Salamandastron: Infirmary

  • -*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* Salamandastron *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-

This is the infirmary for the long patrol. This room is one of the most

well lit rooms in the whole of Salamandastron, with several candles placed

strategically along the shelves and cupboards. Many wooden beds line the

walls of this room, each outfitted with impeccably clean white linen

sheets. This unfortunately limits the walking space in this room. Where

there are not beds there are shelves and cabinets that hold a variety of

different medical equipment, mostly needles and bandages. A single stone

sink is firmly lodged into one of the counters. The sink is not fancy, in

fact it is quite awkward. It is a necessity, nonetheless. An open closet

is in the corner of the room, storing a surplus of compact cots, in the

unusual case of mass injuries. The room usually has several nurse hares in

it, roaming around tending to various injuries.

  • -*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*

Zeraph has arrived.

The infirmary is basically empty, except for a female healer who is speaking to Zeraph, then goes to move across the room to find something. The Lieutenant is seated upon a bed, with his tunic and shirt off, just pants. He's leaned forward so that his arms are rested on his legs, ears tipped back a little. The scars tracing up his back are suddenly seen. Arrow wound under one of his shoulder blades, what look like knife marks, stabs that go all the way through his shoulder from the front, and then the fresh gash that has stitching holding it closed. This is the most noticeable for the moment.

Quinten patters into the room carrying a large bundle of freshly laundered bedding, he can barely see over the top of said towels, he interupts the healer to ask where she wants them and she points him at a cupboard, he moves off and starts to load them in. When he puts them down you can see he's dressed in a fresh white smock and not uniform, andd his fur is damp and he has soap suds foaming away on the tips of his ears.

Zeraph seems hardly to be paying attention, a tired expression clearly showing on his features. If he notices Quinten, he doesn't acknowledge him. The officer shifts a little, leaning forward more and giving a half glance back to the healer as she moves about behind him. He grunts. Besides the scars, the buck looks well built enough.

Quinten hms softly as he carries on folding the freshly laundered bedding and putting it away on its various shelves. He glances at the lieutenant and offers him a salute "Everything ok over there sir?"

Zeraph glances over at Quinten finally, ears half perking. "I guess someone does show up in here at this hour from..time to time.." He sits up straighter, with the slightest with winced grunts, with a smirk. "Don't worry about saluting to me right now. I'm not quite in uniform, am I?"

Quinten nods "Oh....am i not supposed to salute if your not in uniform sir?" he glances at the scars and puts a pillowcase on the wrong shelf which gets him a curt reminder to pay attention,

Zeraph leans his head back, gazing at the ceiling. "Sometimes I'm not so sure. But don't tell anyone that." He grins slightly, eyes returning to Quinten as he sinks back down to lean arms on his legs again, with a huff. This causes the lighter grey fur along the scars to shift.

Quinten shakes his head and has pt all the laundry away now "Those scars look nasty sir...." he reaches up to flicks suds from his ears, his paws you might nod are rather damp and pruny looking

Zeraph sighs, giving a glance over his shoulder as the healer returns, beginning to concentrate on the healing over sword wound. His attention turns back to the wet recruit. "They weren't the best of experiences." Is the hare's casual response. He decides not to ask any obvious questions.

Quinten nods and tries to get soap out of his paws "Well i dread my first scar...but i guess its inevitable with the life i've chosen to go with"

Zeraph nods his head, eyes closing as she begins to snip the stitching and pull it free of the gash. "..yeah. Let's just hope you don't have to suffer so many though."

Quinten nods and shakes his paw and grins "Still if it means no more chores i'll be happy i've spent every moment since lunch doing laundry"

"Laundry is not the best of chores." Raph states in that obvious tone, ears layering down the back of his neck. The tall hare stays still for the doe as she works. "But it's a reason to work harder towards what you want."

Quinten nods and smiles "That it is...i put in for extra time practicing the sabre too and was told as soon as they can find someone to teach me i can have the extra time as well as normal lessons"

Zeraph smiles reassuringly at Quint, nodding his head. "Sounds good, I hope that it works out for you then." He looks back again as the healer gets all the sutures out then begins to make sure the wound is clean. With a murmur to him and a smile, she goes on her way. The officer stands up from the bed, half stretching.

Quinten flicks his ears from side to side, the officers obviously too distracted to pick up on the veiled hint...maybe he'll try again later "Well i should probably go back and get changed"

Indeed, everything is getting past Raph today, but the Lieutenant is more tired than even he makes out. He goes to begin pulling on his shirt, once again. "If you want to. Where are you headed after?"

Quinten shrugs "Not sure sir, i got to the rest of the afternoon free as me boxing lesson was cancelled"

Zeraph straightens his clothing on him, ears flicking curiously. "It was? Hmm." Nothing more is stated and he stretches again, with a slight pop of his back. Still kind of sore at times.

Quinten nods "Aye sir yes, Sorrel got sent up with a message to Halyard"

Zeraph smirks at Sorrel's name, then he nods. "Aye. Well, they could have sent a runner. Should have that is." He shrugs and goes towards the door, just picking up his tunic.

