RW Abbey: Great Hall

The Great Hall of Redwall Abbey. Countless paw falls have echoed from these stones, and untold numbers of feasts and merry gatherings have been held here. A table, not nearly so grand or large as its predecessors, but quite functional for mealtimes, rests near the center of the hall. Chairs exist here aplenty, though most of them are obviously not from the same set. Many of the stained glass windows are broken, and have been patched with canvas and boards to fend against the elements. The floor is clean and swept. A fire is kept burning in the fireplace at almost all times of the day and night, and there are several more comfortable chairs and cushions set up here, of varying sizes. One looks large enough to easily accommodate a badger.

The Tapestry hangs proud and tall, and while the rest of Redwall may still bear the scars of natural disaster, this most famous of Redwall's relics remains unharmed by beast, time, or the elements. The figure of Martin the Warrior seems to be watching over his own with an unchanging, kindly gaze.

Soft light is slowly beginning to filter in through the stained glass windows high above your head.

The great hall is doing what the Great Hall does best, its flooded with bright late spring sunshine, the stained glass windows sending coloured patterns about the place. At this time of day it is mostly empty except for the hair sat in a chair by the fireplace slowly working away on something in his lap.

Empty, but not for long. Another hare appears, though this one isn't a Long Patroller; it's an Abbey brother. Keiran steps quietly out of the library, only the click of his staff against the stone floor of the abbey. As is the norm with the hare, he's got a book folded open in his paw, looking over the two pages open to him as he hobbles to the Great Hall table for a change of scenery from the library.

Entering slowly from the breezeway is another creature, this one looking like a hare, but would be quick to correct that she is, indeed, a rabbit. Gabriel is heading slowly towards the stairs, her paws clasped together firmly as she keeps her eyes on the ground in front of her, not noticing anyone about.

It seems as if some unheard signal has sounded, and that everyone has unanymously decided to make wtheir way to the Great Hall. The Colonel is among them, appearing from the kitchen, her typical morning or early afternoon mug of tea steaming away in paw. Her gaze is lowered to a parchment which she reads from and she takes no notice of anyone else present. At least for the time being.

Keiran has a seat with a rather unceremonious flop, resting his staff against the table and leaving his book open. He does, however, look up to examine his surroundings. And... Well, there's one familiar face, no matter from how long ago it was, or if they ever even met, and two others, one obviously a Long Patroller, and a rabbit. Apparently, none of this is quite enough to distract him, though, and with a roll of his shoulders, he goes back to his reading.

Quinten hmms and looks up from the habit in his lap, holding the needle and thread in one paw "Oh Hello Colonel ma'am" he stands up and salutes her, shifting the material in his paws. he then catches sight of Keiran in the chair opposite and smiles and nods a hellow,

Quinten spots Gabriel at that point behind Keiran's chair and forget the decorum of saluting the colnel, dumping the habitt he darts around the chair to throw his arms about her and bury his head in her shoulder "Your here...Gabby...i'm sorry"

Gabriel is startled and jumps when Quinten touches her, and she turns, eyes still downcast, flicking them into his eyes for just a moment before shying away again slightly. "H'lo, Quin. How're you?"

Quinten sighs and just holds her for a moment and then steps back and salutes "I'm well Gabriel....nice..to see you....uhm.>" he shuffles "Did you dump me?"

Gabriel rolls her eyes before smirking slightly. "What do you think?" She gives him a little hug before backing away from him. "For now we're still together. 'S your one chance."

Well, the Colonel can't stay in her own world forever, especially not when certain novice-recruits call her name. She looks up, but rather than Quinten, the first thing she sees is Darkle- wait. The Colonel does a double-take, her eyes locking onto the oldest buck in the room with open-mouthed surprise. Her mug and archment are forgotten, and lowered to her sides. She starts toward Keiran, her brow furrowed.

Quinten nods his head and smiles "You'll see Gabby i'll refuse to even go in the wine cellar... you'll see.." he then spots the colonel again and grimaces "Erf...i'd best go say saorry" he smiles at Gabby and then races across

Gabriel watches Quinten go. Insecure little thing. Well...she was hard on him. She had been heading up to try and sleep...again. Not much luck. The rabbit spots Zoe and arches a brow. Thought she'd still be at the Mountain. Ah, well. A light pitter-patter of feet echos in the stairwell as Gabby exeunts.

Keiran's ears are perked back in listening, though his face doesn't lift from his book. Turning a page, he hums to himself in a sort of idle sigh of a yawn, arms stretching out before him in a stretch. Scanning over the pages, he flips through a few rather quickly, then stops, apparently finding what he needs.

Quinten moves across and salutes the Colonel again "Sorry about tha ma'am.. personal bussiness you know wot..whose tha...Major! How did he.." he blinks in surprise and looks at the Colonel again.

Trillium is shown in by a smiling, chattering molemum. The mousemaid's hood is pulled back so that everybeast can see her face, grinning down at her curious hostess. "Burr, you'm be roightly welcomed, marm..just 'ee sit eeself doawn, an oi'll gettum a cup o' tea! Iffun you'm waits, then oi'm serpintly sure somebeast'll be 'round to help ee get settled, burr aye! We'm allus glad to see a pritty young maid at ee h'Abbey." The mouse bobs a courtsey to her companion as the mole trundles off toward the kitchen, and brings her attention 'round to the gathered hares. She edges toward the group with a shy but friendly nod, smiling hesitantly. "Hello.."

... No. Not Darklett, not quite. Without a word to Quinten, the Colonel starts forward, eyes studying the creature in her path. There's the ear that's different, and now that she really looks, the leg. She comes to a stop before the reading hare and clears her throat.

Keiran first looks up at the sound of the mole leading the mousemaid in. He knows a newcomer when he sees one, and cranes his neck forward to catch a glimpse. Grinning and giving a cheery wave, he calls out, "Welcome t'Redwall Abbey, miss! Glad t'see y'found y'way 'ere." Welcoming done, Keiran is about to go back to reading, when the Colonel stops before him, obviously demanding his attention. "...'ello, Colonel. C'n I 'elp ya?"

Quinten peers around the Colonel with curiosity rampant on his muzzle and flicks his ears back wondering who this is... could it be the Major's brother? if so he's in luck.

Trillium smiles a bit more at what of Keiran she can see, being as there's a Colonel in the way. She's curious, but this isn't her affair so she doesn't ask. Instead she finds a seat and settles nearby, both ears perked toward the little group. Nosey nosey.

"I believe you share a relation t' one of my ma-" Pause. "T' Darklett." She considers the buck thoughtfully for a moment before she becomes aware of Quinten's curious presence. She glances over her shoulder at him with a frown and an admonishment, "I could've sworn yer novice duties were t' begin today. I doubt droppin' eaves is amongst them."

