Salamandastron: Niche

  • -*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* Salamandastron *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-

You are next to a niche in the side of the mountain, which blocks out

everything to the west with its immense rocky bulk. Just barely

visible is a small fissure in the rock, through which it looks like you could

'enter' the mountain.

With: [DYN] Dandelion [IC] Gregorian [DYN] (Marsuvees) [DYN] Lieutenant (Zeraph)

Standing out within the sand of the shoreline - close to the mountain -

Zeraph can be seen, holding a thick length of rope with two weights at

the end of it. This dangles from one of his paws at his side nearly to

the ground itself. The Lieutenant watches the recruits starting to

group close in, looking unsure of what is going on. Yet, he says nothing,

just waiting.

Quinten comes hurrying down the path from the mountain, tugging his

tunic into place as he joins the other recruits near the Lt. he peers at

the rope and frowns "What is that" he whispers to the recruit next to

him.

Dandelion follows after Quinten, hurrying to catch up, trying to chew

and swallow the last of a bun as he jogs along.

Gregorian is already in the group of recruits gathered, standing

somewhere near the back and watching Zeraph curiously.

Marsuvees comes from far downshore, lugging a heavy, red-stained bag

over his back as he approaches the mountain. The sun is in his eyes, so,

for a very long time, he doesn't notice the recruits. When he finally

falls into the shadow of the mountain, he kinda grunts in surprise,

seeing the recruits standing before Zeraph. Shrugging the bag up more

comfortably, he wanders in closer, watching. Amused, apparently. Nodding and

grinning his long fangs at the recruits, he sort of shoulders through

them and comes up alongside Zer, but doesn't speak for the moment. He

simply flickers his ear at the Major.

Zeraph flicks both ears back as he eyes along the line of recruits,

almost like he's mentally counting how many are present. Well, seems good

enough as more eventually hurry out, just trying to not be late. When

these are in place the officer straightens more, ears returning to a

perked position at all the questioning whispers that circulate about the

group. "Atten-tion!" He barks. Good thing the tall buck is loud. Of

course, when Marsuvees arrives, he doesn't even look at him for the moment.

Just waits, lifting the weighted rope a little more. It is then that it

would probably be apparent there are a few boxes lined behind him.

Quinten blinks and stands at attention, back straight, ears up tall and

still the shortest one there, despite how old he is Quint just doesn't

seem to get taller, he frowns at the boxes then back at the rope, what

is the Lt. up to.

Dandelion stands at attention as well, swallowing the last of the bun

with no small effort and trying to get both ears to stand up as well.

Unfortunately, one of them refuses to cooperate.

Gregorian gets into line with the others, glancing to those who turn up

late before he hears the command to stand to attention and quickly

looks back to front, standing up straight and still, eyes staring ahead.

Marsuvees follows Quinten's stare at the boxes. Humming under his

breath, he shoves his bag off to the side and grunts slightly. Staring out

over the recruits, he just sort of crosses his arms and stares at them,

shadow thrown over his eyes from his hat. All that can be seen is his

white grin.

Once all of the recruits are at attention as they should be, Zeraph

smiles. "Now. I know you all are probably wondering /why/ you're hear. But

this afternoon we're going to try an experiment." Grin. The Lieutenant

glance to Marsuvees finally, with a raised brow, then nods to him,

before holding this length of rope in both paws and holding it up for the

younger hares to see. "This is just an ordinary rope, with weights at

the end, right? Well, by the end of this exercise, you will hate this

simple object." The officer looks cheery enough. "May I have a volunteer?"

Quinten frowns at the rope and sighs raising a paw, he might as well,

"Me sir?" he asks "I'll volunteer...though why will i hate it sir? if i

can ask."

Marsuvees laughs under his breath, and moves back alongside Zer. "Oh,

that were downright evil soundin', my son." He blinks at Quinten, and

recognizes him. Rolling his neck, he smirks. "Hm, this oughta amuse me."

Dandelion bites his lip and frowns at Quinten. Beaten to it by a

fraction of a second... Oh, well.

Gregorian doesn't move from his place in line, never volunteer unless

you know what's going on that's what he says.

Zeraph waves Quinten forward. "Come on then. Don't just stand there."

