RW Abbey: Zork's Room

This is a good size room and has a large bed with a blue blanket and a couple blue pillows on it. The bed looks like it could easily fit a tall badger. At the foot of the bed is a cherry wood chest that is locked , only the owner knows what lies inside. Beside the bed is a small nightstand with a small drawer and a larger drawer. On the Nightstand are an oil lamp and a wash basin. On the wall is a picture of Brother Zork made from charcoal. And a toolbox is close to the wall, inside is forge tools, and its wise to leave them alone. There is a door that goes back to the hallway.

Exits: [O]ut

Zork the badger. LilyMoore the mouse. Aveelia the mouse.

Zork is laying down in his bed, he is still pretty weak after what happened. Then again what he did he probably shouldn't of done, the day started fine and peaceful and all would of been fine...but then that changed. He is awake right now.

LilyMoore has decided to visit her friend. Her great-grandmother told her that something bad happened, but she didn't say what, exactly, so Lily has promised herself that she will be quiet and calm and even more respectful than usual. She knocks on the door, then sets the (huge) covered basket on the floor. It's surprisingly heavy.

Zork looks towards the door, he doesn't know who it is yet and sighs "Just...just enter" He says sounding a little tried, not too tried but more so than he should be. He also sits up a little bit or least best he can.

LilyMoore opens the door and peeks in. "Hi." she kicks the basket in before her, then stands shyly looking around the door at the badger. Should she go in? Would it upset him? Would he get stressed? Was he asleep? She has no idea. She'll just wait for him to invite her further in.

Zork looks at Lilymoore and smiles a little "Oh it's you, ello thar....ummm, you can come in ya know"

LilyMoore shuffles in and drags the very large basket over to the side of his bed. "Nana said that something bad had happened, but she didn't tell me what, and I didn't want to disturb you." She suddenly goes to give him a hug.

Zork allows the hug and smiles again, he goes to sit up better and tenses up a little when he goes to return a hug to her, he is silent before he answers "Yeah, but tis ok now, well ok enough"

LilyMoore smiles, then looks down and starts messing with a fold in the bed linens. "Dad told me," she whispers. "About...you. I wish you were all okay and could go back to being the Blacksmith."

Zork speaks "Bout wot? Couple days go...had ta do something, and...and Silverstorm is blacksmith now lass." His voice is a little weak today but least he is talking now, unlike yesterday and the day before when he hardly talked.

LilyMoore looks up into his eyes, looking immeasurably sad. "About you dying." she says simply, sitting down on the edge of his bed. She pulls out a stack of paper from her covered basket. "I was thinking that today maybe we could do a craft. I brought stuff to do, and I wanna hang out with you before.....before...."

Zork frowns, he starts to say something but decides to just stay quiet, he shrugs, "I...I don't know...do wot?"

LilyMoore splits the stack in half and hands 1 half to the badger. "I was thinking we could make our own books. Blisa showed me how. It's easy! And fun." All along 1 side of each piece of paper are 4 holes. The young mouse pulls out some coloured strings that have been braided together and some stained cloth. The cloth looks like it was cut from old habits, and it has been stiffened with something. The cloth pieces have matching holes along their sides.

Zork looks at the stacks of paper and smiles, He chuckles and then coughs a couple times and closes his eyes, laughing didn't hurt this much before. He takes a couple breaths before opening his eyes again and frowns "Guess...laughing much is notta god thing lass, but making a book does sound intrestin' "

LilyMoore nods and starts to weave the braided strings through the holes of her paper and covers. It already looks like a book. "That's sad. I'll try to not make you laugh, then. Hey, maybe you could give the book to Sister Zinnia for her to remember you by! And you could write her a little note on the first page. I'm sure she'd love that." She's grinning now, hoping he'll like her idea.

Zork nods as he watches her and smiles again, "I do have a lot of good stories."

LilyMoore has finished weaving and tie-ing her strings and now digs some coloured sticks out from the basket. "Hey, maybe you could write them down in your book, and then they'll be in the Abbey library forever! These are oil paint pencils, as Blisa called them. They act like paint, just not as messy, pencils, except prettier, and they dry after a while and look like oil paint." She starts to draw on the cover of her book, then adds, "Maybe you could tell me one of the stories?" [OOC note: What Lily is nw using is not a real thing I've actually seen. I don't see why they couldn't be made, though. Call it artistic license ;) BIC:]

Zork smiles, he tries to weave the colored string into some pages as she did, and even adds a cover to it, he messes up the first time but then the 2nd time he tries he gets it right and smiles "This is sort a fun Lilymoore, never made any sort a book before. I have made teas before and course forge items"

LilyMoore is smiling. "I'm having a wonderful time. What kind of things have you made in the forge? It sounds very important." She is still drawing on her book cover. It's not very skillful, especially compared to Blisa's drawings, but it sure is pretty.