Quinten looks up at the Colonel and flicks his ears up "Aye ma'am they have" he nods at the habit "as soon as i finish adjusting this, but if thats who i think it is ma'am i have a duty...me last duty to perform from the Major and thats to deliver a letter to him"

At least for the moment, Keiran is forgotten - who for one reason or another leaves them to finish their exchange. "A duty which I presume c'n wait 'til I've had words with him?" An eyebrow goes up.

Quinten sighs and lets his ears fall back "Aye ma'am...as ye say sorry...just...ahh never mind" he turns and trudges back to his seat to resume his sewing, attempting to turn a habbit from an ungainly swamp to something that will actually fit him, starring dejectedly as he sews

Trillium seems to have missed something, but at least Quinten can offer some distraction while she waits for her tea. The mousemaid clears her throat, tilting her head. "Excuse me, sir..may I join you?" Her eyes are on the mess of fabric in the hare's paws, the mouse's smile broadening ever still. She's not quite sure what to make of the Colonel..Quinten seems a bit safer.

Quinten looks up and smiles at the Mouse "Good day to you miss, welcome to Redwall abbey, I'm Quinten"

Trillium bows politely as she has a seat next to Quinten, folding her paws in her lap. "Mine's Trillium..nice to meet you, Quinten! What've you got there?" She gestures toward the sewing, examining Quinten's handiwork. "Do you mend a lot?"

Quinten laughs and holds up the habbit "Not at all miss, this is supposed to be my habbit for my recruit work, but its miles too big, they don't seem to cater for my height ye see"

Trillium giggles. "Well, maybe I can help. Where does it need to come in and where does it fit alright?" She studies the habit as it's held aloft, tut-tutting. "We'll have to work on those stitches..what sort of recruit work are you expected to do?"

Quinten laughs and stands and shrugs into the habit until his head pops through, its miles too long onthe arms, baggy about the shoulders and it trails a good three inches too low on the floor "I'm joining the abbey Novice programme so am expected to dress accordingly"

Trillium shakes her head, expression mournful. "Oh, this will never never do.." She plucks at the sleeves, rubbing her chin thoughtfully. "This habit looks more fit for a badger lord than a hare..do you know how much help you're allowed to receive?"

Quinten laughs softly "Oh its not a chore miss anyone can help if they are willing, i'm just not so good at anything above and beyond a simple repair"

Furgo walks into the Great Hall from the staircase, each paw in the folds of it's opposing sleeve.

Trillium sighs heavily, patting the hare's abandoned seat with a paw. "Well, then, have a seat and we'll have a look. Such a waste of fabric..we'll make sure it all works, though, hmm?" The mousemaid rubs her paws together, just as her mole hostess returns with a tray heavily laden with a teapot, extra cups, and some steaming scones. "Here ee go, noaw, marm, noice as ee pleases! You'm be carful, tho', it's roight hot! Oi've got moi chores to do, but you'm just make ee'self at home." The mole missus tugs at her snout and bobs to the gathered hares, shuffling off and leaving the goodies behind. "Well..maybe we can have a look at it after a snack?" Trill suggests, gesturing to the tray.

Quinten smiles and sits back down dwarfed in the over sized novice robes, he shifts and lifts up the cowl and drapes it forwards, it hangs down over his head "You'd think they would have a smaller size but they are either too small or too big, this is the best they had."

Jarril comes in from the outside as he looks about, giving a nod to people and stops looking at Quinten. Placing a paw over his mouth he coughs and walks in. "Ah, Quinten, lad. Ya look quite well in those, wot."

Quinten looks up at his Major and salutes a paw, or at least his arm raises his paw could be doing anything under that pile of fabric "Thanks Major, are these really neccessary though me uniform is just as good"

Sunrose makes her way up the stairs, her paw gripping into the curved upper portion of a cane. By the time she gets to the top of the stairs, she's breathless, but smiling. "Look at all these faces!"

Jarril lifts a brow up and ponders before replying back to Quinten.. "Well, best ta do everything the ordah wishes and may as well use their uniform, wot. Ya get used ta it, lad." The major quite happy he's not wearing such.

Geralde walks in, from outside, limping slightly, but smiling nonetheless.

Quinten smiles and nods "Aye sir i guess your right...but it'll still be a pain having to change to do me recruit changing...not that this thing fits yet anyway"

Keiran's ears swivel a bit as his eyes go from Quinten to Zoe. While curious as to what Quinten has to say, he gives his attention to the Colonel at the moment. That is, until Sunrose enters. Then, he stands. "Sister! Er, 'scuse me, ma'am," he gives a bow to the Colonel. "Sister Sunrose, good t'see y'up an' about!" A cheery wave is given to her, before he turns back to Zoe. "Sorry, now, 'ow c'n I 'elp ya?"

Furgo waves at everyone, and Sunrose too.

Sunrose is going for double support now, leaning one shoulder against the wall and holding onto the cane with the other. She looks pretty steady, regardless. "Good afternoon, Brother! It's good to see those ears again." as she witnesses Furgo's wave, she smiles. "Furgo, afternoon."

Geralde waves at everyone as well, still smiling broadly.

Quinten looks over at the sister and turns his salute on her shaking back his sleeve to get his paw free "Good day to ye sister ma'am wot, erm...guess that'd be Novice Quinten reporting fa duty as ordered ma'am"

Trillium pours herself a cup of tea from the tray left behind, nibbling at a scone and perking both ears as she spots Sunrose. Something about her fellow mouse speaks authority, especially seeing how everybeast's responding to her. "Hello, ma'am!" She might get drowned out by everyone else's greetings, but it's worth a shot. She gets to her feet to make herself more visible, moving in Sunrose's direction.

Sunrose watches the salute with rapt curiousness, but doesn't choose to mimic it. She figures she'd look awful silly. "Well, Novice Quinten, I order you to relax and have a good time here. Oh, and not to join up with Keiran and become an unstoppable eating force!" Whistle. The sister straightens, catching the feminine sound of Trillium's voice. "Hello there!"

Geralde goe sover to a chair, and sits down, still smiling.

Sunrose pulls a scroll out of her pocket, her left paw shaking as she attempts to unroll it.

Jarril gives a grin nonetheless to that order as the major promptly thinks of things for

Quinten to do regardless. He however doesn't speak but keeps from the main flow of traffic, leaning against the wall.

Furgo heads for a chair as well, sitting down. He looks at Geralde's smile with a bit of cuiosity.

Quinten chuckles "I'm sorry ma'am but seems i can't obey tha last order already am an unstopable force when it comes to food, ask tha Major thar" he nods at his commander and stands up padding over towards him "Sah... wot will my schedule be in regards to recruit training anyhow?"

