There's An Old Office In The Abbey?-Redwall Log

Involved:

Papa Oz-Caretaker of dibbuns/badger father

Thorn-Teen rat maid

Lilymoore-Teen and Abbey Bell Ringer

The day is very cloudy now, as it had been raining earlier and its gotten to be a drizzle now so most are inside. The dibbuns are with Sister Jenny as Oz is helping with a request of seeing where Thorn has gotten too, but there is not too much up here and he rather avoid the attic.

Thorn is here in the old office. Its empty and she has left the door open as she stares out the little bit of an old boarded window. No beasts are usually up here so it's a good place to hide but sadly a sneeze shows its dusty as well.

Oz turns to the sound, the one room in this whole place he didn't brother exploring much when he could still see, or rather barely see is the one the rat maid is in. He reaches for the door and tilts his head walking carefully inside “Thorn? Is that you?" He seems surprised the door is open as he does find it and frowns.

Thorn frowns and looks ready to bolt, but relaxes when she sees its Oz..."Yes" She says quietly "I..sort of picked the lock on the door to get in, the room is ..sort of empty."

Oz walks in slowly , "This is some....well old room usually locked." Which explains his uneasiness with moving it's been locked and unused for a long while.

Thorn watches him and clears her throat" It’s like totally empty...unless ya count dust"

Oz frowns, there is still the walls though as he walks towards her voice slowly, “Why are you in here for? Benar been worried since last night and I told him I would make sure you were in the abbey still"

LilyMoore climbs up the stairs, searching for someone! But she's not looking for Thorn. Actually, who she's looking for isn't actually a real person. "Is anybeast up here? I'm trying to find a toy kitty; one of the Dibbuns lost it yesterday and I promised I'd look for it..." She spots the badger and rat and smiles. "Oh....hi. Sorry....am I interrupting? I can look up here later."

Thorn frowns, "I..just" She looks at Lilymoore and sighs "No it's ok I would be outside but the rain."

Oz answers first Lilymoore "No toys up here or in here, maybe it’s in my room as toys do get there" He turns back to Thorn, "Again...why? You are upset as your tone of voice shows it and why pick a lock just to go into a room no beast uses?"

LilyMoore nods "Oh....okay. Maybe we can check later...." She just listens to the other 2, edging up until she's in the doorway. She looks concerned for her friend, but she waits for the rat's answer before she says anything.

Thorn frowns "Its cause no one would...well normally be up here. I messed up in helping some beast and...and waited too long to tell anyone and it's probably too late now and it’s my fault...and...and not to mention someone is looking for me maybe or sent another to cause well duhhhh I would know I was gone suddenly."

Oz frowns "Wait..help who? And of course we would look for you, to make sure all was well and the fact you most likely missed breakfast"

LilyMoore slides past the badger and takes a few steps closer to her friend. "Do you wanna talk about it? I won't be mad at you, even if you've done some really horrible things; you'd be surprised who /else/ is my friend, whom nobody likes; my own /mother/ doesn't even trust him, really, but I do. I doubt you've done anything as bad as he has done." She smiles encouragingly and holds out her arms, offering a hug.

Thorn steps away from the hug, "I...the" She looks between them and just gets it out "Father and Flicktail was talking about the missing badger cub and then mentioned his name and I remembered seeing him in the barn. It was when I helped free Caleb but I couldn’t get Xander Free cause the monitor took him down stairs and so I picked Caleb's lock and told him we had ta run. But they checked the next day I heard and found nothing...well no horde or anything and that was 2 weeks ago...I should of said something earlier and I didn’t, I didn’t cause I was afraid to. I was with that Wildcat but..not as a slave...he liked that I could pick locks and said I could stay long I never betrayed him and...well I did and he probably has this Assassin after me but they didn’t find me yet...or maybe he could care less and is far far ...far from....Mossflower...n..now" It’s here she breaks down and cries falling and sort of curling up on the dusty floor.

Oz listens as best he can to her as words seem to flood out, he frowns as Xander is mentioned "You...saw Xander?"

