Redwall Fall Feast!!

From Redwall MUCK Wiki

RW Abbey: Great Hall

The Great Hall of Redwall Abbey. Countless paw falls have echoed from these stones, and untold numbers of feasts and merry gatherings have been held here. A table, not nearly so grand or large as its predecessors, but quite functional for mealtimes, rests near the center of the hall. Chairs exist here aplenty, and they are all of a matching set. High above, the stain glass windows give the Great Hall a beautiful appearance. The glasswork is exceptionally done, crafted by a skilled artist. The floor is clean and swept. A fire is kept burning in the fireplace at almost all times of the day and night, and there are several more comfortable chairs and cushions set up here, of varying sizes. One looks large enough to easily accommodate a badger.

The Tapestry hangs proud and tall, and while the rest of Redwall may still bear the scars of natural disaster, this most famous of Redwall's relics remains unharmed by beast, time, or the elements. The figure of Martin the Warrior seems to be watching over his own with an unchanging, kindly gaze.

Red, blue, orange, green...vibrant patterns of color are painted on the floorstones of Great Hall by the high afternoon sun that is streaming through the stained glass windows.

Leon walks down the stairs and finds his seat as he quietly sits down and waits.

Wilks gets up for a second, saying to the beast to his right, "Hold my seat for a second please, I need to take care of something..." He promptly gets up and goes to wash his hands.

Bastien walks in and looks around, he scans the room and then goes to also find a place to sit.

Rorgan waves Bastien over. "Oy, Bastien! Come over 'ere!"

Lee exclaims, "Ey Bastien!"

Cera is wheeled in by a novice and smiles, she is happy today, hey she is out of the infirm, even if she is in a wheelchair.

The great hall is ready for a Feast! It's never been so full and busy in months. The walls are decorated with bunting, the last flowers of the summer and the beautiful deep tones of autumn all hung up on the pillar and around the stained glass windows. There are long trestle tables running the length of the hall and for the last twenty minutes the Friar and his helpers have been placing food on the tables whilst some industrious Novices have been serving drinks to everyone. There are loaves of fresh bread, soups, salads, cakes, muffins, trifles, breadsticks, quiches, freshly steamed vegetables, deeper n ever turnip n tater and beetroot pie, leek and onion stew, apple crumble, fresh custard, meadow cream in large stone jugs, cheeses, crackers, fine wines, October ale. Everything Redwall has to offer is here and ready and as per the rules none of it has been touched. To even think of starting the food before the Abbot opens the feast is Anathema to Redwallers and guests alike. But for the last ten minutes things have certainly been growing restless, all this nice food, fresh beverages and all. Beasts are starting to look toward the head table and peer, waiting to see when the Abbot will appear. Father Oz has taken his chair and Elder Benar has appeared which is a good sign, the grey squirrel settling down in a chair next to the Abbot. The Abbey Recorder puts in an appearance next followed by Head Healer Leon of course who gets a seat up at the main table with the others. Then at last Abbot Lorimis shuffles in, his walking stick click click clicking as he makes his way over to the table and stands in front of his large oak chair. He looks around at everyone, peering through his glasses and smiles, "Hello everyone," he says softly, "My quite the crowd, is something important happening?" he smiles as he speaks, clearly expecting the response he is bound to get with a sentence like that with all this untouched food just waiting for everyone to eat.

Oz makes sure the dibbuns stay nearby with the help of a couple novices today, the dibbuns sit and get ready to eat.

Timothy has his seat right in front of the Tapestry of Martin, and he nearly jumps as a paw touches his shoulder, his hand reaching up to grab at the beast who invaded his space... well until he remembers where he is. "Sure, why not. I'm not swarmed with company as you can see.

Streamheart is a little late or maybe not, she has on a light green dress and her necklace as she comes down stairs, she reaches the bottom and looks at the large amount of beasts, clearly unsure to a large crowd she seems unsure of weather to stay or maybe go.

Timothy can't help but laugh a bit as the Abbot makes a joke about not knowing what has all the beasts gathered here today. Deciding to play along he calls out "Have you not heard Abbot? There was to be a feast today, surely you could smell the food cooking from mile away if need be."

Lee watches all.