Trillium heads in Sunrose's direction, rather than make the older mouse come all the way over to her. It takes a bit of weaving through the crowd, but the mousemaid manages well enough. Except her paws are still full, what with scone and teacup. The best she can do is bow, a bending of the knees and a solemn nod of respect. "Ma'am..would you be the one I need to speak to about becoming a part of this Abbey?"

Sunrose manages to finally unravel the scoll, leaning forward to narrow her eyes and focus on the script. After a moment, she rolls it up, crinkling the paper with the manner of her shaking before she slides the parchment back into her sleeve. This of course, coincides with Trillium's arrival. The mousemaid returns with a deep headbow, "Well, one of many! .. The Brother's and Sister's can all induct you .. I'm Sister Sunrose, would you be interested in joining the Order?"

Keiran's ears flick as the Colonel's dragged away by an urgent recruit matter, his face twisting to the side. Well, all kinds of almost-conversations going on today, isn't there? His attention is about to go back to the book and chair he'd originally stopped into the Great Hall for, until he hears something about an induction. Glancing his attention to the mousemaid, he smiles, leaning on his staff as he makes his way to the other side of the table. "M'sure y'd make a fantastic addition t'th'Order, miss, 'f y'int'rested 'n joinin' us." He stops a few paces short of Trill, with a shrug and a polite smile.

Furgo turns to look towards Trillium and Sunrose and Keiran.

Sunrose waves her paw, "Ah.. ah.. Furgo! Come here a moment, please." she beckons him to join the other brother and herself, along with a potential inductee.

Quinten waits patiently before the Major, ears tilted back listening to the conversation going on between the mice and the hare.

Furgo nods, gets up, and walks over towards Sunrose.

Keiran's brow raises, and he looks to Furgo, then a silent 'ah' comes to his features, and he grins with a little wiggle of those raised brows, swaying back and forth, leaning on his walking staff.

Sunrose's cane idly pokes in the direction of Keiran's foot.

A bundle of chattering, wet, bubble coated dibbuns charges out of the staires fro, the kitchens and escapes across Great Hall and out into the grounds. An otter soon comes into view muttering under his breath and peering about the all, he's holding a large pot in one paw and a scrubbing brush in the other "Oooh when aye get them" he grumbles and starts to stalk towards the door.

Geralde watches Furgo and everyone in the vicinity closely.

At the poke, Keiran immediately straightens his expression. Well, after one more big grin, just to get it out of his system. He clears his throat and pivots his body to be able to look at both Trillium and Furgo.

Jarril looks at Quinten as he speaks quietly after some thought. "Hmmm, have ta make sure that ya doing the same amount of work that ya would've been doing at the mountain. Can't have ya being slack now, wot. Besides, need ta arrange another lesson for ya lot as well, see how much ya remember about woodland tactics."

Trillium smiles warmly. "I'd be delighted, marm..I've heard such wonderful things about the Abbey, that's why I came. My family lives south of here, quite a ways...I've been traveling some time. My parents told me I'd be welcome here." She gives Furgo a curious glance, then returns her attention to Sunrose.

Quinten shudders "Aye sir..well at least here we kin put woodland tactics into practice....though personal request sah? no more logboats...thhose things are murder.

Jarril chuckles slightly. "Ah, ya get use ta it, Quinten."

Sunrose reaches out to put a paw on Trillium's shoulder, smiling with her eyes closed. "Well, You've come to the right place. We're so very happy to have you .. but, you've also arrived on a very special day for someone, and so, you will be apart of it as well." there's a pause in which she situates herself, setting the cane against the wall and stepping back so she can bring Furgo into her line of vision. "Furgo, can you please step over to me?" over his shoulder, Sunny gives Keiran paticular look.

Somewhere on the muck, Taye has disconnected.

Furgo steps over towards Sunrose.

Geralde watches the scene. New novice though he is, his look still says that he thinks he knows what's happening. Sort of.

Garn spots the sister and starts to head towards her, seemingly oblivious to everyone else around him, he worms his way between Furgo and Trillium, seven foot of otter not being too hard to shift small mice out of his way. "Sister!" he mutters "They wrecked the scullery again..." he glances at Furgo and smiles "afternoon Furgo"

Keiran coughs at the look, clearing his throat again, hobbling towards the more center of the room. "'scuse me!" He lifts his staff and drops it on the floor a few times, making a few loud knocking sounds echo throughout the Hall. "'scuse me! 'f Sister Sunrose an' th'Order c'd please 'ave y'attention f'jus' a moment, thank ya!"

Geralde has already given his attention.

Sunrose squeaks in surprise as Garn steps in, " .. Garn!" she gasps, reaching back behind her to find the wall in an attempt to keep from falling over. "I promise I'll address that, I really well, but I dearly do need to speak with Furgo a moment!"

Keiran's announcement, of course, helps.

Furgo watches, and well, you can obviously see his mind has already started to form some vague idea of what might be going on at present.

Shalina comes out of the kitchen, still wet from doing the dishes, and with a wet rag in one hand. "Wha's th' commotion about?" she asks.

Garn nods and turns to look at Furgo, watching the mouse intently now the sister has told him to shush for a moment "Ok then" is all he says

Quinten turns his head from talking to the Major to look over at Furgo and the gathering around the abbey mice. He glances at the tall otter and shakes his head, he definatly is an odd one"

Trillium eyes the massive otter, a look of awe chasing away the friendly smile for just a moment before she focuses her attention now on Furgo, who seems to be the center of everything happening.

< I got d/c so i missed Furog being made a brother >

Shalina nods and smiles at the news, not clapping though, due to her paws being occupied.

Sunrose waits until the clapping has gone softer before she reaches over and touches Furgo's shoulder. "Your first act of duty, Furgo .. is to please induct this young miss to the Order." she motions to Trillium, winking at the mousemaid.

Garn is still stood being silent, watching Furgo and pats him between the ears with a heavy paw "Well done Furgo"

Quinten claps his paws and his ears together "Well lets hope i can reach that stage hey wotr Major?"

Keiran takes a step backwards, letting Furgo have some room to work with. He looks to

Sunrose with a grin. Good strategizing, Sister. Simply resigning to watching Furgo, he rests against his staff again.

Trillium folds her arms behind her back, whiskers flaring since she can't really blush. She smiles shyly at Sunrose, turning to face Furgo with ears tucked back against her head.

Sunrose looks at Keiran innocently with a broad smile.

Furgo says, "I understand you wish to enter the order, then?"

Garn turns back to Sunrose now it all seems to be over with and waves the pot in his paw and the brush, flicking soapy water all over "Sister.....my scullery"

Sunrose squeaks, ducking behind Keiran to avoid the soapy water, She peers from around his arm, "Garn! My floor!"

Jarril looks at Quinten with a grin. "Hmm, I think more importantly ya be trying ta make it ta private rank, that is unless ya change what ya want ta do with ya life, Quinten lad."

Trillium nods, bowing her head respectfully. "Indeed I do, Brother."