The Lieutenant has already balanced the weighted rope in one paw as he

goes to take up a second one from one of the boxes behind him. "You'll

see soon enough." He doesn't move from his spot, and says nothing to

Marsuvees for the time being. Right now he has to get the recruits

started.

Quinten moves over to Zeraph and stands just before him, eyeing the

second rope and frowning, /oh this is so not going to be fun/ he murmurs

to himself

Flaxpaw watches the lieutenant and Quinten curiously, glances going

occasionally to Marsuvees as well.

Dandelion stands by and just watches, trying to figure out what's going

to happen.

Gregorian raises a brow at the ropes and weights, looking back to

Quinten and to think they'll probably going to have to do this next, bad

day.

Zeraph pushes his paws forward to make Quinten grasp the two ropes at

the middle of them, the weights dangling on either side. "Get a good

hold on them now. And hold your arms out straight. Shoulder height." He

backs up from the poor example, shifting to Marsuvees to peer at him.

"Could you help me out perhaps in this then? Since you're here." All focus

returns to the large group. "This exercise will build endurance,

strength, and give you a little /discipline/ from now on. Any questions, ask

them now!" Barked so all the recruits can hear.

Dandelion eardroops as he learns what is going to happen... Not that he

has weak arms, but still...

Discipline? just what Flax needs. She straightens and tries to look

disciplined and ready to go.

Marsuvees chuckles softly, tipping his hat up. He doesn't really need

it in the shade, but it's a trademark. Brushing off some sand from his

pants, he winks. "Aye, my son. What did'ja have in mind?" He doesn't

look like the type that would be easy on anyone. "This ain't a scourgin',

eh?"

Quinten looks at Zeraph then at the ropes and nods holding his arms out

to either side quite easily, he's a boxer arm strength is what he does,

"Ok sir what am i doing with them now i huave them?" he glaces at

Marsuvees and shakes his head, he really does not like that priest

"Nonsense, Mars. It's an unbiased exercise." Raph smiles to the

fighter. Seems that he remembered his name somehow. The officer turns back to

Quinten. "You just hold them there until I say, never letting your arms

drop from that position. Arm strength has nothing to do with it, after

a while, recruit." He nods for the 'boxer' to get back in line.

"Alright, Mars. Since there are no more questions, make sure the recruits all

have two ropes. And then you can help me watch for any slacking."

Quinten blinks and stares at Zeraph "Wot..." he trails off and moves

back into line, holding his arms out to either side with the ropes,

starting to sweat somewhat now with the strain of keeping his arms straight

Dandelion gets ready to accept his pair of ropes. Hoo, boy...

Marsuvees purses his lips, furrows his brows, then smiles and shrugs.

"Aye." The smile widens as he grabs a box and walks towards the

recruits. First up, Flaxpaw. "Noticed ye were a li'l late, m' dear. Grab some

rope and make th' best of this li'l excerise."

Flaxpaw blushes slightly, bad way to start, being late, and takes the

ropes. "yes, sah."

Dandelion glances over at the strange hare nervously, holding out his

paws.

Marsuvees nods and moves towards Dandelion. "C'mon mate. Yer next." And

so, he continues to move down the line, happily handing out weighted

ropes. It takes a few minutes, but finally, he's done. Throwing the box

carelessly, he sighs through his nose and steps up alongside Zer. "This

cannot be fun fer them, eh?" He smirks. "Grace and Hope are not th'

only teachers."

Gregorian looks a little more worried now as he waits for his ropes,

thinking of anything that could be worse than this exercise...ok he can

think of a few things but there's a lot more places he'd rather be right

now, he looks between the ropes once he's got them, holding them out

straight.

"Cheer up all! It's better than being kicked out of the patrol!" Zeraph

calls with a grin. He nods his head to Marsuvees when he finally

returns without any weighted ropes. "Thank you, Mars. Now lets make some

rounds." The Lieutenant goes to begin moving around the group, looking down

the lines to see how they are doing. He won't do it for too long. And

he's not heartless either, just being strict today. The buck pauses at

Flax and looks her over, before nodding approval and giving her a

reassuring smile. He moves on. "Where have you been?" The officer asks of

Marsuvees.

Dandelion holds his arms out, holding the weights. He groans a little

at first, before he gets used to the strain.

Quinten keeps his arms held out, sweating and grunting as he attempts

to keep his arms straight, they dip sluightly but he forces them back

up, glaring in Zeraph's direction, Jarril's murderours Runner training

was enough, this kind of exercise is unfair and un-needed.