Quinten nods and follows you towards the door "She said something about not passing up the chance to sample the tavern's wares or something"

Zeraph flicks his ears back to listen to the recruit as he is followed, bobbing his head in understanding. "So I suppose we both have nothing to do, for now." He glances up and down the outside hallway.

Quinten nods and slides acround you out into the hall "Guess so sir, you should go rest i'm sure someone will find something to keep me occupied" he draws himself up and in a fair imitation of the Major "can't have lazy recruits with spare time about the place, makes te place look untidy"

Zeraph raises a brow at the recruit. "Best not let the Major see you doing that, ya young rip, or you may regret it." He rests his paws behind his back as he gazes off down the hall easily over the recruits head.

Quinten chuckles and shakes his head "Let me guess he'll be standing behind me now with that frown of his and a 50 laps around the mountain detail fer me"

Zeraph smirks. "No. But if he were, I'd be happy to deal out a punishment for him." The Lieutenant goes to move off again, in the direction of the training room. Perhaps expecting to find Darklett there.

Quinten wrinkles his nose "Remind me not to upset you then sir,....i dread to think what a punishment off you would be like"

Zeraph doesn't even glance back to Quinten. "Let's just say, it can get rather cold and lonely in that water out there.."

Quinten blinks "Water....you'd send me into the sea...."

Zeraph layers his ears back. "Don't try to think too much on it." It is unclear if he is joking or not.

Quinten nods "Aye aye sir i'll try not to dwell on oit"

Salamandastron: Caverns - Boxing Chamber

  • -*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* Salamandastron *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-

This room obviously has a rather singular purpose, and that purpose is not hard to discern, if one was only to look around. There is only about ten or fifteen feets worth of space in which to walk, around the perimeter, and the reason for this is that the rest of the space in the room is taken up by a slightly elevated fighting ring. The platform is about two feet above the floor, and upon each corner of the square platform there is a wooden post. Encircling the ring in are lengths of rope extending from each post. The floor of the platform is somewhat giving, as it is in someway padded. So far as the perimeter of the room, chin-up bars attached to the walls are staggered with benches, from which creatures can watch the fights.

With:

[DYN] Lieutenant (Zeraph)

Zeraph arrives with: Quinten

Zeraph removes Quinten from his group.

Quinten has made his way down to the boxing chamber, his lesson may be cancelled but he figures he can get in some practice on his own

With nothing else to do, Zeraph finds himself just following the recruit around, perhaps to see what he would do with his free time. The Lieutenant glances around the chamber as he slowly enters, ears ducking back for a moment in thought. Perhaps expecting someone to have been down here.

Quinten doesn't appear to have noticed the lieutenant following him, and hasn't bothered to change clothes either figuring he's going to get sweaty no point ruining a fresh uniform, he strips off the top and dressed in just his hose he extracts a head band from a pocket and puts it on, holding his ears back, he then pulls on a pair of thin leather boxing gloves taken from his other pocket, then setting himself he closes his eyes bobbing and weaving getting into rhythm for when his paws flash out in a flurry of jabs, then he spins lightly left leg kicking high to hit the bag and meet it as it swings back with a firm right hook.

Zeraph's ears raise into a look of interest at the recruit as he begins to practice boxing with the punching bag. A crooked smile forms and he goes to sit down on one of the benches, close to where there is a box of paw wrappings. These he begins to mess with calmly.

Quinten hops to one side left paw coming up in a flurry of jabs ended with a kick from the right leg and another right hook to jam the bag up into the ceiling, the style is odd, you can proabably see Sorrel's in there but also Tam's and bits and pieces from others, the kid has a good head for mixing and matching boxing forms

Zeraph can tell that the style is not all Sorrel, as the boxing doe does not use her footpaws so much. The Lieutenant seems amused by this display, dusting powder on his paws as it was close to the wrappings. However, he says nothing for now, and remains seated.

Quinten still hasn't seen raph eyes still closed and weaving through the routing automatically, only looking at the punching bag everynow and then as he bobs, weaves, flows from paw to paw, front paws and hind legs equally used as he attacks the bag

Zeraph finally clears his throat. "Well, you seem to do well enough with that." He calls out calmly enough, ears tipping back a little.

Quinten ears flick at the voice and he allmost breaks rhythm head whipping around to look at the lieutenant but his left paw swings out automactically to catch the bag a solid thump sending it into the wall where he holdds it in place "Sir....you were watcing...."

"Always easier to watch and evaluate when the subject doesn't know you are present, I must admit." Zeraph gives an all-knowing smirk as he lowers the paw bindings that he is messing with back into the box, powder upon his palms.

Quinten nods his head "Yes sir well i hope i managed to show you i can box at least" he smiles nad bobs away from the punching bag letting it swing down and lifts his leg swinging it around to hit it with a solid thump, shifting to the other to catch it on the rebound "I can do this at least"

Zeraph grins. "Good job. If a bag ever attacks you, I know you can handle yourself." Joking manner emerging again. He heads towards the ring lazily.

Quinten smiles and stills the bag with a paw and salutes "Yes sir....and i'm not too bad against spoarring partners either but its all just practice i guss"

Another chuckle is given. "Boxing is good practice, always a good idea to learn the basics. Learn how to hit quicker, and speed up your reaction time. But in a real fight, your opponent won't be so 'fair' as to box you normally." Zeraph leans on the ropes, eyeing Quinten thoughtfully.

