Tears, fire, wounds, and a melancholy ferret who makes really good stew...

Sorry that it's so short....

Ferravale Cheiftain's Home

Scioto the cat. Ferdinand the ferret and Blisa the cat. Basilisk "Basil" the whiptail snake.

The door opens and in stumbles Scioto, yes stumbles as he walked here and he has a freshly bandaged lower left arm and his footpaw hurts, he manages to get to a large soft chair after limping the last few steps and sits down in the chair.

Blisa had been sitting by the fire, but upon seeing her father come stumbling in, she hops up and rushes over to him, alarm showing in her eyes. "Daddy! What happened?!" Ferdinand, who had been leaning on the mantel, also comes over, but he hides his worry.

Basil the snake has been resting by the fire as well. IF anything the snake has grown longer, and a bit wider since the chief last saw him. Basilisk looks up lazily at the cat returns, then returns to staring at the warm, comfortable fire.

Scioto frowns, "Nightfur happened...but I wasn't hurt as bad as could of been and he ran off after a while."

Blisa gives a little shriek and crawls onto her father's lap, tears pouring down her cheeks as she goes to hug him tightly around the neck. "Don't you ever do that again, Daddy! How dare you go and get yourself hurt?! Don't you care..." she starts to get choked up now. "Don't you care that....you're my...only family...left?" Ferdinand shifts uncomfortably, and quietly slinks back to his place at the mantle, the flames making his strange golden eyes seem even more enigmatic, and his face seem ancient and worn.

The snake sighs at the kittens outburst. He removes himself from the fire, repositioning himself around the couch. "Bassssilllisssk..."

Scioto hugs Blisa "It is alright, I was trying to help an otter, and prevent the sale of some slaves, sadly the otter died and the slaver got away with some slaves but one slave was saved at least and is safe at the abbey now"

Blisa hiccups from her sobs, and buries her face in her father's shoulder. Ferdinand just watches, his golden eyes sad and melancholy, with a faraway look in them.

The snake reaches up and rests his massive head on the back of the couch. He stares at them both with wide, unblinking golden eyes.

Scioto rubs the kittens back, "it is ok...I am fine see "

Blisa quickly quiets down, and just sits there, hugging her father tightly around his neck. Ferdinand's face is dark, angry, and sad, and he looks like he's mind is off in another world.

Basilisk rests his eyes on the larger cat, "The kitten isssss...worried about....you." the snake hisses in a way that is impossible to tell if its angry, happy, or otherwise.

Scioto looks over at Ferdinand "Ferdinand...what is wrong, did something else happen?"

Ferdinand twitches as he hears his name, and he comes back to earth, but his facial expression doesn't get any less melancholy. "No...nothing elthe happened here. I'm jutht....remembering thtuff." Blisa peeks up at the snake, then reaches out to gently pat his nose.

The snake blinks once or twice at the beast petting his nose...or at least would if he could. Instead the young whiptail widens his eyes then leans into the pets. Pet...pet...pets, food, warmth. BLAST IT! Basilisk is a PET! The snake whimpers as he realizes this, even so unable to stop himself from leaning into the pets.

Scioto asks, "Remembering what? And Nightfur will be stopped, I am unsure if he is coming here or not but least we have an idea where the base is now"

Blisa giggles and continues to pet the snake. Ferdinand stares into the flames, his eyes hardening as he answers, "My family. I'm remembering my family. But it'th not to worry about...I hope Nightfur thrivelth up and dieth. Did you injure him in your fight, Thir?" He looks at his boss as he changes the subject; anything to get the questions off of him. But he still looks sad, and angry...

Scioto says, "I cut him once, the guards did more injuries and he retreated, the otter and the dibbun were taken to Redwall, I rested and returned here"

The snake raises his head a little, "Bassssilllisssk...eat fur of night?" the snake says hopefully. This pampering is nice but...degrading. Is he even a real snake anymore?

Blisa giggles and crawls up onto the back of the chair, her footpaws resting on the Cheiftain's shoulder. "If he attacks this house....sure, I don't see why not." Ferdinand nods and smiles grimly. "Let'th hope he getth gangrene in the cut you gave him."

Scioto says, "I am unsure, he run down river, there was a weasel also, very dangerous looking"

The snake shivers, "Itsssss cold out there...." Basil hopes this night fur comes to attack the house. No reason why he should...The snake cringes. Is he becoming lazy too?!

Blisa giggles and hugs the snake, then goes back to her seat by the fire and begins to read again. Ferdinand nods, then politely excuses himself and goes to prepare supper for the four of them...making a stew with lots and lots of chopped up veggies to help him get rid of his pent-up anger.
