Insanity via numbers in the Abbey Infirmary (and, no, there was no M.A.T.H.)
Redwall Abbey Infirmary
Nissaya (Nissa), Streamheart and Konrad, otters. DoraRose and Angela, mice. Oz the badger. Lee, another otter. Benar the squirrel. John, another squirrel. Lacota, yet another squirrel.
Daylight filters through the window of the infirmary into the room, where Nissaya works diligently, though his manner is rather off. Serving as a field medic in the midst of a battle as terrible as the retaking of Redwall had certainly taken a heavy toll on the peace loving otter.
Thumping can be heard outside the door, then Lee enters, leaning heavily on his crutch. His crutch thumps the floor, as he makes his way to a chair to sit.
Oz walks into the infirm, he is here to check on a couple beasts and see how every beast is doing.
Angela is in here, also checking on the patients, but unlike her otter helper, she seems to be in a very good mood. DoraRose is helping her and learning some healing at the same time while they converse quietly. At the thumping the elderly healer raises her eyes and smiles at the Head Guard. "Well, Lee, I'm glad that you're followin' my advice. Per'aps yer foot'll actually heal properly now. Ah, good day, OZ," she adds. "'Ow can I 'elp ye?"
For the most part, Nissa is keeping his distance from everyone else. His face is somber, but not the blank expression that had been present before when he had first learned of Leon's supposed death. Seconds after Angela addresses Lee, a female otter holding a very small dibbun otter enters the infirmary, and she smiles upon sighting Lee, at which point she makes her way over towards the head guard. "Ah, there you are!" She exclaims.
Lee stands, smiling, and he embraces his wife. "Stream'eart!" He kisses her cheek, then Konrad's forehead. "How are ye, dear?"
Oz shakes his head "I am fine just checking to see how every one is doing. The dibbuns got back yesterday for which I am very glad of"
DoraRose 's smile falters slightly. Yes...I noticed. I....spent time with Lily yesterday." Angela sighs as the Head Guard stands back up and hopes he's not putting weight on his injured foot. Going over to her albino helper, she checks his work.
Nissaya actually doesn't acknowledge Angela's presence all that much, but instead continues to work. Streamheart smiles warmly when Lee embraces her, and Konrad lets out the smallest, softest squeak when his father kisses his cheek. "I'm doing well," says Streamheart lightly. "I just wanted to come and check on you!"
Lee smiles. "I love ye." He hugs her again. "Anyway, I be so 'appy ta have me fam'ly back again. Did ye see Starlight? She be growin' so fast."
Oz smiles, he also seems glad family is together again
The door from outside opens and Benar walks inside. The Elder has a basket full of gardening tools and a various herbs. He stops to look around as if searching for someone.
Angela murmers, "Ye do good work, Nissaya. Why are ye so out of sorts today?" DoraRose was very flustered about being left alone bandaging the injured otter healer who had gotten shmucked with a friendly fire arrow. She manages to finish the wrapping without freaking out, then she looks around the room and stays quiet. She had forgotten how everyone seems to congregate in one room here at the Abbey, even though it's hardly anyone compared to the whole population of Redwall...
Emyuil walks in and hugs his sister suddenly. He's been very affectionate to her ever since she got back; he really missed her. Having done this, he wanders about the room.
Nissaya looks over at Angela, and he sighs, stopping for a good few moments as he looks back at his current patient. "I don't know.." He mumbles. "I'm used to death, but...being in the battle was different.." Streamheart chuckles softly, nodding. "Yes, I saw Starlight. She looks almost like you."
Lee blushes and kisses Streamheart, dropping his crutch in the process. When he pulls away, he smiles. "Wot say ye to a nice, relaxin' trip ta Camp Willow with just me an' the dibbuns, hmm? Two weeks ta do wotever we want, no worries, eh? Me own treat for ye."
Oz slips off to check on the dibbuns.
Benar asks, "Ah good day everyone, I hope you are all doing ok?" he moved further into the room, "Has anyone seen Brother Michael? We need to talk about the Rose Garden it's covered in mint it is well the whole agricultural grounds ahve gone to pot."!"
Another beast enters; another squirrel. He glances about, nods silently to those inside, and leans against the wall.
Angela nods. "I felt the same way my first few times..." she mutters to the albino otter, then she looks sharply at the Abbey Elder. "Pot?" DoraRose sits by a fox prisoner who has started groaning and bathes his forehead with a cool, wet towel and talks softly to him to help him calm down.
Emyuil glares at the fox prisoner briefly. He casually asks DoraRose, "So...how was Ferravale?"
Nissaya nods slowly at the response, but for some reason, he just can't seem to take it to heart. "It's an awful feeling, you know? I can't imagine actually taking a beast's life, much less doing it over and over again." He shakes his head, looking almost sick. "To think there are beasts that live for these things."
Lee hugs his wife.
Streamheart seems to brighten at the suggestion. "Why of course! You know, I was just thinking that the dibbuns need a break from all of this anyway." She plants a soft kiss on Lee's cheek. "I'll go talk to Starlight about it and get back to you, alright?" With that, she turns and walks straight out of the room, still cradling Konrad delicately.
Lee smiles, then tries to reach for his dropped crutch. "I should proba'lly make me exit as well."
John sighs. Glancing around, he awkwardly asks, "So...Did anyone 'ere eat lunch?"
DoraRose shrugs noncommittally, then leaps to her feet as a Dibbun shouting can be heard right outside the Infirmary door. Rushing out, she breaks up the fight and is gone as she leads the Dibbuns back to Oz. Angela goes into the Infirmary Recovery to do her rounds in there.
Lacota wanders in. "Did I hear somebeast mention lunch?"