Quinten nods "oh well i admit i don't really know much about not boxing fair....i just got the basics down as you can see, and it keeps you fit too"

Zeraph seems to be deep in thought still as he observes the recruit, rubbing his paws together. "Anyone ever fight with you without using correct boxing skills?"

Quinten thinks and nods "Yes once...Broggart me and him box from time to time when he can and he is good....i never win"

Zeraph shifts so that he is crouched down beside the boxing ring, just resting right there instead of on the bench now. He smirks as he gazes at the floor. "Never dealt with this Broggart before."

Quinten nods "Ahhh well they are about the place, good hare for boxing with my mainlyt my training has all been proper boxing form

"I don't know if I'm quite up to it right now.." Zeraph replies to this, popping his knuckles softly as he stays crouched there for the moment. "I've had to fight without weapons before."

Quinten nods and walks over towards the lt "of course your wounded still sir aye'd never expect you to teach me anyway your not one of me instructors"

Zeraph slowly stands up. "I've had worse, Quint." Stated in that disinterested way he has sometimes.

Quinten nods "I saw the scars Sir" he shakes his head "And how did i end up as Quint....." he smiles sadly "Was always Quinten when i got hhere and now i seem to be quint to everyone...not that i mind is nice to be called that again"

"Nicknames become useful. Do you believe everyone calls me Zeraph all the time?" He smiles reassuringly again, though it is a flicker of one, then is gone again. Gone back to being quiet again.

Quinten chucles "No sir, i guess not its a bit of a mouthfull"

Zeraph nods his head, moving to sit upon the bench he had occupied before. "Blame my parents for that one." He rests back, going quiet as he folds his paws. Maybe wishing he had someone to fight with. This makes a softer expression appear. Almost sadness.

Quinten chuckles and moves over to sit neck to you, distinct smell of sweat lingering about him, as well as soap from earlier in the laundry room "You should try having my name sir," he sits up and says with eyes closed and smile on his muzzle, "The honourable third triplet Quinten Taran Marben Teno Aluioscious Tof'marole Delmenare"

Zeraph smiles, with a flickering of ears, then goes to stand. "I don't remember all of my name, so it is lucky." He rolls his shoulders. "So if there's to be no boxing going on, I'll be moving rooms. Want to stay?"

Quinten looks around and shrugs "No reason to stay really, got nothinh else to do relaly"

Salamandastron: Training Room

  • -*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* Salamandastron *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-

This is the training room for the hares of the long patrol. The walls

seem to have taken a severe beating, more than likely not from stray

arrows missing the archery targets. There are several of said archery

targets lining the west wall, each with small oak stands a good distance

off to hold arrows, hang a bracer, and rest a bow on. The targets are of

simple design: a large, tightly wrapped bale of hay with a coarse paper

target on the front. A wooden mannequin, in no better shape than the

walls, is in the northeastern corner of the room. Besides that, several

wooden practice swords sit in a small pile. On the eastern side of the

room is a small, makeshift wrestling arena consisting of two mattresses

tied together. Then on the southern side of the room is a fitness area,

assembled from several pull-up bars, and a nice padded area to do push up.

Narrow, cylindrical weights (both wooden and metal) are pushed up against

the wall, along with a few straight metal bars for them to be mounted on.

With:

[DYN] Taye

[DYN] Lieutenant (Zeraph)

[DYN] Niveus

[DYN] Not just any old hare... (Darklett)'s a Long Patrol Major!

This mountain is a workout in itself. From the infirmary, down to the boxing cavern, and then back up to the training room. However, Zeraph seems to not mind it, already used to the long walks. He steps sideways into the room, half holding the door open for Quinten.

Quinten walks past rapg into the training room, not dressed in uniform but in a pair of white hose and a loose top, belted around the waist with a wide strip of white cotton, he looks rather refreshed and his fur is somewhat damp from taking a recent stint in the laundry room, he's collected something on the way back up, it appears to be a new punching bag for the training room from the stores, due to the suspicoious lack of a bag in the room and an emty hook where it was.

Already present in the training room is Darklett, who is busy with a mannequin, two training daggers in his paws... Jumping almost hyperactively in place, he bobs down and dashes underneath where the mannequin's arm would be, placing two solid strikes -- would-be killers -- in the fake opponent's chest and abdomen, before slowing down and walking back in front of the target, twirling the wooden faux weapons around in his paws.

Ever the working and completely prim soldier, Niveus.. is happily perched in a seated position atop one of the chamber's benches. His arms are looped about either of his longsword's cross guard prongs as the scabbard's apex is set against the floor, head nudged into the hilt as he leans into it in an unusual prayer-like position, snoozing quietly.

An evil smirk appears on Zeraph's muzzle when he sees the Major jumping around in his battle with the mannequin. He looks back to Quinten, to just make sure that the recruit, and the bag, are both inside the training room, before he lets the door swing shut behind them. At first the Lieutenant is quiet, a glance going to Niveus, just stepping closer towards Darklett. However, he stays out of the 'injury zone' for now.

