The Changing Face of Evil

From Redwall MUCK Wiki

Characters: Robin, Anba_Hor

Location: Izmir infirmary

After having left home by Kentar's request, Robin has been tracking, and hunting down Anba. Using contacts his uncle had before he died to get at least the general direction. And it was hard to figure out where he would be. Until his last contact gave him the information he needed. The stoat was abound for Izmir. He had made it into the city and started asking around about employment and where the fox might be. Robin wanders into the infirmary after having talked to some random beast on the streets and now, he's going to talk to a healer. "I'm looking for a fox. Anba I think his name is..." he tells one of the healers, who he waits for direction from.

Anba_Hor is meanwhile sitting up in bed, and refusing to see healers. He's asked for supplies, which lie on a tray bedside, and as he studies them carefully he looks up to see one of the healers, also a fox (they all seem to be here), getting up and going out to see somebeast. Taking a deep breath, he wraps a bandage around his wrist, the one he had been slowly working out of the shackles from his prison at Redwall. "Second grade bandages, ha! I have better supplies in a ditch, now what does /that/ say? Foxes ruling the world, what a ridiculous dream these folks are living..." He hears more commotion outside...

Robin's ears perk to the sound of the fox. He nods at the healer and then heads towards him. "I know what you mean. A laughable idea." the stoat nods, stopping a foot or two away from him. "Anba I presume?" the stoat tilts his head, arms folded. He's hiding his fear very well and its easy since there isn't much there in the first place.

Taking one look at the stoat and rolling his eyes, the fox leans back onto his pillow and sets the rest of the spool of bandages down. "Hmm... no, I'm afraid he's already left here, headed south I think. What need have you of him - I may be able to help..." The fox paws at a dagger - his only one left, underneath the bedsheet. The fox squints and shakes his head; no, it isn't... is it? That would be too good to be true, he thinks, as the fox's face twists into a grin - still, it's one that can be interpretted innocently enough.

Robin eyes the fox closely and smirks. "You can't fool me." he nods. "Even if you aren't him, its beside the point. I'm looking for a job." he states. "And I know that you might be looking for a minion or a hired goon or something?" he asks. "Perhaps a body guard?" laughs the stoat.

"You've got to be joking... me? I /am/ a body guard; my own. And if you're looking to help me, maybe you could give another stoat I know some good advice - don't go looking for a fox with a fox." He stares hard at the young stoat, studying him intensely with eyes that seem to be getting their opalescent sheen back, "And here's some advice for you - don't go looking to fight a fox in a land of foxes. I'm practically their god here..." He says this while keeping a keen eye on the surrounding beds and nurses - he doesn't want to try their hospitality...

Robin hrms and eyes the fox even more before laughing and sitting down on the cot in front of Anba. "Alright, fine! You got me. It was the accent wasn't it?" he smirks. "Yeah. That would be Kentar the idiot, wouldn't it? The stoat who killed my real dad and had the nerve to bring me in himself?" he starts laughing. "I'm here because I want to join you. Not for money or for fame. For revenge. I think a beast like you might admire something like that

Anba_Hor is starting to wonder who let this kid in! "You expect someone like me to take the word of another scumbag like you? I lined the walls of my former den with bodies of kittens like you. They make good decoration, until their fur rots off and I have to replace them. The ones who bothered me the most got to rot while they were still alive, though. Hah, admire you? I'll admire you when you're my equal. Which will be never..." The entire time, the fox's eyes pierce into the stoat's brain; two giant orbs with no way to tell in which direction the fox is gazing.

Robin smirks. "If I wanted to dead or anything like that, I'd have killed you already. I'm a proper soldier. Unlike the traitor. If you don't want to help me, fine, I'll go elsewhere." he stands and heads for the door. But he stops and swings around, laughing. "You know, your not so good after all. I thought you'd have never let yourself get captured by a woodlander fortress like Redwall." he cringes at the name. "All I see is a coward. A dead coward." he frowns, arms folded still.

Anba_Hor tilts his head, and forgets his sense of humor - he leaves the stoat to laugh without a word. Just staring. The fox doesn't blink once, he just studies every twitch and movement... almost like a reptile waits for prey, without so much as breathing. Slowly, some semblance of warmth comes back into his face and he laughs, much louder than the stoat. "You've got me there, lad! I didn't know at all what I was doing when I let them take me into their very abbey. Little stoat - nobody is now more qualified than me to bring that abbey tumbling to its knees... and thanks in large part to my capture." He continues laughing at the stoat. "You really have me figured out, don't you?" He laughs so hard, the fox starts snorting!

"You could have died you know." Robin says with a nod. "They could have killed you. And there would have been nothing you could have done about it." he frowns. "You can't make a blunder like that again. It might cost you next time." he nods again. "I don't see why your laughing. I don't even scratch the surface of having you figured out. I admire you. Even look up to you." the stoat says, starting to step towards the fox again. "I want to help you finish the abbey. I want to help you burn the lands. I want to be a part of it. If you don't want me, then fine, thats your call. But I want to help."

Anba_Hor slowly stops himself in his laughing, "And I don't see how you could even come close to being anything but a nuisance. Maybe you'll be an interesting challenge, when you decide to mutiny and take revenge for your father... at the very least it'll be a little bit of fun to break the monotony of marching through Mossflower... fine, whatever - leave me for now, go practice with your wooden sword." He wipes his eyes, calming himself from the fitful laughter.

Robin smirks. "Think whatever you like, Anba." he nods. "If you decide to help, Kentar and the others are living in a cottage in the meadows near the abbey. If you want to kill them, go there. I'll be at the gull if you decide you want my help or not." The stoat turns. "You think I'm lying. I'm not. It was a pleasure to meet you." The stoat says simply before walking out, and heading on the road for home. His plan worked, or so he thinks.