Lee waves Streamheart over to sit beside him

Lorimis smiles gently at Timothy and shakes his head, "Oh I am not as young as I used to be Timothy, but I can smell the food." he grins and raises his hand, "Now then as is our tradition, before the Feast can begin I must name the season.. but before that I have an announcement to make. Cera.... so recently bereft of her mobility has to my satisfaction proven her sincerity and her honesty and thus I am proud to name her Novice of the order of Redwall."

Rorgan grins at the mouse. "Well I suppose I can keep ye company." Today, the otter is wearing a neat black tunic and his fur is newly brushed. His eyes seem to catch the light and sparkle as he looks at the abbot with a hint of a smile as he makes the announcement about Cera, and he lets out a cheer along with many other abbey beasts.

Cera gasps, another surprise as she seemed unsure if he would let her, the smile on her face grows, "Really?!.." She sounds happy at the news and even looks ready to hug the abbot.

Lee says, "I be glad ta hear that, I figured she would be."

Leon smiles at this news as he watches Cera, he stays quiet and listens as Lorimis speaks.

Rorgan laughs at Cera's surprise. "You're surprised about that? I knew ye would be accepted!"

Streamheart walks the rest of the way in and sits down in a chair

Bastien listens carefully as the abbot speaks

Lee continues listening

Lorimis says, "Really my dear, Elder Benar shall be in charge of your education outside of regular Abbey school and learning our ways. He will let me know when he feels you are ready for the next step." he then looks around at all the eager faces and smiles, "I name this the Autumn of Renewal, may we all find a new start to forge forwards and let the wound of the past seasons anguish and war fade away." he then picks up a scone and bites into it, glances at everyone and settles down, "Well? I named the season eat!"

A couple novice helping to watch the dibbuns helps to make sure the dibbuns get their food and juice so nothing is spilled on the floor, and soon the dibbuns are happily enjoying the feast and so are the others.

Lee loads a plate and grabs a bowl of deeper n' ever, and digs in.

Timothy gives the Abbot a beaming grin and then turning his attention to Cera, applauding for the Ferret girl. After the cheers die down he looks to Rorgan, paws already making grabs at food and piling it on the nearest plate. "Your looking well dressed, it'd be a shame to get that tunic dirty."

Cera chuckles, "Thank you Father abbot"

Leon looks over at Cera, "I can find you a novice robe later, for now enjoy the feast and congrats Cera"

Bastien grins as the abbot gives the ok to eat food, he gets a plate of salad, some cheese, pasties, cake, a little pie and some October ale to drink and sits back down, mainly cause he ran out of room on his plate.

Although surrounded by other beasts the sound of eating and munching gives away Bandit's location as he proceeds to stuff himself silly. In a short while Wilks returns and sits down, thankful some beast saved him a seat. "What did I miss?" He says as he loads his plate with food.

Lee says, "Ye better watch Bastien. Ye know wot they say 'bout hares an' food."

Streamheart smiles, she gets some soup and salad and some cordial to drink and sips it as the others eat, she stays quiet just enjoying being here.

Cera smiles, another novice helps her gets some food and drink and she nods her thanks to them.

Lorimis settles down, taking a sip from his flagon and turns to listen to Elder Benar for a moment before nodding and turning back to his food. "Well you all seem to be enjoying yourselves"

Leon gets some food, first for his two dibbuns Caleb and Lillymoore and he even gets his mate Dorarose food too, then he gets his own food and drink and soon sits down beside his family to eat.

Bastien frowns as he overhears "I missed breakfast wot, besides this food be very jolly well good!"

Timothy licks his fingers free of some scone crumbs and delves into another dish happily devouring the items in front of him. His ears twitch as he hears the typical joke of Hares and can't help but chuckle a bit in between bites.

Wilks chuckles as he butters his bread, "Enjoy? Why I am positively delighted." The fox gestures to the spread before them, "I havn't seen a feast like this since my time telling stories for a Duke in the north!"

Lee chuckles as he eats heartily

Cera smiles again, probably happier than she has been in a while and is even talking quietly with a couple novice as she eats some food and sips her cherry cordial.

Streamheart glances at Lee and smiles, "This feast is enjoyable, lot of beasts but..still nice"

Never one to pass up a chance to jab at one of his friends Bandit laughs and calls down, "Hey Bastien! I bet I can eat more sweets than you!" The dare is meant as a jest but if accepted it will give the gluttonous fox a reason to eat more than his fair share of sweets.