Quinten smiles up at the older one eyed hare "yes sah but i got to reach the end of this training programme afore you'll promote me aye wot?"

Furgo asks, seeming to think back aways, "Well, what makes you want to enter the order?"

Shalina grumbles at the spilled water, walking over to wipe it up, getting on her hands and knees doing so, muttering something about "only jus' mopped 'at".

Sunrose looks downward, "And.. well, Shalina's floor too!"

Keiran really isn't paying much attention that low to see the water coming... And looks really confused when Sunrose ducks behind him. But, he looks down at the mouse Sister's reference to her floor, and notes that the bottom of his habit is now wet, as well as his sandals. "...Hm, heh."

Garn merfs and drops the brus into the pot to get it out of the way "Sorry Sister...misses Shalina but they ruined the place, pushed all the pots an pans an bowls over"

Jarril fixes his eye patch slightly with a paw as he replies back. "Hmmm, who said that? All I can remember is for ya ta behave." He places a paw on Quinten's shoulder and pats it. "We forget about what happened on the way here with the shrews though, ya only get one mind." The major moving his paw back to his side.

Trillium straightens up, tilting her head. "Well, because I like to help..I need something to do with my life. I've heard so much good about Redwall, it sounded like the sort of place I'd like to be. Wet floors and all." She grins in Garn's direction. "To benefit others, rather than just myself."

Quinten looks up at the major and nods his head "Yes sah..though did i do wrong? Learning ow ta row a boat? It was hard i can tell ye that, those shrews are barmy sah"

Furgo asks, "And what do you aim to become in this order? A scholar, a healer, a gardener, a caretaker, a cook, or something else?"

Trillium twitches her whiskers thoughtfully. "Well, what does the Order need most right now?"

Sunrose adds in quickly, stepping from behind Keiran. "Not that you have to choose right now!" she offers to Trillium. The mousemaid, very slowly, attempts to get down on her knees and help Shalina.

Jarril grins. "I was on about the porridge over ya head, I was watching from the undergrowth, undercover tactic training, doncha know." He pauses as he looks at Quinten. "Though it was hard not ta laugh aloud from it mind."

Garn uses his tail to wipe over some of the water, letting his fur soak it up, "Sorry Sister...let me...don't you get down an i'm sorry...but...i worked really hard in there an its all a mess again, stupid dibbuns"

Furgo says, "All types, but do you have any particular goals for your time in the order, then?

Quinten's ears turn bright red "Oh...you saw tha sir...wasn't my fault those shrews went at me with it...how was i suposeed tae know wot they were up to"

Keiran looks at Sunrose as she starts to try and help Shalina, but he shakes his head, a paw going out to stop Sunrose, grabbing her shoulder gently. "Erm, Sister, I don' know 'f tha'd be f'th'bes', wha' with y'jus' gettin' outta bed from sickness. Jus' r'lax, I'll 'elp. Look, s'jus' a li'l water, won' take lon' at all t'mop up." The paw sorta stays there, in case she should... You know, keep trying.

Jarril chuckles at Quinten. "Give me some credit, I am about when you least expect it, but ya did nothing wrong so nothing ta worry about."

Sunrose baps at Garn's tail gently, "I'll come help you get all that back together, we can find the dibbuns later, it won't be hard, as they were all soapy." But of course, she's stopped by Keiran. She gives him a sheepish smile. "I am feeling much better though .. Don't worry Shalina, we'll get it all mopped up."

Shalina has soon wiped up the whole spill, despite the otter's waving his tail over it. "No problem, Sunrose." she says, sounding more cheerful now, seeing the mousemaid. "I'm glad t' see ye out o' bed."

Garn lifts his thick rudder out of the way when its hit "Ok sister thanks....can we take some novices too?" he fiddles with the pot in his paws looking about the hall "Lots of hares about too"

Trillium shakes her head. "Not really...I'm afraid I hadn't planned ahead more than just coming here. I suppose I can make myself useful wherever I'm needed, and then at a later date choose where I'd like to specialize."

"Yeh, y'feelin' better," Keiran gives a soft smile to the mouse, "Bu' tha's why m'not lettin' ya get back t'work jus' yet. M'sure we'd all like y't'be better f'more'n a day b'fore y'back in bed again, heh."

Quinten smiles "Yes sir and your good i hardly saw you the whole trip... still did me best to stay out of trouble, though you being about might have made Flaxpaw less mopey." he looks over at the otter "That's odd sir.." he murmurs "That otter was more collected when he greeted us when we arrived here"

Furgo says, "Fine then, repeat after me."

Trillium giggles. "After me!"

Sunrose is just about to respond to Keiran when Trillium's comment takes her off guard, she attempts to stifle a laugh with the back of her paw.

Furgo chooses to ignore this, and says, "To be Brothers and Sisters of peace and goodwill, living together in harmony under the protection of Redwall Abbey, forsaking all unnecessary forms of violence, not only to Mossflower, its trees, grasses, flowers, and insects, but to all living creatures. To help and comfort the dispossessed, harbor orphans and waifs, offer shelter to all creatures alike, give clothing, warmth and food to any beast or creature that is deemed in need of such. To educate and learn, particularly in the healing arts, comfort the sick, nurse the injured and help the wounded."

Jarril hmms slightly as he leans next to Quinten, speaking quietly. "Sorry about that, had some things on my mind. Anyways, anything happen with Harper along the trip?"

Garn looks at Trillium and shakes his head "Mice are all mad, laughing at her being silly, if that was me you'd tell me off or something" grumpy otter today.

No stifling happens with Keiran. He doesn't bother, just letting out a quick, very noticeable chuckle, before going quiet as Furgo recites the vows of an Orderbeast.

Quinten looks up at Jarril and thinks "Hmmm nothing of note sir... he poled crafts, rowed log boats, ran the GUOSIM gauntlet that was... fun and useful too when it came to dodging uphill."

Sunrose reaches over and pinches Garn's upper arm softly. "Garn ... be nice."

Shalina gets on her feet again, and heads back to the kitchen without much ado. There's dishes to be done yet.

Garn winces and goes silent "yes sister...sorry sister" lowering his ears and rudder "I'll be good...don't throw me out please..i've been really good lately, honest i have"

Sunrose clucks her tongue at Garn, "Come now, having a sour day won't get you tossed out."

Garn smiles somewhat "Ok...sorry its...just been hard today thats all....i think something hit me on the head too when everything fell over"

Trillium lifts her chin, unable to squelch the playful smile as she repeats, "To be Brothers and Sisters of peace and goodwill, living together in harmony under the protection of Redwall Abbey.." She pauses as he continues and then adds, "..forsaking all unnecessary forms of violence, not only to Mossflower, its trees, grasses, flowers, and insects, but to all living creatures.." Another pause. "To help and comfort the dispossessed, harbor orphans and waifs, offer shelter to all creatures alike, give clothing, warmth, and food to any beast or creature that is deemed in need of such...to educate and learn, particularly in the healing arts, comfort the sick, nurse the injured, and help the wounded!" She bows after this mouthful, gesturing with teacup and scone and beaming up at the new Brother.

