Leon-Brother and Master Healer of Redwall
Zee- Resident of Redwall Abbey
RW Abbey: Firepit
This is a small strip of land between the pond and the orchards which is bordered on one side by a portion of the Abbey's southern wall. This particular section, while well built and sturdy, is obviously much, much newer than the sections to either side of it. The ground is clear of almost all grass and weeds, and is somewhat uneven, still bearing deep ruts and impressions that have not yet been worn away by the rain. The center of this area contains a large firepit lined with flagstones and encircled with log benches.

It’s still a little hot outside so no fire is going, there is a lit lantern here though for light but that’s all there is, oh and a badger is here too, one named Zee as he sits by his self, flipping through a journal he has set near the lantern.
Leon was walking around and sees the faint light and went to make sure it wasn't something for a concern, he looks relieved when he sees the badger and walks over "Hello Zee.....you keep a journal now or is that someone else's?"
Zee looks over and half waves "No tis not mine Brother Leon, tis Zinnia's....she sent it from where ever she be at, as well as a couple letters just yesterday morning in fact"
Leon blinks " Sister Zinnia sent a letter?" Ok he is interested now and goes to sit by the badger if he allows "Where is she anyways. it’s...been a long while and she just sort of left with little warning, I mean we still are without a Recorder. I know the abbot keeps records now as well as one or two others in the order will keep records up to date for the abbey now, least till we get a proper Recorder whom is a brother or Sister already in the order"
Zee says, "I not be sure she is still...well then gain ya don’t ever NOT be in de order anymore I suppose and I know not some...island or other maybe, with her mate Takeo and seems he has some sea gull friend that’s like a messenger or other"
Leon looks at the journal as Zee speaks, "Mate? As in she is married now? That...is interesting news. Anything else said or if she will be back maybe?"
Zee nods "Yes, least guessing by de time de letter came she is married and no she lives thar now, she won't be back lad...but she says she be happy and that I shouldn’t be stressed on..certain...things" He frowns as he doesn’t right off say what certain things are. He sighs “But hey...she be safe, happy and alive...someone ta watch over her and be thar fer her"
Leon frowns "Whats the matter Zee? And stressed on what...bout her? She seems fine to me and it appears you...or anyone can send her a letter back, jus look for whoever got it here and they are sure to get it to whoever can get it to her, right?"
Zee sighs "Ya remember...that day in the woods when Zurrgg got your son and......"He shakes his head "Least you got your son back, never got anyone else back, couldn’t ever find them...no one could and then that foul wildcat sold him..and...and I know beast were more concern with de northern beasts..I know...tis just...were me fault in de first place."
Leon listens "Oh...Xander and yeah I remember that day it was sort of scary. Look its possible Xander is...well" Ok he doesn’t say the word, he can't "And it's not fault, it’s not and you and others tried their best to find him, searches were called off and there was danger around, danger that could of...well" He sighs and shakes his head," I am sure Zinnia knows you tried your best also"
Zee exclaims, "He's not dead!" He then frowns and lowers his tone "I..am sorry Brother Leon...but he is not dead, Xander is alive, Zinnia mentioned a vison and that he gets home ta Redwall, just not sure when...how or what not. She even looked for him some and got lost, that Takeo fellow found her and helped her, saved her life and fer that I am grateful"
Leon nods, he was expecting the yell so is not too surprised, "Hmmm...visions are interesting, and can in a case like this bring hope." He lays a paw on Zee's arm "Look Zee, as Zinnia seems to know...do not stress about this or blame yourself on Xander being captive. He will be found and sounds like freed somehow, just try and think positive because I am sure he will want to see you...alive and -well- when he gets back to the abbey."
Zee sighs "I feel like I failed him, I mean de wildcat and I fault and de wildcat was going to try and slay me when I dropped me blade..somehow Xander picked it up ..but he couldn’t swing it and that wildcat grabbed him....told me not ta move or he would...slay him, me sword was dropped and kicked aside and...that wildcat got away...and.."
Leon says, "I know I was there remember...Zurrgg had Caleb also, just Caleb was later rescued they just couldn’t get to Xander on time and I have reason to believe another abbey beast saw Xander..just a though," He frowns "And that’s why they was killed, the wildcat didn’t want anyone finding out he was in that barn north of the abbey, it was searched but nothing found..just traces of fur and...that there WAS beast there and no clue a direction they went either, and at the time birds couldn’t look due to the northern beats maybe shooting them down, or other vermin shooting them down or..well maybe they could of been found or maybe not..I don’t know"
Zee tilts his head "Who may of saw them lad?" He is curious but also sad their only possible witness was also killed.
Leon answers "I think Sister Krystal saw them....she was found by a tree by the barn and what looked like a spear wound, she was dead when the hare found her, not a LP hare just some hare from the area...she been dead a while when I examined her and it did look like a spear maybe, whoever did it...weather it was Zurrgg or another beast clearly didn’t want her to be able to tell anyone."
Zee nods "I remember hearing from Oz she was brought in....her daughter she it and Oz had to carry her daughter out of the entry to go elsewhere, she took it fairy hard de poor lass...hmms it is possible that wildcat killed her, but sadly we will never know but it’s clearly a good possibly...Zurrgg is dead though as is that 2nd in command of his and least that threat is gone and that’s good ta know....also Ferravale is getting back ta normal, slowly with their new chieftain Blisa..maybe I will visit de lass and see how she is, see if they need some help, just a few days and then come back here."
Leon nods "Maybe, we will need some help here as well with harvest just now starting. Hmmms maybe helping here some and Ferravale a few days will get your mind off things Zee"
Zee manages a small smile "Maybe lad...maybe, may ask Benar what he thinks first though"
Leon says, "That’s always a good idea to ask the abbot on a few days from the abbey, or least let him know you were planning it anyways."
Zee nods as he stands "Anyways I be off ta bed, night Brother Leon" He gets the lantern "So....led you to the gatehouse?"
Leon nods "Sounds good Zee....sounds good"
Zee nods as the two beasts head to bed, he leads the brother to the gatehouse and he heads to his own bed afterwards.
