Night Talk at the Camp

From Redwall MUCK Wiki

Characters: Robin, Aikuen, Venei, Flicktail, Kentar

Location: Camp Coranado

Robin is sitting by himself in front of the fire, on a log, reading a book. Whatever the book is, its probably unreadable to anyone else but him and Kentar. He's got a pair of reading specs on without any lenses in them, just the frames. Makes him look smarter.

And here comes some otters. Two of them. Buts it not the twins. Its just Aikuen carrying a napping Venei. Her rudder held tight against his arm. She does not want to leave him right now. Aik comes to sit at his spot by the fire, "Hey Robby." he whispers. He nods at the book. But the specs kinda confuse him.

Robin hums and looks up, smiling as he waves at the wake, and napping beasts. "Hey." he whispers back with a nod, putting a mark in his book before taking off the specs, nearly poking his eye in the process. "How are you?" he asks.

Aikuen watches him, "Im doing quite well, thanks. Just a little more fun and excitement, than this little otter can handle... And you?" he asks, "Ands what's with the glasses? I didn't know you needed them."

Robin hums a bit and chuckles, shaking his head. "I don't." he nods, poking through where the lenses should be. "They're fake. They just make me look smart." he smiles. "And me? Not much really, just reading."

Aikuen blinks and rubs at his eyes. He couldn't see that part, "Oh. Wow. Well. I guess they do." he shrugs, "I never knew a beast who wore glasses cause they wanted too." he chuckles, "...Ah. What yah reading?" he asks. As he starts to bounce his daughter.

Robin chuckles and puts them away. 'They do. And the best part is, they don't need cleaning." he laughs with a smile then hums. "Me? OH." he looks to the book. "Its just an old story from my village." he nods.

"They just look funny on you. That's all. But that's because i known yah for too long." Aikuen chuckles quietly, "Ah. I see. So i'm guessing i wont be able to read it?" he smirks, "Not like i wanted too anyway. I like storytelling more. Mostly cause i can 'read' it better."

Robin hums a bit and then thinks for a few moments. "Just don't ask me to read it to you." he laughs as he puts the book away with a smile. "So Aik. What tired Venei out so much?" he asks.

Aikuen pulls at his chin, "...Do i want to know why, you cant read it to me?" is it that bad? "Oh... My little rudderkin was just enjoying the water to much. And she was on the shore. When she just plopped on the ground. I picked her up. She locked onto mny arm. And here i am!" he laughs.

Robin hums. "I didn't say I can't read it to you."he nods. "I just don't want to." the stoat laughs, thinking for a few moments. "Oh, really? Again?" he chuckles. "Seems like dad picked a good spot for this camping trip.

Aikuen ohs and chuckles, "Alright then Robby..." he bounces his daughter a bit more, " Oh aye. They spend most of their time in the water now. And cant even tell when they are tired to tell us" he laughs quietly, "Oh he did. Kudos to your dad. He sure can pick them. Next place needs water too!" more laughing.

Flicktail wlks up setting up a sort of swing target that rotates when hit so he can practice on it with his sword, the thing looks liek a crude representation of a fox

The stoat laughs and shakes his head. "Heheh, nah. I don't like the water. Dad said I could pick next." He sticks his tongue out and laughs, smiling. "Don't worry Aik, there'll be water for you." Robin smiles.

Aikuen eyes him, "You hate water? SAY WHA! Oh no!... There better be water. Or else me and 3 very angry otters will have to talk to you..." he grins before Flicky catches his eye, "Hey Flickster" he whispers. For his sleeping daughters sake.

Flicktail blink blinks, he didn't notice sleeping dibbuns, he can't go clanking with a sword if dibbins be sleepin "ello" he says back quietly

Robin chuckles a little bit and hums. "Oh, no! Please don't! Okay, there will be water, I promise, I promise!" he chuckles quietly, nodding as he sits forward, on the ground and then leans back against the log.

Aikuen grins evilly, "There be better be. For your sake!" he chuckles. He rubs Venei behind the ears, "Hey. What yah been up to Mr. Fox." he asks.

Flicktail says, "oh oi were just gonna practice wi e sword, oi doesn't loikes ta use it but..well beasts look ta me ta protek em sometimes"

The stoat smirks and folds his arms. "There will be! Maybe we'll go west and camp along the beach!" he chuckles a little bit. Robin hums a bit.

Aikuen oos, "The beach? Really? Awesome. It will be good for the little ones to see the beach. Swim in salt water like their cousins, the sea otters." he laughs, "Well Flicky. As long as im around. Were in good shape for protection!" he grins again.

