Tricking an 'Otter'

From Redwall MUCK Wiki

Characters: Garnet Chris

Location: Moledeep; Kitchens

Its not too long before dinner time, but Chris doesn't want to wait! He's hungry now, and since he's hungry now, he decides to go find something to snack on. He peeks into the kitchens to see if his mum is around, or anyone else for that matter, before he proceeds over to one of the counters. He peers up over it and reaches out for the big jar marked 'cookies'. Kentar loves to make cookies and always leaves a jar or two around for anyone who wants one. Or a dozen.

Garnet is in fact, in the kitchen. After beating away several annoying otters. Not the twins. The parents surprisingly. She has gone back to doing what she does best. Making a feast with just measly scraps. Her cooking apron is on, as she works at the stove. Preparing tonight delight. She hears an approaching beast, and doesn't even have to look to know who it is, "I think twice before taking a cookie Christopher." Its a mother tell.

Chris's paw blindly touches the cap to the jar, tilting it open and reaching in, fishing around for a big cookie! And poof! He finds one. He stares at it for a few moments before opening wide and...pause. "Aww...mum, please?" he asks, tilting his head at her for a moment, so very tempted to just take a bite anyways.

Garnet she smirks and places the pan on a cool part of the stove. Turing around. She got her spoon in paw. The spoon in which she whacks those who cant wait for dinner. She never really does. But. Its good to say that. She walks slowly over, "No-no. You spoil your dinner dear." The spoon... LOOK AT THE SPOON!

Chris awws and frowns, going to put the cookie back. "But I want a cookie." he nods. The stoat folds his arms and jumps up onto a chair, sitting down with a bit of a thud.

Garnet puts her spoon on the counter, leaning over, "Yes. We all want a cookie. but its good too... Restrain ourselves from it... Sides. My dinner will taste much better than a cookie" she smiles a bit, then adds a chuckle.

Chris frowns and nods slowly. "Fiiine." he replies before peeking towards the stove. 'What's for dinner?" He asks, tilting his head. He asks pretty much the same way his father does, and the resemblance is actually rather creepy.

Garnet is used to it. And does the same thing she does to his father when he asks. She leans over and lightly flicks his nose, "Were having sauted vegetable platter. Along with a green salad. And for the meal. We have butter-cream fish. With lemon wedges..." she smiles and sighs.

Chris oohs a little then scrunches his face. "Vegetables? Salad? Eww." he frowns, folding his arms even tighter, closing his eyes and shuddering at the thought of a salad. "I'll just have the fish!" he smiles.

Garnet she rolls her eyes, "Not gonna eat your veggies eh?" he goes around on the other side of the counter and leans down to get eye level, "So. Your gonna be an otter now, are yah? Always eating fish, never a care for the vegetables?" she asks. Still, with a smile.

Christopher claps his paws together and smiles, nodding. "Yah! I'll be an otter." he grins before uhming loudly. "How do I be an otter?" he asks, tilting his head a little bit, not quite sure how he'd become an otter. He doesn't really consider that either his mum or his dad will probably make him eat those vegetables.

Garnet will make him eat his veggies. One way or another... Spoon. For example. She makes a thoughtful face, getting up and pacing, "You want to be an otter? Let see lets see." she goes back to him, lifting and putting him on the counter. With some effort, "Well first... you have to be strong and tall!" she flexes her arms, "Like this!" She then say in a low voice.

Chris oofs and giggles a little bit as he's set down on the counter, tilting his head as he watches. "Okay..." He nods, doing the same thing with his arms as Garnet. "Then what!?" he smiles.

Garnet chuckles and is gonna have fun with this, "Very good! Now!" she rubs her paws together, menacingly, "Now you have to talk in a grunty voice..." enter grunty voice, "Like this!" sounds funnier when she says it.

Chris giggles and smiles, the stoat trying to talk like that but only sounding high and squeaky. "Grr!" He nods. "What then?" the little stoat asks, tilting his head to one side.

Garnet chuckles a bit and then goes back to her thoughtful face, "Lets see. Strong. Check. Grunty voice. Check..." she ohs, "Ah! The most important thing! The rudder..." she leans around and pulls lightly at Chris' very fluffy tail, "Nice strong and sleek tail for putting around in the water! Now say Aye aye!"

Chris ergs as his tail is pulled, even though its light. He grins a little lopsidedly, flicking his tail around a couple of times. "Aye aye!" shouts the stoat. He can't help but give off a salute too, giggling a little bit more.

Garnet laughs at Chris, "Oh dear. I've created a monster..." she sits down on one the stools, "You can rival the twins. I bet on that, i bet on that!" she grins and stands back up, "Look at you! A proper otter after all!...Unless... We're forgetting anything?" she asks.

Chris grins and nods slowly. "Yep!" he replies before blinking a couple of time sand tilting his head. "What are we forgetting, mum?" he asks, not sure if she was just asking or saying that they are forgetting something.

Garnet she grins, and this is where they all lead up too, "Oh yes we are!... Now.... What is an otters favorite food in whole wide world?"

"Fish!" Christopher smiles brightly, thinking that was a rather easy answer. He folds his arms and closes his eyes, perking up as he starts to think the world of himself for getting that right.

Garnet smiles and bops him on the nose, "Right you are oh son of mine. Now! Here's the next question... What is an otters... Second! Favorite food in the whole wide world?" oh yes. She went there.

The little stoat sort of meeps and tilts his head, not knowing this one. So he decides to take a guess. "Uh. Cookies?" Asks Chris. He's not sure about that one until he looks to the cookie jar and nods. "Yes. Cookies!

Garnet chuckles and shake her head, "Close. That's their third favorite! And no cookie yet..." she points out, just once again for emphasis, "Open your mouth and close your eyes. And you will get a big surprise with the answer!"

Chris hrums a little bit and tilts his head slightly before closing his eyes and opening wide. He doesn't quite trust his mother with this part but he also doesn't not trust her, so he just waits to see what happens next.

Garnet chuckles and tiptoes over to the stove to the now cool pan. She takes a little spinach leaf from the pan. Then reaching over to the spice rack tp pull out a big tin. The hotroot tin. She sprinkles. Oh so little on the leaf before heading back over to Chris, "Here we are!" and she places it in his mouth, "Take a bite outta that!"

Chris waits a few moments, which really seems like forever to the stoat. But after a moment he takes a bite and swallows it, smiling, opening his eyes. "Mmmm." He nods slowly before tilting his head, wondering what it was.

Garnet leans down and nuzzles his nose, "Taste good now didn't it? How would like a big ole plate of that for dinner tonight Hmm? Sounds good right?"

Chris smiles and hums with a nod. "Sure!" he smiles and before he can say anything else, Kentar's voice calls in from the hall. "Come on Chris! Time to get cleaned up." Chris frowns and hops off the table, running towards the door. He stops for a moment before turning around and going to go give his mum a kiss on the cheek before running off.

Garnet says, "Righteo then! When big o' plate of this good stuff! Just for you! No one else can have it! Your dad is calling. Better hurry!" she laughs and then smiles at Chris, at the kiss thing. Going to give him a tight hug back, "Love you dear. Now go beat up dad." she smiles and watches him run off. Before going to make the spinach platter. Just for him. Just for Chris.
