Halyard tavern

Mice: Leon, male. DoraRose, female.

Hares: Feanor, male. Felicity, female.

Leon is in the tavern today, the first time he has gotten a chance to look around the village since he has been in the area, least a good visit and not some real quick visit like a couple weeks ago

Feanor is in the tavern, in his uniform but unarmed. He's off duty again and he decided to take some time to visit Halyard, since he hasn't been in a while. He's sipping just water--he'd rather not get drunk in front of everybeast--and waiting for some food to arrive; a delicious smell comes from the kitchen.

Felicity has decided that, since she's off duty, she should escort DoraRose to Halyard. They enter the building, both armed, but in casual clothes. Dora spots her husband and walks over to him, smiling. Most of the verminish beasts make sure to get out of the way of her and her (huge) axe. Lissie spots the male hare, but avoids him, instead following the Warrior mouse.

Leon smiles when he sees Dorarose "Hello dear, thought be nice to get a good look at the village today and today seemed better than most days"

Feanor glances up at the axe, whistling quietly. Now that's a weapon. Just then, a waiter arrives with a tray stacked with fish and chips, and more water. He chows down with considerable grace--for a hare. At least he's not chewing with his mouth open...or making loud noises.

Felicity glances at the other hare, then ignores him as she sits down beside Dora, who is holding her axe like it's an extension of her arm. "I think it's a great idea, love." she scoots her seat closer to the table. "Do you think they accept Mossflower coins here?" "Oh, don't bothah, I'll pay," the haremaid quickly says casually. As a waiter comes over, Lissie orders some stew and fish-and-chips and a sandwich. Oh, and hot tea with honey. And a pie. The Warrior mouse just shakes her head and orders a cooked fish. "What are you gonna get, honey? I was gonna order a pitcher of water."

Leon smiles "Just some veggie soup is fine and maybe some cider, not too hungry really. The village is not very large it seems"

Feanor looks annoyed at Felicity briefly. They really need to resolve this grudge of theirs...but pride won't let him apologize. Not without a drastic change in their current situation--what sort of change, he doesn't know. He continues to gobble down his food, stopping every so often to wipe his lips on a cloth napkin.

When the food comes, Lissie pays, then digs into her food as if there was no tomorrow!!! But she does it with excellent table manners, just to try and shame the other hare. He may or may not notice. But it's the thought that counts, right? Right. Rose pours some cider for herself and her husband, then calmly starts eating her fish. "Yeah, Ferravale seems bigger. But maybe we're just used to all the hustle and bustle of Salamandastron, so Halyard just looks small. I don't actually know."

Leon shrugs "I am unsure either. Some of the hares are here sometimes as well I know. I did get a look at the village once...well sort of a look" He frowns "Let's not worry on that, this is a much better way to see the village anyways"

Feanor notices, all right. He definitely notices. He immediately slows down his pace, chewing his food more thoroughly. Chasing his last few bites with a gulp of water, he glances furtively to his sort-of opponent to see if she notices.

Felicity notices, and she knows that he noticed. She has slown down, but her manners have just gotten even better; she's not taking drinks of her tea with a full mouth anymore. These 2 hares really need to grow up, it looks like. Dora goes to rest her paw on her husband's arm. Putting her fork down, she stares at him intently. "Okay. What happened? Please tell me; I'm going to worry until you do."

Feanor slows down even more, taking fresh bites only once every twenty seconds or so, frequently cleaning his face with the napkin now. He glowers briefly at Felicity as the smell of the food tempts him. Who's gonna break first and just start feasting?

Leon frowns "It's nothing to worry on dear. It was around the time we first got here is all" He goes to take a long drink of cider and looks at the hares, hares are always interesting and usually eat fast and eat a lot and now they are slowing down. He eats his soup slowly and just sort of is quite.

He's not getting away with it that easily! DoraRose goes to hold his paw still. "Then you should have no problems with telling me. Please tell me. Please?" Lissie is feeling the urging of her hyperactive hare's stomach and the scent of the delicious food tempting her to hurry and eat fast fast fast, but her stubbornness and dislike of this person is winning out. She refuses to give up! She WILL win! She will!! She promises herself this. Even though the pie is LITERALLY calling her name. No, really. It is. Well, okay, maybe just in her mind.

Leon sighs, "Fine...I got a bird's eye view of the place, like for real...it was this hawk that the one ferret had, remember the creepy one or maybe you didn't see him. He worked for the wildcat that had Zinnia for a few days. Anyways I had found the direction they went and I was spotted by the hawk who grabbed me and the ferret said to-teach me to fly-and so I get taken way way up high and..." Well should he, he did survive after all... " I was dropped and caught by an eagle and the eagle is how I got to the Mt. before you did. I told Thunderwing, the eagle, to look for you. Thunderwing sort of dropped me into the arms of a hare, I even seen Lord Ciocan...before I fainted at the fact I just was....well...really...REALLY high up in the sky and survived.."