Flaxpaw has draped the ropes over her arm, and holds them out straight,

waiting. so far so good. this could get dull, standing here holding her

arms out, not a big, she spends plenty of time training with weights,

doing push-ups. piece of cake. She returns Zeraph's smile. It /is/

better than being out of the patrol.

Marsuvees strolls almost lazily alongside the higher ranking hare. "Me?

Oh, 'ere and there. I ain't needed at the mountain so much, so I kinda

wandered off fer a pilgrimage." He nods. "Kinda fruitless, though. Got

nowhere." He glances at Quin as his arms dip, but nods stoutly as they

come back up. "Aye, had a good hunt though," he hums, clicking his

teeth slightly. "You been takin' care a the recruits, eh? An' who stuck ya

wi' that job?"

Dandelion just stands there, trying not to think too much about the

weight, or anything else either, focusing on the horizon.

"Jarril is in charge of their basic training most of the time." Zeraph

pauses to thump a recruit on the stomach as he begins slacking. This

causes for the young hare to straighten again, eyes closing. Hmm. He

keeps a good eye on them all, making sure they are doing alright.

"Anyway.." The buck returns to Marsuvees. "as his second in command, I pretty

much take care of them."

Flaxpaw focuses now, ok, harder than it sounded. she wills her arms to

stay straight out, breathing steadily, that always helps, the

breathing. Her ears perk as she thinks she hears the majah mentioned.

Quinten grunts and his ears are drooping down his back now, his arms

beginning to drop, he tries to get them back up but is failing slowly,

dropping down lower even as he struggles to bring them back up

Marsuvees snaps his fingers. "Oh, aye, 'at's right. Yer under Jarril's

command as well. Hm." He lowers himself so he's eye-level with one of

the slacking recruits. "Keep it up there, mate." He grins and the

sweating other quickly complies. Straightening, he chuckles. "Eh, I think I

spoke ta Jarril once. On th' battle field. He were messed up then." He

grins lopsidedly. "Not as bad as you, though. Nice ta see ya out of that

bed." He nods at Quin. "Oy, up wi' those arms."

Dandelion hasn't started getting too tired yet, really. Endless hours

of pushing broom has made him quite resilient in that area, and the

focus on the horizon helps too.

Gregorian glares at his paws as they shake slightly before he forces

them still, think of something else, let his mind wander a bit.

Zeraph turns his attention to Quinten with a scowl of sorts, just to

see if he is holding up well. Erm. The buck shakes his head, then looks

back around the group. Recruits are beginning to sag. "Come on! Keep it

up!" The heat of the day isn't helping either. His voice lowers to a

calm almost whisper when he returns to speaking with the fighter at his

side. "Thanks. I think they won't last much longer. Most of them."

Quinten grunts and gets his paws level and then drops them, letting the

ropes slide off his arms and onto the ground with a thunk, he soon

follows panting softly and wiping his head fur.

Marsuvees shrugs, squinting as he glances at the sky. "Did'ja expect

them to," he murmurs back out of the side of his mouth. "If'n ya ask me,

this seems a bit cockamamie. Ain't long 'nough or lastin' 'nough." He

grins, flicking his ears at the thump of the weights. "An' sounds as if

ya got yer first loser, my son."

Dandelion grits his teeth. The fatigue is starting to set in, and his

arms are beginning to tremble. This is torture, but then he figures he

sort of earned it...

Flaxpaw keeps her arms up through sheer will, not just the arms shaking

with the effort. Sweat dripping into her eyes isn't helping, either.

she notes Quinten's drop distractedly, not much attention to spare. she

/will not/ let her arms drop.....

Thunk. Raph's ears twist back and he turns around to see which recruit

gave out. Grunt. "Well, it's more of an experiment." He starts towards

Quinten. The officer gets to his side, to get hold of the weights and

drag them off a little, before starting to check the downed recruit's

pulse and feeling his forehead. "Hmm." Another glance sent around to the

group as a whole. Many are trembling and panting, and a couple more

drop out. He shakes his head, with a scowl and stands.

Quinten sits up slowly, first to all fours and then pushing himself up

onto his hind legs, gaspsing for breath, he glances up at Zeraph arms

trembling, he opens his muzzle as if to say something then shuts it

again.