LilyMoore listens wide-eyed. After a few moments, she kneels and goes to hug her friend. "You did betray him, and that means you're trying to change and become a good beast! Thorn, do you have /any/ idea where the wildcat could've gone??" She pauses, then adds quietly, "I understand being scared. But courage isn't in not being scared, but rather in standing up to what you're afraid of. ....you were very brave to tell us that, and I think you're still my friend." She has Marek as her friend, so why not Thorn, too?? The rat seems to be trying to change, so why not??

Thorn frowns "I..I don't know he wanted to hide from these Vikings and they were north. He talked once of the sea coast but he seemed unsure he wanted to stay in Mossflower to finish whatever is plan was." She frowns "He also called the cub his soon to be weapon, said he was going to train him to fight and get stronger"

Oz listens "Well, maybe he is not very far. But I know no one has seen any wildcats, then most of the focus was Camp Willow, but that’s..well mainly taken care of, the Vikings are gone so focus could go back on finding the wildcat and Xander"

LilyMoore nods and looks at the badger. "I'm sure Momma will go out looking for him as soon as she is allowed....actually, when she hears about all of this, she might go out searching /before/ she's all healed from the battle for Camp Willow." She suddenly looks scared. "What do you mean, 'future weapon'?"

Thorn looks down, "I don't know. He just said he wanted to keep -it- around. That badgers are very strong and getting one to work for him would be hard....unless they started young. He even told him his mom and uncle were dead"

Oz frowns "Not a good thing, we should....and No Dorarose needs to heal, others do as well till any beast goes anywhere"

LilyMoore nods, still looking frightened at this prospect. "I can only hope that maybe Ferravale is looking for the wildcat, too, and they'll find him before it's too late." She goes to hg the rat. "I'm sure you can help, too....like you already have!" She's trying to be brave for her friend, but her rising panic is evident in her voice. "Momma might not listen. She's said that she feels so bad for having to leave off looking for Xander to help fight at Camp Willow. I'm not sure she'll listen to Nana or Dad if they tell her to rest more....should I NOT tell her all this???"

Thorn says, "But they could be anywhere and maybe he...I can't...and please don’t tell dad he would disown me if he knew I knew of this and said nothing till it..till it was too late"

Oz sighs "We don’t really have anyone to look right now..Dorarose is injured as is Magramba. They BOTH need to heal first"

LilyMoore nods and tries to rub the rat's back. "Don't worry, I won't tell him......but who, then? OH! I know!" She jumps up, clapping her paws. "I don't think my Uncle Emyuil was badly hurt; maybe he could go! And I wouldn't have to tell him how I found out...and Butterclaw could take a message to Ferravale for me! I'm sure Blisa and...my other friend would help once they found out how serious this is!!"

Thorn says, "Fe..Ferravale? I am unsure they would help, I mean would they?" She frowns as she remembers something “I think Zurrgg at one time wanted to..go to Ferravale for something but don't know what, knowing him to get more for his stupid group."

Oz frowns "I have no idea if your uncle is hurt or not. I know some had fewer injuries than others and there was one of the otters that died. The infirm is fairly full and last night they had to help Rayen elsewhere cause of it..somewhere more quiet and calm"

"Well, I think my friend may have a long-standing feud with this Zurrgg beast, and the Abbey has a peace treaty with the village, and Blisa is a good friend of mine. I'm sure they'll help," Lily informs the rat. Turning to the badger, she adds, "What was wrong with Rayen? Is she okay?"

Thorn does remember last night and smiles some "I think she is having a baby, but it would take a while and Flicktail was...well-being Flicktail" Well least she is smiling a little now. "Rayen that is with the baby"

Oz nods "Yes her dibbun was to be born soon, in fact very early this morning it was born but I have yet to check on them, but I am sure all is well. A bit of good news among bad news"

LilyMoore smiles. "Awr, a little baby foxie!! How adorable!" She claps her paws and, noticing her friend's mood brightening, adds, "I bet it's just adorable, don't you?"

