RW Abbey: Infirmary

Several beds are lined against the red sandstone walls of the Abbey's Infirmary. An examination table, separated from the rest of the room by hanging blankets, rests against the far wall. Tucked into a small alcove is a sizeable workbench with various containers for mixing and preparing medicinal compounds. Against another wall is a desk for use by the Infirmary Keeper. A curtained off alcove behind the desk hides a locked door to the Infirmary's supplies and linens.

Zinnia doesn't go into the infirm too often by her shoulder is bothering her. It's healed yes but still sure from some weeks ago as she comes in and doesn’t pay any attention to whom is in the room as it’s usually quiet in here.

Flicktail's eyes alight when he sees the Sister, it's obvious he wishes to talk with her, but he also has need of her official as a Recorder "Ahh Sister, did ya bring your record book and quill?" He asks politely smiling broadly

Zinnia is tired it seems or she would know who just spoke to her, “I don't always carry my....." And she stops talking when she sees just who it is and looks down as she goes over to where she was to get some sort of ointment and grabs it off the shelf and looks ready to leave the room again, maybe out the open ground doorway.

Aden raises an eyebrow as the badger enters, also flashing her a polite smile. "Evening." She doesn't recognize Zinnia, but Flicktail certainly seems to...Why she would have her things with her in the Infirmary? The other beast seems to have the same thought, but then things get...Awkward? Oof, did she just stumble into drama?! She's been back less than a /day/, c'mon.

Flicktail says, "Please Sister Zinnia, I need the abbey recorder. I would not call you without need. We were nearly killed. I suppose if ya need we can wait till the morrow."

Zinnia frowns and avoids eye contact "Then you need a healer...not me." She walks past him towards the door, but walks slowly, “Sorry sir."

Aden watches the interaction, curiously, her gaze flicking back and forth between the two other beasts. "Don't worry, I already pulled the arrow out of his bum, it's emotional healing we need, now." She decides to place herself in the conversation, invited or not, and chuckles to herself. She doesn't know what's going on, but can't stand the tension.

Flicktail sighs sadly "Sister, why are ye angry with me, I have waited all this time. Just to see you and I honestly need you...and...I am no longer Champion....”

Zinnia stops by the door, “I....was away with Brother Leon and Dorarose and we got back a couple weeks ago with a couple others...but the one who drove the boat is heading back...and I am not...angry..no its..you....." She sniffs and slowly looks up and she is...wait crying? “The way I treated you and avoided you and everyone before I left......you hate me and ya a right to"

Her mouth is open to say something else before it snaps shut. Oh! She's crying. Aden blinks in surprise, falling quiet to allow this to play out between the two of them.

Flicktail moves to Zinnia "Hey hey hey.I don't hate ye, I love ye and I need ya." He smiles gently his paws reaching out to her shoulders "On Martin's sword I swear it”

Zinnia sniffs, she allows his paws on her shoulder “I...wanted to avoid...everyone at the time. But it made matters worse and at first I didn't care..when..where Papa died" And yes she remembers that day, she was there when it happen. Well on her way to the orchards when it did and saw and ran to him. “My world seemed to also, but I..got better. I am not so depressed and lost, my friends and...whats left of family help me"

Flicktail says, "Sister Zinnia if you feel ya was wrong, and did not do right I forgives you. Do not hold on to this burden. I love ye with all me heart and ye will always be part of my family"

Zinnia she rubs her eyes and goes to lean against his tunic letting some tears come, and it does dawn on her finally what he said just a short while ago, "And..what do you mean you’re not Champion, of course you are." Well it's not like anyone was told. She nods "I...thanks Flicktail. I am a little...well different now" More grown up could be another way of saying it as well.

Flicktail gently hugs her to his chest and nods "and better for it I will lay odds. Martin has selected a new Champion, and bid me lay down his sword and live in peace”

Zinnia listens, she will have to find out more later but she now she lets the hug happen “I am glad we are still friends." She seems to start to say something else but doesn't right away, then she dos speak “There is one other major change in my life since you last saw me" Which was days before she left for the western shore.

