The badger and the foxy should be friends ;) or Hiding in the library.....but without computers :(

From Redwall MUCK Wiki

RW Abbey: Library

The library has never looked better in seasons as shelves have been

repaired and so have tables and chairs. The once empty sleeves now

have more books in them and not only that the books are in an ABC

order and arranged by subject to better find what one is looking for.

The beautifully crafted windows are well cleaned.

This gives the library plenty of light during the daylight hours. The

room has a high vaulted ceiling. The flagstones of the floor are cool

and smooth, and echoes are sometimes heard when beasts walk. Brass

lamps containing short, fat little white candles provide enough light

for reading. Some books are still being mended but being working on

getting on the shelves. The backroom is even very clean and organized

as well. Books were found in the attic and some from Ferravale were

added that the Ferravale beast had maybe two copies of something so

gave Redwall one of the copies for the Redwall library, all in all a

lot of hard work has done wonders for the library.

On an Oakwood desk is the charter laying inside a clear glass case for

all to see. The glass case keeps it safe and clean. Some other chairs

large and small, wooden and soft, have been placed in varies places

in the library and a pile of covers and blankets sit in one corner

with a few pillows as well.

Abbey Charter

Zinnia the female badger. DoraRose and Angela the female mice. Rascal the male fox.

Zinnia is sitting in a chair looking over a list of items and writes something down on another paper ever so often, she has cleaned up from how she looked before as her robes are clen and she combed out her fur, but she has been very quiet today.

DoraRose knocks on the door, then peeks in. I mean, yeah, this is the library of Redwall, but she is keeping in mind that the Recorder might be wanting some privacy. "Zinnia?"

Zinnia looks over at Dorarose and nods "hello" She says in a simple tone and looks back at her papers she has, looks to be adding some items and rewriting on another paper other that using the lines and cross lines on the one paper, but she will keep them also just in case. She writes down Supply lists and the days date on top.

DoraRose comes over to the table and sits beside her friend. She watches what she's doing for a few minutes, then says quietly, "How you holdin' up? I heard that my grandmother was a bit.....harsh on you the other day."

Zinnia doesn't respond right away as she finishes writing on how many pears there was and frowns, she looks over her notes and then nods as she finds what she needs. A quick count and the rest is written down, "Yes..." She simply says as she straightens up a stack of papers, "And I been busy this morning." The tone stays simple, not much to her voice right now, but least it doesn't sound weak, maybe a hint of sadness but very little of it.

DoraRose goes to lay a paw on her friend's arm. "Hey, if you need to talk, I'm right here. I....my parents are dead....too, so I......kind of.....understand."

Zinnia stops writing and looks at the mousemaid, "I am fine." That's not totally the truth but that's her reply, "And sorry." She starts to frown and then closes her eyes, opening them again slowly, she refuses to let a frown try to creep in again, she refuses to let any emotions slip out.

DoraRose's brows furrow with concern, but she decides to not say anything about her friend's lack of communication. Instead she looks at the lists. "Whatcha been doin'?" She asks with false cheerfulness.

Zinnia answers "Supply lists, harvesting is happening now as you know." Plain and simple, and without a smile or a frowns really.

The door to the library can be heard to open. A red fox quickly darts into the room, closing it as soon as soon as his tail is free of the apature. He wears an over coat over his shoulder more like a cape. his slender chest and belly are bare save for the sling binding his left arm in place. "Healers my eye...Butchers the lot of them...just here to steal my tail..."His eyes have rings over them, perhaps from a lack of sleep. [Rascal]

DoraRose nods as she glances the lists over. "I've helped with the garden and canning." She jumps as the fox enters, the slamming door muffling the hollered shouts that sound suspiciously like Angela. "Get BACK 'ere, ye brush-tailed, twingey-pawed buffoon! Ye'll rip all o'yer stitches out!!" A clack resounds of the door as the irate healer hits it with her staff.

Zinnia looks over at the fox, oh great it's him as she focuses her attention on him first, "This is a library, do be quiet and have some respect for abbey healers fox." She hmmms "Then again...seems you will be taught soon." And she nods to Dorarose and it's back to the lists, the counting of lines and the jotting down of info on the other paper, the placing lists in an ABC order. Its all neatly done and other than the talking she is quiet, she offers no frown or smile or anything, hmms no emotions today?