Furgo continues, "To take our food from the earth and replenish the land by caring for it, husbanding crops and living in harmony with the seasons always. To honor and protect our friends and brethren, only raising paw to do battle when our life at Redwall is threatened by treachery and the shadow of war; at these times every Redwall creature should show courage, fortitude and obedience to the Father Abbot or Mother Abbess. Albeit the taking of another life must always be justified and never carried out in a wanton manner."

Jarril nods at Quinten's reply. "Ah, well don't worry about it then."

Quinten looks up at jarril with a puzzled frown, strange that he'd ask after Harper "We learn to fish some too...an he told me that his step dad beat him up before he left as well...thoughtr you might need to know that sir"

Jarril gives a frown back at Quinten though it's not really at him. "Yes I know, thankfully he be away from that being here for a while at least until we go back. Hoping he be able ta defend himself and stick up for himself before we do however."

Sunrose murmurs, "Trillium." to Furgo, you know, just in case.

Trillium continues, as well. "To take our food from the earth and replenish the land by caring for it, husbanding crops and living in harmony with the seasons always. To honor and protect our friends and brethren, only raising paw to do battle when our life at Redwall is threatened by treachery and the shadow of war; at these times every Redwall creature should show courage, fortitude and obedience to the Father Abbot or Mother Abbess. Albeit the taking of another life must always be justified and never carried out in a wanton manner.." She pauses to see if there's any more, waiting patiently.

Quinten smiles "Well sah us recruits try an stick together, i'll make sure tae go with him when he goes to see his old man next.. though its odd never did say wot happened to his actual father"

Garn shuffles about the floor to check he's gotten all the water with his tail and then wipes it dry with his apron

Furgo smiles broadly, and says, "Congratulations and welcome to the order of Redwall Abbey, Novice Trillium."

Jarril blinks and coughs slightly. "Ah well, yes. Well given enough time he may decide ta declare that information." The major gives Quinten a look. "Don't bother asking me either, it's up ta him on deciding with something that personal, but thanks for the offer

Geralde starts clapping again.

Sunrose breaks into a clap as well, "Congratulations, Trillium!"

Garn smiles at Trill and waves his pot "welcome to redwall abbey miss Trillium, i'm Garn...the mnice kinda let me stay here and let me work in their scullery, you should come down sometime its warm and wet"

Quinten blinks and nods "Wasn't asking sah, just wondering, hope i can get to know him a bit better aws we'll be here for awhile"

Keiran claps as well for Trillium, that same goofy grin on his face. Lots of activity today. "C'ngratulations, miss. Welcome aboard!"

Trillium grins across at Quinten, since it seems she might soon be altering her own habit, as well. For now, though, the mousemaid just beams proudly, nodding politely to Furgo. "Thank you very much, Brother!"

Furgo says, "You're very welcome." He grins broadly.

Jarril nods his head. "So er, Quinten. Just so I know did ya take that oath that was spoken out just now or not? I'd rather nothing would get in your way on patrah training, don't want ta have ta go through all that training again after this is finished." The major looks for the colonel and not seeing her, shrugs. "Hmmm, sure something could be worked out in due time..."

Quinten thinks and shakes his head "No i've not taken that oath sah... am i meant to? As you say could prove a bit tricky when the time comes to go home"

Everything having been done now, Keiran turns to the table and starts to make his way towards his book again, looking back and forth for the colonel that demanded his attention before. Apparently, she's still occupied by whatever she was summoned to do, so he shrugs and has a seat, burying his nose into the volume in front of him once again.

Jarril ponders and shakes his head back at Quinten. "I go for no at the moment but let me check that up at least."

Quinten nods and salutes the Major "Ok sir...erm can you excuse me...i need to deliver something to that brother" he nods at the hare.

Trillium finally gets to sip her tea, returning to a seat so she can finish up her snack.

Jarril gives his usual nod to dismiss Quinten and resumes watching the goings on in the room.

Quinten pads across to Keiran in his over large, floppy habbit and salutes him "Excuse me sah...brother...erm...."

Garn looks about tapping his pot with a claw and begins to weave his way across the room towards the Major, going to go say hello to him

Keiran's head turns away from his book to spot the recruit turned novice. "Ah, 'ello. Y'had somethin' t'tell me b'fore? Sorry, with all th'hares an' new beasts 'round, s'tough t'keep up with everythin'." He turns in his chair, giving Quinten his full attention. "M'name's Keiran, by th'way."

Jarril notices Garn and smiles. "Ah, g'day Garn, how treats ya?"

Furgo goes over to sit down, and take sout his journal, in which he starts writing.

Quinten smiles widly at that name and fumbles under his habbit and take out a belt pouch "I hhave something for a brother Keiran of Redwall abbey from one Darklett, aye do believe ye may know him sah?"

Garn smiles and waves the pot "Oh not so good today, i'm having one of my bad days"

Trillium finishes up her tea and stands, attention directed to Sunrose. "Thank you again, Sister, for welcoming...I suppose I'll go get myself settled and see about my own habit." She bows to all gathered and shyly makes her way out of the crowd, one more extra scone in tow.

Trillium heads over towards the Stairs..

Jarril nods his head back at Garn. "Ah, I see. Everyone goes through those once in a while."

Furgo finishes his journal, and gets up as well. "Speaking of habits, I'd best go get one as well, seeing as I'm no longer a novice." He starts heading for the stairs too.

Furgo heads over towards the Stairs..

Garn smiles and nods his head "Me more then most i'm afraid, i should warn you... i'm not too ok in the head at times... the abbey is kind enough to let me stay but just warn your hares that if they see me trying to leave the abey grounds to try and stop me ok"

The librarian buck lightens up at the mention of a delivery from his brother. "Yeh, I do. Y'mus' be Quinten, then? I was told y'had somethin' f'me." He closes his book, suddenly not interested in it anymore.

Quinten pulls out the thick letter Darklett gave him to deliver and stares at it "I'm...not sure if its in the letter or not sir...think the Major wrote it before like...but well...he's not in the patrol any more"

Sunrose heads over towards the Stairs..

Keiran nods slowly to the recruit. "I've been told a'ready. Thankya, though." He looks at the letter, then Quinten's face. "I figure they 'ave a good 'nough reason, righ'?"

Jarril nods his head at Garn. "Aye, I tell them that while they're here anyways. Eventually it will just be me and some recruits left. If it's that much of a problem I can get some hares at our mossflower base ta do extra patrahs in case ya do manage ta slip past."

