Gaining Trust And Passing On Info

FV:Town Hall:Chieftain's Office(#226082R)

This is an office where the Chieftain does some of his work. A large desk sits in the room and has varies important papers on it. A chair is by the desk and a window looks outside.

Scioto is looking over some papers and signs one before laying it on a pile and yawns, he woke up too early.

Kolur knocks on the door "Sir Scioto may I enter? It’s Kolur " He awaits an answer as he has learned, this takes time to gain trust.

Scioto calls out, "Enter Kolur, in fact I want to discuss something important to you." He sips an ale he has on the desk before producing a key he uses to unlock the top desk drawer. He then pulls out a scroll he starts to unroll onto the desk.

Kolur enters and walks over, he tilts his head at the scroll "So whats that sir and wot be this important bit of info ya have for me sir?"

Scioto smiles "The treaty between Ferravale and Redwall Abbey. This is important as it lets us and them know no harm will come to one another. We can trade if we wish and they can visit, so long as they let me know a couple days in advance and they follow the rules of Ferravale. There may be a treaty but it doesn’t mean a Redwall beast or woodlander is 100% safe in the village as it is a vermin place after all. I do try and have very trusted guards escort say like the abbot around, but he has been here like once and he obeys and respects the rules here"

Kolur looks at the treaty, "That’s interesting sir but why are you telling me this?"

Scioto answers, "Because it’s important to keep the peace between us and the abbey. We never harm them without a reason and the same for them to us. I rarely go to the abbey, in fact I dislike it some but the treaty stays. I most likely will visit the abbey even less now as it seems their new...champion dislikes vermin, which makes since as the whole more vermin welcome came from the fox Flicktail, well he is just a fox now that’s lucky they didn’t kick him and his family out of that place."

Kolur nods "Well the place is full of woodlanders, woodlanders usually hate our kind so why even have a treaty with them sir?" Hey he is curious and maybe even thinks it’s a dumb idea.

Scioto takes a deep breath and answers "Because its helpful in some ways, like recently we lost our only good healer and the abbey has who can, only when asked by me or my daughter, come help. There are a couple weasels who are decent at healing and a vixen. The abbeys main healer helped us get some herbs and supplies, even helped tend an herb garden in the village, that’s all we needed, and we can handle most of the rest on our own. There is a ...well fairly good healer rat that stays by the fighting pits."

Kolur says, "Sounds like we be fine on healers and who needs woodlander ones. I surely won’t let any woodlander help me "

Scioto shrugs "The abbey has helped me a couple times and has yet to do anything to make me refuse their aid when its needed." He sips some more ale and frowns when its empty. He places the rolled scroll back in the drawer and locks it, he then stands "I have some other things to do, you can join me if you wish Kolur"

Kolur grins and nods "Course sir I would love to help" Yes so he can gain more trust and see what your normal day is, so far he has picked out a few interesting things but the more he helps the chieftain then the more he finds out things. And he can find out things that could help, or rather help Kolur have important info for his own boss, Zurrgg.

Scioto nods as he adjusts his cape “Then let us go. I have my patrol around the village and then checking on the shops, and then a meal and ale at the tavern"

Kolur speaks up, "You do not always have an ale at the tavern I notice, you sometimes have one at lunch in the tavern or your office"

Scioto asks, "I have one in my office to calm nerves, it’s not always easy to be chieftain" He does seem to have an ale at almost the same time every day, also the same kind of ale usually" But enough on that I have things to do remember?"

Kolur nods and hides a smirk as he follows him to where ever they are going, he will have to remember this info as it only confirms what he has watched the past 2-3 weeks, the chieftain has a routine he rarely steers from. "Of course sir...achally sir if its ok with you I do need to do some things of my own after the patrol if that’s ok sir?"

Scioto hmms "Yes of course, after the patrol you can have the rest of the day off if you like. Can't have trusted guards be too over worked" He then starts his patrol before lunch.

Kolur nods once and after the patrol is over he excuses himself and walks to where he is to meet his real boss, Zurrgg.

after Lunch

The Black Gull - Tavern

An ever present combination of smells greets any new arrival upon entering the Gull. Various ales and grogs, rums and wines; of course, the scents and aromas of liquors would be there. It's a tavern. But along with those airs, the underlying odor of unwashed bodies and unclean boots can be detected. It is this joining of scents that gives the Gull a very well-loved and oft' visited personality.

That, and the state of the inner commons, as well.