Flicktail says, "Oh oi worra about ye Aiky...you were real upset that day at Moledeep"

Robin chuckles a little. "Yeah. I think it would be cool too. You know, provided they don't get swept out to sea by the current." he nods. "They've never swam in real moving waters before. Just little ponds and stuff unless you went to the beach without telling me." he smirks.

Aikuen frowns deeply at the fox, "THAT was because my family was being hunted. I'm nor worried about protecting myself... Ever. What if you found it if Fae was being hunted. But not you..." He hrms before looking to Robin, "We will be there. So will keep an eye out for them. There not so young anymore" he nods.

Robin chuckles. "Would you be there to keep an eye out for Chris and me?" he asks. "We've never swam in strong waters either." he laughs.

Flicktail says, "Oi just want ye ta be appy is all"

Aikuen sighs and nods, "Its hard to be happy. When i leave my safe home. To find beasts hunting me and my family..." he sighs again. Before smiling, "Sure thing Robin. Ill make sure to watch the 5 of you..." he blinks, "I mean 4... Aye 4" he chuckles weakly.

Robin hums. "What do you mean four?" He asks. "There's Kluna too you know." he then hums. "Well, I don't think he'd want to go swimming." he shrugs.

Aikuen smiles. Glad that he didn't ask to many questions, "Well. I really never worried about Kluna. As he was a pirate at one time. Im sure he has swam in deep water currents." he chuckles, "I dont think so either. But he probaly be happy with just drawing the dern ocean!"

Flicktail listens to the conversation "ow long you beasts gonna camp?

Robin chuckles a little bit then hums. "Probably.' he hums then thinks for a moment. "Where is Kluna anyways?" he asks, looking around for a few moments. "I haven't really seen him since we got here. Maybe he's off drawing some trees."

Aikuen hrms and points around the tree tops, "Somewhere up there. He always comes down at night. I never worry about it. He is just antisocial it seems." he look's to flicky at the question, "Oh... Well we got a few more days here. Then back home. Boat trip. Then the next camping trip. Got a lot planned dont we?" he laughs.

Flicktail chuckles "Thats why oi loves ye Aik

"Seems that way doesn't it." Robin frowns a little, looking to the trees. "That's too bad really. I like him." he nods. "Very talented. Maybe we should come up with a plan to make him more social." he chuckles a little bit.

Aikuen laughs louder than he should at Robin, "Like how? Tie him to the chairs? Well. If you do ever come up something that works. Count me in!" he grins at Flciky, "Thanks Flicky!" Venei hrms in her sleep. And just tightens her rudder on his arm.

Flicktail goes to sit down on the river's edge, dangling his footpaws in the water and looking Robin over

Robin hums and nods a bit. "Yeah. I will." he thinks for a few moments. "Wonder why he's antisocial in the first place." he hums.

Flicktail says, "who be ye talin about, oi think me big ears missed somein"

Aikuen shrugs, "I have no idea... I guess his childhood at a less then good upbringing." he nods a bit before looking to Flciky, "Oh. Kluna. A weasel that Kentar picked up awhile ago. Great painter. But stays away from everyone if he can help it." he nods, sadly.

Flicktail says, "weasel ya say.... hmmm good thing the GOUSIM understand there be good beasts ere"

Robin nods. "Yeah. I guess so." he hums a little bit. "But still. You would have thought that he'd have been social once dad rescued him." he thinks then shrugs.

Aikuen shrugs at Robin, "I have no idea what to tell... You could... You could try asking him." he shrugs again, "...Or not. That might be a bad idea." he looks to Flciky and scoffs, "They better. Or else they are gonna have to one VERY angry otter..." he grins, "And me" more silent laughing.

Flicktail says, "oh oi wouldn't wontsa a Angry otters"

The stoat nods a little bit and hums. "Actually, I think that's a good idea." he nods. "Asking him. Just. Not so direct." he laughs a little bit.

Aikuen shakes his head, "Two angry otters. Will not a be a good thing. For anyone..." he hrms. Before returning to Robin, "Well. If you want to" he waves a paw in the air, "Be my guest. Tell me out it turns out."

Robin laughs and nods. "I will." he stands up and hums a little bit, sitting back on the comfortable log.

Flicktail strecthes "well oi gotta go meet with e Lugalug about e handfasting..see ye beastslater

Flicktail Heads off into Mossflower in search of the Log-alog

Aikuen watches him move around, "...Okay. But dont try to make him mad i guess." he laughs as Flicky leaves, "See yah. We will still probably be up here then." he grins, "Comfortable eh?" at the stoat.