Marsuvees frowns down at Quin. "Hm, jus' couldn't do it, eh, my son?

Well, you learned somethin' of what pain is." He crouches slightly.

"Battle ain't forgivin' an' it ain't gonna care how much energy you 'ave.

It's gonna kill ya unless you kill it." The March hare smirks, standing

up. "Got it?" Without waiting for a reply, he glances at Zer.

"Experiment? Wot are we, chemists?" He grins.

Gregorian takes a couple of deep breaths and closes his eyes, paws

tightening on the ropes and he raises them a little just to be sure, his

arms sway a little and his head bows, letting his mind wander to mainly

forge work.

Dandelion grits his teeth. The trembling of his arms is starting to get

clearly noticeable now, but he's not going to give up just yet...

Quinten glares at Marsuvees and flicks his ears, ignoring the stupid,

mad hares words, he knows what pain is, he's had enough of it since he

joined the patrol.

Flaxpaw's arms waiver. no no no, don't let them drop, that's the point

of this, keep the arms up. she shuts her eyes and tries to regulate her

breathing. just don't think about it, that's the key in training like

this. The burning pain is in some other hare's muscles, not hers, yeah,

that's right, no pain, just straight arms. the rest of her slouches a

bit, no one said anything about anything but the arms, and she hasn't

the energy to worry about the rest of her.

"If I were a chemist, my experiments wouldn't be legal." Raph mumbles

in response to Marsuvees, not saying anything about the speech he just

gave to Quinten. Maybe he will later. Finally the officer straightens

again. "Alright! That's enough! Drop your weights and head for the

water!" Too many of the recruits have given in to fatigue for his liking.

He's not going to cripple a bunch of young hares if he can help it.

Dandelion grunts with relief and lets the weights drop, taking a few

staggering steps forward before he regains his balance and walks quickly

over to the water.

Quinten is slower then the others in moving towards the water, deciding

Four is easier then two right now he ambles into the waves, letting one

of them soak his head, just standing there letting the water wash over

him.

Flaxpaw drops the ropes, and follows them down so she ends on her

knees, panting a bit, and shaking. lucky, was about nto be one of those who

couldn't take the 'experiment', and she'd hate to look that weak in

front of an officer.

Marsuvees laughs lightly at the 'legal' comment. "Oh, aye. I suppose."

He clears his throat. "I'm actually impressed by one or two a them.

They're resilient, in a sense." He smirks. "I wouldn't tell none of them

that. They might get cocky." Tipping his hat up, he glances at the sun's

position. "Hm. A good while you kept them at it too."

Gregorian opens his eyes again slowly and looks up to Zeraph for a

moment before letting his arms fall, ropes still in them but weights on the

ground, he drops one before piking up the other one again and looking

at the weight slightly curiously before he drops that one too, his first

step towards the sea more of a stumble before he straightens himself up

and walks to the sea.

Quinten sits up in the sea, not caring about getting his uniform soaked

and sits there starring back up at the mountain, eyes a bit unfocussed

as he looks ahead, thinking about what they just had to do

Zeraph sighs, watching Gregorian pass by him, one of the last recruits

to head for the lapping waves. At least the sea is calm today, and it's

a nice temperature, so the recruits should be grateful for that. The

officer looks to Marsuvees, with a shake of his head, going to check on

some of the more fatigued hares, making rounds almost like a healer.

Dandelion wades out in the water a bit, still not -entirely-

comfortable with the idea of that much water in one place. He lets the waves lap

over his legs as he stands there, looking out.

Flaxpaw scrambles up, don't see the others sitting here like they're

too tired to move. she marches herself over to the water, and wades in a

bit. will stand here and be tired, plenty of time to sit around when

there are no officers present. she stands still, waiting to feel better,

and letting her mind wander.

Marsuvees grins, watching the other hare walk away. Then, when everyone

else's attention is turned away, he moves towards his bag. Picking it

up, he frowns at the small circle of damp red sand it leaves behind.

"Nrgh. Blast it." Kicking at the silt, he covers it up and moves a bit of

a ways down the shore. Wading into the water, he dips the bag into the

sea as he whistles softly to himself.

Dandelion glances over at Marsuvees, trying to remember where he saw

the hare before, tugging a little at an ear with a -very- sore arm.

