Some girls like jewelry. Blisa's one of those girls. XD

From Redwall MUCK Wiki

For this we figured that 1 gold is worth 10 silver, and I'm assuming that 1 silver is worth 10 copper :)

FV:Marketplace

This is probally one of the busy areas of Ferravale during mid-day as a couple shops are here selling there wares and an area set for fruits and veggies to be sold and other goods from carts and stands.Guards wander by many times to help keep the peace and make sure laws are not broken. The area is well kept and keep clean. You can stay a while or head back to the center of town.

Zhu the fox. Blisa the cat and Ferdinand the ferret.

It's something of a nicer day than the last few, which have been something like scorchers that were made worse by muggy humidity from the near by river moss. Today however the temperature is down a touch and the sky is showing patches of clouds from last nights shower, though the path is damp verging on trying to be muddy. Set up against one of the shops walls Zhu has one of her rolls of wares set out, jewelry mostly made of paw polished stones though a few items made from precious metals and stones stud the collection. Since there don't seem to be many beasts currently looking at what the vixen has out there she is working on one of her next pieces, a small chunk of amber that she has down in a bowl filled with sand. Holding the stone down with the digit of one paw Zhu has the other running a string back and fourth over the end that is buried in the sand to put a smooth notch in it. Perched as she is on the frame stool Zhu can keep a fair eye on her goods and the work that she pursues in the bowl on her lap.

She is about to get some business! Blisa Wyrmtamer is out shopping with her trusty sidekick/bodyguard, Ferdinand. Valerie the vixen healer is with them, too, because you never know when a healer will be needed. The petite cat comes up to the stall and begins looking, very respectfully, at the jewelry. She seems unusually happy...not that the amber-carving vixen would know that. The healer bodyguard is also looking eagerly over the wares, while the ferret just smiles and watches the crowds walking by.

With her vision down on what she is doing it takes Zhu a moment to notice the several pairs of footpaws standing near the rolled out sheet that she is sitting behind. Well customers are always welcome, especially their money! Setting the bowl aside Zhu looks up at her potential customers with a toothy smile, waiting for them to make the first move. Something slightly bothers the vixen though in that she recognizes two of the beasts here but can't place where from or why she does recognize their mugs. The jewelry varies in style, some of it being little more than glit and shinny stones on strings to fully carved and shaped stones for ear rings. Most of the bits in the middle fall into the category of bearing moon or half twist motifs with a few stylized fox heads being mixed in.

Blisa is looking intently at the earrings, even though she can't wear them. Valerie picks up a stylized fox head and admires it, saying, "Did you do this yourself? It's very skillful." The cat points to the carved earring stones and asks politely, "Do you have anything like this in a necklace or a ring or bracelet?"

Figuring that there wasn't that much money being thrown around FerraVale Zhu had not bothered to open up the other rolls that contain her more expensive merchandise. With a slight nod Zhu says " Oh why yes ah do! " Grabbing the nearest of the two rolls Zhu starts to unfurl the thing to show more bits and bobs of her trade. The rolls has more pieces on it made from more expensive materials or carved stones that appear to of had more work put into them. Mixed in with the bangles are several necklaces that have either a single carven stone on them to some that are run with colored beads and wire wrapped stones. A few bracelets also are present, but for the most part they are simpler affairs of banded metal or gently curved and polished stones. " I make mos' all ah this mahself, only a few things on there are made by the paws o' others. "

"Oooooh..." Blisa goes to gently finger a necklace. "This is so pretty!" she has that look on her face that some women (and girls) get when they are looking at diamonds and other precious gems. Valerie is happy just looking at the less expensive things. Ferdinand is thinking about what to get his friends for the winter holidays. He's also watching the crowd, but they're pretty boring right now, which is good. He prefers it when no one is trying to kidnap his charge or steal something.

