Spreading The Word

From Redwall MUCK Wiki

In which the quaint little fox, Tweeds, spreads the word about the lizards of Beggars pass.

The scent in the air notably changes within the village compared to the sweet fragrant flowery smells outside the east gates. Stale air, rotting food and the occasionally not particularly pleasant smelling inhabitant all assault the nose until it gets used to things. Mercenary guards patrol the high wooden palisade wall separates the vermin village from the outside world, the only break in sight in the form of the main gate to the village to the east. North of the path one of the few stone buildings in the village stands a little run down, now an inn it butts up to the side of the tavern and boasts many beds available, at least that's probably what the sign says, much like the building it's old and the beast who wrote it has probably died of old age long after the paint was last touched up. West finally buildings begin to spring up everywhere and the path widens into a large clearing at the center of the village.

Scioto is by the entry keeping an eye out for any trouble as one of his guys didn't feel good so he took over for tonight.

Striding down the path comes Tweeds. He looks a bit haggard and road weary, but other than that he seems none the worse for wear. He steps through the gate and glances around, seeming a bit apprehensive at being back in a

populated place. After a moment he catches sight of Scioto and, After looking the cat over, nods carefully, "Greetings"

Scioto nods "Greetings to you as well, not sure I know you, anyways what brings you to Ferravale?"

Tweeds grins, his former apprehension disappearing, "Nor do I know you! The names Tweeds" at this point he offers a paw to be shaken, "And I've come here with some news."

Scioto raises an eyebrow as he carefully shakes the paw, "News?"

Tweeds energetically pumps Scioto's paw up and down before releasing it, nodding all the while, "Yes indeed! The sort of news a blossoming little village like Ferravale could make use of." He leans in closer and drops his voice to more of a confidential pitch, "You see, there's a nice little hoard of lizards living in Beggar's Pass, not too far from here. And I've come to spread the word that they're open for trading! They've got gold, food, cloth. Anything you would need." He isn't actually sure if this last bit is true, but he intends to make it sound good.

Scioto nods "I see.." He frowns slightly. "I have to know of a place before any trades happen

Tweeds nods understandingly, speaking as if he's trying to sell something "Of course! I'd be glad to show you the place whenever you have the time. The lizards are most hospitable and understanding."

Scioto folds his arms over his chest "Right now I have problems with a large horde being south of here somewhere"

Tweeds grows s bit more serious, biting his lip ring as a force of habit, "I see." After a moment of carefully choosing his words, he continues, "You know...maybe connecting with the lizards wouldn't be such a bad idea. They could help with supplies and, maybe, you could get them to help with all the fighting."

Scioto studies the fox getting a good look at him, "And how do I know they don’t work for Marek"

Tweeds shrugs, "Though this may not mean much, I for one have no idea who Marek is and the lizards are rather....sheltered, from what I've seen. I'm not really sure where their loyalties lay, but it's worth a shot, eh?"

Scioto says, "I will think on this"

The grin returns to Tweeds features, "That's the spirit! I'm going to head off and find a place to stay. If you'd like to get in contact with the lizards, I'll be around." And with that, the fox heads off further into the village, leaving the cat to his guarding.
