RW Abbey: Kitchen
--------------------------------------------------------------------
This is a long, narrow room with five large fireplaces set into one wall, and two equally large wood burning iron stoves set against the opposite wall. Several small, rectangular tables rest in here, but there are no chairs available. The rest of the wallspace is taken up by an entire array of shelves, cupboards, and counters which hold the day-to-day cooking supplies and utensils. The kitchen is clean and well maintained, and more recent efforts have been made toward organization of the cooking ware.
On the wall just right of the door leading into Great Hall is a neatly penned chart, which lists the names of beasts assigned to cooking duty as well as the dates and times they are scheduled. A small note above the chart urges residents to volunteer for at least a slot or two a week.
The light from the windows is bright and cheerful. This room is rather warm due to the ovens being used, and at times can get quite uncomfortable.

Zork-Badger. Zarok-Monitor Lizard. DoraRose-Mouse. Ahndia-Squirrel. Lahki-Mouse (spoofed).

DoraRose is in here, the uber-yummy smelling kitchens of Redwall Abbey, packign the haversacks of food for tomorrows 'expidition'. True, they won't be gone long, but they'll still need lunch or tea or something to munch on. She is busy with a piece of paper and a charcoal pencil, scribbling and scratching and thinking. Her paws and part of her apron front are covered in soot from the pencil, as is her right temple, which she keeps tapping with the pencil as she thinks.

Zarok sniffs the air and creeps into the room. He actually now looks a bit different from recently. He's finally slowly leaving Dibbunhood behind him--His neck seems a bit longer, only slightly, but it also arches a bit more than before, when it simply was too short to do much of anything. His limbs are slightly longer and more lean, and his tail is longer as well. His vest and shorts are a bit smaller on him now than before. He's no hatchling anymore.

Zork pokes his head into the kitchen and groans in annoyance, "Where is he...-grummbles-" He leans on te doorway.

DoraRose looks up distractedly from her paper, the end of her pencil resting on her temple. "Hello, my Zarok. Good day, Sir Zork. Who are you looking for?"

Zarok runs over to his aunt's side. "Hi Dorrozze! Watcha doin' today? You see any fishezzz? You zzee any rocks? Any birdzz? Any cloudzz?"

Zork shrurgs, he gives the lizard an odd look. "Lad..those are all over, welll not de fish, they in pond, but rocks be all over the ground and clouds in da skies, and I was lookin' fer me brother, but cause he is busy so, thought look for you, someone ya was going on a out in and ta help, I thought best listen or regret it later"

DoraRose laughs lightly, if a little distractedly, at Zarok's barage of questions. "I'm getting things ready for the trading trip. I haven't seen any fish, but I did pick a very pretty pink rock from by the pond, and a robin told me hello, and I saw a cloud the shape of an otter. What are you doing to-day?" Turning to Zork she shakes off the slight foggieness of mind from being absorbed in her own little world of thoughts and agendas and feelings and asks him, "I'm sorry, what? Why were you looking for me? My apologiese, I've been rather busy."

"WHOA," Zarok says in awe at DoraRose's answers. He turns to Zork and says, "Yeah , they'zz everywherezz, but that doezzn't make it any less amazing that there are any at all," displaying quite a lot of profoundness for his age.

"Ta go with you on your outing, help carry stuff and protect you if need be and I be all fit ta go" Zork grins "Free from the infirm and annoying healers"

DoraRose smiles at Zork and places a gentle paw on Zarok's head. "Why, thank you. We could always use a strong creature." A novice tugs on her sleeve and whispers in her ear, and the slightly distracted look enters her eyes again. "Hmm...that's not good." she scribbles a bit more and frowns, then writes somemore, the novice adding murmered comments every now and then.

"Wot 'appen, Roze?" Zarok asks, looking concerned and tilting his head, also almost falling over backwards as he tries to roll his eyes back far enough to examine the large blackened area on his head that the soot on Dora's paw left.

Zork asks, "What is not good?"

Ahndia comes hustling into the kitchen, Lahki trailing behind her. Ahndia waves cheerfully at the group of creatures gathered- she waves to a few of the chefs so they know she is here, and will begin her work soon. Until then, however, she is going to stay and chat. Whyever not? She stops walking, and Lahki halts slightly behind her. Ahndia grins. "Hello!"

"We can't take any bread with us tomorrow." DoraRose waves distractedly at the Dibbuns, then continues scribling on the paper, the novice melting back into the chaos of the kitchens. "That's fine...we'll just take lots of fruits and cheeses."

Zork nods "ahhhh, good plan, I got ta do something see ya tomorrow" He walks off to do..whatever.

"I catch fish forya!" Zarok says excitedly before he tilts too far and falls over sprawled on his back. He makes no move to get up; he has no reason to--and besides, everything looks cool from this angle.

Lahki laughs as Zarok falls over; if Casper were here, he would have something funny to say about it, but Lahki can only laugh. Ahndia grins over her shoulder at her older friend before turning back to DoraRose. "What is it? You seem quite preoccupied." Lahki taps the shoulder of the novice and gives her an expectant look. Ahndia claps her paws over her mouth. "Oh! Sorry! DoraRose, Zarok, this is Lahki. She's visiting- she is..um." She tries to faind the right word, and fails. Lahki starts laughing again, knowing what Ahndia is getting at. "Um. Courting Casper?" Ahndia tries. Lahki shakes her head no through her laughter. Nope. Courting doesn't work.

"We could use some fish -- thank you, Zarok. And please get off the floor..I don't want you stepped on." DoraRose writes a little more on her paper, then heads to the doorway, compleatly and utterly lost in her mind. "I need to see about a first aid kit. It was nice to meet you Lahki. I do hope you'll stay awhile. Good day." the she bustles out, headed for the infermary.

Zarok leaps to his footpaws, saluting, before sprinting out to follow DoraRose, maybe something interesting will happen.

Ahndia and Lahki watch DoraRose wander out, completely confused. What is she doing? And then Zarok goes. They watch him leave, too. Lahki shrugs, and Ahndia makes a face. "Ah well. We will find out soon enough, I suppose! Anyway, I do have some jobs to do before dinner. Cummon!" They chatter as the walk off, heading towards the ovens.