Zeraph sidesteps so that he is halfway along the length of recruits

stretched out in the water looking like they could care less about

conversations right now. The Lieutenant bites at his bottom lip, then calls

out again. "So, stay there for as long as you need and then head inside

for your lunch!" He calls out. "Thank you." With that the buck begins to

just head back to the mountain himself without another word, arms

behind his back with the back of one paw in the palm of the other. Blah blah

blah. That's the end of that.

Gregorian gets up to about knee height in the water and flops over

backwards with a splash, staying under for a moment or two before he lets

his head float back up at least.

Quinten watches Zeraph leave and shakes his head tiredly, standing up

the short buck begins to walk up the shore towards the mountain, the Lt.

mentioned food, so he is off to get it, he nods to Marsuvees as he

passes "Should you be...getting your bag wet sir? Won't it ruin your

clothes?"

Marsuvees jerks the bag above the water and grins out at the sea. Eyes

are on him. "Hm?" He lifts a brow at Flaxpaw as he chucks the bag onto

the sand above the waterline. Smiling cordially, he waves warmly, then

begins to wash his face. Quinten. "Eh? Oh, my bag's fine and so 're me

clothes. No need ta worry, my son." He continues to scrub his face.

Flaxpaw watches Marsuvees, odd hare, but Zeraph seemed to have a good

opinion of him. She wanders closer, waiting until Quinten finishes

talking to him, may as well get to know him, and he seems friendly enough.

Quinten turns his head to look at Flaxpaw and shakes his head slightly

in warning "Ok sir, well see you later...oh and please less of the

preaching, i do not need it thank you." he nods and starts back up the

beach.

Dandelion bends down to dip his arms in the water, up to the elbow,

letting them cool off a bit.

Gregorian moves into deeper water and dives under, going swimming

rather than to dinner, he'll eat after his swim.

Flaxpaw raises a brow at Quinten's head shake. hmm. She waits, a little

distance from Marsuvees. Quint's made her hesitate to start a

conversation, but.....

Marsuvees flickers his ears, clearing them of water, before smirking up

after Quin. "Oh, we could all use a bit of preachin' now an' agin," he

says quite cheerfully, before turning back to shore, shaking water from

his fur as he goes. Sitting down in the sun, he begins to warm himself.

Pulling out a whittling knife and a small piece of bone, he whistles as

he carves into. Oh, Flaxpaw again. Since the sun is actually in his

eyes as he looks up, he has to squint. "Grace and Hope to you, dear girl."

A grin. "C'n I be of some assistance, then?" The Northern accent is

fairly faint today, for some reason.

Dandelion decides not to mess with the odd hare. Seeing that knife and

the bone makes him recall where he saw him before... He shudders and

begins moving toward the mountain, and food.

Quinten glances back andd when he sees Dande coming decides to wait for

his friend to catch up, waving a paw to him

Dandelion waves at Quinten as he moves past. "Hey." he says, still a

little too tired and gloomy for anything lengthy.

Flaxpaw smiles and goes to flop down next to him. really does seem

friendly enough.."Grace and Hope to you too, sah" said a little hesitantly,

seems to be the greeting with this hare. She tilts her head at the

bone. hmmm. "d'you help the lieutenant much with training? he's been in

th'infirmary the whole time i've been on the mountain almost...."

Quinten nods to Dande and falls in beside him, walking along beside the

other buck "Aye hey..that was...cruel of the Lt."

Gregorian resurfaces again and spits out a little water before he looks

around, he chuckles lightly the earlier experience all but a ache in

the arms and he leisurely swims along towards the mountain.

Dandelion trundles along. "I suppose he has his reasons..." he mumbles,

looking at the ground. "Come on, let's eat. Hope Geoff isn't there...

Though he probably is, just to complete the day."

Quinten looks sideways at Dande "Geoff? whose Geoff?" he looks puzzzled

at that

"Pwha," Mars waves a paw, the knife one, in an airy fashion. "'fraid

not, m' dear." He chuckles. "First time." The knife goes back down as he

carves small slivers. The carving has all ready been started,

apparently, for there is all ready a defined shape of an artfully done sun and a

beach. The faint outline of Salamandastron is done as well, but only

roughly. "I go by the moniker Marsuvees Rosso." He nods stoutly. "Always

believe it a right need ta introduce oneself before any sort of

discourse. Don't you agree?" He winks cheerfully at the doe. "It be only

proper, aye?"

