle with Robin.
The stoat in the water sinks and sinks as his body keeps trying to breath. Which only makes it harder for him to get the surface. But he manages it somehow, pulling himself out and coughing out an insane amount of water, even thumping on his chest with a fist as hard as he can to empty out his lungs and fill them with air. "W-whi...whi..." he's still coughing, and if he doesn't stop, he'll end up coughing up a lung. "You okay, dad?" he asks, pulling away from Venei, ignoring her tugging on his tail as he goes to check on his dad. "Whi...which one of...you stupid...lumps of..." some random word in his foreign tongue that probably should never be said to be understood by anyone else... "...almost...k-k...killed me?" he growls out standing up, rubbing at his tail, the thing having been extremely sensitive since Will bit into it all those seasons ago.
Aikuen snorts as he can tell that Robins tail is being pulled. Smirking at Fira as she appears. Then the other stoat is up and out of the water. He blinks at him as he starts to cough loudly. He wasnt underwater that long. Then he realizes what happened and he goes over, "You okay matey?" he asks. Then he is almost cursed at, "Oh. Lighten up! You weren't anywhere near dead! If you drowned. We would have saved yah!" Like drowning happens everyday, "Its just is having a lot of fun... Ain't that right, honey?" he ask Fira.
Fira is already keeping an eye on Kentar to be sure he resurfaces, sadly he looks angry though. She neatly swims up to Kentar's side "Alright, calm down, deep breaths" going to clap a paw on his back to get out any left over water "Any longer and I'd have pulled you up myself" Venei doesn't really get the situation, she's been pulled along by Robin when he moved but she's not let go, still tugging on his tail "Fall ova'!" she commands.
The younger of the two stoats winces at Venei as she pulls on his tail. He looks down and shakes his head. "Stop, please." he says calmly. Kentar however stands up as Aik comes over. He growls once, just after another cough, each cough getting lighter and lighter. A moment passes before he balls up a fist and aims a good, solid punch towards Aik's jaw or something close by before he coughs again and heads back towards the tunnel. Garnet and Chris spot this from their playing spot, Chris left blinking as Garnet gets out and heads off after him, not sure what happened really. "Dad?" Chris calls out before shrugging a little, sitting on the edge of the water now. Robin frowns and shakes his head. "Not funny guys, sorry." he says as he too fallows after his dad, leaving Chris the only stoat there.
Venei lets go when Robin tells her too stop. She blinks. Not really getting anything yet. Aikuen wasn't expecting being hit. Though he should. The amount of times he has been hit by Kentar. He takes the entire fist straight in the nose and there is a loud crack as he stumbles back, "Son of a b!" he curses loudly, holding his nose. Obviously broken and bleeding. He stands straight, and if the stoat hadn't moved. Maybe would have hit him back. He glares at the retreating stoats, "What the hell happened? It was just a little fun...
Damn" Venei is very sadden as what is going on. Flopping on the ground, she balls up. Ella, on the other paw. Is marching off after Kentar.
If the stoat hadn't moved Fira would have hit him. She's getting more than a bit fed up when this happens. Was her fault anyway, not Aik's. The urge to punch has to be put aside as yet again Aik is bleeding and she can see Venei but where's..."Ella! Don't you dare. Go and sit with Chris" she says firmly before going to pick Venei back up onto her paws, she gets the softer voice though "You too, go and sit with Chris."
Christopher watches a few moments before seeing Ella head off towards where his dad went. "Ella...er...no!" he calls out once, thinking its best to leave them alone for the time being, the littler stoat standing up as he goes after the younger otter, trying to get her to stop and wait here. Then he stops and watches, sitting back down again next to the water, watching. "Y-you okay, Aikuen?!" he calls out.
Ella growls as she head off after Kentar. Stick still in paw. Her mothers voice makes her stop. Still deciding what to do. Then Chris gets near her. And its obvious that she is NOT happy. But she does go back to sit with Chris. Still growling. Venei is much more sadden by everything but she also goes to sit next to Chris. Aikuen looks to Chris. He has a bloody mustache, "I'm!" he yells. Then changes his tone. Not the little ones fault, "Im... Im alright. Dont look..." he places his claws on his nose and pops it back into place with a loud sickening crack. And a fresh flow of blood starts, "G-Damnit..." he grunts and looks to Fira, "Some fun..." he shakes his head.
