Hidden Rat Worried Otter Part One

From Redwall MUCK Wiki

Characters: Kentar, Aikuen, Sinway, Mayuel, Will, Fira

Location: North Path

The tent wasn't as smelly as Aikuen said it was. So Kentar just got a nice restful sleep with no itching. He quietly makes his way out of the tent after having just woken up, looking around to see if anyone else in the group was up.

Aikuen is outside, in front of the fire-less pit. He has put back on all his armor and weaponry, and is slightly dozing. He hears Kentar and looks up and waves, "Mornin'..." Then he goes back to being half asleep.

Kentar wipes the sleep from his eye before nodding slowly towards the otter. "Wait now...something doesn't look right." he looks at Aikuen. "You've got your armor and weapons back on...did you decide not to give up fighting?"

Aikuen stretches his back, "Sort of... Fira convinces me that i shouldn't give up fighting... just fight for the right reasons from now on." He smiles, "That means no more torture or murder for me mate..."

Kentar nods and chuckles. "Good. That's my job remember? What I did to that kitten was my idea..." he laughs, sitting down next to the otter. "Wonder what happened to her afterwards."

Sinway is wondering around the area near the otter and stoat are camp at, not really hearing any sign of life around, he doesn't even try to be careful of where he walks or what he steps on, his foots step could be heard by any beast with in the area

Aikuen shrugs, "Don't know... She my come after us, when she is full grown... We did ruin her eye, if i do recall..." He turns his head in the direction of the noise, and stands up. He slowly draws his sword, and yells, "Oi! Mayeul?..."

Kentar shrugs. "No, I ruined her eye. And if she comes back, I'll ruin more then..." he's up, sword drawn. He then threw himself into the bushes just incase, making himself totally invisible.

Sinway ears perk at the noise his sword is drawn as well "who is there?" he calls out reading his blade "are you friend or foe?"

Aikuen hasn't heard that voice before. He makes a motion with his paw, like a circle, and then points to Kentar in the bushes. Hopefully the stoat knew what he meant. He readies his weapon, and slowly walks forward, "You first, show yourself!"

Kentar wasn't really watching Aikuen. He was just moving as quiet as night, weapon ready. His eyes were scanning the path and the area around him for the beast they hear.

Sinway comes walking into view of the camp with a sigh "ok here i am." he says softly even though he sees its a fellow otter he does not put away his sword

Aikuen puts his sword away, and says, "And what is your business here?"

Kentar keeps his rapier out and ready, getting right next to Sinway secretly in the bushes, ready to pounce just incase.

Sinway smirks a little "no business do i need any to go exploring?" he asks looking at the otter

Aikuen raises a brow, "In this part of the country... Its a little dangerous to be walking alone, all the way up here..." He sees movement in the bushes, and just takes a glance at it, before looking at the other otter.

Kentar watches Sinway even more carefully, staying as quiet as he possibly can still.

Sinway yawns a little his ears pick up the movement but doesn't say any thing "well i don't have any business."

Aikuen eyes Sinway, "Alright then... go about doing your non-business exploring. But first put the sword away... then you can go..." He waves a paw in the air, off in a northern direction.

Kentar keeps his sword in his paw but he slowly returns back in the direction of the camp. VERY slowly of course.

Sinway sighs a little and puts his sword away "not very friendly for a otter." he says with another sigh

Aikuen smiles, "Cant be too careful around here... specially the otters... they darn near killed me..." He chuckles and walks back toward camp.

Kentar makes it back to camp and quietly sheathes his sword, slowly stepping out of the bushes with some twigs he found on the ground. "I got some kindling for the fire...I..." he stops to look up at Sinway. "Good day to you..." he then sets the wood in the fire pit. Good for a cover story.

Sinway smirks "well being a former novice im not the type to just attack any one unless im attacked first." he states with a frown wondering why otters would attack another otter but doesn't say any thing on the subject smirking as the stoat comes back in "hello there."

Aikuen nods to the stoat, "Right... a Fire..." He pulls out his sword and flint and starts making sparks. He hears the word novice and looks up, "A Redwaller eh? Nice to meet you, sorry i was being rude...Im Aik by the way..." He blows on the twigs and they ignite.

Sinway shakes his head "former redwaller i left the order." he smiles "names sinway." he says feeling a little weird standing out side of the camp talking to them

Kentar tilts his head somewhat before sitting down. "Didn't think an order beast could willingly leave the order."

Sinway smirks a little "its are choice to become peace loving beast of the order its also are choice to leave, we are not forced to be part of the order if we don't want to any more." he says smiling

Aikuen waves a paw to Sinway, "Well take a loud off... Not enough food to go around, but you can have a drink if yah like..." He snorts, "Couldn't make me wear one of those habits... Who'd yah leave?"

Kentar looks over. "Could make me...I think it would be interesting to be an order beast." he says. "Flicktail even asked if I was going to join, before we left." he shrugs, laying back.

Sinway nods and joins them "some one close to me was killed by a group of vermin, i went to avenge his life, and i don't think i can go back to being a novice again." he says and smiles "i don't know the habits where nice." he smirks "interesting thing is i get back and find that very flicktail, the dibbun loving shield beast of camp willow, turns out to be the new champion of redwall." he says

Aikuen was holding the canteen, ready to hand it too Sinway, when it drops to the ground spilling everywhere. He has a hard time making words, "Wa?.. Flick...Champ?... Really?"

Kentar sits up and blinks. "What? Really?" he asks before tilting his head. "What's abbey champion?" he asks.