Lee smiles. "Aye, ye brighten it up, me dear."

Leon shakes his head and chuckles as Caleb makes his pasty a little flat before he eats it, Leon shows the dibbun how to use a spoon and Caleb does the best he can with it.

Lorimis finishes the food on his plate before standing up and moving down amongst the tables, stopping to talk to people as he goes. he stops near Cera's wheelchair and smiles at the Novices, "So my young friends, are you all enjoying yourselves?"

Cera smiles "I am very happy, things are finally going good in my life and I hope they stay going good"

Bastien gets some more salad and a couple other things, and more ale before sitting back down again.

Rorgan turns to Timothy with a smile. "So how are ye likin' the food?"

Wilks begins into a story with those around him. A tale of action, adventure, and romance. A whimsical tale but interesting none the less. Pity most of it is lost over the noise of the abbey hall. "...And then the heroic princess saved the king and the knight from the terrible Frog King and they lived happily ever after."

Timothy pushes his second plate of food away with one paw while the other rubs his stomach happily while eyeing the other choices of food. Reaching out toward his mug he takes a few long pulls from the drink before answering. "Love it, the Redwall cooks are very good at what they do, probably better at wielding their ladles than I am with a Javelin or Sabre."

Streamheart smiles as she looks around.

Lorimis says, "I am glad to hear it Cera, I am sure you will make a fine sister of the order one day." he smiles and squeezes her shoulder before moving on. He stops by Leon and nods to the little ones, "Are you all having a nice time?"

Rorgan laughs. "Aye, that I'll agree with. Probably better at cooking than I am with a bow." He chuckles and stands. "Anyway, I fear I must be going. I have some business I must attend to at this time."

Lee finishes a plate and fills another

Leon smiles, "The feast is going well" The two dibbuns look up and smiles at the abbot, they are behaving tonight looks like.

Somewhere down the line Bandit has devoured his second plate as well. Poor Cheshire happens to be next to the gluttonous fox, "If you keep eating like that you are sure to burst out of your stitches...and I really do not feel like patching you up again." In response Bandit pauses, shrugs then continues eating. "I fail to see how that is MY problem," the fox says with a grin.

Timothy frowns a bit at Rorgan. "Ah, very well. You take care of yourself, I'll see if I can't pilfer some of this food to eat later on for you." Going quiet he turns in his chair to study the Tapestry of Martin, slowly sipping at his drink and putting a hand on the rim of the shield next to his chair.

Cera sips her cordial quietly.

Lorimis moves along, he stops by Lee and Streamheart then, "And you two? I hear from Elder Benar you are both walking out together. I hope you are having fun here tonight?"

Bastien eats some more food, he gets some water now as he is most likely going to slip out to guard duty again, but before he does, he will get some muffins, rolls and a refill of water, can’t guard if hungry can he?

Lee looks up and nods, smiling. "Aye, I am...in fact...I got somethin' I need ta say, for ev'rybeast ta hear." he smiles softly.

Streamheart smiles, "Me and Lee did have a walk a couple days ago, the woods are pretty right now with all the colored leaves and such"

Leon looks over as Lee speaks.

Wilks eats...a lot. Not nearly to Bandit proportions but certainly enough to be visibly swelled. His cackles of laughter can be heard over the beasts every so often. He turns to Lee 's comment and chuckles

Cera is curious as she nibbles on a roll and listens

Timothy is quiet, turning his attention to Lee and Streamheart.

Bastien stuffs the rest of some cake he has in his paw in to his mouth and grabs a pasty, he starts to head to the entry when he stops and listens, he chews the food and shallows and sips his water, hmmms better refill water..done.

Lorimis says, "Bye all means Lee, go ahead and talk I am sure everyone can listen"

Lee stands up beside Streamheart's chair. "Miss Stream'eart...I've loved ye ever since I first met ye...an' ye've made me so very 'appy...'appier than I've ever been..." he then kneels on one knee, "Stream'eart...ye mean that world ta me...an' I'd be 'onored if ye'd marry me..." he smiles.