Flaxpaw grins and nods. "yes, sah, only proper. name's Flaxpaw Rose

Windyhill Anenome." she wrinkles her nose. "but, I go by Flax." she

extends a paw.

Dandelion grunts. "Remember when I got in a fight and half my face was

swollen up? Or when I got tripped up in sword practice? Geoff."

Quinten nods "Ahhh yes now i remember him...well if he's there Dande

and he tries anything leave him to me, i'm in no mood for fools, i'll

knock him out"

Marsuvees grasps the paw, but gently. Instead of shaking it though, he

brings her knuckles to his lips. "Proper treatment of a lady is also a

right need." He nods, then returns to his carving. "Aye, that's a right

long name ya got there. Huh, yer last name sounds familiar. Dunno why."

He continues carving. "I noticed ye didn't drop th' weights," he says,

drawling it out slightly.

Flaxpaw blushes, smiling shyly. usually is just treated like one of the

boys. "mater an pater were patrollahs, migh be you heard of them, sah.

An, no, sah, Lt. said not to drop them. I would have, if he hadn't

called a stop, sah."

Quinten lingers outside the mountain, once Dande is gone, going to wait

for Flaxpaw to get fed up with the weird hare and join him.

Marsuvees waggles an ear slightly, chuckling. All that shows from

beneath his hat is his smile. "Fraid I ain't heard of them, but I have now,

eh?" The March hare sweeps of his hat, to scratch at his long headfur.

"You say ya only been here a short time? Makes two of us. I was in th'

battle wi' Zeraph though." He smirks. "Wot d'ya think of 'im, eh?

Honestly. I won't tell anyone if'n it be bad."

Gregorian finally gets himself to the shore and out of the water,

shaking in an attempt to dry off though he's still sopping wet when he heads

for the mountain.

Quinten waves to Greg as he comes towards him "Hey Greg, didn't know

standardised torture was part of the training programme."

Gregorian shrugs to Quinten as he gets closer to the other buck "Run

around a mountain 6 times and somebeasts would call it torture, others,

training, just got to take it as it comes"

Flaxpaw smiles. "well, sah, don't know him that well, but he seems

alright. not harsh, more like a big brother, than an officer at times. And

if that was any indication of how he trains....should be interesting.

"Big Brother, eh?" The March hare tips his hat back. "Eh, never had a

brother. Seemed...hasslesome, if that be a word." He chuckles, holding

out the the more refined bone carving. "Wot d'ya think? Could you some

color?"

Gregorian shrugs to Quinten as he gets closer to the other buck "Run

around a mountain 6 times and somebeasts would call it torture, others,

training, just got to take it as it comes"(RE)

Quinten nods his head "Ahhh true true, still shall we go get something

to eat now Greg? i'm famished"

Flaxpaw looks at the carving. "very well done, sah, an, um, color?

suppose color'd be nice. D'you know mister Ender? he likes to carve too,

though.." she considers the bone. "he usually carves wood." voice

inquisitive.

Marsuvees smiles. "Oh, aye. The old rabbit. I met him. Reasonable sort,

I though'." He blows some dust off the bone. "An' wot d'you like ta do

in yer spare time, eh? Somethin' lady-like, or somethin' a bit more

boyish?" He winks. "Or something you keep up as a pretence while yer

passion lies elsewhere?"

Gregorian kicks one of his footpaws out to the side to flick a bit of

the sand that's been gathering to the wet limb off "Nevah say no tah

food ol' chap"

Quinten smirks and shakes his head "You might want to dry off a bit

first old bean," he glances at his own wet uniform and flicsk his ears

shawoering water about "But then so could i"

Gregorian chuckles and starts on his way back to the mountain again

"Was about to say, a little water nevah hurt anyone....tha' is of course

so long as no officah catches yah uniform like tha'"

Quinten smirks and nods "Its ok, we had the Lt's permission to get wet,

lets go change and hit the mess"

Flaxpaw blinks at that, blinks, and....blushes. odd question, and

what's the wink about? She smiles a little, well, sah, I-um-I train. a lot.

an......" she checks to be sure the other recruits are out of range,

and reaches into her pocket. "I'd appreciate it if you kept this between

us, sah, other recruits wouldn't take me seriously anymore." she pulls

a small piece of fabric with tiny flowers embroidered on it from a

pocket in her tunic., needle and thread still hanging off it as it's not

done, then tucks it quickly back.

