Harvest time in Ferravale means lots of fresh fruit to share :D

From Redwall MUCK Wiki

FV:Orchards

You have come upon a large orchards that has apple trees in one area, pear trees in another, some peach trees and some walnut and almond trees in another area of the orchards. A couple plum trees are on the far side of the orchards and on the sides some blackberry bushes and wild strawberries.A path heads back to the fields where crops grow.

Exits: [B]ack to Fields

Jase the cat. Blisa the cat and Ferdinand the ferret.

Even a healer needs a break from everyday life and so Jase has taken a day off, he has never had a day off and felt he was due one as he sits under an apple tree and munches on an apple, a red juicy one.

And it's a nice day for one, too. Blisa and Ferdinand are out taking full advantage of the late summer weather, walking through the orchards, chatting and gathering fruit. They come to the apple tree where the male cat is, each with a half-full basket under their arms, when Blisa spots the Healer. She runs over to him and stops beside him, waving. "Hi!" she says brightly, her face wreathed in a smile.

Jase had his eyes closed and opens them as he sees Blisa and smiles at her, "Umm...hi, errr..hello" He then stands and dusts off his outfit and stands up better, "I was taking a day off, all is well in the infirmary I do hope."

Blisa looks up at his face, a smile still gracing her face. She's shorter than an average cat, so she has to tilt her head back to actually see his face, but she doesn't seem to mind. Ferdinand pretends to be interested in a nearby peach tree, but in reality he's listening to everything that's going on. "As far as I know, everything's fine. Plumb?" The petite holds out a dark purple fruit to him.

Jase takes the plumb and tastes it, he hmms "It's...ok, never had one of these before, so is harvest going well for the village, I am guessing they started or will soon"

Blisa looks surprised. "You've never had a plumb before? Do they not grow very well in your old home?" She goes to sit at the base of the apple tree and pats the ground beside her as she waits for his answer.

Jase says, "I...guess I got use to a lot of fish and maybe some apples or pears, I mainly ate what I found, when...well I was around any trees and stuff"

Blisa furrows her brow, her smile faltering slightly. "That you found? ....well, we have plenty of food here. Ferravale's harvest is going surprisingly well, although I guess that it's not that surprising, seeing as how we haven't had to worry about warlords taking us over or anything for a few months. And I've heard that the Abbey's harvest is doing splendidly, so that's good, too."

Jase frowns just a little and nods "Well I had spent some time on a ship, so we didn't go on land too often, but now I live here and I like it allot better"

Blisa's mouth drops open into a small O. "You were at sea? You'll /have/ to tell me all about it sometime." She grins. "I'm glad that you're here. It's nice to have somebeast my age here, finally."

Jase smiles as he looks at her "Yeah...maybe, might be boring a little or not...I mean...and yes I like it here, I have a home, a job, I am trusted and I have friends or think I have friends anyways I hope so anyways."

Blisa goes to rest a paw on his arm, impulsively. "Well, I'll be your friend. I really don't have anybeast my age to hang out with, so it'd be great to spend more time with you." The way she says that makes it evident that she means exactly what she's said, and isn't saying that just to be nice.

Jase nods "I am glad then, I never really had many friends growing up, maybe I spent too much time studying and reading, but I did learn allot and from watching other beasts as well."

Blisa shrugs. "Well, if you don't study and read, you can't learn things. I like to read. I also like to draw." She pulls a sketchbook out of her basket and opens it to her last drawing. It's of Jase, and it looks so real, it's almost like a mini-him is going to come bounding off the page. "It helps me calm down and not think about terrible things, and it sometimes makes my headache go away."

Jase blinks "Wow your a good...a great artist...headaches?" He frowns "Do you need some Willowbark Tea to help you and why think of bad things, one should think of good things."

Blisa smiles modestly as she closes the sketchbook and puts it back into her basket. "I do it for fun. It makes me feel better." She puts a paw to her forehead. "Yeah, ever since this crazy mouse named Irinevok kidnapped me, I've had constant headaches. All the healers I've talked to have said that it's from the blow to the back of my head he gave me." she turns and points to a very faint scar, almost completely covered by her fur, on the back of her head. "They've said that there's nothing they can do about it. When it gets really bad, I drink some white willow bark tea and stay in my room with the curtains closed." She turns back and smiles into his face. "And I've seen lots of terrible things in my life, and it seems like very few good things, so I can't help but think of the bad stuff."

Jase says, "Well, maybe you can make some happy memories and as for the headaches maybe they will go away in time, I hope so anyways"

Jase starts to say something else when a weasel comes running to him and he frowns "What?" The weasel speaks, "Me brother swallowed a...fish hook and it's stuck in his lip..." The cat sighs and follows the weasel, "This was supposed to be my day off..."

Blisa smiles and nods. "I hope so, too." She watches the weasel have to come get him and sighs. Well.....they can continue becoming friends another day.

Not to worry, nothing bad is going to happen to Blisa. She just has headaches :) Thanks for reading!
