Simple Packing

From Redwall MUCK Wiki

Characters: Tagger, Kentar

Location: Moledeep Gardens

Tis the next day over Moledeep. The sun hangs lazily overhead, the trees slightly bellowing in the cooling air. The pond is quiet as a leaf drifts on top of it. Moledeep as seen better days. But it will always be here in time of need. Tagger is just hanging around... And doing stuff. Always doing something these days. He grabbed some sheets and blankets and laid them out in several squares. One has all his armor and what looks like a special bag with several long straps. In another pile he has food, rations canteens. Loads of things, and rucksack for them. And in the last pile, things that he think that they might need on this journey. Torches, rope, bedrolls, etc etc. With a bag to go along with it. He hums a slow ditty as he works. Organizing and piling. Getting ready for war... Or maybe he is just being overly prepared.

Its been so long since anybody has really 'lived' in Moledeep. Sure Christopher and Thane never left like the rest of their family did, but they were, by themselves, incapable of taking proper care of the place. Which Kentar has been doing over the last couple of days. Just touch ups here and there. He finally makes his way out into the gardens before seeing Tagger and his supplies. "What are you doing?" he asks, tilting his head slowly as he makes his way over.

Tagger clicks his tongue in time with his ditty, as he goes over to the armor pile. Counting all the pieces before saying to himself, "All accounted for. Now... for the fun part" He chuckles to himself as he leans down over the strange bag, and opening it facing upwards. He doesn't notice Kentar. It might even look like he is flat out ignoring him. But its only cause he cant hear him just yet, as the otter thumps the end of his rudder on the ground.

Kentar was about to say something about how impolite it is to ignore somebody when he remembers what the otter had told him the other day. Quietly, the stoat makes his way over and then takes his cane, tapping Tagg on the shoulder lightly. "Oi, otterything!" he chuckles a bit, waiting for him to turn around. "What are you doing?" he asks, tilting his head slowly.

Tagger starts to pile the armor pieces in the bag. Very meticulously. Counting off an old rhyme to make sure he gets it right. Then a sudden touch on his shoulder and he half jumps up, half turns around and half yelps, "OHMYGOODGRACIUSNESS!" he blurts out before making eye contact with the stoat, "Good gravy that startled me." he then smiles and rubs his muzzle, "Gotta get used to beast sneaking up on me" he snorts. Pointing to his bag he says, "What am i doing? Why, im putting my armor in this ole bag of mine. So i dont have to be wearing all of it, all the time!" he grins, "What are you up too, old uncle. Sides sneaking up on me!"

Kentar laughs a little bit when he jumps, the stoat shaking his head slowly. "Haha...I see..." he says in reply about the armor for he smirks at the question. "Me? Nothing. And I wasn't sneaking. I spoke to you but you IGNORED me." he jokes with a laugh, leaning on his cane a little bit.

Tagger sticks his tongue out at the stoat, "Yeah well... You had to be ignored. Cause i can hardly stand ya!" he chuckles as he grabs the stoat in another otter sized hug. Wether he wants it or not. The otter grins as he pulls away, "Anywho. I cant wait to get on the road. As you can see. Im very prepared" he grins and stands at the 'at ease' stance, he is so used too at the Camp.

Kentar chuckles a little bit and nods his head slowly. "I know I know." he smiles. "But that doesn't mean I won't make fun of you." he smirks, shaking his head. "You...have no idea how much you remind me of your father." he says, glancing over the supplies. "Always prepared for anything." he chuckles.

Tagger grins, "And ill always make fun of you old thing. Just how this thing works!" he then smiles sheepishly, "Heh... Thanks. Mum says that a lot. I guess its true. I've started to notice some of his mannerisms in me... Though i dont think ill get all that 'aye aye' stuff." grining stupidly, "Im just excited. This is my first trip where i didn't have a guard watching me. Or my sister poking me with a stick." he rubs his shoulder of the memories.

The stoat nods a little bit and sighs. "I figured you would." he chuckles a bit before smiling, glancing down at the supplies. "Hey, so...could you use some help?" he asks, tilting his head a little bit as he watches him closely.

Tagger smiles and nods pointing down to his armor bag, "Oh yes. See. I have to stack the armor just so in the bag. So it doesn't get all... Loopy, while on the road. Im keeping the chest plate and leggings out. But everything else, including the tail pieces go in this bag." he shows the opening of the bag. Which houses many many different sized pockets, "Or... You can just go over the ration or supply pile. See if missed anything. Then get packing!" he chuckles.

Kentar glances over towards the pieces on the ground and then the rations. He hums a little bit and then chuckles. "I'll inventory the rations...but its only a day trip, maybe a little bit more." he says. "We won't need all of this." he laughs, making his way to the other side of the setup.

Tagger smiles as he positions himself on the ground, so he can work, while still reading the stoat, "It never hurts to be prepared dear uncle. Thats about... 3 days worth of rations for all of us. Just in case... And some for snacking while we work..." and if you blinked. You missed the otter placing a bit of fish jerky in his mouth. Sucking on one end as he clanks in his baggy, "The water on the other hand is a another story all together." he chuckles, like its a joke.

"Its only a day!" Kentar laughs shaking his head. "There is such a thing as being over prepared y'know." he smirks, reaching out to make sure that everything is as the otter claims it is, smiling the whole time.