Gregorian signs quite happily with a light chuckle and shakes his head

"Probably a good idea, both the changin' and the eatin', especially the

eatin'"

Quinten laughs as he stands just outside the mountain with Greg,

looking back towards Flax "Guess FLax is staying to talk to the crazy hare,

lets go change, dry off and eat, i'm starving"

Marsuvees nods sagely, tipping the hat up. "That's beau'iful work, m'

dear. No need ta worry 'bout it at all." He smiles. "An' there's nothin'

wrong wi' a bit of needle-work." He sighs, glancing at the position of

the sun again. "Ach, a bit late fer my tastes. I have a few things ta

do." He stands, brushing off the sand. "Twas a blessed pleasure meetin'

ya, dear girl. I dearly hope ta see ye some other time, but business."

The march hare grins down at her, tipping his hat cordially. "G'day."

Flaxpaw smiles, and stands as well. "Thank you, sah. G'day." She dashes

to catch up with Greg and Quinten.

Gregorian pauses to glance back to Flaxpaw and Mars as well "Hmm, he's

certainly an odd one, don't undahstand a word he's sayin' sometimes"

watching Flax catching up and waiting until she's nearly to them before

he turns to head into the mountain.

Quinten nods and flicks his ears at Flaxpaw "Oh aye, i try to avoid

him, he's a right odd ball, and some of the things he says...well i just

dislike."

Flaxpaw flicks an ear back at quinten, grinning as she reaches them.

"an odd hare, but not so bad, really, Quint. seemed...nice." galantry

goes a long way to making a good impression. She slips an arm through

Greg's, and reaches out to slip the other arm through Quint's. "an by the

way, Greg, 'bout Freddie, he did real well the other day. I'll lay off,

ok?"

Gregorian smirks and soggy or not hooks his arm back around Flaxpaw's,

bowing his head to her briefly "Good tah hear, I'll have tah let him

know it's safe tah come out again"

Quinten looks at Flaxpaw and frowns "wot is this about Freddie?" he

lets Flax lead the way however back inside the mountain towards dry

clothes and more importantly food, the bottomless pit is starting to make

itself felt, it is definatly time for food.

clothes and more importantly food, the bottomless pit is starting to make

Flaxpaw looks up at Greg, and laughs lightly. "oh, nothin for you to

worry about, Quint. just, um, a little misunderstandin's all."

Gregorian chuckles and shakes his head over to Quinten "Aye, it's

sorted now, nothin' tha' worry about, now, lets go eat already"

You say, "Riiight well i hope its all sorted out Flax we can't afford

any more trouble now remember, or we'll be privates forever." he smirks

at Greg and nods "Aye lets get back inside."

Flaxpaw nods, and heads in, adding. "oh, no, no more trouble. wouldn't

want to cause majah any more trouble."

Gregorian smirks "Not even privates yet and yah thinkin' of bein'

officahs?" he glances at Flax out the corner of his eye "Yah and yah major"

following along with them inside.

Salamandastron: Dining Chamber

  • -*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* Salamandastron *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-

This is the dining chamber for the mountain of Salamandastron. It is a

veritable cavern, the necessity of feeding so many hares making the

room so big. Dominating the room is a huge banquet table made of solid oak.

Nobeast knows how such a venerable object came to be here, but its

presence is undeniable. Smaller tables skirt the outside of the room,

each sitting near a large torch burning brightly in its sconce. The

chair at the head of the table is different from the plain maple chairs that

occupy the rest of the room - it belongs to the Badger Lord. The

massive object is graced with a carving of the very mountain it is in, with the

sun setting over the sea.

  • -*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*

Quinten leads the way into the dinning chamber, after drying off and

changing up in the Recruit barracks. "I don't know, Flax you are fixated

with Major Jarril, its not good, he's way too old fer ye to be mooning

over, ye need a nice young buck."

Flaxpaw blushes brightly, and shakes her head. "don't know wot you

mean, either of you. I do not moon over him. An...he's not so old." she

smiles a little before she catches herself. "I don't see wot's so great

about a young buck anyway. Don't seem to know wot they're about."

oblivious to the fact that she's talking to some of said young bucks.