Rascal lets out an estranged gulp as he throws his back against the door, barring it with his own body. "This isn't a library, its a death trap!" The fox flails both arms...half successfully. "You got to hide me! Do you know what those witch doctors are trying to do to me?" The fox glances behind him at the door and to the badger on a 'diet'. "Please! You have to hide me! We are friends? Remember? I called you plump and you yelled at me. Can't get a relationship better than that!"

Zinnia must have great skill as she tunes the fox out, she does let a small growl escape but after a calming breath she looks at nothing but the paper, she is done with today's lists but she will double check them, anything to tune out that fox and the simple fact she is not wanting to talk to anybeast, unless its very important as one can nod or shake their head to reply sometimes, one listens and looks over supplies and redoes lists and can do so in silence.

DoraRose suppresses a smile and sits back, staring at the fox in amusement. "I don't think hiding from my grandmother is a good plan. She will always find you." Fortunately for Angela, the 6 big burly male otters that help her with badgers have arrived. They go to shove the door open, the combined strength of 3 of them more than a match for the fox, probably.

Possibly. Yes. The wimp noodle of a fox is shoved forward onto his face. He yelps scurrying away on all three paws and collapsing once more before he gets back to his feet, dashing under their table. His wide terrified eyes can be seen from under the table. "Conspiracy! Its a conspiracy! Its entrapment! FOX trapment! You can't keep me here!"

Zinnia eyes narrow, ok this could be bad as she takes a deep breath and exhales slowly "Leave...my...library...now...fox." Its said calmly, a dagerous calm. She will even point under the table, yep the fox is there get him she silently seems to say.

DoraRose scrambles out of the way as Angela storms across to the table and goes to grab the offending fox's ear. "Get back into the Infirm!!" 4 of the otters lift the table as the other 2 go to drag the vulpine back to the Infirmary, the old healer stomping behind, giving him a piece of her mind. She's not saying anything profane of anything, she's just threatening him with all sorts of icky tonics and sleep-inducing drugs. Oh, and restraint via ropes onto a bed. The Warrior shakes her head and sits back down, leaning on the returned table, and watches the last otter leave, gently closing the door behind him. "Well. That was exciting." Sarcasm. /Sarcasm...../

Rascal is dragged away pathetically easy, kicking and screaming as he goes. "Foxtrapment! You can't do this! I have rights! I demand a lawyer! I want...I want..." the fox goes limp as he is taken back to the infirm, "I want to go home..."

Zinnia waits as the table is lifted and returned, like this is normal somehow, yes a fox dragged away back to the infirm, it's like oh well now where was I...oh yes the supply list being looked over and double checked, she then lays them aside and yawns.

DoraRose turns back to her friend in time to see her yawn. "Zinnia, sweetheart, when was the last time you had a decent sleep? Y'know, if you're having trouble sleeping, then I'm sure Nana or Leon could give you something."

Zinnia answers, "I need to get this done, then I can sleep Dorarose." She does sound tried, and looks it if one looks closer, she has sleep some but not as much as she should be. She is done with the paper and has no more excuses, or does she "I have to get this to Abbot Benar, the list and then do some dusting and fixing books in here." She yawns again, great as she can't control that.

DoraRose goes to gently take the list from her friend. "How about /I/ take the list to Benar? I'm sure the books will be fine until tomorrow. C'mon....let me help you. Please." She holds out her paw, silently pleading for her friend to open up to her, even if it's just a little bit.

Zinnia frowns, "I am..." She yawns and stands, she does let her take the note, and seems to start to follow her, "Maybe...5 minutes, then have to get back to library.....'kay?"

DoraRose smiles softly. "Sure, my friend. Sure." She stops by the infirm and gets a very light sleeping draught from her grandmother, then goes to lead the badger to her room. After handing the Recorder her drink, the Warrior leaves to take the note to the Abbot. But a heaviness is weighing down her heart. How can she get Zinnia to talk to her?