Zork smiles "Well tis not to be used ta repair weapons and armor or make it, now I have done that but in Send and at a friends forge. Things that da abbey can make be gardening tools, shovels, pans and pots, nails and hinges...or like de gates I made them strong and good and helped with de bell tower as well. Also ya can make barrel rings, fer de ales and cordials"

LilyMoore grins and sets down the colour. Her book cover is a solid swirl of many colours. "What's Send? Where is it? And what did you make there? Did you make anything interesting?"

Zork smiles "I made weapons fer beasts and different useful things." He looks at his cover of his book, he is not the artist type so he colors it blue with some swirls of a darker blue on each corner and grins. "I think de last time I used to do much coloring was as a dibbun, gee that was a long time ago"

LilyMoore looks up at her friend. "How old are you? Do you mind my asking? Oooh, that's pretty!" she says, pointing at his book cover. She pulls out some quill pens and 2 inkwells full of red ink and purple ink. "What useful things? Like, pots and pans and stuff?"

Zork nods, "How...old am I? Oh maybe....40 seasons or so, me Uncle Zee tis older and..." He sighs a little "And yet he was able ta fight the ermine..." He decides to change the subject "Yes, same basic stuff and sometimes rings for fingers and a necklace once"

LilyMoore digs some more paper out of her huge covered basket and some charcoal pencils. "Fight what ermine? Oh....um, never mind." She quickly adds. "Um......who did you make the necklace for?"

Zork still has yet to really write anything on the pages he has, but he has the front and back cover, both look the same, " A hare wanted one fer his friend. Thar were hares up north, foxes and a creature called a wolf." He smiles at a thought and draws a river, "The flowing stream clan...hee wonder if Blazeingfang still be in charge, he was when I left ta come here." He glances at her "Ands there was an ermine on the road, but he went away"

From the door comes a knock and a boisterous little voice calling out, "'Elloooo? Is anybeast 'ome?" This is followed by yet another knock, "I givin' out strawberries, iffin' you want any." [Aveelia]

LilyMoore smiles. "I bet it was pretty." She watches him draw the river, her eyes wide. Who's Blazingfang? Was he a wolf? What do wolfs look like?" She jumps at the high-pitched midget voice, then whispers to the former Blacksmith, "Do you think they are to be trusted?"

Zork shrugs, " I...don't know lass" He hmms and shrugs, "Anyways de Northlands are nice at times and bad at times...ohhhh" He suddenly seems to remember something and gets some green, blue and red as he draws swirls of color and smiles "There were these lights thar...pretty at night called de Northern Lights, color dancing on de sky." He sighs "I miss it, it's not this far south sadly" He draws more and then what looks like a campfire with some stick figures around it watching the lights and writes about them as well.

The knocking on the door gets more insistent, then suddenly quiets at the sound of the voices inside the room. There is silence from the other side of the door for a good ten seconds before suddenly there is a muffled 'thud' as the beasty on the other side of the door gives it a good sound kick, or at least a good kick by dibbun standards, "Fine! I'mma take my strawberries somewheres else an giv'en to /Muggly/!" Whoever Muggly is, apparently he's a quite a step down from all the other beasts around Redwall, if the tone of the dibbun's voice is anything to go by. Little foot falls proceed down the hallway and the intruder on the other side of the door is gone.

LilyMoore giggles at the Dibbun's outburst, then her eyes grow round with delight. "Ooooh, they sound so pretty. I wonder why it doesn't come south?"

Zork says, "I don't know that answer lass, sorry...but a book on them may be nice and 'tis at like sundown time ya see them, on a clear night"

Zork has written down things as he talked of the northern lights, and even signs his name, his full name on the last page, its a small book but still a nice one... "Thar...and me name at de end...Zork Winters..."

LilyMoore nods, then watches as her friend signs his name. "Zork Winters....that's a pretty last name. Why Winters? Is it because you grew up in the Northlands?"

Zork smiles "It's family name.." He yawns a little and closes his book he made.

LilyMoore smiles, then notes the yawn. "You should get some rest. Thanks for telling me stories. Hope to do this again soon." She sticks all the unused supplies back in the basket, along with her finished book, goes to give him a quick hug, then leaves, the basket dragging on the floor but her heart flying high as the clouds.

Zork smiles and nods as he hugs her, he soon lays down and gets some needed rest.

Thanks for reading!