Fira is at least relieved Ella doesn't leave. She sighs heavily, rubbing her head with one paw. There's a familiar stress she hasn't felt in a while and hasn't missed either. She can't calm down, she can just bury how angry she is for now and with a deep breath she looks back to Aik "Should clean up and try and stop the bleeding. Need something for the swelling too" but one of them has to stay and watch the kids.
Chris watches them and turns his head at the crack, shuddering and clenching his eyes tightly. "Ewh...." he mutters to himself before looking back, shaking his head, still not sure what happened. He turns to Venei and hums. "What happened?" he asks, tilting his head.
Aikuen sighs and grunts, rubbing his nose clean with his tunic collar, "I'm fine..." Might not be. But Aik maybe being stubborn, "Though something to stop the swelling might be in order... Are you alright?" he asks moving toward her. Venei looks to Chris and shrugs very slowly, "I don't know... We were playing. And then Kentar got angry..." that's all she knows. Ella is still growling, tossing her paper hat into the water. Watching is dissolve into the water.
The stoat folds his arms and sighs, shrugging too as he watches Aik, tilting his head a little bit. "Uh...sorry..." he calls out again and slumps a little bit, going to give her a hug to hopefully make her less angry.
Aikuen hrms and looks to Chris, "Eh. Its not your fault mate. I know why he is so angry... Just didn't think it would happen like that. Oh well... I'll hug him later." The bleeding has stopped. But his nose is now getting bulbous-y and red. Ella almost immediately stops growling when Chris hugs her. Her frowns disappears. But she still stares at the water.
Moledeep: Mole Hall
Robin, Kentar, and Garnet come from the gardens. Kentar is coughing still from his little 'swim' while Robin is shaking his head and Garnet is talking quietly to them. "What...happened?" she asks. "Those stupid idiots yanked me into the pond by my tail." he coughs out, the last cough before he clears his throat. "You know how sensitive that thing is since Will bit me." he frowns. "So do they. Those stupid lumps almost bloody killed me." he's angry. Robin sort of understands, but he really doesn't know quite what to say and neither does Garnet.
William is sitting at the table in the hall reading, or at least he was til he heard somebeast say his name. The rat looks up to see a trio of stoats and not very happy stoats at that. "Wouldn't your tail have healed by now?" he asks not bothering to ask what's going on as they already said as much when they came in.
Kentar looks up and stares at Will for a moment as he sits down, joined by the other two. "It did, but it didn't heal back proper." he barks out after a few moments, clearing his throat again and shuddering. "Love, can you get me a towel?" he asks Garnet who nods and heads off to grab a towel. "I rarely ever move it since it hurts." he nods. "And those stupid otters thought it would be fun to yank me into the pond by it." he growls, slamming his fist down on the table. "Those stupid, stupid beasts." Robin sighs. "They didn't know...I...' Kentar cuts him off. "They knew perfectly well."
William blinks and gives his brother an odd look. "How would .... never mind." He isn't going to give the stoat anymore fuel for what he sees as a 'hissy fit'.
Kentar is way too sissy in Will's opinion always getting upset over the littlest of things. True this was a bigger deal than throwing a fix over someone looking at him cross-eyed but none the less The rat will try to stay out of it this time.
Kentar just stares at William for a few moments and growls lightly. The nerves in his tail were pretty much killed dead all those seasons ago, so a tug like earlier hurts like mad. "Don't." he says firmly as Garnet returns with a towel. "Just, don't. You weren't there." he says simply as he takes the towel and starts to dry himself off. "I'm going to check on Aik. I think you might have broke his nose or something." Robin says as he stands up, leaving the hall.
".... Now what?" Will asks at last. He'll let the stoat's attack on Aik slide for now as the stoat is upset and he probably would have acted similarly were he in the stoat's place. If the stoat announces he's leaving it'll be just like old times.
Kentar growls to himself and leans down so his face is resting on the table, banging it lightly over and over. "Damn stupid beast." he grunts with every smack of the table. He then sits up and blinks. "Ow."
William smirks at the stoat, "Yes he is but hitting your head on the table wont make either of you any smarter."
Kentar huhs a little bit and watches Will for a few moments, actually cracking a smile as he chuckles. "Nope. Guess not." he nods. Garnet has gone off to check on Christopher now that she knows her idiot...her husband is fine.
You ask, " 'her idiot'? That sounds weird hearing some other beast say it. So other than stupid otters how has your day been? Chris getting any better with his dagger?"