"Yes! But it could be a day full of DANGER!" the otter grins evilly, "What if... Oh. I don't know. Something. Give me a minute to think about it... AH! What if some poor beast comes by. Starved and haggard. JUST begging for a wee little bit of a morsel. And you only brought a day worth of food. You wouldn't be able to share! For shame dear uncle, for shame!" He wags a claw at the old stoat before laughing heartily, falling to the ground.

Kentar thinks for a few moments and given the situation in Mossflower right now, the chances of that are pretty high. "True I suppose." he nods with a chuckle. "I'd have shared! There's food where we're going y'know!" he laughs before sitting back. "There's enough here." he grins. "You're very good."

Tagger grins as he sits back up, able to catch what the stoat was saying, "Heehee! Good good! I love a good feast or so..." he slowly trails off before going back to packing. Almost getting most of it done, a question catches the otter, "Do you think they will even let me in? It is, no offense, a vermin city after all. And i am... Well, an otter." he hums at the end as if he shouldn't have said anything.

Kentar shrugs his shoulders a bit. "From what Chris tells me, there's an otter already there. And you're not going to be living there, riiight? Just an...extended visit with family." he smiles. "Besides! If they don't let you in willingly...I have my ways of forcing things! I am a stoat after all." he grins.

Tagger perks up at the mention of an otter, "Really? Another otter. I feel better already! And no... Im not going to be living there. Just enough to get my adventure fill for awhile..." He grins, almost evilly before continuing, "Forcing things? I heard some of the stories of adventures you guys have been on. And well... I have to say i believe you" he chuckles, "I leave all the details to you uncle. Ill just do, what i do" he smiles as he closes the flap on his bag, "There. All set. Hope there isn't a war between here and now" he snorts, "You packing anything?"

Kentar smiles and nods his head. "I think Chris said his name was Zocalo or something." he nods, shrugging. "Know him?" he asks, tilting his head before shaking his head. "Nah. Well. My weapons, and some clothes. Other than that, nothing else." he says. "I've been thinking of coming back to Moledeep to live. Rather than at Redwall...or Ferravale." he says before blinking. "OH! Did I tell you Chris opened a bakery?"

Tagger hums the name, "Zocalo? Don't think i've ever heard of him. Might have meet him once. But it probably just went right over my head. Im kinda bad at names" he chuckles, then ponders the what the stoat said, "Move back here..." he glances over at the tunnel, with its fall flowers, "Hmmm... " he just wonders before the stoat is talking again. Must pay attention, but the 'Oh' he heard, so he turns around quickly. "I heard something like that from Amy. He will have to give me all the bread! Mahahaha!" he smiles as he stands.

Kentar nods. "Yeah. I've found myself getting that way recently too." he frowns a bit at that before then tilts his head at the reply to wanting to move back here. "Something wrong?" he asks before grinning. "He might! Might even bake you an ottercake!" he laughs.

Tagger shakes his head quickly, "I dont know... Just thinking bout stuff. The Camp is my home... but so is... was, Moledeep" he blinks and shakes his head once more, perking back up at the ottercake, "Ottercake? Whats an ottercake!? I want an ottercake!" he says very quickly, placing the armor bag on his back, which clanks loudly.

Kentar nods slowly and then glances towards the graveyard that was created around the time that Aik passed, just eyeing the path towards it with a sigh. "Yeah." he nods. "But...I mean, you don't have to stay...you're living at CW now...I'm just thinking of coming back. Y'know, to be here. Probably by myself." he nods then chuckles. "I don't know! But hey...you might get to find out!" he laughs.

Tagger walks over to the stoat and places a paw on his shoulder, "Well... If you do move here. Ill make sure to visit you as often as possible. Even try to bring the twins if i can. You can be like my elder sage! Giving me advice on everything mundane!" he chuckles and claps his claws together quickly, "Im excited for ottercake. If it has hotroot in it. I, am, sold!" he grins a big grin, "So, when are we leaving on this little journey!"

Kentar hms a bit and thinks. "Well. I'm not sure actually. We were supposed to have left by now but you're here! Sooo, I don't know." he nods, but smiles brightly.

Tagger rubs his muzzle, which he does when he is thinking, "Hmmm. Well. Im ready as ill ever be. I guess its up to Amy then." He smiles, "Im ready to take this show, on the road." he jumps a little which causes his pack to jangle loudly, "Look out world. Here comes a Tazan!" he grins and points at nothing, "Then its back before mum and sis kill me" he gulps, "Heh, Woo!... Anyway, How long do you think you guys will be staying?"

The stoat nods a little bit and chuckles. "Right." he just laughs as he stands up. "The world wouldn't be worth living in if there wasn't a Tazan somewhere." he smiles, patting the otter's shoulder before thinking. "Uhm. I'm not sure. At Ferravale? A while." he nods. "I want to spend as much time with Christopher as I can."

Tagger nods as he goes to help the old stoat off the ground, "I guess i should have figured you'd be staying with Chris as long as you could. I will probably head off after a few days or so. should be enough time!" he nods, "Well. I say we get some grub. Working and talking has made me hungry as a badger. Maybe even two badgers!" he chuckles as he walks toward the tunnel, "Come on, ill make you a sandwich. Im great at sandwiches!" he laughs as he heads off.

The stoat nods his head. "I'm getting older and older. Best use the time I have left with my family." he smiles a bit. "Oh, Rob and Sy will be there too...it will be like having the gang back together again." he hums a bit. "Food...food sounds good!" he grins a bit and then, just like old times, he darts off in a run. "Race you, Tagger!"
