Not The Best Morning 1

From Redwall MUCK Wiki

FV:Tavern

Outside a sign swings on a rusty creaking frame above the doorway of the tavern depicting a faded painting of what appears to be three rather rich looking skeletons slumped over a table around a black chalice, perhaps such a thing could be taken as a warning but it doesn't appear to work on the locals. The noise within on a normal day is usually heard before the door is even opened and only rises in volume when one actually steps inside.

There are the typical qualities of a tavern within, from the bar to the chairs and booths and the odd drunk who never seems to move it's the little details which encourage a patron to pay his tab if he likes his fingers. One look at some of the staff or customers might give the impression but the room is decorated to the fiercer tastes with bones, mostly skulls cropping up here and there to fill a gap on a shelf or decorating the walls above the doorways, fireplace and bar, a pair of axes joining the one over the fire with some signs that they've been yanked off to join in a fight a couple of times. Some of the comfier chairs are lined with fur and very rarely one might be found with a few pointed bits of bone to decorate the back. Despite the looks there is entertainment and fun to be had, some form of music usually played on a small stage in the corner and at least one bouncer usually tries to keep the peace while beasts gamble, drink and be merry.

A small door behind the bar leads out the back to the kitchen and cellars while one wall has been opened up in a wide arch to increase the space off into the next room where what seems to be a wooden fence with gates on either end has been set up as a fighting pit as further entertainment and something to bet over.

With:

Scioto is sitting in his chair; someone has given him some oatmeal and a glass of water.

Raymond walks into the tavern and sits down; he gets some water and some oatmeal as he begins to start his day.

Scioto looks up at Raymond and gives a simple nod "I need to, speak with you Raymond, so don’t leave yet."

Raymond blinks "Yes sir what is it?"

Scioto finishes some water he has and has eaten 1/4 of his stew before pushing it aside. He stands and walks over slowly "You’re in charge of seeing what still needs repaired, making sure repairs are made and maybe get a report to Redwall, I offer help if it’s needed"

Raymond nods "Of course sir,..sir? Are you alright, do you need anything?"

Scioto shakes his head "I do not, need anything." He frowns "That you can do anyway for me just make sure all goes ok in the village and repairs are made, that if the abbey is threated help comes to their aid I...am going to go rest"

Raymond listens and then nods, "Where will you be sir in case you’re needed?"

Scioto folds his arms over his chest, "It had....better be life or death, I will not be bothered, do I make myself clear?"

Raymond frowns at what is said, "Fine sir, unless it is very important you will not be bothered."

Scioto nods seeming to be ok with that" Good then"

Raymond sips his water, "Sir?..anything I need to know or do other than what was mentioned?"

Scioto speaks "No" he says quietly, "That’s all"

Sorrlagg pushes open the door to the tavern and makes his way in and sits down.

Scioto catches sight of the monitor and walks over, he almost trip and stands in front of him, "Speak lizard, what all do you know of this red monitor you spoke of last night?"

Raymond starts to say something more and then gets curious as to what is happening now.

Sorrlagg watches the chieftain calmly "He was not the only one who did this, the cloaked fox led the red one and his tribe here, blame the cloaked fox, not me as I said and will say again I no longer work for, nor have I even been in that stupid foul tribe for over 2 seasons now, the cloaked fox also controls the ravens and crows, and who knows what else."

Scioto glares, "How do I know you’re not lying! You could very well still be on their side."

Sorrlagg hisses lightly, "I have killed my own kind, I am on the side of Ferravale and Redwall you annoying grumpy feline, besides from what I heard it was the cloaked fox that killed your family"

Scioto growls and goes to strangle the lizard if he can get to him.

Raymond stands quickly and goes to try and get in-between them, maybe a bad plan but he is not in the mood for more injuries, "Alright Alright both calm yourself and sits down. That’s not a request"

Sorrlagg narrows his eyes and goes to sidestep the chieftain and push him against a wall, unless someone stops it from happening, no not to hurt the chieftain but to better get him to listen.

Scioto just about falls on his face when the monitor side steps and eeerks as he is pressed against the wall and stares at Sorrlagg, none too happy with him at all.

Raymond blinks, "Alright, no fighting right now or maybe go to the pit just not outside the pit"

Sorrlagg hisses low, "Do not attempt to attack me, if I was not on your side by now you be dead on the floor as I would of ripped your throat out, now listen to me" He keeps him against the wall, "I..work for you, I work for the village, I have helped you out, even saved your life once on the road, I did not led the monitors here, the cloaked fox did, he most likely is not done. weather he comes back here or goes elsewhere, I know not his plan, he doesn’t say his plans, he is smart and perhaps knows who to trust, but he also enjoys letting others know what he did and most likely will want all Mossflower to know too."

Scioto glares, he doesn’t struggle too much, he frowns at the words, "The fox had bolas too.....he slayed my family, I have no clue if my daughter lives or of anything...anymore."

Raymond stands ready to defend the chieftain if needed, he watches Sorrlagg closely, he clears his throat. "Please do release the chieftain, Your gain a lot more trust if you do."

Sorrlagg slowly let’s go of Scioto and backs up, he speaks once more " I will still stay here and help you, but you’re going to have to be ready. If your daughter was dead, you know by now, another thing of the cloaked fox, he would most likely find it funny to show you if she was dead or not and think on this would your other child or mate want you like this, I will be in my den, no one brother me....the blue eyed mouse maid may come but no one else" With that he walks off to his den, hissing slightly as he goes.

Scioto starts to sob as he is lowered and sits there by the wall. He stays silent and then slowly stands.

Raymond walks over to Scioto slowly "Are you....ok sir, hurt anywhere?"

Scioto says, "No, I am not ok"

Raymond goes to help the chieftain up and into a chair.

Scioto allows the help and sits there for a few moments and then gets up and walks out of the tavern before something else happens.