Garn smiles "Well that would be awfully nice Major Jarril i do worry about wandering out... i never seem to be able to remember what i get up to...one minute i'm in the abbey next thing i remember its sunset and i'm wandering the woods." he shivers and hugs his apron

Quinten hands over the letter "I am not sure of the reason i'm afraid Brother, he was a good officer though sir...something about his past catching him up or something"

Jarril nods. "Ah, don't worry Garn, not a problem. I keep an eye on ya as well as the other hares. I shall pass that information on ta the others."

Garn smiles "Thank you Major...." he looks about "So will you be staying here in Redwall?"

"Yeh, I see." Keiran takes the letter and lets it sit on the table. "Tha's what I 'ear, though. Tha' 'e was a good officer, an' I figure 'e musta been, 'r 'e wouldn'ta been promoted th'times 'e 'ad." He shrugs and rests an elbow on the table as well. "Think tha's wha' th'Colonel wants t'talk 'bout?"

Quinten shrugs "I wouldn't try to guess the Colonel's mind brother, but it could be, still i'll leave you to your letter now shall i?"

Jarril replies back to Garn. "Aye, I am the one ta look after the recruits, though ta be honest I ain't sure what else ta do eventually what with most of my patrah heading back ta the mountain its going ta be hard finding enough stuff for me ta do, I don't think they get into ta much trouble."

Garn smiles around the great hall "Come now Major, there is plenty to do here in Mossflower and if the abbey brothers and sisters are watching them you can take advantage of it... i could take you fishing, or you could run over to visit Camp Willow, go camping on the grasslands, or juust enjoy abbey life"

"...Righ'. Thankya, sir Quinten." Keiran lifts the letter, and gives a quick wave with it in a gesture of gratitude, then opens it, his eyes going to the top, and a smile immediately growing on his features, regardless of the news of his brother's discharge.

Quinten smiles and walks away from the abbey hare and looks about the hall, at a loss as to what to do now his habbit needs fixing but other then that..

Jarril nods his head. "I am thinking on starting a patrah anyways along the grasslands and part of Mossflower, going ta see how many hares I have though."

Garn smiles and nod shis head "I am sure you can do it Majuor if you put your mind to it"

Quinten pads off towards Cavern Hole, he'll work on his habbit down there"

Somewhere on the muck, Darklett has disconnected.

Furgo walks back up the stairs into the Great Hall, now wearing a brother's habit, and sits down in a chair.

Nodding his head, Jarril agree's with Garn. "Aye, I be sure ta find some things ta do around here or it will find me what with this uniform and all."

Garn chuckles "I am sure it will Mister Major you long patrol hares always seem to have the most fun"

Jarril gives off a sly grin at Garn. "Well, if ya call others wanting ta kill ya for being a patrollah then aye I suppose it could be classed as fun." The major gives a slight chuckle on that one. "At least it keeps me in practise though."

Garn nods "Aye...i used to be quite good with a dagger and a spear myself...should have seen me, dressed in a wrap about loincloth and me belts....wandeirng the woods, was a good life"

Twitching an ear, Jarril nods. "Well, it has its ups and downs, stopped a few big hordes from entering this country on the west over the seasons. Surprised I survived so many wars ta be honest, but it's a living and someone's got ta do it, wot."

Garn smiles sadly "aye sadly someone has to protect us agaisnt those who would do wrong..so that we might live here in this abbey in peace"

Furgo just watches the fire, not noticing anytihng around him.

Quinten comes padding back up from downstairs shaking out the folds of his habbit, the hems now been lifted so he can walk properly but the sleeves are still too long, he walks over to Furgo and smiles "Congratulations Brother"

Jarril chuckles. "Oh ya lot sometimes have what it takes I can assure ya. From reading past records at the mountain, even I wouldn't dare try and do harm ta this place." He stops talking and looks in the direction that Quinten has gone and smiles. "Though ta be honest, I am glad that there are some good hare's that will follow after me, need their protection one season." He twitches both ears. "Not that I am thinking on retiring just yet, mind ya."

Furgo turns to Quinten, and smiles, "Thanks."

Garn smiles "Ahhh you can't be that much older then me surely Major? Plenty of seasons left in you yet, you'll be running those little hares of yours into the ground for seasons to come"

Quinten smiles and holds out a paw "Your welcome"

Furgo shakes the paw, still smiling.

You ask, "So wat does it mean now that you are a brother furgo?"

Jarril ponders. "Well, not that old yet I admit." Talking to Garn. "Though this is maybe the first or the second time I've been here as a Majah." He closes his only eye and smiles. "Though I did pass here once when I wasn't a patrah officer, on my way ta the mountain for the first time at the age of er." He scratches his head. "I think it was six seasons I was then. However I was back again when I was eight or nine as a runnah in the patrah, just after the quake happened. And we came back again ta help fix the wall but I was a majah then at the age of twelve seasons I think..." He coughs. "Sorry, letting my thoughts run away with me again."

Furgo says, "Well, it means that now I teach novices, and I have a lot more responsibility, and that I get my own private room."

Garn nods his head and smiles "Well i turned 11 seasons at te start of spring so yer got a few on me sir but not many, still its good to have you back amongst us Major"

Quinten smirks "So you'll be teaching us ten?"

Furgo says, "I suppose."

Jarril chuckles at Garn. "Aye, hoping I can get through a season without having ta fight in some battle, be a change." He lowers his voice and whispers. "I tell ya what though, if and when it comes ta it, make sure Quinten." The major points out the hare. "Gets some hotroot stew or soup for punishment, he doesn't like it, makes him work better in case he's not up ta scratch with his chores, wot."

Garn beams and winks back at the Major "don't worry if the little un slacks off i'll dose im up good an proper, though he's a bit young fer this exchange of yours ins't it? thought only your erm...something level recruits where coming?"

You say, "Well that'll be good ten Furgo you can run is ragged""

Furgo chuckles to himself at the thought. "And to think I'm only seven seasons old."

Quinten winks "Your as old as me then Furgo so if ye can do it so can i"

Jarril nods, still looking at where Quinten is. "Well, he past the first stage of his training, just mind." The major doesn't mention the situation that nearly threatened it. "But we like ta get new privates by about eight or nine seasons, sometimes we have a few that manage ta get ta private at about seven seasons." He smiles. "I was good enough not ta have ta go through it, had my father train me as a leveret, retired colonel and all."

Garn smiles at the Major "That is young... us otters don't generally consider our pups old enough until they are at least 9 or 10...but i am sure you know your hares best...and he does look like he can look after himself"

Furgo smiles again.

You ask, "So what kind of lessons can i expect as a recrui then Furgo? and where can i go to practice me boxing like?""

