Poor Dummy...

From Redwall MUCK Wiki

Includes:Gregorian Soutrac Quentin Tavy Ava

A simple gathering of hares and a badger in the training room.

It's a relatively quiet patch in the training room, mostly because the beginning of lunch is just around the corner. Greg knows better than to be crushed in the crowd at the start of a meal anyway and has planted himself in the training room, hitting one of the punching bags that hang from the ceiling. He's not exactly trying his hardest, the thing's still intact for a start. He's only just warming up and making the thing swing around.
Heading into the training room is Ava, dressed in a grubby pair of pants and a workout shirt that she doesn't mind getting stains or sweat on. "Hey Greg." She tips a smile to him as she ambles over towards the punching bags, giving her fingers a bit of a flex. "How long you been down here for?" She asks as she shifts her stance a bit, then starts to throw a few punches forward into her bag, working first with her left for a rep, before moving to the right.
Tavy still doesn't have any real outfit other than the one that adorns her. Still, for now, a guest of the mountain and awaiting her formal recruitment she's taken the oppurtunity to have a little nose around while the meal time keeps the place kind of quiet for a mountain full of hares. She steps quietly through the door and stops to take in the room. "Huh."
Gregorian has one of his old uniforms on, only differing from the usual one by a lot more sewn up patches. He pauses at mention of his name and glances on over to see Ava "Mornin' Ava. Ah, not so long, only just gettin' started today really. Got tah keep up the practice though" he'll never lose the stomach otherwise. While he's distracted from his punching bag he also spots Tavy by the door and offers a nod "Mornin'"
Nodding her head, Ava switches hands once more and starts to throw another rep of punches into the bags, followed by a strong kick now and then. "Looks like you've lost some weight since coming back here." She says as she tilts an ear in his direction. "You got a bit more of a spring in yah' step." When he calls out to the other, he glances over towards Tav, lifting a hand as she gives pause in her work out. "Morning."
Tavy quickly returns Gregorian's nod with a slight widening of her eyes at being spotted. "Mornin'" She echoes with an apprehensive smile and an accompanying wave to match Ava's.
Gregorian steady his punching bag with a paw, apparently paused for a break already as he's picked up on Tavy's apprehension. He shrugs to Ava's comment first though "The abbey always did have more food than trainin' equipment, it tends tah happen" he's not about to let on that he's actually trying. Back to Tavy again "Don't believe I've seen yah around before?"
"Indeed it did." Ava says as she throws out a few more combinations into the bag before turning herself around to face Tavy. Her eyes squint at her, not recognizing the face. Crossing her arms over her chest, she shifts her weight to one hip and waits for her to answer Greg.
After days or rather weeks of being bedridden from a what he will surely say was a minor injury Soutrac has risen completely healed from the cot in the Infirmary. After sitting around in a room with a few healers who had little to nothing to talk about with a warrior he felt making his way to the Training Room he had heard somebeast speaking of to be a good idea. He slowly lumbers through the entrance and takes a step in. He immediately notices the collection of hares already there. Hopefully they have something a warrior might find interesting...
Tavy lifts her ears upon catching a discussion involving Redwall Abbey and food too. She seems a little surprised to recieve a further address from Gregorian and nods an affirmative. "Yah'd believe right, sah. Not even a Recruit quite yet." She's not aware of Soutrac yet; her back to him.
Gregorian raises his eyebrows at Tavy "Ahh, welcome then. Don't let me stop yah if yah wanted tah do some trainin' while yah here" his attention a second later is taken up by the rather large badger and his eyes narrow a touch, cautious but polite as he nods a greeting "Mornin' Sah"