Feanor rolls his eyes when he hears Leon's story--albeit discreetly, he does NOT want to be on the receiving end of Nightsong. He goes back to the battle of wills, actually, with an effort, pushing his plate away from him, eating only small crumbs.

Oh, is that the way it's going to be? Felicity sees this, but then smiles. She actually drags her plate closer so no crumbs have even the slightest chance to fall on the table and eats carefully and slowly, savouring each bite. Oh, she is SO enjoying this. She's still eating, but doing so as if she was eating in a king's presence. Dora purses her lips, but releases her husband so he can continue eating. "I don't blame you for fainting," she says gently. "I would've seriously considered it." She starts eating her fish, then looks at the 2 hares strangely. "What is up with you 2?"

Leon blinks, well she seems to have taken that well, "So you're...not upset? I thought it would worry you alot?" He takes a bite of soup, "I mean...I hate high places ...but Thunderwing is a friend now, but it doesn't mean I plan on getting over any fears any time soon"

Feanor's ears stiffen indignantly. "'Us two'? Bloody hell, we're not here together or anything like that! She came in with you, not me!" One of his ears swivels to point at Lissy accusingly. "She started it."

"It was a few months ago, and you're safe. I just wanted to know what it was and if I needed to beat anybeast up for you," Dora murmurs, then says to the irate hare, "I didn't you 2 were together. Yeesh. I was just meaning that it looks like you 2 are having a battle of sorts." Lissie sputters and chokes. Rose ignores her and narrows her eyes at the male hare. "You look.....familiar to me. Have....have you ever been to...Mossflower? Specifically Redwall?"

A chill runs down the back of Feanor's spine. His ears wilt. Taken off guard by the sudden question, he stammers an answer instead of blowing it off. "Yeah, um, why?" He flashes back quickly. Redwall. The height of Vladmir Stormfeather's campaign of terror. When he was the last sane survivor of his platoon...

Leon glances over at the hares and gets a better look, and the fact he sort of remembers the voice. Yes the hare looks older now as he speaks " He has been to Redwall yes, wen I was a novice healer...he was in the infirm"

Felicity uses the other hare's distraction to continue eating, her ears tuned forward to catch every single word that is said. Rose narrows her eyes, then runs the faint scars on the side of her head. "I....can't quite remember.....I vaguely remember something about....Stormfeather....it's gone." She looks so sad as the memory slips out of her grasp. "Maybe tomorrow morning I'll remember better....my memory works better right after I get up," she mutters the last few comments to her husband.

Feanor growls, regaining his previous bluster. "Yeah, so all my friends died to a bunch of filthy lizards and the only one that didn't went bonkers and left. What's it to ya?" He's flying rapidly into a rage--not at what is, but at what was.

Leon sighs, he then frowns and looks at the hare as he clears his throat "Calm down, that's no way for any LP hare to act I wouldn't think "

Leon says, "And I...remember Kiara, she was..." He frowns, he remembered her in the cell, very briefly in the cell with him, Oz and Blisa that time...seasons now.

Felicity ducks as Dora's paw shoots out to point at the angered hare, his words triggering her memory. "You! You were in the Long Patrol troup that.....I am so sorry." She looks genuinely heartbroken. "I am so sorry. My name is DoraRose Strongheart. My brother killed Stormfeather in the battle we fought against him. I'm sorry for making you remember that time...."

Feanor slows down now, seeing that somebeast is genuinely pitying him for once. "'s' nothin', just don' do it again," he mumbles, his wrath flickering and dying like an ember out of the fire. He does have a parting shot for Leon, however. "How would you know, you're a mouse," he quips.

Leon frowns "She...was in the cell with me and two others, but not for very long. Vladmir did not plan on grabbed a novice at the time, he planed on grabbed our abbot...but I pushed him out of the way and got grabbed by the raven instead. The abbot was Lorimis at the time." He frowns as memories come back to him too" I knew healing then...much more now and barely knew enough to save a badger friend of mine, I...I got lucky I guess..."

Feanor's taste for food, and for the little war of appetites he and Felicity are waging, has vanished. He pushes his scrap-littered plate aside, chucks a few coins to the beast who served him, and skulks out, looking miserable.

Leon sighs and stands up, he looks at Dorarose and the others. He watches the hare walk out and looks ready to go off somewhere as well, but instead he just lays his paws on the table and his face down on his paws and suddenly looks very tried and maybe on the verge of crying soon.

Felicity quietly asks the waiter for to-go boxes so they can take their food back home with them. Dora looks about ready to cry, partly from the sadness and mourning she feels from having lost so many people she cares about, and partly from frustration at her lack of complete memory. "Let's....let's go back....back to the....to Salamandastron...." Lissie is the only one of the 4 who doesn't look miserable, but she looks sad for them. Well. What a way to end the day, huh?

I have no idea if to-go boxes even existed then. I don't think they did. But this is fantasy and people have, like, ice packs and clipboards here, so whatever. Thanks for reading!
