Members and Positions in the Crimson Horde

From Redwall MUCK Wiki

The positions a beast in the Crimson Horde can hold. Ranks start at the top (highest) and finish at the bottom (lowest rank). Note that ranks in the horde are measured by how many pelts the beast has taken and are signified with facial tattoos; these are built upon as the beast gains rank.

Military Positions:

Note: there are four tiers of fighters in the horde, ever tier is marked by a short, thin blue line that comes down from the bottom of the eyes; much like a falling tear.

Chieftain/Chieftainess: Leader of the Horde. The chief's position is one that according to horde tradition must be taken through mortal combat. The chief is the best fighter within the horde and the only beast to bear the markings of a tier four fighter. The chieftainess or chieftain is leader of the group both ICly and OOCly. The tribe’s current chieftainess is Shailya.

Advisors: These three beasts are the leader's ears and eyes within the tribe. The chief on both military matters and on the welfare of the horde. Advisors are recognized by two blue horizontal lightning bolts on the outer corners of their eyes in addition to their normal tattoos. Advisors must have been captains previously to achieve this rank. Current Advisors: none.

Captains: Captains are another rank attained by fighting the current occupant. Captains lead warriors into battle and help the advisors to advise the chief on military matters. Their distinctive markings are two blade like tattoos that start at their ears and end at the cheek bones. In order to become a captain a beast must be a tier three fighter. Current captains: none.

From here on beasts hold no rank over one another:

Warriors: These beasts are the grunts of the horde. They fight, guard the camp, and sometimes gather food. Beasts that use spears and included in this category. They are recognized easily by their distinctive tattoos which consist of four lines beginning at their nose which split up just above the eyes. Two of the lines branch off and go over each of the beast’s eyes while the remaining two continue up their forehead. In the space between these lines on either side of their forehead are tattooed many swirls. Note: beasts belonging to the first tribe (see Traditions) have a variation of this tattoo, when the lines meet the corners of their eyes two branch off and expand to shroud the eyes in black before narrowing out, and continuing along the sides of their head. For those who don’t want to type this entire thing out into their descriptions a simply put that you character bears the tattoos of a Crimson Horde warrior. Warriors: none.

Archers: Once considered dishonorable weapons bows slings and other ranged weapons (along with their wielders) are welcome in the horde just as much as warriors are. Archer’s tattoos are six lines that start from the right ear and descend onto the right side of the face, as they descend they spread out so that they are spaced evenly from jaw to brow. The lines then march out onto the beast’s face splitting into smaller lines as they go, these lines sometimes swirl and sometimes rock back and forth jaggedly, they stop at the center of the beast’s muzzle. Note: for beasts belonging to the first tribe (see Traditions) one of the lines expands at the corner of their right eye and shrouds it in black. For those who don’t want to type this entire thing out into their descriptions a simply put that you character bears the tattoos of a Crimson Horde archer. Current archers: none.

Shadows: Once shunned and disowned for their dirty trade, the shadows were welcomed back as full members of the horde under Shailya's rule. Although still looked down upon by some, their deadly activity as assassins and spies has helped to further the tribes’ aims in Mossflower. The shadows are the only beasts in the horde to remain 'bare faced' as the nature of their work makes having tattoos impractical. Instead all shadows bear a solid black spot surrounded by fiery waves on the inside of their left forearm. Current shadows: Karda

Non-military Positions:

Note: rather than having facial tattoos non-military beasts wear face paint to mark them as members of the tribe. The face paintings are simple, consisting of red dashes on both cheek bones and four black dots on their muzzle.

Tattoo Artists: The few beasts with the artistic savvy to tattoo a beast are both well respected and well cared for in the horde. Tattoo Artists: None.

Healers: Beasts who tend to wounds and the like. As with tattoo artists they are well cared for because of their rare, at least with vermin, know-how and skill. Healers: none.

Residents: Beasts who live and work inside the horde for the benefit of the horde. They can include fisher beasts, carpenters, gatherers, or just the family of a beast in the horde. Residents: none.

If you have an idea for a position, or would just like to be something that is not listed here, send Shailya a pmail.