The stoat smirks a little. "I never try to make him mad. You know, on the rare times I see him." he hehs a little bit but then nods. "I'll try not." then he chuckles and nods again. "Yeah."

Aikuen winks, "Would not be a good thing. Aye." he nuzzle his daughter, "...You do that then..." he looks around a bit, "So? You seen Kentar arounds here?"

Robin smiles and then hums. "Dad? Yeah. He's in his tent." he points towards it. "I think he might have just finished telling mum about how his middle name is Cruz, and not his last." he chuckles. "Why? Did you want him?"

Aikuen chuckles, "Oh. I wanted to see that." he then nods, "Well... Aye. As he is my best friend. I wanted him the first to know..."

The stoat chuckles a bit and smiles then hums a little bit, tilting his head. "Know what?" he asks, then shrugs. "Well, if you want...him...to be the first and me the second, I guess I could get him." he chuckles.

Aikuen looks off toward the tent and hrms, "I really should tell him first." he nods, "Aye. Go get him. Then i will tell both of yah at the same time."

The stoat hums a bit and nods, standing up and going over to his dad's tent, knocking on the flap. "Dad, Aik wants you." he says. "Coming!" and out pops a stoat. Kentar stands and heads over to where Robin was sitting and unknowingly takes his seat, forcing Robin to sit next to him. "What's up, Aik?" he asks.

Aikuen smirks at what goes on, "Heh. You took your sons spot. By the way." he smirks, "Kentar. I have something to tell you. Thought you should be the first to know. And Robin as well, too."

Kentar tilts his head and hums. "OH! Sorry Robin." he nods but only gets a shrug back. "Anyways. What is it Aik? What's wrong?"

Aikuen chuckles, "Its nothing wrong, really. Its good news, i tells yah..." he grins and pats his daughter on the head, "Me and Fira... Well... We have decided to have..." he cant contain it, "...Decided to have another" he pounds his rudder on the ground with excitement.

Kentar huhs and looks to Robin, as he looks to his dad. They both wink at each other and pretend to play dumb. "Another? What? Really?" Robin asks, Kentar tilting his head. "Another? Wow. Uh..." they both hum and speak at the same time. "Another what?"

Aikuen blinks. As he really didnt think he needed to explain it. And of course being Aik. He believes that there acts are real, "Wait what? You really... Oh... Well. Me and Fira have decided to have another little otter..." he chuckles.

The two stoats burst into laughter when they realize they got them. "Haha, we got you good Aik!" Kentar laughs before smiling. "Really? Congratulations then!" he hums, a hint of jealousy in his voice. But only a small one. And none in Robin's. "Yeah, congrats Aik!"

Aikuen frowns slightly at them both. But he will beat them up later for it. He is too excited, "Yeah really! I didn't believe when she said yes the first time. I had to ask again, just to make sure... thought you should be the first to know!" he grins, "Which brings me to the next item..." he frowns slightly at that.

Kentar's smile faded at the frown. "What's the next item, Aik?" he asks, tilting his head. Robin does the same, and in fact, they look mostly the same when they have that same look on their face.

Aikuen sighs, "Well. If she said yes. I was going to go looking for a job at Camp Willow again..." he hrms and looks away from them. At his daughter.

Kentar hums a bit. "Okay. So?" he asks. "What's there to frown about? Its not that far from moledeep." he nods.

Aikuen nods, "I. I know. But... We havent decided yet. Still need to talk that part out. But. If... i die. I want my Family to move to Camp Willow..." still not looking up from his daughter.

Kentar blinks. "What? If you die?" he asks. Robin's jaw drops too and he was about to say something when Kentar whispered into his ear. The stoat stands and heads off, leaving Kentar, and the others alone. "Aik...is there something wrong?" he asks.

Aikuen watches them. But remains silent as they figure something out. Leaving just him and Kentar, "...Kentar. Im not... Dying. At least i don't think... But. Im almost 25... Thats the average mortatlatiy rate where im from... I was just mearly thinking ahead..."

Kentar hums a little bit and watches. "Alright." he then thinks. "On to my next question. Why do you want them to leave their home when you die?" He asks. "It...doesn't really make sense.

Aikuen says, "Well.. We haven't really decided it. But. With their father gone. I want my kids to have a good upbringing. And i think being around other otters will help that fact. Plus for my daughters... They. Might find a mate and be taken care of like that..."