Kentar sighs a little and shrugs. "Its been alright I guess." he thinks and then nods. "Yeah. He can throw it almost as good as me." he chuckles quietly. "He still misses sometimes and I never miss." he nods.
"He's still fairly little. He's just needs more practice is all." Will says.
Kentar nods. "Yeah. But I don't want to teach him that good." he smirks. "I am his dad after all, I'm supposed to be better then him in anyway I can be." he nods once with a chuckle.
William shrugs, "Maybe but helping him get a little better wont kill you."
Kentar nods. "I intend to help him get better, but not as good as me." He chuckles as he stands up. "I'm going to go get changed out of these soaked clothes." he nods. "See you later."
Moledeep: Dibbuns Garden
Robin comes back after a few minutes. "You okay Aik?" he asks. Chris gives Ella a squeeze and smiles a little. "Turn that frown, upside down!" he smiles, quoting his mother completely.
Fira waves off Aik's concern with a paw before he can even get to her "I'm fine, was my fault. I just, need a minute...Look after the kids and I'll get you something for your nose" she will be fine, just needs to let it out when no one's around so she's going to head back to the tunnel.
Aikuen looks over to Fira, with a nod, "Im really fi-... Oh... Okay. Thanks honey." getting where she is at. She is going inside to yell. Or to beat up a pillow. Or beat up Kentar. Whatever she meets first. Aik lets her do that. He will see her later about that anyway, "See you..." before Robin comes into the scene, "Hey Robb." he nods, "Im fine. My nose got the worst of it." Is that a smile? Yep, it sure is, "Listen. Tell Kentar i'm sorry. I know why he got so angry. But also tell him to lighten up, or watch his back." he chuckles. Ella smiles lightly at Chris. Still just staring.
Robin hums a little and sighs. "I know too. That really wasn't the smartest thing to do." he nods. "I didn't mind, but that's cause no one killed the nerves of my tail. Yet." he hums a little. "And you can tell him yourself." he nods once. "I'm not a messenger. I'd just avoid him though for a day or two to let him cool off." he suggests, looking to Chris for a moment and then back to the old otter.
Aikuen frowns, "He pushes me into water all the live long day. And we pull him once, and now i'm the bad guy?" he shakes his head at this injustice, "It was just a little fun. We didn't know it would escalate into something like this. And you know that." he frowns a bit more, "Please. If it wasn't for me. He wouldn't have a tail anymore... I bet he never told you that?" he sighs and counts a bit to himself. Calm yourself Aik, "...Its just like him."
Robin frowns. "That's not what I meant, Aik." he says, folding his arms. "If it wasn't his tail that was grabbed, it would have been fine. And yes, he told me before." he nods. "If you were in his position, you'd probably have done the same thing. I would have." he nods.
"His tail will be fine if we hung him by a tree with it" Aikuen waves paw, "It just pained him, that's all. I get the same thing on cold days. Or if i try to reach something on the high shelf." he hrms, "Its true. I would have. I'm just a little angry about him hitting me. I'm tired of it. Next time he hits me. Im gonna hit back. And believe me. I hit like a hammer compared to Kentar." he sighs, "I'm sorry Robin. I'm not angry... Just a little, edgy. Thats all..."
Robin stares at Aik for a few moments and sighs. "No you wont." he says. "He hasn't hit you in ages." he thinks. "Actually. That's the first time I've ever actually seen him hit you. The last time dad mentioned hitting you was before I came here or something." he nods.
Aikuen looks off toward the pond, "The last time he hit me was. When we were at your village. I caused some problems. And he socked. I socked him back though. Only in the stomach. I was still in my right mind at the time, and didn't want to hurt him. And aye. That was a very very long time ago. But those things don't go away. When your best friend hits you. That never leaves you. Ever. Its forever imprinted in your mind..." He watches Ella, who rest her head on Chris shoulder. Seeming happy again. Regardless of the older ones.
Robin nods slowly. "I know Aik, I do. I really do." he nods slowly and sighs, shaking his head slowly. "But you've got to understand, he got scared. Angry and scared. I think he thought while he was trying to get out of the pond, that...for a few moments, he was going to die." He nods. "I don't know, but he might have. So please...don't take it too personally." he sighs. "However strange that sounds."
Aikuen smiles softly at the little ones, "I'm not. That's why I'm not there, giving him a broken nose in return. But he has got to understand. We would NEVER let anything bad happen to him. You can just forget about drowning. Though, next time. Ill make sure to get you first." he snorts, "Kentar has tried to kill me several times, now that i realize. He threw his sword at me. Now THAT i do recall..." he rubs his chin.
