The Stoat and the Otter

From Redwall MUCK Wiki

Characters: Kentar, Aikuen

Location: Domus of Pacis Lepus: Visitor's Quarters

Its evening now, and the group, minus Kentar, should be returning to the visitors quarters. Kentar was already there, since he never left. He's sitting up after having gotten his wounds properly bandaged, and such. "Thanks..." he smiles to the mousemaid healer who was making sure that the stoat knew how to redo the bandages properly in the future. Still seeming a bit tired, he lay back down and stared upward for a bit, not going to sleep.

Aikuen comes in from the main hall, nodding a bit to a rabbit-maid, "Aye... I know... Im just gonna get some sleep." He walks in to the quarters and smiles to the Stoat, "Hello matey... See you got all patched up" He goes to sit on his bed.

Kentar yawns a bit and slowly looks over to the otter, giving a bit of a nod. "Good to be all patched up. Finally" he replies quietly. "We should have brought a healer with us when we left the abbey" he chuckles quietly. "What's the place like?" he asks. "Outside this room"

Aikuen scratches his head, "From the abbey?... The only healer that would even think about going with us, is Henry... And would have cut your arm off or something..." He shrugs toward the curtained door, "Almost exactly like the abbey... Except more hunky dory then ever... Its unnerving actually." He laughs a bit.

Kentar tilts his head some, not seeming to find it funny really. "Huh? What do you mean cut my arm off?" he asks. "Would have been a healer...Good to have regardless"

Aikuen laughs anyways, "Haha... Well Henry the Happy, but crazed, healer. Tends to heal things well... the old ways... It works dont get me wrong... But he wanted to use a dagger blade to suture me up. He would be the only one, who would even consider coming with us. I think my healing skills, and Firas, will be enough."

Kentar eyes and grins. "I'd rather have him then you try to heal me. I mean your the one who injured me" he laughs a bit before rubbing his head a little. "I still have a headache thanks"

Aikuen sticks out his tongue at the Stoat, "Yah matey, i clocked you... Never gonna let that go are yah..."

Kentar laughs and grins. "Never" he laughs. "Your just glad the healers expect me to make an...almost full recovery" he replies

Aikuen smiles, "Thats good to hear matey... er... what do you mean almost?" He eyes the the Stoat.

Kentar grins some more. "Well, I still need to travel with you, don't I?" he laughs before sighing. "Oh, well. They said I may have headaches for the rest of my life...Getting hit a dozen times on the head doesn't do much good"

Aikuen says, "Well i guess thats better then dying... Do they make you a potion for your headaches"

Kentar nods. "They said they would. Would be ready by the time we leave" he says quietly.

Aikuen smiles and nods, "Don't know when we are moving out again... Up to Will... he seems to know to know more about this places then he leads on... hmmm" He scratches his chin fur.

Kentar nods slowly and sits up a bit stiffly. "Where is he leading us anyways?" the stoat asks, looking up slowly before back at the otter.

Aikuen sort of got up when Kentar started to move, just to help him. But seeing that he doesn't need it, he just sits back down. He shrugs at the question, "Dont know... All i know... is that wherever he goes... that i need to follow... Keep him from being killed, and... to not kill anybeast either..."

Kentar nods. "Right" he replies before thinking, giving a bit of a chuckle. "Why did I agree to go with you guys?" he asks, smirking a bit. "I don't regret it I mean, I'm just wondering is all"

Aikuen snorts, "Not sure matey... But glad to have you along! Maybe you were bored?" He laughs, then continues, "Do you know why Fira came along? She sorta just fell into the party, is best i can make of it..."

Kentar chuckles. "Well...Thanks for being glad" he says. "Glad I came" The stoat smiles some before shrugging. "No, I don't know fully why she came along...I think there's something more then just falling into the party"

Aikuen rubs a claw on the mattress absentmindedly, "I hope she likes the trip...She kind of got angry at me yesterday... hope its okay now..." He looks off into the distance.

Kentar nods some then tilts his head. "Angry at you?" he asks. "For what?"

Aikuen looks up to the Stoat brow crossed, "Because i didn't tell her that im... Well, a berserker... and that it goes off... Like that dream i had... She was just about to get up and go outside... well i guess she wasn't really angry at me... more of cheesed off. But still!"

Kentar ahs and nods slowly. "Ah...Well. Don't worry, you can't stay mad at someone forever" he chuckles.