The scuffed floorboards beneath ones footpaws will guide anybeasts' eyes to the simplistic layout that the Gull was designed in. The east wall opens, narrowly, its mouth for a well-lit vestibule to settle uncomfortably. Light, both from the outside, and the two lanterns hung there, casts a revealing glow upon the entrants, giving the patrons within a rather decent visual. Slipping further into the Gull, the light grows dimmer, and far less frequent. With no windows to the outdoors, the tavern is held in the palm of eternal dusk.
Across from the entrance, the bar has been placed upon a, slightly, raised platform. Being open on either end, it's not uncommon to see the tavern's wenches and 'tenders hustling about, passing one another as they go about their duties. Reflecting, poorly, the goings on about the bar is a large, dusty old mirror. A few beasts have traced various crude pictures in the gathered dust around the border, but for the most part the mirror (the middle of it, at least) remains clear. Cracks of time and stains from thrown drinks stripe the looking glass in a few places. Various racks and shelves with bottles, labeled and not, settle on either side of this mirror above casks. Two doors, abused and slightly battered, rest behind the bar; One faces the west and to the barn and paddock, while the other, North-facing, gives way to the kitchens. To the south is a platform consisting of drenched, copper-brown wood (mainly from spilled blood, one might assume).
With the season changing once again, the open hearth nestled against the northern wall, along with a staircase, has roared back into life. A steady fire can almost always be seen and heard crackling lazily over dead wood. A few run-down garlands are strung about the mantle; somebeast's attempt at making the Gull a little more festive, perhaps.

Zurrgg was already at the tavern, waiting and watching. His only company was the monitor and it seemed very few would even sit near him due to this fact. He folds his arms over his chest and simply waits.

Kolur enters and looks around. He soon spots the wildcat at a table and walks over “Sir" He salutes the wildcat but frowns at the monitor "Sir..if I may ask why is the creepy monitor always have ta be with ya??"

Ripfang hisses low but keeps his mouth shut. It’s clear he is here for protection if needed. He glares at a rat that gets too close, and said rat quickly finds a new place to have his ale, far far from the lizard.
Zurrgg smiles coldly, "Protection my friend and I have 3 and a half dozen friends making sure the dibbun stays where he is. He obeys me now, always a wise decision I say. Now, what do you have from Ferravale?"
Kolur gulps slightly and sits down, "Well not too much boss. Scioto seems to trust me now, even gave me some history of why he has that stupid peace treaty with the abbey. Other than that he, unlike his daughter, doesn't walk around with guards all the time, sometimes the head guard that fox named Bandit, otherwise he is by himself or lately with me at his side."
Ripfang is just going to let them talk and make sure they are not disturbed, he won’t interrupt any talking.
Zurrgg nods "I see and yes peace treaty whatever. If I manage to take over Ferravale, that peace treaty is the first thing to end. So the chieftain of Ferravale has little around him? How is his armor, does he have any? Any certain thing...info, anything to be fall Kolur?"
Kolur thinks and nods "Ummm...chainmail mainly, as for something else he does tend to have a certain way of doing things all the time."

Zurrgg grins widely "Certain routine maybe? Tell me as this is important and armor is not always a problem. I have seen him in it if it’s the same one from before, knowing him he improved it somewhat." He chuckles "Tell me more as ideas come to my mind."

Kolur frowns "What else is there and yeah he patrols, he always has a drink at the tavern about the same time every day or at his office. The office is in back of the town hall, small office with a holding cell in a room behind it. There is a window also but curtains are usually down so you can’t see in it. He probably does that to have peace and quiet who knows. I do know he is starting to trust me a lot more since I have been there. I say he trusts me a fair amount."
Zurrgg drums his fingers on the table and then slowly smiles, "This is good news as one doesn't always need to have a weapon to kill a beast. A weapon can be a blade,sword..even an arrow shot at just the right time or angle works out well."
Kolur listens "Yeah they would have ta be a perfect shot in just the right place. And not like ya get an easy clear path in a crowded place, he must likely have beasts quickly helping him. His armor covers his chest, course there is the neck or head maybe if ya lucky but our best bow beast was killed by that badger remember boss?"

Zurrgg just chuckles as he moves a paw along his belt of pouches "There is other weapons one never sees, hears or in some cases..taste. Gain more trust of Scioto and then come back to me. I will give you something to make sure his days end...permanently."

Kolur looks to the pouches as his eyes widen “But...wouldn't something like that be..caught. I don't think he is a fool as things like that tend to..well change what it is added to like taste, smell...and color maybe?" He has a point right?
Zurrgg smirks as he stands "Come Ripfang." He then turns to the marten, " What I have, or one of many....is colorless, odorless, no taste and unnoticed till it’s too late to do anything about it. Now do gain his trust some more and remember this meeting didn’t happen. Have a good day" He heads on back out as he places his hood up and goes out the door.
Ripfang hisses low at the marten and then follows his master out the doorway and back to the road.
Kolur gulps and waits a little while before he heads back to Ferravale, and as of right now he is unsure who is creepier now his boss or his boss's pet monitor!
