Flights of Fancy

From Redwall MUCK Wiki

The noble Ferrevale Holding Cell, while not quite the dark and abysmal pit where hope goes to curl up and die as most dungeons are, the holding cell does seem to hold a certain sense of dread for lesser beasts, Bandit thinks as he walks into the Town Hall. The fox pauses infront of a decorative mirror in the hallway. He sighs as he runs his paws about his midriff. Despite his best efforts to lose weight the fox just can not fathom why he is still growing heavy. It's such a mystery thinks Bandit as he picks his teeth clean of his lunch. After all he cut back on the number of pies he eats per week by two! TWO!

The fox shakes his head as he moves through the office and to the holding cell. Basilisk the snake is no longer present at the window, as the city goers outside started to complain, but in his place there have been left two guards to keep the prisoner sufficiently menaced. Both are rats, a tall grey rat with a crooked nose, and a short, burly brown rat with a ribbon tied to the handle of her sword.

Both salute and come to attention when Bandit enters the room.

Longfang looks up and stands as he sees Bandit and walks over to the front of the cell, "Well it it isn't the slight fat head guard, come to say hello to me?" He smirks as he waits for a reply and looks at the two rats right in front of the cell.

The fox smirks as he paces the outside of the cell. The fox undue his sword belt and hands it off to the brown rat. Bandit was a firm believer in prison rules. Bring into the prison only what you planned on having used on you. The brown rat takes her leave of the room and guards the exit outside, leaving the only weapon in the room the club tied to the second rat's belt.

"I'm afraid it's the price you pay for living a secular life," Bandit says as he pats his stomach. "Nothing a good diet won't cure, like the one we will put Basilisk on after we feed you to him."

Longfang slowly smiles, but it's not a nice smile as he grabs hold of the rat who seems to have been foolish enough to lean against the bars. He doesn't have any weapons but he does have claws.

The rat makes an estranged squeek as he is pulled next to the bars, flailing his arms about. The wry comment Bandit was about to make is instantly quashed. The fox's eyes go wide and he dashes forward to assist his guard. "Son of a..."

Longfang claws are out as he holds the guard and grins at the fox, "Well well, it seems another guard is about to die at my paws and you get to watch." He chuckles coldly and makes sure a line of blood forms on the rat, this won't kill the rat, the ermine replys "Release me and the rat lives, don't release me and it falls dead as I rip out his throat!"

The fox stops in mid step, slightly hunched over and reaching for a blade that is not there. "You do and I'll feed you your tail!" Watching the rat squeeak with fright as the claw cuts into him causes the fox to growl. He can't let the beast escape. He can't! But he can't watch another guardbeast die either. Imagines of the weasel back on the road flash through his mind, and the tearful sobs of the guards wife as she tried to explain to her child why daddy wasn't coming home anymore...

"Guard!" The fox shouts without taking his eyes off of Longfang. "GUARD!" He snaps again. The door opens and the brown rat enters, the head guards blade drawn. "Where do you think you are going to go Longfang, do you really think you will get far even if we let you go?"

Longfang smirks, "Oh you be surprised, one don't need weapons to always fight, do they?"

Yeah, that's what the fox is afraid of. He watches the rat stand on his toes trying to get away from the claw puncturing his neck. "It's me own fault! Just stab him! Just stab him!" The rat shouts. Bandit only growls. "Sword." the guard behind him looks at the fox like he is crazy but doesn't argue. She hands him his blade. "Open it." The guard nods again, movingly slowly to the door, passing a wary glance with her fellow rat and slowly unlocks the door.

Longfang keeps a hold of the other rat for now, and keeps an eye on Bandit and the other rat as well. He stays very alert as they go to open the cell door and smiles his deadly smile, that could make some back away and whimper sometimes.

Bandit watches the ermine move closer and closer to the door. He can't let the ermine escape, not just for obvious reasons. Each time a beast like Longfang escapes from the jail it hurts the credibility of the guard. Highway beasts see them as weak, villains underestimate them, and the population sees their town as less secure.

Not to mention that Bandit would probibly have to fall on his blade if he escapes.

But he can't suffer another guards death? Can he? And Marek? What will happen to him if he killed the ermine? Which was worse?

The fox takes a deep breath, "Forgive me." It's hard to tell who he is asking for forgiveness for until the pulls back the blade and thrusts forward. The rat's eyes widen as the fox takes his suggestion and stabs at the ermine...through the rat. The blade peirces his uniform at the side, close enough to his body to open a rather large gash with out actually running the rat through the belly, but aiming at the ermines stomach behind him.

Longfang eyes go wide as the blade slides across the one guard's side and sinks into his upper leg when he goes to move away. He growls and this makes his grip on the guard tighten and those claws, oh those sharp claws sink right into the guard's throat like a knife into butter. He then throws the, most likely near death guard now at the fox!

The fox falls backward as the body of the rat is thrust towards him, "Stop him!" The other rat is still in a state of shock, seeing the head guard practically murder one of his own to get to the prisoner. She hesitates before trying to draw her club. By then Bandit is trying to set the rat down, rather roughly with out simply tossing him to the side, "Stop him!"

Longfang smirks as he looks around for a weapon, his blades are most likely in the office. He positions himself to aim a jab or two to knock out the fox and rat, then try to flee.

The second guard crumbles after she takes a blow to the snout. She backs up and collapses onto her tail. Bandit however has a bit more meat on his bones, and chain mail under his tunic. He yells in pain when the blow connects to his ribs, causing him to drop the bleeding rat. He shouts in rage, swinging the short sword with both hands the fox creates sparks as the blade glances the wall on its way to the ermines head.

Longfang ducks as the blsde barely misses him and gulps a little. He sends a kick to th fox's gut and goes to dash into the office and find his blades in the holding area. He punches out a guard and steals the key to get to his blades and pouch as he says "So long fools!"

The fox falls backward onto his tail. Grabbing the bars behind him he pulls himself back up. "ALARM! ALARM!" His voice echoes out across the town hall. The fox takes a step after the ermine then pauses. He is much too fat and slow to go chasing after the ermine, and he has more pressing matters now. Looking back he sees that the rat guard isn't dead yet..."Blast it all!" The fox beats his fist against the wall.

The ermine has escaped...

Longfang makes it through the town hall and looks back and forth as he has his twin blades back, a weasel comes at him and the weasel becomes headless in a flash. Another guard gasps as the ermine grins and knocks the guard out and flees, he makes it to the gate and stabs a rat in the neck and the other he slams them into the gates and then rushes into the woods just off the path