Flicktail says, "Tell me wot you will Sister....and I will listen"

Zinnia smiles, it’s a true one not forced as she knows she is not hated and she is happier than before she left on her trip, "I adopted a dibbun, a badger named Xander. I found him beach and..."She is sad here" His mother was dead and sea gulls were trying to hurt him, I am not sure how but I managed to help him, course I needed a healer and I still have some scars..." She decides to show him her shoulder and shoulder blade area, just move the robe a little to see just the shoulder area and there is scars that have slowly healed and its clear it looked a lot worse. She adjusts her robes again "Just...don’t think you can go up to him and say hi, he is a bit...leary of others at first. I think he went to me on the beach so easily cause I was another badger"

Flicktail says, "Very well, thank ye for telling me Sister, those will be scars of honor. You’re a beast after me own heart, and I be proud of you"

Zinnia smiles again "I..should go check on Xander...." And a thunder of rain is heard, great a storm "He dislikes storms..." She starts to head off and then hugs Flicktail, “We can talk more tomorrow with you and whoever is Champ now and...Whoever else if need anything in logs...goodnight" And then she steps back and out the door.

RW Abbey: Entry

You stand on a grassy sward between two cottages. To the south you see a small, calm pond. To the north lies an open space where the Abbey has its feasts in the warmer seasons. To the east is the Great Hall, a massive structure that rises far above the abbey walls and is completed with large towers that pierce upwards into the sky. The main building is completed with a large, iron banded door that would allow one into the Great Hall.

Coolness has swept into the air now, bringing with it the autumn leaves of the orchards. Coating the trails that lace and move through the dying grass and flowers. Regardless of the death of plants, the area is beautiful in its gold and orange season. The abbey is sporting the colors in full pride.

      • It’s the next day, and Zinnia has decided to update abbey logs and then visited her father’s grave for about an hour ****

It's a lovely, lazy day at the Abbey, and Aden has thrown a blanket onto the grass of the Entry, content to bask in the afternoon sun.

Beside her on the grass is the new Champion, Magramba, a book held up to keep the sun out of her eyes. No blanket for him.

Flicktail looks up and says quietly to one of the young pages "would you see if Sister Zinnia is available, we need to record some Abbey history

Zinnia is usually in the library but she was found elsewhere after some time searching, she agreed to see what was needed as she was fairly sure she had already reordered some important info, but she also didn't come right away.

"You're sure you don't want any blanket?" Aden offers for the eighteenth time, turning her head and squinting a quick smile at Mag, who is so valiantly keeping the sun from her eyes. What a saint. But, then, those ears perk at the sound of Flicktail's voice, and she turns her head. Where is he? "Oh, hey Flick." She calls over with a smile, raising a paw in a wave. And, eventually, that greeting is offered to Sister Zinnia as well, when she arrives.

Flicktail walks over to Aden and Magramba "Ello Aden, Ello Mr. grumpy Cheeks”

"Yes, I'm sure," Magramba answers as Flicktail wanders over. "Hey Flick."

Zinnia nods "What was important? I did update records earlier, I was....just in the graveyard for a little while probably why no one could find me"

Flicktail says, "Sister I have a toast Proclamation to make as Abbey Champion...I would like ye to record it please."

Aden props herself up on her elbows, still sprawled comfortably on the ground. Oh, is something happening? This all seems very formal. Maybe she shouldn't be laying in the sun - or maybe that is exactly where she needs to be? The squirrel doesn't move, and instead watches the interaction, curiously.

Isn't Mag the Abbey Champion now? Oh well, it doesn't matter that much. These are semantics. He does put the book down for a minute to get a better view of the momentous announcement.

Zinnia raises an eyebrow and clears her throat “But you’re not the abbey champion anymore Flicktail" She says quietly

Flicktail says, "still I need this recorded as my last official act Zinnia, it was..when I handed over the sword" There is a little bit of pain on his voice as he is reminded ..his time is over.

Zinnia nods as she listens to what is about to be said,"Ok, go on then."

