Journal Writing

From Redwall MUCK Wiki

Sariel is sitting in a big chair a little ways from the fire, writing in a book, as per usual

The sound of pattering feet and murmuring voices can be heard coming down the stairs from the infirmary. Ahndia and Odira enter the Great Hall, the mother holding her daughter's paw. The squirrelwife releases Ahndia so she can go say hello to her friend- indeed, Ahndia pulls a chair, smaller than Sariels, and sits next to him. "Hi Sariel. What're you writin' about?"

Sariel looks up as Ahndia and her mom stroll into the Great Hall. He breaks into a huge smile as Ahndia slips over to where he's sitting "Hi Ahndi!" He stands up to greet her and give her a hug after closing the book and setting it on the chair behind him. "I'm happy to see you!, you too Odira!" He smiles at her "Oh, nothing really, just my journal"

Odira sits on Ahndia'sother side, in her own chair, as Ahndia hugs Sariel back. The older squirrel nods. "Hello." Ahndia is a tad more exuberant. "Good to see you too! You keep a journal? Thats cool! I was never too focused in Abbey school, so I dont I actually know enough to keep a journal." Odira chuckles. "You know enough, you just dont have the patience." Ahndia blushes. "Well, that too."

Sariel nods "It's something my moma taught me to do, says it's good for looking back on and seeing how you grow" He smiles "Maybe if you wanted we could start one for you together, if we can find you a journal." Sariel looks up to Odira as if to ask if it was okay

Ahndias grin grows wider as Odira nods her consent. Odira stands, pawtips resting on the armrest edges. "Shall I go find an empty notebook? Im sure there are many in the library."

Sariel is quite excited "would you, Mrs. Odira? please?" he looks shocked as he realises Shandar is not around "where is Shandar? you guys are always around each other, did you fight or something?"

Odira waves a paw as she leaves, headed to the library."Just Odira is fine." Ahndia leans back in her chair, watching Sariel."No. I think shes on the walltops with her mandolin. Mummy is off duty, so we wanted to spend some time out of the infirmary." Ahndia wrinkles her nose."Any fight with Shandar gets solved in ten minutes by a wrestling match. And she always wins."

"Well, that's good" At the mention of wrestling his neckhair bristles slightly "Is that okay with you? That she wins all the time, Ahndia?" His voice has a slight defensive note mixed in with the normal semi-soft spoken tone.

Ahndia leans forward slightly, paws held out in front of her as she shakes them, trying to 'placate' Sariel. "Oh, no, it isnt that bad! I dont mind! She was teachin me to wrestle at one point, but shes been doing it for so long, so shes way better than I am. I dont mind that she wins. It isnt ever over anything big, anyway." She looks a little anxious, not wanting Sariel to be upset, but not wanting to get Shandar in trouble, either. "If it is important, we just talk."

Sariel's head cocks to one side as if he's trying to read the origin of the anxiety, is it from Shandar or from her being afraid of him being upset. Then he smiles and says "Okay" realizing his judgment is clouded by his emotions, he's never felt like this before and he doesn't know how to deal with it and be his usual thoughtful self at the same time.

Ahndia sits back once more and smiles back, echoing Sariel."Ok."It is at this moment Odira arrives back, a tightly bound notebook held in her paw, the color of the paper standing out from her dark habit. She sits down, holding the notebook out to her daughter, and Ahndia takes it from her."Thanks Mummy."Ahndia smiles at her mom, who smiles back softly, happy to see her daughter happy. Ahndia in turn holds the book out to Sariel, and her smile turns slightly bashful."If you wish, we, I mean, I could start the journal now." She pauses. "What do you usually write in a journal?"

"you could write about your day, you would write about struggles, victories, even fictional stories, that's the beauty of it all, Ahndi, you can write anything. And it's secret to you." Sariel says, "What do you /want/ to write about?"

The first thing that comes to Ahndias mind is you, and she very nearly says it."Id write about yu-"She stops herself quickly and busies herself straightening her dress hem, trying not to blush."I dont know. Id probably start with my day, I suppose."She speaks quickly. Odira knows her daughter very well, and she knows what Ahndia is thinking. Odira smiles again, watching the two young ones, thinking about Ahndias dad.

Sariel pulls up two chairs to a lower writing desk for them and smiles at Ahndia motioning that the other chair is for her

Ahndia moves towards the chair, slides into it, and places the empty notebook on the table, smiling. Odira directs her gaze at the fire, only vaguely listening to the dibbuns.

Sariel gives Ahndia his pen "I got two of these from my mom, here, keep it"

"You sure?" Ahndia grasps the pen, but doesn't take it from Sariel just yet. "I mean, from your mom and everything..You don't mind me using it?"

Marlena slowly comes down the stairs and has a small knapsack over her shoulder.

Sariel smiles "Yes, you can have it. I have another one" He doesn't want to let go but he also doesn't want to make it awkward

Suddenly, Odira stands, nods at the mouse, and motions for Ahndia to follow her. "Come AHndi, I must go back to the infirmary. You can write in your journal there. I'm sure there will be other opportunities for you to talk to Sariel. Thank you, Sariel." AHndia smiles ruefully as she takes the pen and notebook, giving Sariel a hug before she leaves with her mother.