Quinten moves across the room to the gym area, hefting the bag up with a grunt and hanging it from the hook driven into the ceiling "There we go" he murmurs to himself, giving it a soft push to check it swings properly"

Darklett continues to work on his agility, bobbing quickly between both footpaws, and doing that same dash maneuver, the daggers hitting the same two spots as he ends up behind the mannequin again, taking a few steps backwards to stand in front of it, rocking back and forth with the same speed as before, hunching over defensively to prepare for yet another strike.

Niveus's slumber goes without disturbance by the entering hares, having dozed happily into la-la land in the midst of the already bustling chamber. Unfortunately for the young soldier, the weight of him leaning forward in his unconscious state unbalance the scabbard and it topples over with a clack. He bounds up startled, ears standing on end as he whirls about in bewilderment. "Ooh, ho.. roight, er, yeah!"

Zeraph gives a sideways flicker of ears and his gaze turns to Niveus once more, to look him over. Perhaps just to make sure he is alright. The officer is not wearing his uniform's tunic for the time being, a white shirt having replaced it. He smirks, then turns back to Darklett, with a grin. "Oh! Glad to see that the mannequins have still not got the better of ya, Dark."

Quinten takes a step back, setting hiimself, paws fitting snug in a pair of thin gloves, he curls them into fists, closes his eyes in thought then opens them and begins to lay into the bag swiftly, jabbing at it with his left, then his right, he turns slightly left and kicks out with his right hind leg catching the bag, sending it swinging out, he then curls around and catches it as it swings back in to catch it as it swings back"

Halting in the doorway in order to look around at the unusually busy boxing chamber, Taye looks on the verge of heading off for less crowded training quarters when he spots Niveus and then Darklett. He heads inside.

Darklett twitches his ears and turns around at the clacking of the scabbard, eyeing Niveus carefully. "Drift off -again,- Niv? Get up and movin', that'll keep you awake. You've been sleepin' since dinner!" He twirls the 'knives' again, and smirks at Zeraph. "Well, they're not very good at blocking much. No arms, and all, seems a bit unfair to fight 'em, but fates know they can take a punch, if you know what I mean..." he comments, giving the mannequin an elbow to the 'ribs' and throwing the lieutenant a chuckle. "Evenin'."

Niveus rubs furiously at his eyes, shaking himself awake after the unfortunate doze. Back stepping as the major addresses him, he nearly trips over his own weapon before quickly dipping to retrieve it. "Er, pardon me, sah! Right sorry, sah.. an', have I? Well, that's a jolly good change, wot! Haven't slept roight in a week now." The buck replies, scratching at his muzzle as if in thought. "Top hol- oh, 'ello there, Taye."

Zeraph gives a chuckle in return to Dark, nodding his head. "Evening. I must say, I've missed this room." He interlaces his fingers for a moment as he stretches backward again, before relaxing back into a regular position. "The mannequins may be easy, but don't they get..boring after a while?" Another evil smirk as he steps forward now that the Major isn't moving about so much.

Quinten brings both paws up before his muzzle and jabs out at the punching bag, laying into it with a flurry of jabs setting it rocking to meet his kick with his left leg soon followed up by a single left to halt it in his progress, he nods happy that the bag is set in properly"

Darklett's smirk grows into a grin as the fighter continues to talk, the major finally raising his training daggers up. "Well, why don't you just blurt it out? Grab a sword, and let's go!" He jogs past the fighter, towards the center of the training room, twirling the fake knives expertly as he waits for his sparring partner. "Good timing, right when the mannequins were starting to bore me! Thought I'd have to bother sleepyhead over there!"

Taye waves to Niveus at the greeting, crossing over to him. "'Ey, Niv. How's it goin'?" He glances between Darklett and Zeraph, then, raising an eyebrow. Ooh?

Niveus fits the scabbard into the frog at his left hip, giving it several firm pushes downward to set the wider top of the sheath into the loop. "Rather! Sleepy head, harmph!" The buck replies, busying himself with turning a polite curtsy of a bow toward the familiar runner. "It goes, ol' chap. About as best as it can, all things considered. An' you, eh wot?"

Zeraph is unaware of all else now, going over to pull a sword from the container and winking at Darklett. "Well, the last time was entertaining enough, why not?" He begins towards the other officer. "Almost thought you weren't going to get the hint for a moment there." The buck teases.

Quinten shakes his head as he watches the two officers and moves away from the punching bag, loosening the belt of his top a bit and starting to organise the various racks of training weaponry, waving a cheery hello to Taye and Niveus before picking up a bunch of trainign swords and beginning to slot them back into their porper places

"'Bout the same, mate. Can't complain, but m'not exactly singin', eithah. Y'know?" He grins at Quinten, then, waving. "'Ey, Quin!"

Darklett crouches down, readying his daggers both in front of him defensively... His ears pin back and he starts to sidestep. "Enough small talk, let's see if you've got the sword to match the badges, Lieutenant!" he calls out with a playful grin, edging close to the newly promoted hare, but nowhere near striking range.

Niveus offers up a properly-overdone flourish of a wave to the training recruit, pausing briefly to nosily look over his activity. "Ah well, all'll be better in jolly good time, that's for blinkin' sure." The soldier replies, looking back to the runner.

Zeraph lowers a little into a readied stance. Bah to wounds! He nods, sword held out to the side just going to begin shifting towards the Major with a flicker of ears. "I'd offer no mercy, but I'd hate for anyone to get hit when you'd go flying." This is more murmured than the other statements.