Shots fired! That was mildly painful to watch. Aden's eyebrows quirk upwards ever so slightly and she pushes herself into a sitting position, out of the protection of Magramba's shade, but she'll survive.

Flicktail says, "well as you know, Martin the warrior has chosen a new Champion, Magramba, AKA Mr. Grumpy Cheeks, but Before I relinquished my Sword, This heroic Squirrel, Aden Skippaw has been of great aid and I proclaimed her Aden, Champion's Shield, and I would like that recoded for all time Please"

Oh, right, that thing where Aden got a fancy title. "You really were a big help," Magramba teases, reaching over to poke her in the side.

Zinnia politely listens, “I can mention a nick name but I am unsure the abbot would make it an official title but I can write it down anyways if you like and anything else of importance that’s able to be told be written down as well." She manages a smile "And I don’t think...grumpy cheeks..written down, doesn’t seem like a good thing to keep in records"

Flicktail says, "It is me last act as champion zinnia, I think we can make it an official, I am sure Father Abbot will have no problem with it"

And, suddenly, Aden is flushing the deepest shade of maroon. "Oh, jeez, Flick that's -" She blinks. She didn't think it was that official; this is all very legit, isn't it? "Ehem, I -" And she's still sitting in the grass with her head fur all akimbo as Mag pokes her in the side. "How dare thee touch the Champion's Shield!" She giggles, blushing about every possible shade of embarrassed that she can be. But it doesn't have to last long, because the official-ness dissipates very quickly. Oh, never mind. "Heh, back to being plain ol' me." She jokes.

Zinnia says, "Well it can be asked and mentioned is all I will say"

Flicktail says, "Thank you Zinnia, I take it you know my companions by now"

Zinnia says, "I may of seen them before I left for Salamandastron, I do not know I was not myself at the time, and to tell the truth at the time had no thoughts of returning."

Flicktail says, "Well then come let me introduce my friends to you."

Zinnia frowns a little, "But you don't understand......never mind its the past and I am a lot better now than I was then"

Flicktail offers and Arm to Zinnia "I don’t care Zinnia, I am just happy to have ya, and proud to call you friend”

Magramba is happy to watch all this and zone out for a second. It's been nice having a break, after all.

Aden is anything but arm candy. She's more like an overwhelmingly colorful sweater - there's no escaping her embrace. But the sly comment earns a smug smirk from her. Not in front of the kids! She chuckles. "I had my ten minutes of fame. I'll take what I can get." She laughs. "We met the other day, sort of. I am Aden, it's a pleasure to meet you." She pushes herself the rest of the way upright and scoops her blanket from the ground. "Mag, I'm going to go steal a nap in your fancy new cottage." His new status has been great for her - the bunk room has never really been her style, anyway. "It's been lovely seeing everyone." She grins, waving as she heads off.

Zinnia chuckles "Nice to meet you and I am sure your still be helpful and of course Champion Magramba"

When Aden makes off for the cottage, Magramba just watches her go from his place in the grass, too comfy to get up and follow. "Of course," He replies to Zinnia, realizing he heard his name there. It's still odd to hear the title with it.

Zinnia nods "I have already placed the fact Magramba is champion now in the abbey logs, today in fact"

Flicktail says, "Aye and I will be his advisor if and when he needs it”

Zinnia say, "I am sure he will be well or Martin would not of chosen him"

Flicktail says, "aye, It is a big change for me"

Zinnia nods "I expect it is but your get use to it and I am sure your still be helpful to the abbey." She offers a smile to the fox.

Flicktail says, "I'm just glad I have friends to help me thru"

Zinnia smiles “Friends are helpful and important to have. I would not be here today if it was not for friends and those who I gained as friends while away"

Flicktail says, "I am glad you know that “

Magramba gets up from the grass, dusting off his trousers as he rises, and gives the badger and fox a jaunty wave. "Well, I'd best be making sure she's not tearing the place apart. You two take care." With a smile and a wave, he heads off for the cottage.

Zinnia nods, she then heads back inside as it is starting to get late.