Aikuen smiles weakly, "I hope so.... You know matey... ever since i landed in Mossflower, 3 seasons ago... she is the first otter i have ever seen... of the... um... other persuasion..." He smiles awkwardly.

Kentar tilts his head some and chuckles. "Really?" he asks, laughing a bit. "You like her don't you?" the stoat grins widely.

Aikuen places both paws on his head, and drags them down, and specks indignantly "Well im not saying i don't like her... if that's what you mean... But yes... She does have that certain charm..." He looks off into the distance again and smiles. He comes back to reality, "What oh... er... yah..."

Kentar chuckles and grins. "You like her...I can see it" The stoat laughs some more before smiling. "Don't worry, I won't tell her"

Aikuen stands up and points at the Stoat, and makes a big show "I have no idea what you are talking about... I like her like a friend... Not like... The other thing...Thats... Thats just silly!" He laughs sarcastically before sitting back down and placing his head into his paw. After a bit he mumbles out, "Thanks matey..."

Kentar laughs. "Sure, sure" he nods, grinning some more. "Don't worry, Its safe with me" he says after the mumble.

Aikuen grumbles for a minute before looking up, "Alright... So you know... That's fine..." He drags his pack closer to him and asks, "Have you eatin' anything today?... I could go get some if you wanted some..." He straps the pack together then shoves it back to where it was.

Kentar chuckles and nods. "I have eaten...healers brought something when they came into do up my bandages" he says. "Thanks though for the offer"

Aikuen nods, "No problem... Just whistle three times, if ever you need me... And i will come a running. By the way, Did the healers give you any sort of potion?" He asks, "I want to know if there is an alchemist around here... i got one more dose of my... ahem... medicine... don't want it to happen again..."

Kentar shakes head. "Not yet. But they said they'd be back at the end of the night with something for me" he replies. "Should ask them about getting you some more of your potion"

Aikuen nods, "Right, ill do that... I wonder what type of stuff there going to give you... if its something simple... argh..." He grunts as he leans back onto the bed.

Kentar shrugs and sighs. "Who to thought that I'd ever end up on a potion to keep myself from being in pain" he closes his eyes.

Aikuen laughs, because as one gets older, potions become a part of life, "Just wait till you get older matey... you'll take a potion just for about everything... Hahah. But that's alright matey, just somtin' you gatta do."

Kentar looks over, slowly opening his eyes and sighing. "Yes, but if you never punched me...I'd be on no potions yet. At least I don't think so" he shrugs.

Aikuen snorts and laughs, "Yah i know... Hares put you on the edge of the cliff... But i pushed you off..." Aren't metaphors wonderful!, "Well maybe its only a one time thing, Gatta think positive on these things."

Kentar nods and smirks slightly. "Yeah, its all your fault otter...should run ya though right now" he snarls then laughs. "Ah...well. I forgive you. At least I'm not dead, so I have something to be happy about"

Aikuen becomes mock afraid as the snarl, laughing along with him he says, "Thats the idea mate... Thinking of the positive and looking ahead... Speaking of which do you know, what you plan to do, after we get back? Cause we all know you are going to live through this!"

Kentar chuckles and smiling. "Yeah, and its a very good idea, looking ahead I mean" he then sighs and closes his eyes slowly. "I'm...Not going back"

Aikuen sits up quickly, "What?! why not?"

Kentar sighs. "I don't know. I don't really feel like I fit in at the abbey. I guess...there's not much there for me either"

Aikuen nods some, still not entirely convinced though, "well you don't have to live at the abbey... I mean i don't. There too goody goody for my liking... I live at a place called Moledeep, Where me an Will have claimed it as our own. Its nice enough." He gets an idea, "Why don't you come live with me an Will! The place is huge! You might like it!"

Kentar thinks for a few moments, slowly shaking his head. "I don't know. I don't want to impose on you two" he says. "I'm not too sure it would be a good idea anyways"

Aikuen pushes the offer, "Come on mate, You wouldn't be imposing! Give the reason why not!" He gives a stern smile.

Kentar thinks before sighing again. "I don't know" he replies quietly.

Aikuen leans back again, but this ain't over yet, "Well until you give me a real answer, im just gonna say that you are going to live there..." He laughs as he begins to imagine, "Ill put a plaque on your door saying, 'Kentars place' Yah it'll look real nice!" Then he thinks for a moment and realizes there maybe another reason why he doesn't want to live there, he sighs, "You don't have to live with us... Will would have liked it... You can do what you want to matey... Im just... Looking at for yah..."