"Oh, are you planning on being a recruit?" Ava asks as she wipes her brow with the back of one hand, then shifts her shoulders back to pop her joints. "My name is Avalon Firedale, one of the Healers here and assigned to Tyree's unit." She says with a grin. "This big handsome lug with one leg is Greg', who works in the Forge." Tilting her head to the badger, she lifts a hand to wave at him.
Slowly the badger takes in the entire room in a simple flick of his eyes. He waves kindly back to the young doe and responds to the buck's greeting in equal formality,"Good evenin' to you also sah.". Soutrac hasn't had much conversation with anyone in a few days so he fears he might be rusty in social skills.
Tavy grins. "Thankyah sah; I may just take up ya offer." She nods and then looks to Ava. "Nice to meet yah both; yes, I, uh, am rather hopeful to become a recruit. Jus' waitin' on the decision." She then quickly sidesteps as they greet someone else. Her eyes widen as she sees the badger. "Huh."
Gregorian has heard rumours of a badger in the mountain but it's not the first time and he's disinclined to get enthusiastic about it this time. The formality remains though "Anything I can do for yah Sah?" another nod is sent to Tavy too "Always keen for new recruits, I doubt it'll be long"
Soutrac notices a large and rather dusty training stand in the far back of the room. Slowly he walks up to it and looks it over. After a moment or so he turns his attention to the buck's question,"Have you seen my axe?". After he awoke in the infirmary he had asked about his axe, but had little time to look for it.
Tavy takes a step back as she keeps her eyes on the moving bulk of badger. "...Hope so. Yes. Thankyah, sah." She replies to Gregorian then raising her brows as the badger requests his axe. "Uh. Do you need it, sah?" .
Gregorian mentally notes the specs, all standard so far so he questions a few himself "Double headed or single? Spike on top? Yah want the blade or blades straight, curved or rounded? I assume two paws for the handle but do yah want a paw grip on it too or plain wood? And specific materials too or shall I just decide on wot's best?"
Soutrac thinks for a moment,"Double headed like the original. No grip to tacky. Curved if you would please. Whatever makes it stay together longest."
Quinten says, "Well Tavy welcome to the mountain, I hope you get sworn on into the patrol soon. I just stopped by to say hey to everyone." he raises a paw to Greg and Soutrac, "I syould get back to work.""
Tavy grins and nods her thanks. "It was bally nice to meet yah, sah. I hope so too."
Gregorian nods slowly to the badger, more mental noting before he focuses on the other hares again for a moment "See yah around Quint. Don't work too hard"
Quinten says, "Same to you Greg." he grins at the hare then nods to everyone and ducks back out heading back to his library."
Soutrac swings his arm at the large badger sized training dummy and breaks it in half on accident....
Tavy smirks at the banter between the two and then her eyes widen as the badger destroys something. "Oh my. Yah killed it, sah."
Gregorian watches the dummy crumble without much of a concern. Poor thing has been patched up so many times it was probably on it's last legs anyway "I'll add makin' anothah practice dummy tah the tah do list as well" he glances back to Tavy "Not tah worry, happens all the time...usually with the use of weapons but still"
Tavy turns her slightly stunned face to Gregorian, nods a little, then turns back. "All he did was bally wave though..."
Soutrac sits down and stares at the dummy,"Oops."
Gregorian takes more to stun, he's seen badgers before and breaks stuff himself. Of course he has to actually be trying. He has muscles but he's not gigantic "So try not tah wave when yah greet him, eh? Encouragin' trouble" Greg smirks at Tavy and limps on over to the dummy to pick up one of the larger bits "Well lets see if...Hm, alright so yah broke one of the bits we hadn't broken yet. Sorry my dear dummy friend, yah goin' tah be firewood"
Tavy says, "Hah. I'll try not to." She smirks. "At least I'll try to remembah not to. Did not actually know that there was a great honkin' bajah wandering the mountain anymore, sah. Caught me by surprise."
Gregorian watches the badger leave again before hauling up the rest of the broken dummy and taking it to dump just inside the armoury, out the way "New arrival. Yah get the odd badgah through from time tah time. Fourth one I've seen in my time here. Usually it comes tah nothin' though"