In for a penny in for a pound Zhu figures, might as well break out the last roll with the most spendy of items tied to it. Unfurling the last roll Zhu shows of it's contents, most of which are either made from precious metals and stones with a few bits being colored stones that have been highly carved, shaped and polished. Now that all that she has here for sale is out for display Zhu starts acting a bit more like a business beast and starts to move about the more expensive bits to make them catch what little light is getting through the overcast sky and give weak sparkles or glints. "Most ah bits in the first roll there be on lowest side o coin value, the middle un there has a high range ah values an' the last an' best lookin' one 'as the most bit's in terms ah cost. "

Blisa is almost speechless as she looks, wide-eyed, at the last roll of wares. Valerie gives a low whistle and raises an eyebrow. "Nice...." Ferdinand, his curiosity peaked, comes over and imitates the vixen's reaction, adding, "How much are thethe?"

Pointing out various bits Zhu starts laying out prices that she thinks she can get away with " Well like this 'ere ring would be say 9 gold coins an this here gold wire wrapped stone necklace is worth at least 7 gold coins an this 'ere carved stone necklace would be say 2 gold coins and this here amber bracelet would be about 5 gold coins...". The listing will go on with the last roll until some beast interrupts Zhu or she prices everything that is tied out. The prices range as high as 27 gold for an all gold matching set of necklace bracelets and paw rings and as low as a single gold coin for some of the carven pieces.

Blisa whistles. "That's allot..." she whispers. She picks up a carved stone necklace. She likes it best. "How much is this one again?" Valerie is looking longingly at a stylized fox necklace and asks, "How much is this one?" Ferdinand is just standing there in shock, his mouth hanging open.

Well, those are the most expensive bits after all, just as Zhu had earlier said. Answering the cat first with " That one there me good kitty is a gold coin and two silver pieces. " Zhu then answers the other vixen with " Tha lil wee thing would be about six silver pieces for a fellow fox! " lastly looking at the ferret she goes on with " And ya best clamp ya jaw affore ya catch flies there! How about somethin like this 'ere for your sweetie eh? " Zhu selects a piece from the first roll, a half twist of carver stone with a white stone set in the upper loop and a black stone in the lower one " It would only run ya somethin like three silver? ". Zhu is starting to think she might of over done things just a tad judging by the looks, ah well, there are always other suckers... I mean customers.

Blisa narrows her eyes. "Half a gold coin and 3 copper pieces." Valerie looks very sad, then perks up as the cat begins to barter. She holds the necklace out to her charge with high hopes. The petite feline takes it, but will barter about it after she's done with her necklace re-pricing. Ferdinand scowls at the seller and turns away, going back to his vigil watching the crowd for suspicious beasts.

Wheedling eh? Well, that's fine for a fox to deal with! Dropping the necklace that she had been proffering to the ferret back into it's place Zhu says " Well seein as ya want it fer less than what it cost me ta make I'll say one gold piece! Anythin' less would be like robbery!" The looks from the other two are noted but given no visible consideration. The real cost of most of the baubles are far far less than what Zhu has listed but a vixen has to make a living doesn't she? With one brow raised Zhu waits to hear the retort while trying to figure how much lower to go on the necklace that the other fox had selected.

Blisa smiles slightly, looking slightly creepy as she thinks. "Hmmm......7 silver and 3 copper." She sees this as practice for being future Chieftain of Ferravale. Who knows when she might have to try and bargain with some angry warlord or something?

Giving a smile Zhu says " Naw, I'll let ya 'ave it fer nine silver coins an four coppers an not one less! I have ta eat ya know! Lest ya want to be responsible for a poor vixen starvin, I can'nae eat these stones after all. " There, something else for the cat to chew on while the vixen works on what else to price and counter with for the other possible sales. Something else that vixen does is look over the others properly, trying to spot coin purses and to see how much they bulge, to better tell her if she can get away with the high prices that she is setting.

Blisa crosses her arms. "7 silver coins, 5 coppers, and 1 free-for-you meal." The only coin purse showing is the cat's, and it is bulging nicely. However, Valerie has her healer's satchel, where she could be keeping her money, and Ferdinand has his stone pouch, although it's highly unlikely that he's keeping money in there.