Thorn keeps the smile "Maybe...I may see it sometime but babies are usually loud."

Oz chuckles "Yes till they learn to speak. One needs to be careful around babies also so too much company is not wise. I have helped with many dibbuns, some shortly after birth..." He frowns slightly "Even my own was 1/2 season....adopted a dibbun who was almost a season." He nods offering a smile again," In a season or so the fox dibbun will be crawling around I am sure and speaking a word or two."

LilyMoore jumps on the balls of her feet. "Oh, this is going to be so much fun! I hope we can be friends when it's older. Do you know its name? Is it a boy or a girl?" She stops bouncing and just stands there on the balls of her feet, nose wrinkled. "Yeah, they are REALLY loud....and stinky sometimes. I'm glad that I've never had to change them. Pee-yew!" Going flat-footed again, she pinches her nose closed with one paw and waves the air in front of her face with the other. Going for a laugh from the rat, now.

Thorn does laugh a little and smiles a little more. She looks out the window "Least the rain stopped, that’s always good"

Oz says, "I did not ask or find out yet, sorry. Maybe Benar knows the little one's name or Flic tail will know or least he should""

LilyMoore grins. Success! "I'll have to ask one of them, then." She, too, looks out the window. "I love the rain; it makes me feel happy."

Thorn blinks "How? Seems a lot don't like rain or run when it starts so they can be dry"

Oz listens to them as they talk, he has stayed in the same spot mostly " Rain helps flowers and such things grow. Rain is good for the rivers, ponds and lakes as it gives water to all, even us."

LilyMoore smiles and twirls around, kicking up a cloud of dust. "The sound makes me feel better, and.....well, I don't know, it just makes me happy!" She spins and spins, then falls down and giggles....and sneezes. Ooops.

Thorn giggles and grins "But rain messes up fur and stuff, but it does clean things also I guess that’s good"

LilyMoore shrugs and grins, too. "Yeah, that's true. I can't really explain why I like it so much, I just do." She doodles a little in the dust on the floor and adds, "I'm glad that you're feeling better. I'm happy that you're smiling again."

Oz says, "We should leave the ...whatever room this is.." He sneezes when dust is stirred up "Yes leaving is good"

Thorn looks around "Yeah this room needs cleaned, you know they could do something with this room. It needs used and I can ask father about it"

LilyMoore shrugs. "Yeah, we probably should before I stir up more dust on accident." She stands and starts trying to brush the dust off her dress; it basically doesn't work. "Do you mind my asking who your father is, Thorn?" she says cheerfully. "If you don't want to tell me, then that's okay."

Thorn nods "My birth father died in a fight at the Black Gull and I came here...for a couple seasons and then left, it was..."She frowns "Before Zork died...anyways Abbot Benar adopted me as his daughter so he is father to me now"

Oz already knows the answer as he frowns, great which way is the darn door

LilyMoore gasps, then chokes on the dust. After a horrible fit of coughing, she stumbles forward and goes to hold the badger's paw. "Abbot.....the Abbot is your dad? I had no idea. But that's okay!!" she quickly adds, holding out her other paw to her friend. "He's teaching me how to ring the bells," she says proudly.

Thorn smiles "That’s neat. Bells are very helpful so we know anything that’s good or bad and when meal times are...a lot of things"

Oz reaches out and sighs in relieve as he finds the door, feeling along it he finds the hall an now seems a lot more ok with where he is cause he now can walk freely and KNOW where he is" Let’s go dinner is soon"

LilyMoore nods and skips to the head of the stairs. "Bell ringing is fun! I was banned from doing it for a while because I attacked somebody." She now looks sad. "But then I apologized, and I'm now back to my lessons!" She looks back at the rat. "It was the most terrifying thing I've ever had to do, but I'm so happy that I did it, despite my fear." She smiles.

Thorn nods and walks on to the hall "Yeah let’s go if diner is soon, and father needs to know I am ok" She then goes downstairs.

Oz makes sure they all get to Dinner.
