Tavern Troubles

From Redwall MUCK Wiki

Lacota is seated in a far corner booth, sipping from a mug of ale now and again. He keeps to himself, not liking his surroundings one bit. "I need to get back to Redwall... Today," he mutters to himself.

Emyuil too is in the tavern, looking very on edge, his cloak wrapped around him despite the building spring heat outside and the stuffy air inside. He glances about furtively occasionally, wishing his sister hadn't made him promise to leave his sword back at the inn.

Lacota eventually peers around at the rest of the room, with a sigh, hoping for at least one familiar face. The unflappable Friar is no pushover, but even he has come to the realization that this situation is rather over his head. "Bah. First Krystal wanders off, then I get Lee nearly killed, and now I got Marek, of all beasts, to thank for saving our hides. What did I ever do to deserve this? Since when is being Friar so *dangerous*?" He takes another swig of ale, then makes a face. "And to top it off, their food and drink is horrible."

Emyuil, a few booths away, raises his voice slightly to be heard, growling, "Better than nothing. Besides. You're a woodlander. You have to get used to being in danger."

Lacota frowns. "Nobeast asked you, stranger. I can take care of myself, thank you very much. Redwall is not usually quite so dangerous."

Emyuil unwraps his cloak from around himself. "Don't you recognize me?" he says, mock-offended. "We've met before, and I'll give my opinion where I feel it's warranted."

Lacota peers through his spectacles, then sighs. "Ah, you have my apologies. I didn't see your face, Emyuil. I wasn't aware you frequented Ferravale that often... Then again, I don't myself, usually." He throws his paws up. "But mitigating circumstances and all..."

Emyuil nods. "Apology...accepted, I suppose. And I don't usually come here...if some of a certain crazy mouse's henchbeasts hadn't waylaid my sister and brother-in-law in the woods..." His eyes flash with anger at the memory. "They're both injured pretty bad."

Lacota sighs, shaking his head. "Aye, I met the beast yesterday... Krystal had gone missing, so I asked Lee to help me look for her. Thankfully, we found her before she could be hurt, but Lee got seriously injured, and that... Marek fellow saved him."

Emyuil growls in the back of his throat. "Pah. Marek. Wish we'd killed him when we had the chance."

Entering the tavern with his tail dragging behind him Bandit grumbles to himself as he walks across the room. He clutches at the blue tunic around his pudgy torso and cringes. The fox feels like a dressed up city fox in all these fancy city clothes. "Dang it...maybe I should go back to wearing my mouse hide vest..." He says alloud to himself.

Lacota nods. "Well, I'm in agreement there, but at this point, what can a beast do?"

Emyuil is about to respond when he hears the phrase 'mouse hide vest'. Without even thinking about it, he stands up, knocking his chair over.

The brown fox turns, as does every other patron of the bar, to the sound of the chair knocking over. Bandit catches sight of the mouse and the familier squireel and quickly puts two and two together. "Oh boy..." The fox says, rubbing his snout, "Lacota, who are you offending THIS time?" The fox strides over, "Listen mate, I know the squirrel can be a paw full sometimes, but beatin him up isn't the answer for what ever he did to offend you..."

Krystal peeks inside the tavern and looks around before slowly coming inside

Emyuil wishes desperately for his sword, and now he's right up in Bandit's face, seething with rage. "Not Lacota. /You./" His paws are clenched and his eyes are practically burning with loathing. "Did you say you own a mouse hide vest?"

Lacota wisely keeps out of *that* building brawl, and waves to Krystal. "Over here... This place can be dangerous, Miss."

Krystal quickly goes over to Lscota, "Lacota, I am so very glad to see you, I dont like this village its a little...scary"

The fox considers his next words very carefully. Taking a moment to gather his wits the fox coughs nervously. "Ah, you heh, heard that." He tries offer the mouse a smile, "Um, no? No! You heard wrong, it was um...a moose hide vest...yes, that's it."

Emyuil growls. "I know what I heard. I'm going to ask you again, and don't lie to me. Did you say it was a mouse hide vest?" He seems quite reasonable for a moment, if a bit blunt.

The fox narrows his eyes at the mouse. Crossing his arms he leans forward, "Ok yes, I have a mouse hide vest. IF you are worried about the mouse it came from, no, I didn't collect it. I bought it." He leans forward some more, as if challenging the mouse to do something about it, "You're point being?"

Emyuil takes this in silence before simply saying, "Yup. That's what I thought you said." Almost too fast to see, he throws a punch directly into Bandit's face, with a woosh and a sickening crack of bone. Not waiting around, he tosses a coin at the bartender and storms out, daring anybeast to try and stop him with his eyes. Soon the Half-Rat is gone.

Bandit falls to the ground where he lays for a long moment. His tail twitches and he moans softly, "OwwWwwWWwwWWwwWww..."

Krystal blinks and frowns, great a fight or do you call it a fight even

Lacota hugs Krystal. "Pay them no mind, my dear. Are you hungry, by any chance?"

Krystal smiles a little and nods "But what do they have here even?"

Lacota shrugs. "Not sure, to be honest. Perhaps they have stew."

Krystal shrugs "I..maybe fish, or we could get escorted back to abbey

Bandit whimpers while stretched out on the floor. He rolls onto his belly and then his feet. The fox stumbles to the bar amid laughter from other vermin. Clutching his eye he leans against the bar and begins cursing up a storm. Mentioning words that only a sailing beast would know and very likely put most to shame.

Zee comes walking in and looks over at Bandit and walks over slowly, "Ya lucky there not be dibbuns around lad your choice of words is interesting and why were ya kissing the floor?" He leans on his staff.

Krystal watches the fox and stays close to Lacota, she is uneasy of most here as most are vermin in the village, probally 95% are vermin.

"A mouse dissagreed with my choice of clothing." Bandit said still rubbing his eye. He turns to the badger and the squirrels. "It's not...too bad, is it?" THe fox says, un aware of his swollen black eye.

Zee makes a face "Ya may want to find a mirror lad, your eye is swollen and maybe a healer, then not much healers do for that lad."He sets down and gets an ale, they seem to know what he gets as he is always here this time of day."So...whats new?"

"Other than a half crazed mouse sucker punching me, not too much is new." The fox shakes his head, rubbing gingerly at his sore eye, "Bleeding woodlanders and their self righteous, holy-ier than though pacifist violence!" Bandit pauses and laughs nervously at the badger, "Er...no offense intended." The head guard slowly shuffles for the door, not wanting to find out if the badger is easily angered or not. The fox already looks like a brown furred raccoon with his right eye bruised.

With out much flair the fox simply darts out the door.