Looking at the piece that the cat has held up just to make sure that she knows which one it is Zhu replies with " One free one for a meal what now? An I'm a tellin ya that any lower an nine silvers worth just ain't gonna get by me paws fer that un." Well from where Zhu is sitting then at least one of them looks like they have the money to afford some of the spendy items, now if only she wasn't trying to get wise to getting things for less, that would make things so much simpler! Looking to the other fox Zhu grins again and gives her a wink just to make things more confusing.

Valerie blinks rapidly, but Blisa doesn't seem to notice. "If you let me have this for 7 silver and 5 coppers, then I will let you have a free meal at the tavern. Being the Chieftain's daughter, I can do that." Bwahahaha! And now she's the one shakin' things up. Hopefully. ....maybe. "That's my final offer. Unless, of course, you want everybeast to know that you're unreasonable. But come one! Who could pass down a free meal?" Ferdinand looks to the sky as if patience could be found there.

Doing some quick mental arithmetic Zhu figures that she can agree to this, not because the threat of ill words said about her selling practices but because she is sure that she can get two silvers worth of food and drink out of this and who doesn't like a grand meal every now and then! "'Tis hard times when a cat will'nae even pay hardly more what this cost wee ole me ta make! Might as well be choppen off one o' my paws but ahl sell it to ya for that then, how will ah go about collecting mah meal as it be? " There, now Zhu will see what the cat thinks she will get up to now.

Blisa smiles satisfactorily as she hands over the money. "I'll take you there, or send you with a note....AFTER we bargain about this." After putting on her new necklace, the cat holds up the piece of jewelry that her vixen bodyguard was wanting. "How much are you asking for this, again?" Valerie sighs and mumbles, "She was asking for 6 silver pieces." The cat frowns, thinking, then says, "3 silver and 5 copper."

Quickly stuffing the money into her pack after counting it at a glance Zhu replies to the offer with "There ya are again want'in ta take somethin' off o' me paws for less than wha' I put inta it! Tha lil stone took me the better part ah three days ta shape an detail, now do ya think tha les than two silver a day is worth it to a poor workin' vixen? I'll say ah flat five ya thief o' a cat! An tha is only because it be for a fellow fox. " As Zhu bemoans the effort that she put in to making the piece she motions with her paws as if she were making the piece then and there.

Blisa suppresses a giggle at the seller's dramatics. "4 silver and 5 copper." Valerie sits down and rests her chin on her fists, wondering if the necklace is really worth all this effort.

Well it looks like Zhu will be doing her best to make that 'free meal' a feast fit for a queen then. " You're a thief cat, if this un were for any other creature than a fellow vixen I would a told ya ta keep your money " Putting a paw out for the coins Zhu ponders how she is going to get away with a meal like that here, they don't serve meat here as far as she knows but maybe the tavern has something that will make up for it, it has been a while since the vixen has had a real good wine, maybe this situation will fix that.

Blisa smiles and hands over the money. As Valerie puts on her new necklace, beaming with delight, the cat pulls out a piece of paper and a charcoal pencil and writes out a complicated note that tells the reader to make the bearer of the note whatever she wants to eat. After dating it and adding that this is good for 1 meal only and adding her name at the bottom, the feline hands it to the jewelry maker and says, "Thank you for the wonderful necklaces. We have many wonderful foods at the tavern. Just show the barkeep the note. Good day." and off the trio wanders. Fortunately for the jewelry seller, the tavern does sell woodpigeon and fish.

Taking the note and the proffered coins Zhu looks over the note several times and thinks about the wording on it, oh yes she can definitely abuse this if done right. "Ah thank ya for the business an' enjoy what ya got there, ah alwus am ah makin' new things check back soon afore ah wonder off! " Already the vixen is starting to get the other rolls put away as she doesn't expect to sell any thing else from them to most other beasts in FerraVale. Already there are beasts moving along and around where the vixen is industriously trying to go back to working on the stones that she had been working on earlier.