Quinten hides a smile behind a paw as he watches Niveus wave at him and nods to Taye "Private Taye howdy there" he nods at the punching bag, "I finally replaced that thing, the other one split" heglances back at raph and shakes his head "The healers will probably kill him" he chortles "They only just finished looking at him awhile back"

Darklett shakes his head to the side once, the grin still evident on his features as a single eyebrow raises. "That's a shame, I was actually looking for a challenge tonight..." Inch... Closer. His daggers stay in the same position, his footpaws slowly shifting forward bit by bit as the major rocks back and forth, still on the defensive.

"Righ'," Taye replies to Quinten. He looks towards the lieutenant in question, eyebrows raising. "Yet anothah reason I decided not t'be a healah. Constant headaches dealin' with the wounded." He grins.

Zeraph just circles a little closer. He'll be careful, I promise! The Lieutenant shifts forward to almost match Darklett's movements, taking it slow right now. "Oh? Alright." But how could he pass up this opportunity? Suddenly the officer bolts forward, darting to the side in the same movement, to swing the 'weapon' towards Dark's shoulder.

Niveus folds his arms over his chest, swiveling in place to cast his attention toward the tussling hares. "Hrm, 'm no good at healin', but rather good at gettin' hurt to give healers practice. Not sure if that counts an' wot not, but eh!"

Quinten chuckles and nods to taye "Oh aye, constant headache i'm sure, wounded beasts never stay in bed" he leans agianst the rack a practice sword held in one paw, watching the training officers, before he turns back to the task at hand of tidying things up, clattering about

Audri pokes her head into the training room, eyes quickly scanning over the hares present. Her stub of an ear twitches as she slips inside, keeping close to the wall while her eyes watch the mock fight going on. Folding her arms behind her, Audri takes up a spot along the wall, watching the going ons quietly for now.

Darklett's eyes widen at the sudden leap for him, the daggers coming up to both block the strike to his shoulder as he reaches out with a footpaw and slides, dragging his other footpaw behind him, training knives still in contact with the post-strike wooden sword when he stops, the major retracting the knives once the momentum is lost and hopping backwards, knives going up again, slightly more offensively. "Nice one! Care to try again?"

Taye grins. "Drives m'da absolutely nutters, it does." He glances around and realizes that he's near the wall and bench, and so he sits, slouching somewhat as his arms tuck in pockets. He peers over at the two fighting hares. "And... no. Really jus' doesn't count, Niv." Just because, apparently. He grins. Ahh.

Niveus snaps his fingers together, shoulders shrugging. "Pfaw! Someone has'ta do it, wot! Without anybeast t'train on, how the jolly well are they supposed to build up a blinkin' proficiency?" The buck chuckles quietly, arching a brow toward the combat.

Zeraph had paused after the sword was caught between the knives, ears flickering down at Darklett's statement, before he shifts backward as well. "Are we getting on with this?" He smirks at this statement, eyeing the Major as he readies for a possible attack.

Quinten turns back around at the sound of clacking weaponry to watch the fight, smiling as he listens with half an eye to Taye and Niveus but is a short distance around the room from them

Audri glances over to the hares watching, spotting Taye with a grin. Her whiskers twitch, brows creasing thoughtfully as she walks over towards him and the others. "Evenin' Taye."

Darklett grins, doing a little dance back and forth. "What, can't have a little fun with the quarry before hand?" He winks, the playful jabbing putting Darklett in one of the better moods he's been seen in in recent days. "I'm gonna attack you now, get ready to block..." he grins, speaking as if he were training a new recruit, right before he dashes in, ducking low and to the lieutenant's left, keeping a dagger up for defense as his other slashes rapidly towards the other hare's midsection, the motion already putting him into reverse even before he's done with his attack.

"They practice on... dummies 'n' stuff." He reaches over, nudging Niv's shoulder with a fist. This /is/ distinct from a punch. "'Ell, let 'em have less practice if it means not gettin' yerself stabbed up, eh? Ya loon." His ears swivel around at this next greeting, his head turning at a close second. He grins when he spots Audri. "'Ey, there!"

Zeraph rolls his eyes in a playful manner at the warning, before leaping back and to the side. He swings the weapon to knock his dagger off course, ignoring the one that is up as defense. And it seems their positions are switched, turned to face the other once more. At first, he goes to jump forward again, but he falters and dips off to the left around him, unsure if he wants to full-out attack him as before.

Quinten puts the last item back into place and resumes bobbing from paw to paw idly jabbing and shadow boxing withhimself as he watches the officers go out off it, not really included in the conversation with the others, feeling a bit out of his depth with so many officers and patrol hares about.

As what could now be considered a veteran fighter of the Long Patrol, Major Darklett will be the first to catch hesitation in an opponent. Following up on Zeraph's falter, he counter-charges to Zeraph's left, trying to catch him off balance with that same swift run-by double slash that he was just practicing on the mannequin before.

"Are you sure?" Niveus asks, squinting towards the runner in a rather interested manner. The soldier shakes his head from side to side, ears flopping in turn. "I dunno iffen I believe that.. trainin' on dummies, pfah! Wot good is that?" The buck suddenly lost much care in the question, remembering something peculiar that pertains to the nearby boxing recruit.