Jarril places his paws across his chest. "He's capable, needs some growing up though as well as decide what path he's ta walk on." He looks at Garn. "Right now he's either going ta be a fine fightah or another fine recorder at our place, ours is nearing retirement but I won't pressure him on which one he should take. Best ta let them work those out themselves. I just make sure they don't trend too far from the path and cause trouble that's all."

Garn frowns and looks over at the other hare "Can't he do both? Be a fighter and keep your records? we've had recorders who where cooks and abbots and such in our time"

Furgo says, "Well, as far as recruit training, you'll have to take that outside the walls. But as far as lessons, you'll be learning math, reading, writing, gardening, healing, and cooking among other things. Now, since I've decided to enter the order as a scholar, chances are I'll only be teaching reading, writing, and math."

Jarril nods his head. "Aye, he can but we usually send up a lot of reports from patrah's, map making amongst everything else. It's a full time job really keeping up with it all. I think we're trying ta get another good library sorted out just as it is here but available on another part of the country. Best ta have two well libraries of information in case something happens to the other." He pauses for a moment. "Though he probably end up on some patrah's yes, but not all of them."

Garn smiles and winks "Don't let him slip away then if he's gonna make a fine addition to either job, best make sure we don't lure him into staying here after alls said and done, this is a fine place to live matey"

Quinten groans "Oh not maths...i'm no good at numbers, writing, now tha i can do my friend" he sits down and waves a paw "I'm quite good at it"

Jarril nods his head. "Aye, I can't argue with ya on that one. It's one of my possible retirement plans for when my time is over at the mountain, though who knows if I choose ta stay there or come here. Living by the sea does have it's charms, wot."

Furgo says, " Well, I'm sorry about that, but I can't change it."

Quinten sighs "I have not seen the sea since the last Hullabaloo four summers back...maybe sister Sunrose will let me go to the Hullabaloo this year"

Garn sighs "I have not seen the sea since the last Hullabaloo four summers back...maybe sister Sunrose will let me go to the Hullabaloo this year"

Quinten flicks his ears "Ahhh i'll do me best ye can count on that at least"

Furgo smiles broadly. "I'm sure you will."

Jarril smiles at Garn. "Well, the area is safe for now at least, no more vermin in the area. Still risky around there but it's not as bad as it used ta be. I'd say ask and go, probably do ya the world of good being with ya own kind."

Garn smiles sadly "You'd think that wouldn't you, when i got here last autumn i attacked every otter in sight...i was mad with hatred for them...i still find it hard to be around too many otters"

Quinten grins "So when do me lessons start? need to get back into routine"

Furgo says, "Well, I need to get adjusted too, so, I'll start up with my official duties sometime this week, once I get settled in with the routine of being a brother."

Jarril hmms. "I see." The hare gives a stroke of his whiskers in thought before replying back. "Then why not go to our mountain, just hares there and ya be close ta the sea as anything ya like, wot. Even that may do ya some good in getting some fresh sea air in ya lungs."

Garn smiles and closes his eyes swaying from side to side gently "Hmmmm the sea...reminds me of the other day at the river.....i...was doing something.."

Quinten nods "I hope to get a proper schedule soon, tis hellish not having a proper schedule"

Furgo smiles. "Well, there are schedules tacked up in the novice dormitories."

Jarril blinks and coughs. "Hmmm, Garn, ya alright?"

Garn giggles somewhat and whacks his rudder down "I...was at the altar....i think...yes i'd gone to the altar"

Quinten nods "I saw them but i got to factor in me recruit training as well"

Furgo nods as well.

Jarril just looks at Garn puzzled.

Garn shudders and staggers so he can lean against the wall breathing deeply "Remus.." he mumbles and then blinks looking puzzled "Wot.."

Furgo looks curiously at Garn.

Jarril doesn't answer at first as the hare gathers his thoughts. "Ya zoned out for a moment there, something about a stream and a altar and who's Remus?"

Garn jumps at the name and barks "How....how do you know that name...no ones meant to know that name....i..i was at the river...and and...there was an otter..." he stares abotu him worriedly and starts to chew on a paw "Its happening again"

Quinten looks across at the otter then glances at furgo "Is he ok?"

Furgo says, "I'm not sure." He calls over to Garn. "Garn? Are you all right?"

Jarril blinks but gives Garn a pat on the shoulder. "It's okay, it just be between you

and me, not everyone knows." The hare hoping to calm down the otter at least.

Garn whimpers and runs to Furgo's side "no...its happening agian....i'm rememebering things i didn't do...i couldn't have done them i've been here in the abbey right? right?"

Quinten looks at the major and flicks his ears "Ere sah have a seat an i'll get you something to wet your muzzle with"

Furgo says, "Yes, you've been here in the abbey."

Garn shudders and flops into a chair "Good...good cause...i never...would have done that...ok....never" he stares at the recruit and nods "Sure...novice...i need a drink please"

Jarril gives a questionable look on his face before he loses it with Quinten's question and nods his head. "Aye, thanks Quinten." He moves and settles down into a chair.

Somewhere on the muck, Inwa has disconnected.

Furgo heads over towards the Stairs..

Garn looks at Jarril "I'm sorry...that happens sometimes...i start remembering things i don't think i've done...like just now i remember crushing the voicebox out of an otter...in the Moss....it seeemed to vivid"

Quinten pads off towards the stairs to get the otter something to drink

Jarril nods his head. "I see."

Garn shivers and hugs himself "Sorry you must think really badly of me now...."

Jarril shakes his head. "No, no not at all."

Quinten pads back in and sets a tray down there is a tea pot on it and several cups, he pours the otter a cup of the tea and a strong herbal scent fills our noses "Here the cook said this was what you should be drinking."

Garn smiles "Ok.....you..you don't think it could have been me do you?"

Jarril blinks and looks at the tea, first time for everything. Lifting up a cup, the major takes a sip of the hot liquid. "Hmm, something ta get used ta around here." The hare mumbles quietly.

Garn sniffs at the tea and seems to visibly relax sipping at it and sighing "I need to drink more of this stuff....it helps me think clearly"

Quinten looks at the tall otter and shakes his head, its a shame realy, he wonders what happened to him to drive him mad like this

Jarril keeps quiet and to his thoughts while drinking his tea, the hare looking about the room before replying. "Aye if it helps with that ya should."

Garn closes his eyes and leans back, just drinking the tea nad trying to forget about those disturbing images

Quinten shrugs and stands up again "Well if you'll excuse me Major...i should probably be doing some chores or other"

Quinten salutes the Major as he leaves and tucks a blanket about the sleeping otter and moves back to the fire and his sewing equipment he really needs to do these sleves

Sikara room-pages, "Hello.".

Quinten salutes the Major as he leaves and tucks a blanket about the sleeping otter and moves back to the fire and his sewing equipment he really needs to do these sleves

Flaxpaw wanders in from the kitchens, totally missing the major's exit, and everything else in the room, munching thoughtfully on a carrot as she crosses the hall.

