I've been away from this place for at least two years maybe a bit more. I had found the G rating here too limiting at the time. Also I had grown tired of the books and fandom. But now I'm back. When I left I was stuck half way through Rackty Tam and bored with all things Redwall. Now I'm nearly finished with Doomwyte and wanting to get back into RPing here.
In reading Doomwyte I got the notion that the cannon characters age a bit slower than our RP versions do. I know the books aren't very good at giving ages or how they relate to Human terms and the earlier books don't match the later ones. However in Doomwyte at least being 12 seasons old (which one character says he is) is treated as if he is roughly speaking 12 human years old or basically a teenager or older child - old enough to go off and have adventures but not old enough to fight in battle regularly. This makes sense as the target audience for the books has always been children around 12 years old give or take a few years.
This means that in theory characters on the MUCK age twice as fast as in Doomwyte (I can't say if the other books make it clear or match up with Doomwyte in this matter). I just find it interesting. I do not have a problem with how fast characters age in the game. I actually find it just right for me personally.
With the 1 season = 2 human years I was able in about 3 RL years to play a character from childhood to adulthood and if I'd stuck with a character a year or two more I could have played from infancy to old age in about 4 RL years which from my limited experience doesn't seem too long or too short if a player is active a lot and has others who are active to RP with.
So getting back on topic - I am back on here. Can't say how active I will be yet but I will be on here at least some in the evenings (Pacific standard Time) and more on Saturdays if I don't sleep in too much.
As for my old characters, Amethyst Tazan the blind rat is still alive ICly and has returned to Ferravale. Her husband William Tazan adopted son of the late Aikuen Tazan is uncounted for and may be dead (his name has been taken by someone else so if I do remake him he'll have to use a different name.) Will was the potter for a short time in Ferravale and as a dibbun spent some time at Redwall. He and his odd family lived in the ruins of Moledeep and fixed the place up some over the seasons they lived there.
Will and Amy's daughter Wilco is now grown and is off who knows where in Mossflower doing rat things. I do not know if I will revive her or not as she was a spoof half the time.
In other news I have a new character by the name of Clover Mirdrop who has recently come to Redwall. So if anyone wants to RP with me or pester me lovingly with chatter I should be on Clover or Amy at Redwall or Ferravale respectively some evenings or on Saturdays.
