Night On The Open Seas

From Redwall MUCK Wiki

The second day! Well, second night. Its dark out, and the stars are bright. Its fairly late actually, and the only beasts on deck currently is Robin and the helmsman. Rob is standing at the bow of the ship, with his lute, staring out over at the calm waters, strumming a soft, slow tune, humming quietly to himself. "Like the dark in the sky, when the dawn comes to call, its time to say goodbye again. Oh please don't you cry, I'll see you once more. But I must bid thee farewell, I will return again, when the cold is gone." his voice, unusually soft, carries out across the warm air, and over the waters.

Its soon not long after that the two beasts on deck. Suddenly turn into 3 beasts on deck. Tagger couldn't really sleep. Which is odd. Considering the otter, who prefers to sleep on rocks, finds the hammock is too... comfortable for him. So! What does any beast do when they cant sleep? Midnight snack? Don't mind if Tagg does! The otter comes out on deck, a fish sandwich of sorts in his paws, as the sound of Robins song fills the night air. He takes a big chomp of his breadish delight as he heads on over. Tagg is in his sleepy things. Which oddly enough is his Camp Uniform, unbuttoned. He leans against one of the railings as he lets the ocean air breath into his fur. He waits for a pause before saying, "Nice song mate" he grins.

The music continues, though Robin seems to have run out of words to sing at that point, the soft, melodic tune continuing on as he hums the melody he was singing previously. He blinks, glancing over his shoulder when Tagger appears of thin air. "OH! Hey...thanks. Something I'm working on now..." he nods slowly, tilting his head a bit. "I didn't know anyone else was up."

Tagger chuckles a bit as he takes another bite of his snack, "Its sounds great mate. Though could use a nice beat" he winks. If it were up to the otter, all the music in the world would have a nice beat. He turns around so he leans his back on the railing, so he can look at Robo better, "Eh.... They aren't. Well. Sides us... I couldn't sleep. Hammock made my back hurt." he chuckles a bit, "Thought i get up and make me a sang-gich. Thats when i heard your, oh so, melodious voice."

The stoat chuckles a little bit, the music finally stopping. "Well..." he says for a few moments. "There can't always be songs that have a beat." Rob says, turning to lean back on the railing. "I mean, songs that are always fast and beat-y can really only portray so much." he nods. "Right now, I'm sad. So ballads are what I'll write. When I'm happy, you'll get your fast, beat-y songs." he smiles.

Tagger grins and points his half bread thing at the stoat, "You better! And i know all songs CANT be all beat-y and what not. I just prefer them, to ballads. Maybe when i get sad ill request a sappy song from ye. What you say to that?" he chuckles, as the otter is hardly ever sad. The otter goes back to watching the black sea, "I'm guessing you miss Sy and the twins eh?" he asks. Guessing the reason for being the stoat being sad.

( Robin laughs a little bit and then hrms. "Well, alright, I'll agree to that then." he smirks before he pats the otter on the shoulder, nodding a bit before looking up to the moon. "Yeah...by the time I get back...I'll have missed a fairly important part of their life I think." he nods a bit. "I kind...well, I kind of wish I hadn't come...I mean, its not that important of a trip." )

Tagger chuckles and then he polishes the last of his meal, throwing the crumbs that collected on the railing overboard. He then looks at the moon as well in the clear sky, like a torch in the black. When the stoat says that he shouldn't have come, the otter pulls at his chin fur, "Well. You are right. I mean. You will be missing a bit. But come on mate. How many beasts go on an adventure anymore..." he then remembers what his sister told him, "The world is getting smaller mate. Not physically. But. As we start to discover the lasts bits of everything. Soon there wont be any new place to venture... And that is something that i would never miss" he chuckles, "Sides. When you return as long as you act like a proper father. Everything will be right as rain. Hell. We have otters at the camp that don't see their pups for seasons. And they turn out all right." he laughs to himself at that, "If anything. Do it for Kentar" he adds.

The stoat nods a little bit and smiles a bit. "Yeah...well, that's why I'm here. I mean, for Kentar." he nods. "But...I don't know." he glances around, turning back to face the sea again. "You only get once chance to be a father." he says. "I mean, yeah, we've had Thane. But I mucked that up. Real good. I don't want to make that mistake again. And I'm afraid that by leaving...I have." he sighs, strumming out a different, sad tune again, quietly, and softly, as to be able to talk over it.

Tagger nods slowly as he rests his head in his paws, "Aye. I guess you are right about that. Only one chance... But i don't think being gone during the early years means much to pups. I don't remember anything anytime when i was born. Do you? Does anybody?" he chuckles, "We will be back soon enough mate. And now there is a bit more extended family now to help keep watch of your kids. And if your kids get along with me. They will be the most... Getalongiest beasts in the world" he laughs and rubs his paw in his eye yawning, "It will all work out. I promise." he grins.

"Aye, I suppose so." he smiles a bit towards the otter. "Just make sure that when you and Garo are parents...y'know, if you ever adopt I mean, that you be good...and don't mess up. Cause that will haunt you forever." he nods slowly.

Tagger chuckles lightly as he pats the stoat on the shoulder, getting up from the railing, "Oh. I will be, the very best. Like no parent ever was. Sides. With all of you around. I dont think i will get the chance!" the otter chuckles as he walks toward the stairs that heads below deck, "Whelp. I'm heading back to sleep. See if i can get that hammock to stop killing me. Night stoat!" he calls out, before disappearing.

Well, that chat didn't really do anything to him, for his mood anyway. He smiles a bit at Tagger and nods. "Well, try and get a bit of rest. Have a good one." he nods before he turns back to the sea, starting to sing out again, something different though. Its a slow, melodic tune, and his voice sings out again. "The sea is calling me...My will to live is stronger than these tides can ever be...the sea is calling me, why wont I let it claim me...victory..."
