The Need To Get Home( Short Long Patrol Log)
Somewhere in the swamps near the sea coast, in a guarded captive area of sorts two hares are keep as slaves, one very recent and one not so recent.
Flint had started to have a bit of hope that maybe they would be rescued, but after a couple days he wasn’t sure, then he had gotten use to being here the past almost 4 seasons now as he sighed and looked at the hare maid. “You don’t deserve ta be here lass.”
Celia stirs and slowly wakes up, almost forgetting where she is she gasps at first and then frowns, yeah she remembers now as she looks over at Flint” Hey…” She says softly.
Flint nods a hello, “Hallo lass, how are you feeling?”
Celina frowns “I want to go home; I don’t like it here anymore.” She looks near tears.
Flint sighs and places an arm around her, “I know, I know…it will be ok, there is always a way to get out of a bad situation and I am sure there is one here, I mean two thinking is better than one right?”
Celina allows the small hug and nods slowly; a couple tears do go down her face.
Flint slowly stands and looks around, “They do let me out for an hour a day; it doesn’t mean I can escape but maybe you can.”
Celina asks “Why can’t you escape, you could just run really fast, it can’t be that hard.”
Flint shakes his head, “It’s harder than ya think lass, this place is slippery and there is sand that looks like mud you sink into, everything looks the same and, at the time they had this eel like creature.”
Celina frowns as she listens, “So it’s..Its hopeless. I will never see home again?”
“I didn’t say that lass, there is always hope and maybe the two of us can come up with something and a good plan of escape. “ He looks up and listens and speaks to her again “I have been keeping some things hidden, on a path in a tree, see they have me collect food for them, but they also seem to be able to somewhat keep an eye on me so I don’t try and escape. But maybe if there is too of us, there is a better chance, wot?”
Celina looks hopeful “I trust you. Wot are you keeping hidden sir and how do you know they didn’t find wot ever it is?”
Flint speaks quietly “A longbow and some arrows I made. I am a very good archer, maybe a little rusty now, but still fairly good. It may help or..well can’t bally well make things worse I don’t think.”
Celina nods “Think I could..try and tag along, maybe we can try and escape during this hour.”
Flint nods “That’s the plan lass, or least get you out of here. The Patrol most likely think I am dead after all this time, but you, you only been away a week “
Celina nods “Yeah, about a week now. Do you think they are looking for me sir? Or do they care, they were sometimes yelling or telling me this is right and oh that isn’t all the time.”
Flint sits closer “Lass, oh course they be looking for ya. Why would they not. The Long Patrol is a family and family looks out for one another lass and they only try to teach you right from wrong to protect you, teach rules to help you later in life.”
Celina sighs but nods “I wish I never left now, I miss home and I miss” She frowns “Seaweed”
“The bird?” He frowns “ Not to worry we will get out of here and maybe we can make them toads think twice of killing friends, sides ya seagull friend would want you to try your best and get home as well.”
Celina nods again “We sort of grew up together, found him in an egg and it hatched and he called me mama..it was when I was about 2 seasons old and now I am 7 seasons and he was..was 5 seasons, still a kid. I am sort of still a kid.”
Flint nods “And that’ s another reason ta get ya home”
Celina speaks quietly “And you home as well sir.”
Flint looks surprised, he then nods “Well, we will see lass, we will see. Now it’s best to try and get some sleep ok. Sides I most likely been forgotten all this time, presumed dead and all that wot” He goes to lie down and get some rest.
Celina watches him quietly” I am sure your missed by someone still.” She sighs and lies down. “Long Patrol never leaves a hare..a hare behind” She says and then closes her eyes to sleep.