Streamheart blinks at the question, she wasn’t expecting this to be asked of her, she looks at the beasts that are now suddenly quiet and looks back to Lee, she looks nervous as she smiles and is at first quiet for a long time or it at least seems like a long time, "I.." She smiles and then hugs Lee, "Yes..of course I will Lee"

Wilks takes a sip from his cup, also unlike Bandit who has gone through a pint of ale with no ill effect, Wilks is still nursing his first glass of wine. The fox pauses in eating to applaud the two otters.

Bastien grins, "Congrats!" He then slips out, but takes one more bit of a muffin, and takes the rest of his..forth plate, with him to the entry, yes the head guard has a snack, wait that’s a snack? For his work time, yes it’s a snack to a hare.

Cera smiles at Lee and Streamheart

Lee smiles widely and hugs Streamheart tight.

Lorimis claps warmly and smiles, "Congratulations!" the rest of the Elder Council also call out their congratulations, including Papa Oz who was in the process of sneaking away, "I hope your marriage will be as romantic as your proposal"

Leon smiles, he watches the happy couple.

Timothy applauds... after setting his ale down of course. "Congratulations Lee, I hope you both live well and long Seasons!" Smiling he turns back to his ale and the study of the artistry on The Tapestry of Martin.

Streamheart chuckles and smiles again,

Joining in the applause is Bandit. Even Cheshire seems to give a small golf clap, about as much praise as one can get out of the cat. Wilks finely turns away with a shake of his head, "About time..." He says to Tim. "What are you looking at Tim?"

Lee smiles at everybeast. "Thank ye all."

Lorimis smiles and squeezes Lee's shoulder then makes his way over toward Timothy, "As Bandit asks, what is it you see in our tapestry my young friend?"

Zork slips in, better late than never he assumes, he got a little too into fixing the forge, then had to wash up but now he is here and ready to join in, he gets a plate of food and some ale and finds a place to sit and grins at all. He hmms "I missed sumthing didn’t I?" He shrugs and starts to eat his food and drink some ale.

Cera waves to Zork as he enters

Lee waves to Zork. "Aye, ye missed me announcement!" He chuckles.

Leon chuckles at Zork, he frowns as one of the dibbuns makes a roll sail through the air, he shakes his head and Lillymoore mutters a sorry and goes back to eating slowly. Leon smiles.

Timothy points up towards Martin on the Tapestry and the scenes it depicts. "I would think what I am staring at would be obvious... but deeper than that? I see a proud tradition, History, a symbol of hope. Someone to look up to and strive to be like. And then the weaving, whomever stitched this did a wonderful job.

"

Streamheart smiles “Lee and I are engaged to wed...no date set yet but maybe soon"

Lorimis chuckles softly, "IO can see you are looking at Martin, it is the Abbey’s greatest treasure... after all of you," he looks around the hall at all the happy beasts having food and enjoying themselves. "This is what Martin fought to bring about. A place of peace were we can all live in harmony."

Wilks looks up to the tapestry. Things have changed quite a lot since the cloth was made. Briefly the fox wonders what Martin would have thought to see a fox...two foxes actually...dining alongside the others in his great hall.

Zork nods to Lee and Streamheart, "Congrats" He smiles at Lorimis, "Hey Lorimis, I gots a lot of work done on de forge taday, may be up and running sooner than I thought it may!"

Lee smiles and kisses Streamheart. "Aye, soon it should be."

Cera leans back in her chair as she looks at the gathered beast, another smile as she feels welcome here now and safe, she has friends and even a family she was adopted into.

Timothy nods, turning to look at the Abbey. "I know, if from what I have read and heard he even hung up his sword to do as much. But there must be someone, always someone who cannot give theirs up. There are many evils in the world that simple words cannot quell." there seems to be a bit of Philosopher to timothy if the statement is any indication.

Lorimis says, "Indeed sadly there are evils into he world but Martin's sword and his chosen champion protect us too," he point across the Hall, "The white fox Flicktail is our champion and martin's current successor." he nods to Timothy then glances at Zork, "Ah good news Zork, once it is ready in believe Elder Benar has a job for you. He say we need to build Cera a new wheel chair the one she is in is terribly ancient."

Leon listens, he looks down to his dibbuns as one has curled up beside him and fallen asleep, Caleb is still up and watching all the beasts between bites of food.