Sinway smirks "abbey champion is the one martin chooses to be in charge of keeping the abbey safe, he or she would lead them in times of war, and such, and he or she is the one given the right to wield martins sword, which was just found it seems not to long ago."

Aikuen nods, he knows the story, "Yah...But Flicktail?... I don't believe it..." He picks up the fallen canteen, and takes a drink.

Kentar blinks. "Sorry, no one could pick an idiot to keep the abbey safe...nice try...Sheesh. interesting few days. Attacked by skuld or skald or whatever, then lied to by an otter. Hah!" he laughs

Sinway eyes open "skuld, a cat?" he asks moving closer to him "BE VERY SURE, was it a cat female named skuld?" he asks looking at kentar

Kentar nods. "Yeah. Little vermin. I took part of her ear, and her eye for her our troubles. Trust me if you run into it, kill it. Do the world a favor." he mutters.

Sinway Draws his sword and hisses "how dare you hurt her." he says eyes now full of fury .

Aikuen doesnt say anything, the Flicktail thing still floating in his mind. But then the sword is drawn, and this otter is up with sward drawn also, pointing it at Sinway.

Sinway looks at him " I will ask this to you very clearly and only once. which way did my daughter go?" he asks eyes looking over to aikuen for a split second

Kentar frowns. "I don't see how anybeast could have that vermin rag as a daughter..." the then points his sword south. "South but this was days ago."

Sinway frowns a little collecting him self again "she wasn't always a vermin." he says putting his sword away "she was a very sweet cat."

Kentar frowns and slowly puts his away as well. "Well she's vermin now. Came to us threatening us. If it wasn't for Aikuen, I would have killed her."

Aikuen lowers his sword slightly, but still keeps it ready.

Sinway looks away "she most likely like this because i left her with the abbey so i could go out and kill those vermin."

Sinway gets up and sighs "well im going to go look for her." he says before leaving the camp and heading south

Kentar shrugs. "If i ever see her again, I will kill her. Sorry," he says before waving.

Aikuen sheaths his sword, and scratches his head, "Im beginning to see a pattern... between vermin and otters..." He doesn't wave, just sits back down.

Will had gone off on his own for a while and missed Sinway's arrival, he returned just as the otter was leaving.

Kentar frowns and sits down. "Oh really?" he asks. "Enlighten me." he says, not noticing Will's return.

Aikuen tilts his head, "Really? Is it not that obvious... What is the same between me and Sinway?" He also doesn't know Will has arrived.

Kentar grins a bit. "You're both stupid?"

Aikuen palms his own face, "No... We're both fathers to Vermin you numbskull..."

While Will hadn't been present when the other otter had arrival he /had/ been within hearing range of camp and heard him talking with Kentar and Aikuen. He slips back out of sight in hopes that the stoat and otter will keep talking. He smiles at Kentar's comment but bites his lip to keep from giving away his position.

Kentar tilts his head. "So? What's wrong with being father to a vermin dibbun? There's nothing wrong with Will at all. There never was. You love him right?" he asks. "All that matters."

Aikuen becomes appalled, "Of course i love him... And though Will can be a little bit of a pain, I wouldn't change him in anyway... He probably thinks im a pain as well... I was just merely stating what i saw..."

Kentar nods slowly. "Then why compare yourself to that other otter, hm?" he asks.

Aikuen scratches his chin, and hmms, "I guess your right... We have little in common, now that i think about it..." He chuckles, "Letting his daughter become evil... What is this world coming too..."

Kentar smiles and nods. "See? Sinway was obviously never a good father." he says. "But you are."

Will remains hidden from view amongst the tree listening to the stoat and otter with interest.

Aikuen sighs, "Really?... Sometimes i think i set a bad example for him..." He shoves a rock with his footpaws.

Kentar nods slowly. "Aikuen. You have a temper. Who doesn't?" he asks. "I have one too. So what?" he says. "Your doing a great job as Will's father. And you know, if you don't believe me, ask him yourself when he gets back from wherever he is."

Aikuen nods, "Thanks mate...Course that conversation might be a little awkward" He looks to an imaginary Will, "...So mate...am i a good father?" He shakes his head.

Will very quietly edges closer to camp, in case Aikuen should panic like has before and come looking for him. Seeing the otter isn't upset he creeps closer while staying just out of sight

Kentar frowns. "If you don't ask him, then I will. Then I'll show you that you are a good father. Got it?"

Aikuen sighs, and nods, "Okay... When he comes back ill leave, so he doesn't have me to worry about when saying bad stuff about me..." He picks up the same rock and tosses it in the fire.

Kentar frowns. "You really are such an idiot aren't you?" he asks, taking a small pebble and chucking it Aikuen's head.

Aikuen takes the pebble in the head, but doesn't flinch, "What...Why? That plan makes perfect sense!"

Kentar frowns. "No idiot, it doesn't. Why am I asking your son if your a good father?" he asks. "Why can't you do it? That shows to me that your too scared to hear that your not." he stands goes right into Aikuen's face. "If you weren't a good father, would Will even still be here with us?"

Will was going to walk out and try to pretend he hadn't heard anything but then he choose not to.

Aikuen opens his mouth to say something, but then closes it. He scratches his head for a moment, and thinks. After a good few minutes he says, "Fine, your right... ill ask him..."

Kentar stood there waiting and when Aikuen replies, he smiles. "Good." he says, finally sitting down again.

Will has lost interest in the conversation and wanders off away from the camp again, though still in ear-shot.