Audri flicks her tail in greeting, offering a grin to the runner. "Thought I'd come over 'n say hello. So how've you been Taye?" She asks, turning her gaze back to the fighting duo.

This sudden attack actually catches Zeraph off guard, and even though he moves to dodge the weapons as they are struck at him, one clips his side. However, this just gets him a little more 'interested' in the fight, and he turns with his opponent, reaching for one of

Darklett's paws, while the other holds the sword defensively. A footpaw is pressed backward for a brace as he goes to just throw his shoulder into the Major's chest/rib area, perhaps planning to lift him clear of the ground and throw him backward.

Quinten moves from side to side, ears flopping about his shoulders as the short buck rocks from side to side, foot paws shifting on the matting as he jabs against his shadow, eyes watching the Major and Lieutenant with interest

Taye smirks at Niv. "'Course m'sure. M' da's a healah, inne?" He looks to Audri, then, gesturing flourishingly to the empty space on the bench beside him. "Decent enough, Audri. Why doncha sit? Front-row seats fer the match 'n' everythin'." He grins.

Darklett is actually quite surprised at the effectiveness to which Zeraph managed to writhe out of the way, and goes to turn to follow up, only to have his wrist grabbed and pulled, yanking the dashing hare at a faster speed towards the lieutenant-- the major's lack of any real size coming to his disadvantage here-- and he can only wait until the last second to twist away from the shoulder, thus dodging what might have been a painful jar to his side, yet tripping awkwardly over the other buck's footpaws and landing face first on the ground, spending very little time like that before he tries to roll over, away from any immediate danger from above, curling his legs in and daggers moving up to block a predicted overhead followup.

Audri returns the grin, plopping down beside Taye, eyes still on the two hares. "Thanks. So, who's winnin' then?" She asks, turning her gaze back to Taye.

Niveus' ears crane toward the runner's reply, a blank look turning over his shoulder as he addresses the mention. "Er, eh, wot? Oh, yeah, eh heh." The soldier says, a bit of an uneasy chuckle following while a paw is brought up to scratch at the side of his neck in a fidgeting manner. "I say, pardon a chap. .. need to eh, get movin' along." He gives a brief smile to the pair of beasts in close accompany, sparing only a second glance to the recruit with a bit of a nostalgic cringe before shuffling toward the door.

Zeraph is brought down with Darklett, though he doesn't 'face plant' as the Major did, a grin showing. Happy happy. The officer lands in a kneel upon one leg, his sword being pressed down towards the other along with him, though he decides to keep his one paw free, just in case he needs to block against any sudden dagger attacks. He tries to stay away from the curled legs.

Quinten frowns in Niveus' direction and shakes his head in puzzlement as he leaves wondering what that was all about... he shrugs and resumes shadow boxing against himself, paws kicking out as he ducks and sways, turning his attention back to te officers.

Taye's eyebrows raise at Niv's quick exit, but he quickly looks back to Audri. "... Well, think it's too early t'say one or anothah, y'know?" He looks with squinted eyes, then, having taken only a casual interest in the fight up until then.

Darklett scoots backwards as quickly as he can manage, getting well out of range of the lieutenant before getting to his footpaws, and... Circling again, letting Zeraph get to his footpaws. "Well... That was fun. Let's try that again, eh?"

Zeraph stands up as he follows Dark's movements with his eyes and ears, brows furrowing a little. The buck shifts so that he can go along with Darklett, staying parallel to his position. "Again. Sure."

Audri nods. "Yea, seems that way." She mumbles, sending a curious glance towards Quinten and his shadow boxing. Audri grows quiet once more, leaning back on the bench while her eyes return to the match, tailtip flicking.

Quinten shifts from paw to paw watching the officers, his shadow boxing trailing off as he finishes the routine and watches, he glances at audri and waves hello as he doesn't think he's met her before"

Darklett steps within Zeraph's sword range, his daggers still held on the defensive, eyeing the buck carefully as he steps into dangerous ground... After what seems like a calculated, yet small amount of time, he lowers his higher dagger about midway, while sidestepping and swinging his lower to strike Zeraph's lower ribs... Doing so almost stretches his entire arm out, so even if it does hit, it would have been a shallow one.

For some reason, the fighter doesn't bother dodging this one as he had the others. Zeraph actually steps forward, at an angle to the other buck so that this striking weapon grazes off of his side uselessly, but he is right up close to Dark again, one footpaw sliding out so that it is on the matting a bit in between the Major's. His sword is pushed at his sparring partner's side trying to go around the other dagger.

Taye tucks his paws in his pockets, reclining back a bit more. Ahh, relaxation. He looks to the side at Audri, raising an eyebrow. "So, what've you been doin' lately?"

Audri nods in Quinten's direction, brows creasing thoughtfully. "Workin' on the boat mostly." Audri replies, tailtip giving another flick as she leans forwards, resting her elbows on her knees. "What've ya been up to?"

Taye's shoulders roll in an idle shrug. "Lots o' patrol stuff. I transfahed to a new patrol - Darklett's. Majah Jarril wasn't too happy about it."