Kentar sighs to himself as the otter speaks, paws resting over his chest somewhat as he stares off into the back of his eye lids. "Look...Its not that I don't want to live with you...I just don't want to end up going then leaving again" he says. "Which is quite possible" the stoat then looks over, eyes open tiredly. "Will would like it if I went and lived with you two?"

Aikuen slowly nods his head, "Aye he would... He likes yah mate... Even if he doesn't show it, that's his way..."

Kentar sighs and closes his eyes, rolling onto his side slowly, not replying right away.

After a good few minutes the otter decides to say something, "You said that you might be leaving again if you lived at Moledeep, What do you mean by that?"

Kentar opens his eyes again. "There is the...chance I may be leaving again. I've been offered jobs. By a lot of cruel beasts. I don't like the idea of working as a vermin again, but I just don't feel...at home in good places, as much as I like them" he sighs, banging his head against his pillow.

Aikuen scratches his chin, thinking, "Well though i don't like the idea of the 'jobs' of what i was thinking of, when you said cruel... but i can understand about not feeling in place somewhere... Why is it you don't feel at home at the good places, but do... in the bad places?"

"I was raised in an evil place. Its probably why I don't feel at home anywhere else" the stoat replies quietly. "I will accept your invitation but I really don't think I'll be there for long...I don't know, we'll just have to wait and see"

Aikuen nods excitedly, "Alright matey! And don't worry if you have to go... like you said we just have to wait and see...and i would hand you a key to Moledeep, but there is no door... and that's because if you can find Moledeep, and get past me... you deserve to get in... Hahahah" He laughs really hard for a moment, before calming down, "hee... hee, well, ahem... anyways..." He smiles a bit before asking this, "You said you needed a job... Well what are you good at?"

Kentar chuckles slightly at the otter's words. "I'd probably have just lost the key anyways" he replies simply before shrugging. "I'm good at fighting...sometimes. Good cook. Good at being evil, heh" he shrugs. "Lots of things I suppose"

Aikuen thinks on this for a moment, "well... Camp Willow always needs recruits, as does the Long Patrol... Though might be difficult because your a... well you know..." He hms, then start to tap his claws on the table, "Cook eh? and fighting skills... Maybe you need to head for Ruinedgate (thats what he calls it)

Kentar shrugs some. "I don't really want a job in fighting. Nor do I really want to go to a place, like the Patrol or Camp Willow because...they're woodlander places. Nothing against it mind you...Just" he replies quietly, chuckling. "No desire to go to Ruinedgate either" he chuckles.

Aikuen shrugs, "Ah well matey just trying a suppose... Im sure you'll find something." The otter hopes that its not 'Cruel'. He gets off the bed and rubs his eyes, "Fighting was all that i was ever good at... well, i was a good farmer... of Sugar cane... But that's because we ran a brewery... I plan to go to camp Willow, Hopefully to become a weapon and defence trainer!" He rubs his paws together.

Kentar nods slowly. "Yeah" he replies quietly, smiling a bit. "You'd make a good trainer" he says. "Good fighter" the stoat nods.

Aikuen smiles, "Thanks mate... I hope so!" He sighs then gets up from the bed, "Ive been gone a good while... I wonder when that healer is going to get here..." He looks to the door as if one of them is going to pop up instantly.

Kentar tilts his head to one side and thinks. "What healer?" he asks.

Aikuen looks to Kentar and tilts his head, "The one you said would be here to administer the potion..." He looks to the window, yep sure is night, he smiles and looks back "I wonder if all those hits made your brains leak out..."

Kentar ohs and laughs. "Right...that healer" he chuckles. "Maybe they did, I don't know" the stoat grins before closing his eyes and yawning. "At least I can sleep now, so I guess that's a good thing

The otter nods, "You can go right ahead and sleep matey... And ill be here if you need anything... " He silently goes over to a table and unlatch's his pack, Pulling out a scroll he begins to read. Once in awhile you can hear the parchment give a soft crinkle as the otter moves it up on the table. Other then that, it remains quiet.

Kentar yawns and nods slowly. "Wake me up when the healer gets here" he says before rolling onto his side, yawning again, then drifting off.

Aikuen silently nods his head, and whispers, "Well do mate... well do..." He is soon lost to the scroll. As the otter waits patiently for the healers arrival.