Kentar hums and actually seems a little insulted about that. "And what? You don't think Fira, me, Will, Amy, Robin, Garnet, and Chris would do a good job of that?" he asks. "I can understand the rest of it, about being around otters, but do you really, honestly think we wouldn't take care of them?" he sounds a little ticked off about that. Probably just at the choice of words.

Aikuen is a bit taken aback at the reaction. But its understandable, "Its not that you guys cant. Its just when... When i mean taken care of. I mean. Like... Defensively. I would be more happy with them at the Camp. Then at Moledeep... An army full of otters. Verses just a few militia beasts..." he hrms, "...We haven't fully gone through it Kentar... I think Fira wants to stay at home... So. We will stay. Im still going to talk to Hallow though."

Kentar takes a deep breath and nods slowly. "Alright." he hums a little. "But you realize, Aik. If you, or any of your family move to Camp Willow, the only way any of us will see them again is if they come and visit. We can't visit them." he nods and sighs. Just the thought of that has put him in a dull mood.

Aikuen nods, "That thought has occurred to me Kentar. And you know that they will come Visit as much as they can... That's why ive been thinking of an alternative to that first plan... Still haven't come up with anything..." he hrms, "... And lets not think go the most important thing. I dont plan on dying anytime soon."

Kentar hums a little and nods. "Well." he thinks. "Why not seeing about getting an otter guard at moledeep?" he asks. "Seeing if Hallow could spare some beasts to come and do a patrol." he thinks then chuckles. "Good. You'd better not! I'd lose the one beast I love to make fun of.

Aikuen pulls at his chin fur, "...Say... That's not a bad idea..." more pulling, "...Yes. That will keep them at Moledeep... But have the protection of the Camp..." he chuckles, "...Gee. Thanks Kentar. Thank you. Thats pretty good..." he grins before shaking his head, "Stop that, you meanie!"

Kentar laughs and smiles. "I always have good ideas." he nods then hums a little. "No! Its fun!" he nods, the stoat sticking his tongue out at Aik with a laugh.

Aikuen rolls his eyes at him, "Yes you do have great ideas. Thanks..." he frowns, "...Then i wont stop making fun of you... You goose face." clever.

Kentar gasps! "Goose face? I am not! I am a weasely thing!" he nods. "There is a huge difference."

Aikuen snorts and laughs, "...Yes. Yes you are..." he smiles, "...Well. Now we know why we keep YOU around." he smiles.

Kentar chuckles and hums. "Yep. For my brilliance." the stoat says firmly before he bursts into laughter.

Aikuen laughs, "Heheheheh! Exactly... Exactly." he nods with a grin, "...Still. Thanks for the talk. I wanted you to know. AND i want to thank you for your help" he nods and starts to nuzzle his daughter. Who has begun nibbling on his tunic.

Kentar smiles a little and nods. "Well. Thank you for telling me." he nods. "I'm glad you did. And I'll help you in any way I can." he smiles softly as he yawns a moment later. "Hmm...I guess there's been more excitement then I thought!" he chuckles.

Aikuen nods, "I didnt mean for it to be. It just happens that way..." he notes the yawn, "Well. I think Venei's sleepyness has spread. You might wanna go take a nap... Ill go nap with her. Cause i dont think she will let me go..." he smiles.

Kentar hums. "I don't want a nap. You sound like my mother. And no matter what you think of my family, that's a compliment. She was the nice one." he laughs.

Aikuen shakes his head, "I didnt say anything about you're family. If you want to stay up in the awful of the night. Go right ahead. Im gonna nap though. I enjoy my naps!" he smiles.

Kentar laughs. "Of course you do." he smirks. "Old beasts always do." he nods then stands. "Well. I might as well join Garnet. I did leave our cuddle just to talk to you." he nods.

Aikuen chuckles and sticks out his tongue, "Heeheehee. Good for me then." he stands with Venei still on his arm, "You go and do... that. Im gonna go nap with Venei. Come wake me for dinner please. Wont you?"

Kentar chuckles and stands up as well. "I will!" he nods with a smile, waving as he heads back to his tent, poking his head in. "Did you miss me!?" SNORE! Seems like Garnet fell asleep. "Awww."

Aikuen lets him go first before heading into his tent. Which is empty. He lays down and curls up around his daughter. She lets go of his arm finally. Going to snuggle up against his fur. Aik smiles and rubs her head, "Hehe... Sleep well my darling... Your gonna be a good older sister..." he smiles before closing his eyes.