Quinten catches sight of Flax and waves a paw "Hey flax lok we finally found me a habbit that sort of fits"

Flaxpaw looks up at Quinten's greeting, and swerves over to join him, nose wrinkled. "Yeah, Harper showed me those /things/ last night. Can't see wearin one, but I guess we have to."

Quinten nods "Aye i had the same conversation with the Major just now about them, but he told me to respect the abbey's dress code to here i am, got to meet Sister Sunrose as well"

Flaxpaw's ears perk for a moment at the mention of the major, then she droops and sighs. "Well, if majah says so, guess I really will have to wear one."

Quinten nods "Aye we gotta wear em Flax...and good news...Gabby hasn't dumped me "

Flaxpaw nods, and peers at Quinten. "Hasn't left you? what? was she goin to?"

Quinten nods "Aye...she threatened to after we got drunk....i got one more chance to prove myself to her"

Flaxpaw flops down next to Quint. "We really messed up. I didn't realise how bad it would be.... now were on last chances with the patrol, least I am, an things with you an Gabby..." sigh.

Quinten pats your arm "Its ok Flax we're safe in the abbey and the major says we both did good on the way here...really we did"

The door to the library opens a crack, and Dandelion peers out. Seeing only fellow recruits active outside, he sneaks out, carefully shutting the door behind him.

Flaxpaw shakes her head. "I suppose." She smiles at Quint. "An, yeah, we are safe here. Majah's somehow nearer here, an there's mister Slain, an Darkmane. Even Marsuvees...." She looks a little worried when she mentions Mars, may be about to say more, but then she notices the library door opening, and turns to look, smiling at Dandelion when she catches sight of him.

Quinten waves at Dandelion his long sleeves flapping "hey Dande come an join us, ye got yerself one opfthese yet?" he gestures at the habbit he's wearing "bit breezey for my liking" he looks back at Flax "Oh aye he was watchig us the whole way here said we did good"

Dandelion walks over to the others. "One of those? Oh, I'm keeping these, you know..." he says, pointing at his uniform. "Not staying, didn't I say?"

Quinten rolls his eyes "Duh of course ye told me that already, sorry Dande, still ye should try one at least"

Flaxpaw snorts, and looks again at the habit. "Camn't train in that thing, you know.....but, guess i'd best see about one too."

Dandelion shakes his head. "I dunno, doesn' seem right to wear one if I'm not supposed to, y'know..."

Quinten nods his head "If you feel so Dande, still i'll miss ye when your gone from us"

Dandelion nods. "Yea... but it's not gonna be forever, eh?"

You say, "Aye just a season or two, you'll be a proper private before we get back though""

Dandelion chuckles, rolls his eyes. "If I make the exams, that is." he says, stressing the "if".

Quinten grins "Ahhh you'll do it Dande, you'll see, you just see to it that our Colonel gets home safely

Dandelion nods. "Speaking of which... I haven't seen much of her lately..."

Quinten nods to dande "She was here earlier but she got called off to deal with some things"

Dandelion pulls up a chair to sit down. "Aah." he says, and then is quiet for a while, looking around in the hall, at the tapestry and stained glass windows in particular.

Quinten has gone back to fiddling with his sleeves, trying to sew the cuffs back out of the way

Dandelion sighs softly, looking up at the ceiling. "Can't believe you're all going to stay here for so long..." he says, mostly to himself.

Quinten hmms and raises his head "Oh well i am sure the time will just fly on by Dande"

Flaxpaw finally breaks her silence, an looks between you before replying, also in a quiet sort of mood. "fly by? I doubt it. I miss Sala an all the others who haven't come along already...."

Dandelion shrugs. "I suppose once we get stuck in and get busy, it'll get easier... I mean, I missed mum when I first came to Sala..."

Quinten nods his head "Aye i miss home too Flax but i like it here too...oh" he lowers his head nad nods to the slumbering 7 foot otter in the armchair by the fire "Standing order apparently is to not let the big lunk of an otter leave the abbey" he taps his head "he's not all here upstairs"

Dandelion glances at the otter. "What? How do you mean?"

Flaxpaw also looks over at the otter.

Trillium arrives from the direction of the stairwell, carrying a lump of fabric and some sowing materials. It's obviously meant to be her novice habit, but it would seem that, like Quin's, hers is in need of some altering. The mousemaid nods politely to all gathered and tiptoes around the sleeping otter, finding herself a place to sit and laying out her new clothing.

Quinten smiles at Trillium and waves a paw then turns back to Dande "I don't understand the reason why but we were told to make sure to stop him if we see him trying to leave through any of the wall gates. He's here as a patient and not meant to leave"

Dandelion gives the otter another suspicious glance. "Oh... Very well, then..." He turns to Trillium, smiling a little. "Hello there, miss." he says, saluting politely.

Quinten shrugs and leans back in his chair "Ok Dande well this is Miss Trillium she just joined the abbey today"

Trillium smiles warmly in Dandelion's direction. "Well met, sir..and hello again, Quinten! It's good to see you. I just got my habit. What d'you think?" She holds it up for inspection. Truth be told, it's in better shape than the hare's. The sleeves need little mending, but it's quite plain it was made for someone with a fair bit more girth around the middle than the little mouse. She grins over the top, winking rogueishly. "Think I could fill it out, or should I try and mend it down?"

Quinten laughs "Give it a month or two Trillium and you'll have filled it out, the wayt these abbey beasts feed us" he laughs and stands up to show off his own habbit, its been adjusted somehwat, just the sleeves are too long now

"Pleased ta meet you, miss Trillium." Dandelion says, still smiling, although he looks a bit more shy and reserved all of a sudden.

Trillium flutters her lashes just for Dandelion's benefit, giggling at Quinten's comment. "Oh, I should certainly hope not...it's so much harder to take something out than to take it in!" She settles down again in her chair, beginning her steady work on the habit.

Quinten stretches and nods "Hmmm yes...but i should go get in some boxing practice"

In a room page-pose, Trillium eeps and has to run down to the store with mom. Be back in a few minutes guys, she's just doing her mending.

Dandelion perks up a little. "Perhaps I ought to spar some with you." he says. "It might be a while before I have another chance..." His voice breaks off after the last comment, and his smile fades away. "Ugh..."

Quinten laughs and winks at Dande "Come on now your not going to get any better unless you practice, i won't even lay a paw on you juust help you practice movements"

Trillium has left.

Dandelion smiles a little. "Oh, it's not that... It's just that it sounded so ominous..."

Dandelion shakes off the feeling, and puts on a smile again. "I'll go finish chores, and you finish that sewing, allright? Meet you out by the pond later." he says, waving, and heading off for the stairs.

Quinten sits back down to carry on amending the length of his habit sleeves.

End Log -