Robin sighs. "Shut up, will you?" he asks, shaking his head. "Stop trying to compare everything he did to you, to this. It might be the same, but still. He honestly thought he would die. And thats not my fault if he thought it, he just did." he frowns.
Aikuen frowns back and his eye twitches, "Don't get uppty with me Robin..." more sighing. And more counting, "...I cant help but compare. He has done so much to me. Where i could have died if he didn't have bad luck. I'm not mad, i promise you. I will let him sulk and be him. Then i will talk to him. Tell him i'm sorry."
Robin stares and shakes his head. "Aik. Just...drop it, okay?" he frowns. "All that stuff happened so long ago. It doesn't matter anymore." he sighs. "Just talk to him and get him to like you again cause I don't want to have to live with an angry idiot."
Aikuen points, "When its your best friend. It matters. It always matters. Even if it was... 20 seasons ago..." he shakes his head and then chuckles, "I will. Don't worry. I like him enough."
"Fine." Robin replies with a nod and a yawn before he goes towards the pond to sit down again, dipping his feet into the water like he was before the day went to heck.
Aikuen nods, "Well. Okay then." more nodding as he goes over, next to Venei, and pulls her closer. Letting her rest in his lap. Venei has started sucking on her thumb. And Aik lets her this time. Let her be in her happy place. As he pats her head and side, "Its okay my little waterkin. Everything is alright..."
Venei is still silent. Ella is still trapped by Chris. That's just they way she likes it. Still resting as well.
Robin sighs and stares at his reflection, shaking his head to himself before he lays back, staring at the sky and humming quietly to himself, looking to Aik and the young ones before drifting off to sleep.
William comes out of the tunnel and walk out to the pond. Kentar had just left him in the hall to change into dry clothes. Will doesn't notice if any of the other stoats are around or not, he's too busy looking for a tall yellowish beast by the name of Aik.
Aikuen is sitting by the pond. Venei in his lap. Who is sucking on her thumb (though she grew out of that). Seeming to be asleep. Robin has drifted off near the side, leaning against a fence post. Chris and Ella are on the other side of the pond. Where they seem to be talking quietly. Aikuen smiles as he pets his daughter. Unaware of any approaching rats.
William finally spies the otter and walks over toward him. "Hey, Pa. ..... Are you ok?" he asks having heard a little of what happened from Kentar. Venei gets a head stroke since she's there.
Aiks' nose, looks like it has grown twice in size, it has swollen so much. And is red and blue beyond belief. And, to boot, he has a bloody mustache, as a blood trail leads down his face and neck. But Aik smiles slightly at the approach of Will, "Hey Will. Im fine. Though my nose might tell different..." he chuckles. Venei hrms lightly at the stroke. Still in her happy place.
William pets Ve again and crouches to be at eye level to her, "Hey Ve. How are you?" he asks wondering what they think of Kentar after what he did, if they even know it was him. "You should get cleaned up. I can watch th twins and Chris." he offers.
Oh. They know it was Kentar. Ella was about to lay the smack down, it it wasn't for her mother and Chris stoping her. Venei was just in shock mostly. Aik nods and prods his bulbous nose, "Aye. I do... Thanks..." he slowly puts Venei on the ground. Giving her a kiss and another pat, "She is in shock. If i can think of it. Just, happy things for her. And keep her away from Kentar. Same with Ella. Though Ells might be less inclined for Kentar" he nods slowly,
"So. What do you think about all this, Will?" he asks.
"I think we should be glad Kentar isn't upset anymore. I half thought he'd start up his 'I'm leaving' stick again." The rat shakes his head. "He said his tail never healed right seasons ago and hurts most of the time. He assumed you knew that I guess. I'll try to keep the pikefish from killing him though. He's still somewhat useful for making things and cake. He makes good cake when he's not being a pain. Garent was in there someplace she might fuss some if she sees you come in. She seemed a little sore at him for what he did."
Aikuen nods, "I did not know. He never told me. And I thought when i bandaged it up all those seasons ago. It would be the last of it. I guess not. I figured it out though at last..." he sighs, "Glad he isn't upset either. We didnt mean for that to happen" he smiles and pats Will on the shoulder, "Thanks son. Though i think Ella is all angered out. She got Chris to hold onto now..." he chuckles, "Oh no! I have Fira beating up bread, and Garnet going to fuss over me...
