here to see the picture if the image doesn't show up.

Explanation of the symbols on William's buckler:

The X pattern is called Satire and means resolution or resolve.

The Satire is painted black which has the meaning of constancy or grief. In this case the second meaning is the one being used.

In the middle of the Satire is an eagle. Z'Fingo(from the RWMUCk) helped me out by finding me a reference picture since I can't draw eagles free hand.

The eagle can mean courage, protector, a person of action, noble nature, power or strength. All but the fourth and fifth ones would apply in this case.

The eagle is green because everything on here has a meaning and green means hope or loyalty in love. We're going with hope here.

Above the green eagle is blue. Blue means strength or loyalty. In this case it means loyalty.

In the blue area there is a crescent and a wavy line. The wavy line means sea or water. William is originally from the East his birth parents were Searats.

The crescent means second son, William had an older brother who died when William was very young.

To the left of the eagle (your right) is red which can mean warrior, martyr or military strength. In this case it means warrior for Martian the Warrior.

In the read area is what's called an inverted squares line or embattled line. This line can mean fire, town or wall. In this case it means wall for Redwall Abbey.

Above the wall symbol is a heart for charity (thought the heart can also mean sincerity or truthfulness as well) and below it is an apple(fruit) for peace (fruit can also mean freedom).

The remaining two white areas may be filled in later by William or may be filled in later by another owner only time and lot of role playing will tell what will fill the remaining blank spaces or if they will be fill at all.

I used the guide to pick the decorations to use, based on their meanings.