Gregorian chuckles "Oh leave her alone Quint, I seem to remember yah

and a certain officah sometime back"

Quinten blushes and nods "Aye ok yer right Greg i'll back off, now lets

eat and forgot all about it for now."

Flaxpaw frowns a little, but.....nope, majah's not the sort, is he? She

piles her plate high and looks for a table.

Gregorian likewise gets himself a plate and makes a small mountain of

food on it before looking around the room and heading for a partly empty

table.

Quinten picks himself a large salad to enjoy and flops into a chair

with atired sigh

Gregorian doesn't really pause in between sitting down and eating,

glancing to Quinten as he scoffs away "So wot yah been up tah ol' chap?"

Quinten looks up and smiles "Asides from getting into trouble

endlessly? Winding up on permanent report, anything i do wrong goes onto my

permanent record."

Gregorian's eyebrows stand up in surprise "Wot yah do tah end up on

permanent report?"

Quinten smirks "I drank, i was going to just have one drink but well

wound up drunk in Halyard, Major had had enough and told me so"

Somewhere on the muck, Niveus has connected.

Gregorian smirks and tuts at him a little "Tha's no good, gettin' drunk

and caught too.../and/ yah promised yah wouldn't didn't yah?"

Quinten sighs and slumps down "Yes....i told Gabby...not seen her

since.."

Gregorian grimaces slightly "Ahh, sorry about tha' Quint, hope all goes

well still, yah good tahgethah"

Quinten looks up and shakes his head "I do hope so Greg...i really do i

don't know what to do about it..to make it up to her"

Gregorian shrugs "Do somethin' nice for her, surprise her, lockdown's

lifted now, should make most of the time yah got"

Quinten nods and flicks his ears up and down "I'll do my best to come

up with something..."

Gregorian raises a paw "And wotevah yah do, don't say it's cause yah

did somethin' wrong or cause yah sayin' sorry, tha's just a guilty

evenin', just do it cause yah want tah"

Quinten smiles and tilts his head "Thanks Greg what ever would i do

without you, am going to miss you when i'm at Redwall."

Gregorian chuckles "I should hope not get in too much trouble, would be

even worse if somethin' went wrong ovah there"

Quinten shivers "I am never setting a foot wrong again Greg if i can

help it"

Gregorian smiles and nods, looking back to his food again "Hope yah

have fun ovah there, make friends and all"

Quinten smiles "So do i....though have you heard, seems we have some

new friends arriving to stay here, from the abbey, and not the recruits."

Gregorian chuckles "Did hear somethin' about tha' from here and there,

should be...interestin'"

Quinten nods "Aye you'll hve to let me know what they are like,

squirrel's apparently, met the mother in Halyard"

Gregorian smirks "Like I say I've heard about them, warmin' and all,

met me aunt in Halyard, she happened tah mention them, believe her words

were head for the hill while yah still can, either tha' or get used

tha' bein' climbed by dibbun squirrels"

Quinten laughs and shakes his head "Oh dear, his mother mentioned

something along those lines, bet he'll be fun at training lessons, i hear he

is quite wild."

Gregorian chuckles "I'd say he'll be the officah's problem, we just

follow ordahs aftah all"

Quinten smirks "I wonder how the officers will deal with him? can't

really punish dibbuns much, and from what i heard his mother won't stand

for anyone being cruel to him,"

Gregorian munches on a piece of lettuce in between speaking "They're

goin' tah have quite a time then wotevah they do"

Quinten chuckles "I will be very very glad to be in Redwall then"

Gregorian smirks and shakes his head "Yah'll be the lucky ones, almost

makes me want tah go"

Quinten laughs "Lucky, have you heard wot the Major has planned for

us?"

Gregorian raises a brow and look a little curious "I haven't no, wot's

goin' tah happen?"

Quinten shakes his head "I don't know the details but i hear rumours,

we're not just going to be training as Novices, we got to keep up our

Recruit training as well."

Gregorian laughs "Oh ho ho ho yah goin' tah have tah work even hardah

than us ovah there"

Quinten rolls his eyes "I know, tell me about it, Greg..but still it'll

be worth it"

Quinten nods "Ok Greg see you soon" he waves to greg and returns to

hhis salad happily

Gregorian waggles an ear at the other buck and heads out "See yah

Quint"