Zork says, "I be happy ta help with that Lorimis, probably in..oh couple weeks maybe, if all goes well that be, I do have a lot of free time"

Wilks chuckles as he sips from his wine, "Let us hope we never meet them," he says to Tim's statement. Cheshire the inventor also pipes up, "Aye! I might have some work for you as well." He says to Zork, Bandit laughs, "And after this feast I might need my armor widened out..."

Streamheart smiles at Lee, she is happy tonight

Lee smiles. "Then looks over at Zork. "I'll have a request for ye, too."

Cera listens as a new wheelchair is mentioned, she smiles at the idea, yes the one she has is a bit hard to move around, but she is still happy it’s a way to get around the abbey and not be stuck in the infirm.

Zork chuckles "Now now..can only do so much at once ya all, and de wheelchair be done first." He grins as he starts to enjoy his food and sip some ale.

Timothy nods sagely towards. "I know, I've met FLicktail and am proud to call him friend." Pushing himself up from his chair the tall mouse dusts himself off and stretches. "My, my... lots of requests. I might just have to wait until Zork finishes them all for him to work on my own. Say Abbot, there wouldn't happen to be any events or games at one of these feasts would there?"

Lee says, "It be no 'urry, Zork, I just be needin' a ring at some point..."

Lorimis smiles softly and looks at Zork, "No Weapons or Armour at that forge please unless there is an emergency.... it is the Abbey forge after all. It should only make metal work that is used in the name of peace never the warriors life." he glances back to Timothy and nods, "Yes down in Cavern Hole after the food"

Zork nods "I don’t plan on workin' on armor or weapons..de wheelchair and I can make de ring, and needed things fer de abbey..thar is de forge in Ferravale for armor and weapon repairs, umm..Belindo or something, talk ta him and his forge is workin' right now"

Wilks slays a scone with a quick bite. "If you need a story teller to spin some tale for the dibbuns or what not, let me know." The fox is looking rather content. Down the line Bandit leans back and sighs happily. A stack of dishes, a war trophy against the onslaught of food placed against him, is piled high next to the fox. He smiles playfully, "What’s for desert?"

Cera yawns as she is tried, she ends up falling asleep in her chair, hmmms is that cozy or should she be taken up to a soft bed?

Lee smiles watching everybeast

Timothy at the mention of Zork's restrictions Tim puts his hand up and rubs his nose. "I don't like Ferravale, that’s why I was waiting." Frowning some he starts towards the stairs leading down. "I think I’ll just head on down into Cavern Hole and sit down for a while." The mouse disappears down the steps, shield in tow.

Leon glances over at Cera as she falls asleep, he smiles knowing the ferret probably had a long day.

Streamheart quietly eats her meal and sips some cordial as the feast goes on.

Lee digs into a scone. "Yer dibbuns be well behaved, Leon!"

Having his fill of fun and food Cheshire bows out. During the feast the cat had been drawing on a pad of paper which forgot to take with him. Leaning over Bandit raises an eyebrow when he sees that the cat has drawn a perfect circle while he ate.

Leon nods "Well one is asleep and Lillymoore is doing well, think she is more curious and maybe a little afraid of all the beasts to do much, least at this feast."

Zork looks over at Cera now, "Looks like de lass fell asleep"

Leon nods "Aye, looks like she did, someone may need to carry her upstairs and place her wheelchair beside her bed."

Wilks stands up from the table. "Well my fellow beasts, I do believe I have eaten my fill. I’ll see you all later in the Cavern Hole." Wilks waddles off in the direction of Cavern Hole, leaving his brown furred counterpart to start on his fifth plate.

Lee chuckles. "He must be tuckered out, Leon."

Streamheart looks over, "Is she comfortable in the chair?" she asks, curious. But she doesn’t know the ferret so is unsure who could do that as she drinks her cordial.

Lee glances at Cera. "Oh, Stream'eart, that be Cera, the lass I was telling' ye about."

Zork looks over at Cera again, "Ya, some beast should but she be ok fer now I think"

Streamheart nods "Oh, a friend right?"

Lee nods. "Aye, that she is."

Leon nods to a abbey sister and whispers to them, the squirrel nods and walks over to carefully pick up Cera and take her to a bed up stairs to rest, he looks to Zork, "Can you carry the wheeled chair to where Cera sleeps, you can wait till after the feast"

Zork nods "I can do that Leon, no problem lad!"

