Mossflower Woods

The woods are dense here, but for a well-hidden path that snakes through the underbrush. The trees sway softly in a light breeze, and you hear the sounds of the forest all around you. Dappling shadows and patches of light dance across the forest loam, formed by the intricately interwoven canopy above. To the east, the woods seem still denser, darker, and far more intimidating.

Standing outside in the forest, Jarril looks up to see if he can see anything flying overhead. Shaking his head, he looks back down again and gives a frown as he see's another hare. "Any sign of Jaxx?" Seeing the wary hare shake his head, the major nods. "We give it a few days and have to call off the search." He frowns on this one though. "Stupid recruits. Anyways go inside, get some rest and then head back out again."

The door to the outpost hinges open and a young buck staggers our carrying a large bucket both paws. It appears to be full of the ashes and waste from the kitchen fires. He looks about with a frown trying to work out where he is meant to dispose of this mess.

Jarril grins as he looks at Quinten. "You bury it, go dig a hole, put that lot into it and then make sure that the ground looks okay. That should keep ya out of mischief for most of the day, though I don't expect ya ta be that long about it."

Quinten looks over at Jarril and salutes "Yes sir, thank you sir." He places the bucket down and darts back inside quickly before the door snaps closed. He is not gone long soon returning with a spade and a Mattock his white chore reliefs already soiled with charcoal dust only going to get more soiled by dirt now. But then its better then ruining a uniform. With bucket and spade in his paws he trudges a short way into the trees and starts to dig.

Shaking his head he looks at the other hare coming out and smiles. "Hello, colonel. Still no word from the mountain though it should arrive soon. I still apologise that some recruits have soiled my good name around here." Jarril looks down with a slight frown. "I don't think we will be that much of a problem for ya at all or the abbey, hope this doesn't affect any relations either, though I suppose that's something else I will have ta fix."

Quinten's ears pin back and his ducks is head low digging away swifltly ears burning with the shame of all the trouble he has caused. He slowly digs out a hole a good three feet deep and steps out of it.

Jarril and the colonel keep on talking as the major gets a question and shrugs. "Haven't a bally clue, though it looks like for the first time in a few seasons that we may have either a demotion or worse, dismissal.." Looking out to the tree line he frowns. "Which overall means that I've failed them both. I just hope the remaining recruits here don't follow in their footsteps."

Quinten's ears stiffen as the words "demotion" and "dismissal" reach his ears. With a sigh and pours the bucket of waste into the hole carefully and then begins to fill it in, shoveling back in the dire he just removed.

Jarril looks to the sky again and nods slowly. "Well, when there's a message for me, make sure it gets ta me immediately. Ya may as well call Quinten ta me as well at the same time. Anyways I best get back inside." Without saying another word, the major heads back into the place and closes the fake wall behind him.

Quinten watches the Major leave and shakes his head with a sigh patting down the turf again to make sure there is no sign of where he buried the ashses and kitchen wastes.
