Martin walks again

From Redwall MUCK Wiki

Pacing late into the night Jo thinks about his sword lessons and Ayita….’ahhh Ayita’ He thinks to himself the lovely ottermaid he plans on taking on a camping trip in the morning.

The flicker of firelight casts dancing shadows upon the floor, the otter noticing that it seems to be odd to him….he could have sworn he saw a shadow.

“Eh, late night tricks.” He says to himself more out of assurance to himself than anything, he starts up the stairs and onto the middle level of the Abbey.

‘Seein’ them shadows again’ “Perhaps I should stop staying up so late, then maybe I….” He hears something in the hall, in the moonlight cast from the window the otter sees a figure.

A mouse?

“Hey watcher still doin’ up matey?” He asks quietly, approaching the figure slowly though suddenly not believing his eyes. A ghost?

Jo shudders visibly, the white mouse turns towards him and walks a few paw steps forward towards the otter. The light cast from the wall torches bringing back color into his fur, his back transparent in the moonlight.

“M-martin?” Jo manages to stammer, the long dead warrior nods his head and frowns slightly concern written on his face.

“Wha….” The mouse cuts him off and touches Jo on the shoulder, a vision taking over all other surroundings. The hall is gone and in place of it is Great Hall.

When you look you see the glowing white mouse, you can see through Martin. He becomes Jo pointing to the Tapestry in the great hall "Youuuu must save it.....you muuust" and then, he is gone.

“Hey Jo! Jo?” A worried voice says, “Come on you fainted beast wake up!”

The otter blinks twice and looks around, with a look of surprise written on his features and seeing an old mouse brother kneeled in front of him he grins slightly though his brows are scrunched up in thought, “Hello brother, dun’ know what ‘appened, One moment I was walkin’ to the bunk room, the next I was seein’ things!”

Seeing the otter obviously shaken the brother scrunches up his brows and takes on a listen to me now kinda look, “What did you see?”

“A ghost mouse.”

The old mouse takes on a look of surprise. “M-martin?!”

“Aye Martin, as clear as day I saw him.”

“What did he say???”

“Well he touched me on the shoulder and everythin’ kinda spun around and then I, we were both in Great Hall.” The Otter clears his throat and continues, “An’ right before my eyes he turned into me, and poin’ed to the tapestry sayin ‘Save it, ye must.’ “ Jo frowns deeply, still thinking after his new experience.

“Save it? From what?” The brother asks.

“I don’ know though it can be somethin’ important.”

“True, all of Martins messages are either in riddles or they don’t line up to certain things, mostly they are warnings to something not yet come to pass.” He says, nodding sagely as he offers a paw out to Jo

Jo takes the offered paw and is helped up. “Well whatever it is, I need to be ready to save it?”

“Yes save it, the tapestry Jo the tapestry. This is an important task given to you by Martin himself, I suggest you take it for more that you think it is.”

“Ok brother, though I may not get any sleep. But I need to pack anyhow for tomorrow so I should atleast get some sleep at some poin’ “ He grins at the old mouse and pats him on the shoulder, “G’night brother.”

“Goodnight Jo. Don’t think too long or you will not remember your outing with miss Ayita tomorrow.” He says with a wink, causing the otter to blush slightly.

The old mouse heads off to bed.

The otter heads into the bunkroom and starts to quietly pack for the outing tomorrow,

‘there is a reason why….’ He thinks to himself.