Streamheart smiles "She seemed pretty happy tonight, Cera that is"

Lee says, "Aye, 'appier than I've seen 'er in a long time."

Stuffed to the point of bursting Bandit finely pushes his plate away. The glutted fox struggles to get up. Proving too heavy to even move Bandit finely sighs and gives up. He kicks his feet up on the seat next to him, stretches out, and falls asleep.

Leon nods to Zork and smiles

Streamheart says, "Tonight has been very wonderful so far"

Lee grins, hugging Streamheart. "Aye my dear, a lovely day."

Zork grins, he then enjoys some pie with mellow cream on top.

Lee puts an arm around Streamheart, squeezing her shoulder, and whispering in her ear, "Might I add that ye look simply stunnin' tanight...absolutely beautiful, me darlin'."

Leon glances around as the feast seems to settle down a little, he smiles as he sips some drink listening to others talk around him.

Streamheart smiles at Lee, "Love you Lee..maybe we can have the wedding at the next feast, I think they have smaller ones during winter and spring/summer the large one is always in fall"

Lee nods in agreement. "Winter always be a lovely time for weddin's."

Leon says, "I am sure Abbot Lorimis will be happy to do the ceomony for you two, just ask"

Streamheart smiles "That’s a good idea, we can ask him about a winter wedding Lee"

Lee nods excitedly. "Aye, we shall when we see 'im again!"

Lorimis walks back up from Cavern Hole were the contests and competitions have been coming to an end, the Great Hall is equally quiet. There is the remnants of the feast sprawled across the tables but most beasts have started to retire except for the hard core feasters who never quit!

Flicktail hustles down the stairs in his best Red cloak "Did I miss it?" he pants

Lee waves happily to Flick. "Dad! She said yes!"

Flicktail asks, "Cera said yes?' he looks confused"

Lee exclaims, "No, Stream'eart said yes!""

Lee smiles. "The weddin' will be this winter."

Lorimis shakes his head and eyes his Champion, "Since when were you dad Flicktail my old friend? Come sit down I have not seen you all feast."

Lee makes a place for Flick

Flicktail moves to sit down "I adopted Lee and Rowan, Father

Lee says, "Aye, I agreed ta be 'is legal son, for real son."

Lorimis says, "Oh I see... no one ever tells me anything. Congratulations then to you all.""

Lee says, "Thank ye, Father."

Lorimis says, "Oh I see... no one ever tells me anything. Congratulations then to you all.""

Lee sits nearby. "Aye."

Flicktail offers the Father a gentle brotherly hug "How was yer feast Father

Lee drinks some leftover ale.

Lorimis says, "It was fantastic Flicktail, I could not have asked for a happier feast"

Flicktail asks, "Lee have you heard how Cera is doing? Has she left again yet?"

Lee smiles a little. "Dad, I think Father Lorimis can answer that for ye.."

Flicktail looks to Lorimis "Father? “

Lorimis says, "No... she has not left Flicktail, she... was injured and has been paralyzed from the waist down. She will never walk again and in in a wheel chair.""

Flicktail says, "well We will have to help her best we can"

Lee nods agreement. "Aye, we will all help 'er.

Lorimis says, "Indeed we are doing what we can already.""

Flicktail says, "I feel sad but...maybe she won't die as a vermin"

Lorimis says, "Novice Cera will do no such thing.""

Flicktail cocks his head "Novice?

Lee listens with a smile

Flicktail asks, "Father? Novice?"

Lorimis says, "yes Novice, Cera has joined the order of Redwall.""

Flicktail blinks "Do you think it is for real this time?

Lorimis says, "Yes I do believe so, she recited the charter to me and swore the oath."

Lee claps. "I'm so glad, too."

Flicktail says, "Well I sure hope so, it would make me heart happy"

Lorimis says, "Indeed it would make me very happy as well. But for now my dear friend I need to go to bed. It has been a long day""

Flicktail says, "Good eve Father, I will but up later to bring yer snack by"

Lee nods, standing. "G'night, Father Lorimis, sleep well."

Lorimis says, "and no thank you Flicktail, I had more than enough food at the feast, it is a kind thought but I do not need a snack after this" he gestures at the remains of the feast and smiles, "See you soon"

-And feast ends here, hope enjoyed -
