Xypher the monitor lizard. Ferdinand the ferret and Blisa the cat.

It is a rather cold day in Ferravale, and among most beasts who are rather resilient to the cold, there is one black scaled lizard in particular who is bundled up quite heavily, walking along through the town with several layers on under a thick jacket. With this on, Xypher seems comfortably warm, and is simply enjoying his walk through Ferravale.

Blisa and Ferdinand are two of those heartier beasts, and they are happily walking through the marketplace, enjoying getting away fro a little bit from their snake friend. The kitten has her paw through her ferret bodyguard's as they walk down the street.

Xypher continues to walk, not quite watching where he's going until he suddenly runs smack dab straight into Ferdinand, causing him to stumble back several steps, shaking his head.

Ferdinand does not like getting run into, and so it's all he can do to not growl in displeasure as he gets knocked forward a step. Blisa turn and looks behind her, her eyes widening with a surprising shock...and unexpected fear. Well, it's unexpected from the perspective of the shopkeeper whose stall they are at the entrance of.

Xypher winces at the look on Ferdinand's face, and he holds both claws up. "Sorry sir, I wasn't paying attention," He says.

Ferdinand nods and smiles. "I underthtand, no worrieth. I jutht don't like thurpritheth." Blisa tries to smile politely, but it's a very poor attempt, and she still looks scared.

Xypher attempts a weak smile of his own, certainly not turning out to be the big scary lizard that most creatures like him are. "Yeah, sorry again. I've just never been here before and I'm exploring."

Ferdinand nods again. "I did a thimilar thing when I firtht came here. Then I became a guard, and I wandered around even more." Blisa nods and timidly adds, "There's lots of cool...places...here..." Where's her usual friendliness got too?

Xypher tilts his head at Blisa. "Really? Would you guys be able to show me what kinds of places there are?" He gives another grin, kneeling in front of Blisa in a friendly manner.

Blisa resists the urge to shrink back from fright and swallows hard. "Well....I geuss we could....we have a very nice tavern....and an inn...and a nice pond that's good for swimming in...." Ferdinand knows why she's so scared and so pitches in, saying, "But firtht we mutht thow you the finetht cheethe bunth in Mothflower....maybe excluding Redwall'th cheethe bunth..." He waves tot he shopkeeper in front of them, who blushes with pride and brings out a whole basketfull, warm and steaming.

Xypher looks up at Ferdinand, standing with a smile as he looks back over to the stand to see the basket. "That sounds quite amazing, thank you, but I don't have money."

Blisa darts forward and pays for 3 buns with some of the money Ferdinand lets her carry. "Here. A gift from the daughter of the Chieftain!" She says with a smile, handing the lizard a nice, warm, delectable cheese bun....which ought to be famous for taming a whiptail snake....but that's another story. The ferret smiles at the kitten and accepts his cheese bun, pleased that she's fighting to overcome her phobia of monitor lizards.

Xypher smiles widely as the kitten hands him the cheese bun, and he takes it delicately. "Why think you miss! You are quite the nice little kitten, you know that?" Inwardly, he is utterly shocked that the daughter of the chieftain is paying attention to him at all, much less buying him something.

Blisa twitches slightly. "I'm not that little..." she mumbles, almost inaudably, then shrugs. "Everyone says I'm nice, but I don't see it. Thanks, though..." Ferdinand just listens for now, hoping he doesn't have to chastize his charge about manners.....

Xypher chuckles. "Well I think you're quite nice," He says warmly, letting his comforting personality show to the kitten. "What's your name?"

Blisa smiles a little more honestly. "Thanks. My name's Blisa, and this if Ferdinand, my bodyguard. What's your name?"

Xypher holds out a black colored paw rather shyly, smiling with a warmth that reaches his unusual bright pink eyes. "I'm Xypher. It's a pleasure to meet you Blisa, Ferdinand!"

Ferdinand shakes the paw/claw as Blisa curtsies. "Welcome to Ferravale! I hope you enjoy your stay here." The ferret nods in agreement.

Xypher nods in greeting to both. "Well I'm sure I will. I think I'm going to be apprenticed to Malcolm soon."

Blisa tilts her head to one side and nibbles on her bun. "Um.....er....hmmm....who's Malcolm?"

Xypher chuckles. "He's the blacksmith here. I plan to learn smithing from him!"

Blisa smiles. "Oh, that's good! That's a usefull skill to have..." and the duo offer to take the lizard on a guided tour of the village, ending in the tavern for a hearty meal...on the house!