The major has to think quickly; the fighter is stronger than he is, and a lot quicker than most of the vermin he faces... So when he finds his opportunity of too-close range, he exploits it with the agility he'd just been training for, the major hare stepping even closer to Zeraph than Zeraph had advanced on him, his plan the classic strategy swordsbeasts used on polebeasts-- get too close for their weapons to have any use. And both fake daggers aim for either of the hare's sides, neither bothering with defense as there's nothing in front of him to block, should he be allowed in that close.

Quinten snickers at Taye's words and rolls his eyes "Murderously upset was more like it Taye" he smiles and flips himself side ways to send a flurry of kicks at the punching bag suddenly using his bouncing momentum to carry him to it. He looks up and ooohs as he watces the Major move at the lieutenant.

Audri's lone ear perks, looking over to Taye. "Dark's got a patrol? That's interestin'. Well, I'm sure Major Jarril understands though. Ya should be where ya feel the most useful really."

Because of Darklett's advance towards him, his striking 'blade' doesn't hit the other. This means Zeraph finds his weapon useless. He grabs for one of the paws holding a dagger, while he throws himself sideways. However, Dark's paw that he doesn't reach for actually hits his side better than any of the other strikes that had struck true.. It doesn't matter. Raph is already going to drag the Major down with him, rolling onto his back, and going to kick his opponent unmercifully over his head, to try and send him flying again.

Taye's ears dip slightly at Quinten's words, and he blinks. "... D'ya really think?" Mrr. He looks down at his paws, then. Meh. "But aye, yeah, that's why I did it. Ya go where ya think yer most needed, y'know? Ah well."

Quinten nods to Taye "He did seem really put out...deserted by his star pupil he said...but maybe i should shut up bewfore i put my foot in it" he goes quiet and turns back to watch

You page, "these are the poses - Quinten frowns in Niveus' direction and shakes his head in puzzlement as he leaves wondering what that was all about... he shrugs and resumes shadow boxing against himself, paws kicking out as he ducks and sways, turning his attention back to te officers. Taye's eyebrows raise at Niv's quick exit, but he quickly looks back to

Audri. "... Well, think it's too early t'say one or anothah, y'know?" He looks with squinted eyes, then, having taken only a casual interest in the fight up until then." to Niveus.

"Ya shouldn't worry over it too much Taye. I'm sure he /wasn't/ that mad." Audri replies, glancing at Quinten again before giving Taye a little nudge. "And when ya free next time, I want ta take the boat out to test it."

Darklett has a little inner moment of victory as the training blade jabs directly into the lieutenant's side, but as his forward momentum continues a little farther than he expected, and the buck in front of him starts to sink... and he feels the kick dig into his stomach, and send him flying overhead, that little moment of victory doesn't last long. Flipping tail over ears, he lands with a loud -thud- on his back, a groan of pain coming from the downed and stunned major at that very instant.

Zeraph closes his eyes as the Major is clear over his head, then he goes to roll up into a seated position, ears perking high. The Lieutenant goes to bolt up, perhaps to see if Darklett's alright..or maybe to actually strike at him again. But either way, none of these happen, because he stumbles and lands on his one knee again, with a grunt. His grip tightens on the weapon in his paw, before loosening all together and he just stretches out on his stomach to rest.

Taye's ears dip a fraction more, but he nods to Audri nonetheless. "A'right. I've got a lot goin' on this next week, but... aftah, a'right?" He holds back a sigh, looking at Quinten again. "Yer fine, Quin'. I think /I'm/ the one who put m'foot in m'mouth. Guess I fouled things up pretty bad with the Majah..."

Quinten shakes his head as he watches the Major fly through the air "Oooooo i'll have to remember that trick" he murmurs softly to himself eyes riveted on the two fighters, he pads over to kneel down next tp Raph to see if he's ok looking at Taye and shaking his head

"It'll be fine, the Major is a decent chap he understands i'm sure"

Audri nods, tail dipping down as Taye appears not to be cheered up by the news of the boat. She grows quiet, eyes returning to the fight just intime to see Darklett flip onto his back, wincing.

Darklett just writhes for a second... The reason for his pain is evident, in their sparring they seem to have reached the end of the mats, and as a result, the only part of him that actually hits the mat is his head. The rest slammed quite firmly into solid rock, the hare just... lying there for a moment, his arms up with their daggers, feebly trying to block whatever might come next... Luckily for him, that's nothing.

Taye's eyebrows raise as the fight appears to have ended. He pushes off the bench, standing. "Think I should check on Darklett?" This is presumably directed toward Audri.

Zeraph grunts, looking up to Quinten as he kneels beside him, then shakes his head. "I'm fine. I'm good." He rolls his shoulders, then gets up again, partially using the sword in his paw as a way to get up, before handing it towards the recruit. He makes his way towards Darklett, crouching down by him. "Hey, man, you alright there?" Worry first, victory dance later.

"Yea. It landed rather rough there." Audri replies, already rising from her seat and walking over to the buck with a worried look.

Quinten nods and takes the sword without thinking, checking it for nicks and notting a couple of splinters, he fishes in his pockets and takes out some sandpaper...why'd he have it on his person probably only Sorrel knows, moving to a seat he sits down and starts to sand it paws moving over it without looking."

