DORAROSE ran. She had run away, away from the Abbot, away from Redwall, away from those who wanted to help her. She didn't want their help. Creatures who helped her, who got close to her, died. She refused to let any Abbeybeast see that fate.

-She turned right, entering Mossflower Woods, going East. She had been going North before.

-The mousemaid finally stopped in a clearing deep within Mossflower. Falling to her knees, she wept. After her last meltdown at the Abbey, she had sworn to never cry around other beasts. They wanted to help, but it would only get them hurt.

-"Well, lookie here. A pretty maid, all alone & sad. Maybe we can cheer her up."

-DoraRose jumped at the sound of the sinister voice. Jerking her head up, she saw that while she had been crying, a dozen marauders had surrounded her. Her right paw flew to her side -- & she belatedly realized that she had left Redawll without her sword.

-The maid fought down the feeling of despair. She was rsourceful. She had well learned the lessons her father & some of his clients had taught her.

-Keeping her gaze focused on the laughing vermin around her, she turned her attention to the ground beneath her legs. There! She felt a rock beneath her right leg, at about mid-shin.

-"What's the matter, princess? Cat got your tongue?" sneered the boss, who was the only fox in the group.

-DoraRose rocked back on her feet, grabbing the rock as she did so. She stood, clutching it in her right paw as the beasts around her laughed. "Looks like somebeast wants to be a warrior!" guffawed the fox, his battleaxe held loosely in paw.

-The mouse suddenly threw the rock in a powerful overhand. Nobeast had any time to react before it slammed into the foxes' face, breaking his nose & knocking him unconcious.

-The warriormaid lunged at him, punching him in the jaw & grabbing his axe. She turned just as the closest 2 vermin swung their swords at her. With a mastery that would have shocked some of the Abbeybeasts, she dodged & countered, slaying them both. The red mist of the Bloodwrath rose up in her eyes as she battled on. She tried to fight it, but it was too strong.

-The enemy was no match for the maid & her Bloodwrath, & they were all quickly killed. But she was not unscathed. Her arm, side & thigh were cut & bleeding heavily, but she did not notice.

-The battleaxe slipped from her paw, & the last thought she had before she passed out was of how worried the Abbot must be...

DORAROSE was wandering through a meadow. She was at peace. She had never seen this meadow before, yet it seemed somehow familiar. The flowers were cheery-looking, the grass soft, & there was a small stream flowing through its middle.

-"Rose!"

-The warrior whisked around at the sound of the voice she had feared she would never hear again. "Lily?"

-LilyMoore stood a few paces off, violet eyes smiling out from her fair, brown face. "Rose."

-"LILY!" shrieked DoraRose, dashing to her sister. As they embraced, the warrior broke into sobs of joy. Here was her long-lost sister, right before her eyes!

-After a few minutes, LilyMoore backed up & took hold of her sisters' paw. "Come on. I have someone for you to meet."

-DoraRose followed the other maid, life forgotten & unheeded as she walked through what she instintively knew to be the Land of Dreams.

-Or was it?

-They left the meadow & entered the forest, which seemed to close about them like a loving mothers' embrace. Birds sang out from somewhere in the trees, & the tapping of a woodpecker echoed around the mice.

-The maids soon came to a small clearing with the stump of some forest giant in the middle. Near the stump was a rosebush with red flowers, & beside the bush was a mousmaid.

-DoraRose stared at the strange maid. She was as lovely as the roses at her side, & about the same age as DoraRose, yet she had an aura of great wisdom about her. The maid smiled & said, "Greetings, Rose."

-Now, DoraRose would normaly have been angry at somebeast outside her family calling her "Rose", but with this maid, it was different. She felt a strange kinship between them.

-"Greetings," returned the warrior, glancing down at her sister, "do you mind my asking your name?"

-LilyMoore squeezed DoraRoses' paw as the other maid answered, "No, I don't mind your asking. But I'm afraid I can't give you a straight answer."

-"Why not?" asked a puzzled DoraRose.

-"Life is never easy. We must always work for what we want. It is the same way when asking me creatures like me a question." The maid cocked her head slightly to 1 side and asked, "Would you care to hear the answer?"

-The warriormaid nodded, feeling very unsatisfied. "Sure."

-The maid by the rose nodded & spoke;

"Within the red-stone walls,

My heart of hearts does lie,

Betwix the Hole & Hall,

'Neath walls of red that reads both ways.

The Warrior & the Flower,

2 different lives collided.

A love so true, & innocent,

Was torn apart as the maid did die.

Many seasons then did pass

And the Warrior departed

In a faraway land,

Of woods & mossflowers,

His spirit great heroes guided.

And in a garden, a flower garden,

At the red place he had built,

A late rose was planted, to honor her,

And the flower never did wilt.

I am the love of the Warrior.

I was killed in a battle.

The vale where 'tis always noon,

That place was my home.

Go now, & solve this riddle

Of who I might be;

And look for my next message

So your heart may be set free."

-DoraRose furrowed her brow. She was very confused. "What?"

-"Don't worry, Rose." said LilyMoore, speaking for the first time since they had come to the clearing. DoraRose looked at her sister as she continued, "You are strong. You are wise. You are good. You are smart. You'll figure it out."

-The warrior smiled & turned back to the mysterious mouse, but she had vanished.

-The eldest maid stared at the place between the stump & bush until LilyMoore tugged on her paw, saying, "Let's explore."

-So the sisters left the clearing, wandering through the forest, enjoying the company of each-other, best friends till death...

HOW MANY days had passed? DoraRose couldn't tell; she was drifting in and out of reality. She was just barely aware of 2 dark shadows through her eyelids, murmuring. She tried to move, but her upper left arm, right thigh & left side felt like wheights, with a numb, throbbing pain emenating from them.

-In & out, in & out of conciousness went the mousemaid. Her dreams were shadowy, but 1 thing was constant: A lilting song, sung by a gentle, fair voice, echoing 'round & 'round, over & over again:

"My name is Rose of Noonvale,

The tribe of Urran Voh,

My only brother is called Brome,

And Martins' name I know!"

OOC:This is what ICly happened to DoraRose after I had her leave the Abbey on June 21, 2012. I don't think anybody logged it. Oh, well.  :)

This kinda-sorta-not-really has to go with the TP we'll be starting in September 2012. It was called "n00b TP", but its name was changed to "Thorns of Steel TP", but as of the time I wrote this fan-fic it was still listed under the original name.

Thanks for reading!
