For anyone who's missed it, last couple days we've been having a mild case of spammers. It seems to be one or a very small amount of people that make an account, post a dozen messages or so while I'm in bed, then head off.

First off, the correct thing to do if you see spam is to email me (jlbrewer at themindstream dot net), and if I'm around it will quickly be nuked. (Thanks again to Ajax and Aeysin for the last two heads up).

Second of all, both the spammer accounts were using free Chinese email services - I've added blocks for those email domains to the site, and will probably port over the similar ones I already have collected from wannabe spammers on Otter's corporate site that I also manage. In the (I suspect unlikely) event that this actually effects any actual players, they should contact me with the name of their MUCK character and something will be worked out.

Lastly, there are other anti-spam modules that we can install, but I want to hold off on anything like that, both to see if the email blocking in sufficient and because I need to find a spam module that will work with newer versions of Drupal. The other obvious remedy, to require admin account approval, something I'd rather avoid if at all possible. At the moment there isn't nearly enough of a spam issue to warrant considering it.