Taye follows after Audri as the squirrel passes him, though he stops short of where Zeraph is crouched. "Majah? You all righ'?"

"...Awh." The sound that comes from Darklett is quite raspy, resembling the gasp of somebeast who had the wind knocked out of him. He rolls a little to the side, but just goes back to his back, resting his head against the mat. Of course, in his mind, he considers it a victory... after all, Zeraph probably wouldn't have been able to pull that off given the theoretical gaping hole in his side. ;) "I'm... alright, yeah." It's a little less raspy this time, but still pained. He hit -hard,- heh.

Audri just sort of stands there between Taye and Zeraph, looking over at Darklett worriedly. She shifts from footpaw to footpaw, brushtail beginning to floof some.

Quinten looks up as the Major speaks "Glad to hear your still with us sah, aye'd hate to have to carry either of you up to the infirmary"

They'll argue the details later, no doubt, but for now sending a higher ranking officer

flying /with witnesses/ is enough for Zeraph. ;) He sighs at him, going to take the daggers from the Major and pass them up to the person closest to him. Audri. After this he grins at Dark. "Wow. We may not have lasted much longer than that." He moves to start shifting his arms up under Darklett, either to help him sit up, or to just pick him up altogether. "Though, may still have to carry /him/ along to the infirmary."

Quinten smiles and holds the sword up, examine it with a steady eye before hanging it back on the rack and holding his paw out to audri "Here let me check those for damage, a damaged training weapon can be deadly" he glances at the Liuetenant and growns "Oh man..but the Major is heavy....i'm only a shorten"

Darklett rolls his head back and forth slowly. "No, I don't need help, I'm fine, I'm fine..." He rolls onto his side, then back on his back as the lieutenant lifts him up a little. "I'm fine, really..." He has his regular voice back, but the back of his paw is held on his lower back, and his shoulders roll uncomfortably.

Audri accepts the daggers, eyes going over the edges before pulling them close. Her eyes return to looking over Dark from her spot behind Raph, continuing to dance from footpaw to footpaw, brushtail growing fuller by the moment. "I thought 'e wasn't 'urt?" She turns to Quinten, brow furrowing. "The daggers are fine thanks."

Since Quinten and Zeraph seem to have it, Taye takes a step back, though he still keeps a concerned eye on his major. His eyes shift to Zeraph. "Sah, mayhaps I ought t'go get a healah, just in case?"

Quinten blinks as the squirrel frowns at him, he was just trying to be helpful....he stuffs the sandpaper back in his pocket "Oh fine then" he murmurs and looks at the Major "You sure you ok sir...you look done in to me...." he trails off to silence and murmurs "but then i can't speak can i" trailing off into silence murmuring to himself

Zeraph grins at Darklett. "Getting too old for this, chap?" He jokes, trying to get a reaction from the Major. At Taye's suggestion, he nods his head. "Yes. Thank you. Just in case." The officer goes back to getting the other back onto the mat as gently as possible.

Better than the stone floor.

With a nod, Taye turns and jogs for the exit. Off he goes.

Darklett starts trying to stand up by himself... And he has rather good progress, his footpaws and legs holding up beneath him just fine. "I'm fine, I don't need a..." He watches Taye go. "...A healer." His paw rubs at his lower back again, and he lets out a bit of a cough. "Good fight, Zer..."

Audri finally stops her worried hopping, opting on biting her lip instead. She remains just behind Zeraph, holding the daggers close, eyes flickering to Dark.

Quinten remains sat on the bench looking down at the floor now and fiddling with an ear, glad the Major is ok

Zeraph grins at Darklett, going to pat him on the shoulder as he straightens up. "Yeah. We should do it again sometime..." He chuckles, then glances over at Audri with a reassuringly smile. Which is also a silent greeting to the young squirrel.

Taye runs back in with a healer short on his tail. He's fine - the healer's puffing. The runner points, "Ovah there, sah." And over the healer walks.

Quinten smiles at the puffing healer and stands up "Well i should go change into uniform"

Darklett coughs out again, and pats Zeraph back. "Mmhmm... Little bit of a late hit, don't ya think?" He winks, giving Zeraph a nudge and waving off the healer. "It's not necessary, chap, really." And, naturally, as a healer, he doesn't listen, and starts to drag him off. Darklett doesn't protest, simply rolling his eyes and heading along with him. "Rematch soon, Zer?"

Audri offers a meek grin back to Zeraph, head dipping in a nod. "Evenin' sir." She mumbles quietly, glancing over at Dark again. "Would ya like yer daggers back sir?"

Quinten pads up to stand next to raph "YOu two...were like awesome...i hope i can be that good one day" he smiles up at the lieutenant and salutes "Permission to be excuse sah"

Zeraph nods his head. "Rematch soon!" He calls after Darklett as the Major is pulled out of the room, waving, then he grins at Audri. "Evening." Before he nods to Taye. "Thank you for your quick actions." And then, then recruit gets his attention last. "Ah. Thank you.. I think I'll excuse myself with you. Good night all!" He goes to lead Quinten off with him, grinning still.

Taye salutes to Zeraph. "G'night, sah."

Quinten blinks as he's led off by the liuetenant trailing along behind him slowly, he waves good bye to everyone"
